The Ekiti State governor-elect, Mr Ayo Fayose, on Thursday in Abuja, said that the concession of incumbent governor Kayode Fayemi to defeat was a propaganda stunt aimed at eliciting public sympathy.

Fayose told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that although Fayemi at the weekend conceded publicly and congratulated him, the governor had not picked calls from him since then.

"The governor said I am conceding to defeat. Let me be realistic with you, there is a difference between propaganda and reality.

"I have been calling the governor since after our meeting but he hasn't picked the call.

"If you read all papers now, he said I will create local governments before I go; how do you reconcile these things?

"I am not a propagandist, I am a realist. The governor says he will do employment before he leaves that means you want to create problem for the incoming government.

"So I see that concession, as good as it may be, we must all be realistic about it, we must not deceive the Nigerian populace.

"Their party said we are still studying the ink used by INEC; it is the governor that conceded not our party," he said.

Fayose recalled that in 2003, his predecessor, Mr Niyi Adebayo, also conceded defeat but went ahead to conduct a mass recruitment though he had only six months remaining in his tenure.

"I respect the governor; he is our leader, up until the 15th of October, he remains our leader but I want to appeal to APC not to play propaganda with sensitive issues like this.

"If the governor says I am not going, his party too must make pronouncements otherwise I do not mind them going to court.

"The court will ask you: "it is usually the incumbent that rigs, why would somebody who is not an incumbent now rig and defeat you in your ward"?

He said that none of the APC Senators or House of Representative members, including former governor, Mr Segun Oni, won in their polling booths, not even former Governor Segun Oni.

Fayose, however, commended the incumbent governor for the bold step taken in conceding defeat, though it was meant to induce public sympathy.

He said though he would run an inclusive government he would only work with those who were willing to work with him.

"With due respect, I know APC more than you, I will not shoot myself in the leg before I start so I will rather let us leave it as it is.

"It is our government but we will make sure they have their say; minority will have their say, majority will have their way. We will make sure that there is an environment for them to operate as credible opposition to government."

A devoted couple who never spent a day apart in 68 years of marriage died just 10 hours apart.

George Doughty, 91, was in intensive care with a chest infection when his wife Dorothy, 92, suddenly died.

Mr Doughty then passed away just hours later - he did not know his wife had been admitted.

Mr Doughty, and Victor were at school together in Somerset and in the same regiment.

After Victor was killed, Mr Doughty wrote to give commiserations to the young widow and love blossomed during the hardship of war.

Mr Doughty arranged to travel up to meet her in her home town of Stalybridge.

They met for the first time at Manchester Piccadilly railway station - he said he would be carrying a newspaper and Mrs Doughty held a rose.

After getting married the couple had two sons Allan and Paul.

Mr Doughty returned to work as a baker after the war and Mrs Doughty owned a salon with her son Paul in Ashton Under Lyne.

When they retired they focused their life around their family - they have five grandchildren Stuart, Mark, Rachel, Andrew and Adelle and two great-grandchildren Charlotte and Mabel.

They spent their time volunteering at Tameside League of Friends at the hospital and Mrs Doughty also enjoyed being a member of King Georges Bowling Club with her sister, Audrey Stopford, 88.

The couple shared the same wedding anniversary as the Queen and went to London for the Queen's garden party to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in 1997.

Ten years later they celebrated their 60th diamond anniversary surrounded by their family and friends.

Mr Doughty was admitted to Tameside Hospital with pneumonia on 21 May and moved to intensive care where he was sedated on 23 May.

His wife was then admitted to a general ward on 24 May, but because she had shingles she was not permitted to visit her husband in intensive care.

Mrs Doughty contracted an infection, and unable to fight the virus, she died June 1 at 2.30pm.

Her husband then passed away 2 June at 12.30am.

Their son Paul said: 'So many people have said to us that there is comfort in knowing that they were together right at the end.

'They didn't know each other had passed and didn't have that stress. It came as such a shock.

'They were just two lovely people who were very family orientated and wanted to be involved in everything.

'They'd been married for 68 years and they were always together - they never spent a day apart.'

Their funeral took place last week at St James' Church in Ashton-under-Lyne.

Their coffins lay side by side - hers topped with the newspaper and his, a rose.

There was in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Wednesday, as residents of Ogoloto in the area stormed a church (names withheld) and razed it down following alleged discovery of a dead baby and four skulls in a bag found with a woman, Rosemary Chuckwu.

She was said to have confessed that she was sent by the pastor of the church.

The residents gathered in groups on the streets, while business activities were paralysed as policemen took control of the Ikorodu Road when the Nigerian Tribune visited the area of the incident.

Eyewitness accounts said the woman was discovered by some residents, who were said to have mobilised others to the church following the alleged confession by the woman that she was sent by the pastor.

The enraged residents, who, on getting to the church, reportedly could not find the pastor, was said to have resorted to setting it on fire before the police came to dispatch them.

Policemen were still on standby as of the time of filing this report, while the residents had also refused to leave the streets.

Five people suspected to have been linked with the 'den' have been arrested in connection with the discovery.

Angry residents of the area and hoodlums clashed with anti-riot policemen, who were drafted to the scene during several attempts to set the church on fire.

The residents, mostly youths, had, however, vandalised the church building before policemen were drafted to the scene to curtail further attack on the church.

The pastor of the church was alleged to have escaped after the news of the arrest of the woman filtered to him.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that it all started around 8.00 a.m. on Wednesday when vigilant members of the public accosted a Chuckwu, who was carrying a 'Ghana-Must-Go' bag.

After a thorough search on the bag, it was reported that one lifeless body of a child and another child with twine on his legs and hands, later identified as Kelvin, were discovered in the bag.

The woman allegedly confessed to the irate crowd that she actually kidnapped the children for ritual purposes, but named the pastor as the mastermind of the act.

A resident of Majidun, who simply identified himself as Femi, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune, said "the church used to hold a special programme every Tuesday and a large crowd of people do attend, but most members of the church are women.

"We found a boy that was properly tied with twine in the Ghana-Must-Go bag and when we began to torture her, she confessed that she was sent by the pastor of that church."

He also added that "when we searched around that church, we saw a man in chain and we discovered some sculls of people, that might have been killed for ritual purposes."

Another resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, also confirmed that a man was also rescued near the church vicinity with chains in his hands and legs.

The resident, however, stated that there was uncertainty over the sanity of the rescued man, with suggestions that he might be insane.

The arrested woman claimed that she was in bondage under the runaway pastor and that the pastor insisted that the only way she could be freed was for her to find a replacement.

The situation became very chaotic when policemen tried to prevent the crowd from gaining access into the church.

Currently Davido is popular all over Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Zimbabwe and his home country, Nigeria. He seems to have a plan, trying to conquer his continent before moving to the world. Wizkid is forgetting that the foreign world doesn't have anything for him.
All his crap lyrics "lelelele and yaaga" and things won't make the cut. If I was him, I would learn a lot from D'Banj's failure.

Davido is a son of a billionaire, if not, a millionaire and he's been probably living a lavish life since childhood but he has defied that fact and trying his best to join his dad.
Davido makes a whopping $50,000 per show and has made his own money, unlike Wizkid, he goes to instagram and twitter just to act like he's a millionaire already when I'm perfectly sure he's far from that. We are not surprised, poor people always want to be something they are not.
No doubt, Wizkid has made it but even Mike Tyson who was once worth 300 million dollars plus is now broke how much more a musician from Africa who is not worth a million dollars SMH!

DAVIDO – MADE IT ON HIS OWN (VERSATILE)

Davido started it all off with his "HKN Gang" unlike Wizkid, he came through Banky W who made sure the world knows about Wizkid's talents.
Just like most of our African artistes, he felt cheated and decided to form his own StarBoi label and even planned to leave Banky W's label. Greediness??? You tell us?

WIZKID IS JUST LUCKY, DAVIDO IS THE BUSINESS

If you listen to Wizkid's songs very well, his songs lacks substance, it's the same usual "one word chorus" like Ginger, The Matter, Caro but Davido spans through all the genres from Highlife, Dance, Afrobeats like Skelewu, Aye, Gobe, One Of A Time and more hits in his short time of being in the industry. Davido also take advantage of all artistes (both underground and made artistes in different countries) and work with them unlike Wizkid, even if you invite him, he would have to like your product first before he feature on it. Davido immediately shot another video to his hit song "Skelewu" after fans complained about it, if it was Wizkid, he would have insulted the fans.
Davido have songs with Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Diamond, Mafikizolo and counting. Not forgetting most of Wizkid's hit songs were freestyles and unplanned.

Twenty suspected members of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, were arrested in Enugu on Wednesday after a commercial bus conveying them was intercepted by security operatives.

The bus was reportedly stopped at Obollo Afor in the Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

It was learnt that the bus, with registration number AKD816XG, was conveying the alleged insurgents from Aba in Abia State to the northern part of the country.

Our correspondent learnt that the bus was intercepted by policemen in a team of the National Task Force on Small Arms, Ammunitions and Light Weapons.

The commercial bus, which was said to belong to a popular private commercial company, was impounded by security operatives pending further investigation.

Also, our correspondent learnt that the security operatives recovered arms, as well as bags containing army uniforms and other items, from the suspects.

Enugu State police commissioner, Mohammed Abubakar, confirmed the arrest.

Abubakar said that he had ordered the task force team to transfer the suspects from Obolo Affor to the police headquarters in Enugu.

The suspects had already been locked up at the state police headquarters in Enugu as of the time of this report.

Meanwhile, the police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ebere Maraizu, who confirmed the detention of the suspects, said there was the possibility that the suspects were not members of Boko Haram.

The police spokesman said the suspects were traders, although he noted that military camouflage uniforms were recovered from some of them.

He explained that the suspects were being interrogated to enable the police ascertain where they were heading to and how the military camouflage uniforms came into their possession.

It must have been the grace of God that saved Pastor Avanti Jonas and his wife, Alice who escaped the bomb explosion that rocked the federal capital territory this evening leaving scores dead and many injured. It was a gory scene as rescue workers had to rush victims to the Abuja general hospital in droves.

National Enquirer gathered that the Pastor and his wife who got married last year, 2013 had gone to pick just few stuff at the popular, Emab Plaza which was the original target of the suicide bombers before it escalated and spread to Banex. And since the couple wasn't buying so much, they agreed that the wife sit back in front of their Toyota 4 x 4 truck which was parked directly opposite the plaza while the Pasto- hubby quickly dashed in.

And no sooner the Pastor left the shopping center than the bomb exploded and the man of God escaped by the whiskers thinking that his wife had been caught in the web of the disaster. According to an eye witness account, the pastor had even started mourning his wife, crying uncontrollably at the sight of a corpse which looked like his wife until he saw the watch on the woman left wrist, he was later convinced the corpse was not his wife.

Meanwhile, the wife too was so confused and thought her husband had perished in the bomb blast but as fate would have it, they finally saw each other and gave thanks to the Almighty. The wife, we gathered had to run for dear life by squeezing herself out of the window of the truck, the windshield got shattered and the truck was almost a total wreck. The couple who run Hephzibah church located in Kado area of Abuja has since been full of praise for the amazing wonder and second chance the Lord has given them.

Hailemariam Desalegn, the visiting Prime Minister of Ethiopia on Wednesday said members of the radical Islamist sect, Boko Haram operating in Nigeria as well as the Al-Shabab operating in East Africa, get their funding from outside Africa.

The envoy, who is on a two-day visit to Nigeria, made this known while speaking at a joint press conference with President Goodluck Jonathan in State House, Abuja.

According to him, terrorists resorted to suicide bombing because the government was winning the fight against insurgency. He stressed the need for leaders whose countries have been worse hit to cooperate to fight insurgency, adding that for the past 10 years the East African region had been fighting terrorism but needed more efforts in order to completely flush out terrorism from on African continent.

"You know terrorism is not African agenda only. There has been terror attack in Boston, United States and many parts of the globe. So, it is not something that is new to Nigeria, Ethiopia and other African countries. It is a global phenomenon and you see that there was terror attack in Iraq recently and is expanding. We have to see it as a global phenomenon that has to be tackled together in unison. It should not be left to this or that region or this or that country. We have to bear in mind the genesis of this terrorism" Desalegn said.

The Ethiopian leader Nigeria and his country had reached an agreement on the fight against terror with the countries' chiefs of staff working on the modalities.

"We are working as one with Kenya to fight this terrorism and the chiefs of staff are in Nairobi, discussing how to fight this issue as we speak" he said.

Responding, President Jonathan pointed out that Ethiopia had a longer history of terrorism when compared to us, and hinted that Nigeria had a lot to learn from the East African country's experience.

Jonathan and Desalegn agreed that both countries would continue to exchange high level visits in order to promote and deepen mutual understanding as well as the cooperation that would bring permanent solution to the lingering war of terrorism in the African continent.

Meanwhile, this week Nigeria has been under massive attacks from unidentified gunmen and suspected sect members. in southern Kaduna, the country capital Abuja, the troubled Borno as well as Adamawa states.

Ghana Football Association has had to kick out two of their top stars, Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng due to indiscipline.

A statement on GFA's website read that both players "have been suspended indefinitely".

This comes as a shock to the west African nation hoping to make the round of 16 for the second time in their history.

Ghana needs to beat Portugal this evening and hope Germany beats USA to qualify.

Boateng, of Schalke 04 was kicked out for insulting the National team coach Kwesi Appiah in their Maceio training ground.

While AC Milan's Sulley Muntari was thrown out, for what the FA described as "unprovoked physical attack on an executive committee member".

29 year-old Muntari on tuesday allegedly assaulted Moses Armah (member of the team management) and Boateng did not want to apologize for his actions.

Ghana's government had yesterday sent $3m (£1.8m) in a chartered plane to Brazil, to pay the players large appearance fees because the team had threatened to boycott today's crucial game against Portugal.

Muntari was expected not to participation in today's game as he was disqualified after getting his second yellow of the tournament against Portugal.

This new development will definitely make the team's task of qualifying for the next round harder than expected.

Before TV programme, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, who was Frank Edoho?

Frank was an On-Air-Personality. I cut my teeth in Radio Nigeria, Metro FM; they sent me on training in year 2000. I came back to become a radio announcer. I studied every aspect of broadcasting; news, news reading, commentary, documentary and voice over presentation. So, before I started " Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", I was into radio broadcasting. I was an announcer on Metro FM. 97.6 and it was a fabulous pedestal that prepared me for upcoming projects in broadcasting. Little did I know that just around the corner, WWTBAM will come calling. So, I was just a lesser known radio announcer, and I enjoyed that anonymity until WWTBAM came on board, and everything changed.

Asides WWTBAM, what other things that occupy your time?

I do everything related to broadcasting; I do program production and I take myself to be more of a producer than a presenter because in broadcasting, presenting is a lazy job. Everybody does it for you. In WWTBAM for instance, we have all the structures in place; we have the studio, the executive producer, we have a director and we even have a sponsor, MTN, which provides the finance.
Everything is set and all the presenter has to do is to walk in, sit down and say 'Good evening Nigeria'. So, I consider myself as a producer, but not on a very large scale, especially on TV. Radio is my first love and I am into lots of radio projects, events, production projects and consultancy.

WWTBAM is already 10 years. Considering the fact that many TV game shows didn't last this long, how would you describe the game show, with respect to its consistency?
Well, the major factor that has made the show consistent for ten years, are the people behind it; they pay attention to details. The producers always say we should adopt the strategy of continuous improvement, and that's what we have been doing. Every time a season ends, we do a review. We tell ourselves that we are doing well, but we could be better. So, in which areas do we need to do more work? We do a post mortem of the penultimate season and we use that as a benchmark for the next show. It is very challenging because many people have been watching this show for ten years and the show has become a template. We try to tweak the variables of the show, so that every season turns out to be like a brand new season.

Let's talk about the values that this show offers: Entertainment, education and empowerment. Which of these would you describe as the strongest point of the show?
I think the show's strongest point is its underlying philosophy that you have to work for what you earn. There is no free lunch, especially for the Nigerian youth who don't believe in putting work into any prospect. They want to drive that flashy car but not prepared to put in any effort. It's okay to dream but you need to work for it. I think they get off the rail towards their destination and toe the dubious direction. It looks like it's easy to answer fifteen questions and get ten million naira. But when you see the drama and what goes into it, you will know this is work. So, ten million naira doesn't come easy, no wonder we've only had one ten million naira winner. So, I think the philosophy of the show is that we want to entertain, we want to educate but most importantly, we want to pass on the subliminal message that you have to work, to earn the prize.

Could you share some of the memorable moments you have had as the producer of WWTBAM?
I have two memorable moments; the first was when Aruoma Ufodike clinched the ultimate prize of ten million naira. WWTBAM is designed to safeguard fraud. I see the questions for the first time when everyone is seeing it. I don't have fore knowledge of the questions, for security reasons. Also, my demeanor will show that I am seeing the question for the first time. And when the questions pop up, the answer is not there. So when I see the question and the options, sometimes I am mulling in my head, what the answer is. So the day the ten million naira was won, I knew the answer to the question, but I had to keep my composure because I knew we were on the brink of history.

I had a dead pan expression on my face, a poker face that I had developed for the past ten years. The guy phoned a friend, the friend said he was one hundred percent sure, that was the answer. Aruoma said he trusts his friend, so I locked it in and said you know if you are wrong, you stand to lose N4.75m. The guy said ok. So I locked it in and he won N10m! The episode where I had the other memorable moment was not aired. The contestant was acting like he had mental issues. I will ask him a question; he will stare right into my eyes and ask me the same question, instead of responding with an answer. Initially, I thought he was trying to be funny, but after a while, I knew something was amiss. Those were the two moments.

From your experience anchoring the game show for 10 years, do you subscribe to the general opinion that our youth are not interested in reading as it was the case back in the days?
It is the solution to the problem that has now become the problem. Let me put it this way: those days we didn't have a lot of technology, we didn't have social media and we didn't have many distractions, so one of the ways you could entertain yourself, is to carry a novel by Jeffery Archer and read. The ladies will pick Mills and Boon. I used to read pace setters, when we had writers like Helen Ovbiageli who wrote for Vanguard Newspaper. Since we didn't have electricity to indulge in a lot of things, all you had to do was pick up a book and read; and we borrowed novels, swapped and read. Then technology came and took over and we now have many distractions. We must have missed it somewhere along the line, because even in the developed societies, they still read and their culture enables it. Someone in the UK is going to work in the train, what does he use to pass time? He opens a book and reads. Now, in Nigeria you are in a hold up, you are driving yourself because you can't afford a driver. How are you going to read? You get to work at 8 am and you work till 7pm, especially in Lagos. On weekends, you just sleep or maybe you go to the cinema and see a movie and then before you know it, it is Monday again. Our lifestyle doesn't allow us to read, it's a deterrent.

Talking about sponsorship, MTN has been the sole sponsor of WWTBAM for quite a considerable length of time. Does part of the credit for its consistency, go to the sponsors?
Yes, let's give MTN credit, because for a company to realize the potential of a programme, they must have tried it for a period of time. You know they can say, "our job is done here, we have tried on this sponsorship, let's just leave it, since we are already synonymous with WWTBAM". But they still insist that even though it's been on for ten years, there is still potential in it. WWTBAM is the longest airing game show on Nigerian Television, and MTN has made it so. We only hope that other corporate bodies will follow suit in other aspects like entertainment. Whether you like it or not, entertainment is a vehicle for change. A lady approached me sometime back and asked me to talk to her son, I asked her why. She said the boy is very stubborn but she needs me, to come to her house and talk to the boy. He is intelligent but he doesn't read and he is wayward. But anytime WWTBAM is showing on TV, he is very attentive. So I said alright, and I paid the boy a visit one evening. When the boy saw me, he couldn't believe it! I started talking to him. The mother called me two weeks ago and told me about the boy's progress. Maybe I had something to do with it, but the boy changed. So that's why I said entertainment is a vehicle of change in the society but people haven't realized it. When we started WWTBAM, it was quite challenging. There were many slots for sponsorship, but very few organizations turned up. When MTN came, all that changed. MTN saw all the potential and said they will take all the slots and they are still taking everything till today. So without MTN, the show wouldn't have been this massive.

Punch reports: on Tuesday June 24th carried out a deadly attack on a military post in Bulabulin Ngaura in Damboa LGA of Borno killing 16 soldiers, Punch reports.

According to one of the soldiers who escaped and spoke on anonymity to journalists, he said the sect men came in 30 vehicles mounted with anti-aircraft guns, caught them unawares and subdued them

"We were totally subdued by the insurgents. Some of my colleagues were abducted and many others escaped with bullet wounds. Dozens of Boko Haram insurgents stormed our checkpoint at Bulabulin on Tuesday night. The terrorists came in a convoy of over 30 vehicles, mounted with Anti Aircraft guns (AA). I was at the checkpoint when the terrorists came, we tried our best but they had advantage over us. They had AA and we had Ak47 rifles that are not fully loaded. When we realized that they had taken over the place, some of us escaped to Maiduguri and other places but many could not make it. As I am talking to you, 16 bodies of our colleagues have been brought to Maiduguri, this is apart from those that sustained injuries and many others that are missing." he said

The Liverpool striker was caught on camera biting the Italy defender during the match the South Americans won 1-0 courtesy of a solitary goal scored by Diego Godin.

While commenting on the incident in an interview conducted by local reporters after his country's win which took them through to the knockout rounds, Suares played down the latest incident as 'just something that happens on the pitch'.

The player who plays in the English Premier League, and who has twice been banned for biting an opponent, said: "These situations arise on the pitch, I've collided with his shoulder. It drove me a little crazy too, but these things happen on the pitch. There's no need to make a story out of it."

Also, Suarez's lawyer, Alejandro Balbi, has blamed England and Italy for the hype surrounding the Uruguayan striker's latest controversy.

However, Balbi has confirmed that they are working on a defence and has insisted the confrontation has been blown out of proportion as a result of the Liverpool man's history.

Football governing body, FIFA, has confirmed disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the Uruguayan forward, who could be banned for up to two year over the incident.

FIFA is expected to give a verdict on the alleged Suarez biting incident on Thursday, 26 June, 2014.

Meanwhile, many football fans and pundits are united in their view Suarez should receive a lengthy ban for yet another apparent biting offence.

Former England defender Danny Mills has gone a step further – insisting the Uruguayan should be 'thrown in jail and locked up forever'.

"I usually sell herbs at the Ile Epo Market. It was one Waheed Ajigbotoloun that introduced selling human parts to me. That was just last year October. He was my supplier too, and he told me he used to get them from Joju Cemetery in Sango Ota, Ogun State.

"I didn't always buy the human parts except when there was a request for them from my customers. Upon request, I have bought human skulls and meat from him for my customers. Some of them are pastors, imams, and native doctors too.

I have sold human parts to two pastors this year, but I cannot remember the names of their churches."The first pastor I sold to is based in Sango Otta, Ogun State. He paid me N24,500 for the parts. The clerics use these to make their congregations move forward. I also use some of the parts to make charm powder.I am not the only seller in the market. There is also one Lukman, who we popularly call Oosa. But since I started, I have bought only six human skulls."

Olakunle claimed to have finished from the Lagos State University in February 2013 where he studied Accounting. He added that he financed his university education with proceeds from the sale of herbs and human parts

Forty-year-old Oyebamiji who hails from Ibadan, Oyo State, also confessed to have sold human parts to many people.

"I have been a trader at the Oja Oba Market for the past three years. It is not that I sell only human parts. However, each of the part I sold went for between N6,000 and N7,000. The supplier told me he was getting them from the cemetery. I have sold five to six pieces. I know it was wrong to do this, but I was looking for money."

For Opeyemi, who is a 51-year-old native doctor from Ikirun, Osun State, he bought the human parts to cure one of his patients in the past.

"I am an Alhaji and also a star reader. I had called prayers several times at a mosque in the Ajegunle. I used the human parts only once for the treatment of one of my patients. The boy was cured and I never bought human parts from anyone again," he said.
