Not Again! BREAKING: 60 Girls,aged 3 to 12 Kidnapped in Borno State Today

According to a report on NTANetwork, about sixty girls between the ages of 3-12 years have been abducted by insurgents in Kummabza village of Damboa local government area of Borno State.

Reports from the area indicate that the insurgents also killed about thirty people and destroyed property worth millions of naira during an attack on the community. Residents of the village are reportedly taking refuge in Lassa and Gulak in Adamawa State and they have appealed to the authorities to provide them with shelter and relief materials to reduce their sufferings.

Ghanaian fans at the on-going Fifa World Cup in Brazil are crying to return home immediately even though Ghana can qualify to the next stage of the competition.

Ghanaian supporters were found sleeping on the bare floor with no covers to fight the cold that comes at night whilst others, simply take a sitting posture to hit the sack.

How To become a superstar in Nigeria!

 If your desire is to become a Nigerian music superstar that could rival the likes of 2face Idibia, BankyW, MI, D'Banj, Wizkid, Davido and all the other big boys in stardom this year, I say SHOUT Seven hallelujahs because the secret is here. The secrets which I shall reveal below are guaranteed to make you a big boy musician in Nigeria if you can follow them to the letter even if you have never recorded any single at the moment. Just pay attention to these tips and the safety precautions below and you are set to shine.
 
1.  Diss somebody: Did I just advise you to launch your music career by dissing somebody? YES I just did that. This trick of dissing somebody has been working for decades and it is so surprising that many young wannabe musicians have not been using it. This strategy  was the selling point of many old artistes from the time of Fatai Olowoyo and Ayinla Omowura and has been put to good use by the likes of Kollington and Barrister amongst many others of the their contemporaries.

The current crop of fuji musicians have learnt this and as you can remember now, they make cool dough from dissing one another.

Now that you understand, let me tell you how this trick works. You diss another musician, based on his music, dress sense, diction and many other things under the sun and if you do it well people will spread the news because Nigerians like fights be it virtual or physical.  They will help you spread the news and voila you've climbed the first rung of the ladder of fame.

Safety Precaution: Do not pick on record label owners or an artiste that is much bigger than you or one with demigod status because his fans might act like voltrons and that's bad business.  If you think it's a lie, ask one "Handsome" musician like that.



2.  Autotune is your friend: My friend, if you BELIEVE that 2013 is your year to make it in the music industry but your voice sounds like a damaged woofer, don't worry, AUTOTUNE is your friend.   Do not bother you head with vocal lessons, leave that one for all those church singers, autotune will perform wonders for you. The same way Photoshop makes a pimples-laden girl look like a model, so can Autotune make you sound like a Whitney Houston even if Ja Rule has a better voice than you.

Safety precaution: Do not ever fall into the trap of singing live if autotune is your backbone. Avoid all those TV presenters that would ask you to do a "little freestyle" on air.  Be smart enough to develop cough or sore throat when going to that TV or radio station where they can ask you to sing live.



3.  Miming: From tip 2 above, we know that you cannot sing but we don't want to come for your shows to hear you telling us to "throw your hands up in the air". Take time to learn how to mime to your own songs so well that your mouth will be in perfect sync with the music we hear anytime you're on stage.  Know that your fans watch your mouth and if it doesn't rhyme with the voice, you will be exposed. The simple way to this is to rehearse in front of a mirror several times daily till you can mime the song perfectly.

Safety Precaution: When miming ensure to put the microphone off and on at intervals so that we can at least hear your voice for a little time. That will convince us more that you are a performer.



4.  Videos:  Make sure that your videos are very appealing to the eyes. To do a good video you will need the services of a good director so you had better start saving money now to help your cause. The presence of semi-nude girls in your video would also help in selling your video even if the song would make more sense without their presence.

Safety Precaution:  Know that the days of black and white pictures are over except you're portraying old school music.



5.  Collabos: Beg if you have to, pay if that's what is required and make sure that you do a song with one of the industry heavyweights. It does not matter if his verse or lyrics on that song have nothing to do with what you sang in the song just make sure that you get a big name to feature in your song. I'm sure that if people would not listen to the song because of you, they'd listen because of your collaborator.

Precaution: Do not allow them push you aside in your own song and make sure you don't allow words like "LaBunzo (if that's your name) dey for corner".  Haba! It's your own song and you cannot be in one corner in your own song.

6. Develop an accent: Every Nigerian musician has an accent these days so you have to develop an accent too. It could be the British accent, the American, French and even the Chinese accent. Make sure you know how to use all those annoying unnecessary pause words like innit, you know, I mean and the like or how else are we to know that you've been to other countries.

Precaution: Wait till you make your first trip outside the country before you develop these accents. It does not matter even if it is only an overnight trip,  just make sure you go overseas before you import your accent.

7. Get a tattoo: You are about to become a star so do what stars do and get a tattoo. Make sure your tattoo is in a very visible part of your body and use every opportunity to display the tattoo. You could write your nickname, your name or even a song as your tattoo, it's all part of the game.

Precaution:  Make sure your tattoo is beautiful and well done. Your fans don't want to see partially washed off tattoo or your tattoo looking like a badly done  water colour project so do it right.

 8. Lyrics: Nobody listens to your lyrics nowadays so you don't need my help here. Just make sure that your lyrics are catchy and there is one word that everybody can remember in the song. It could be a part of the body (waist, head), an adverb (every time) or even a threat to the enemies. The catchier your phrase is, the faster your rise to stardom.

Anti-G@y Law: US Sanctions Uganda, Stop Aids & Bans Ugandan Officials From Visiting The US!

Less than one week after the United States of America sanctioned Uganda over its anti g@y laws, the East African country has started feeling the pain.

The US last week froze some aid programmes and cancelled military air exercises and barred entry to the US for specific Ugandan officials involved in "human rights abuses", including against the g@y community.

Uganda warned today that the sanction would harm the "most vulnerable" in the country.

In February, Ugandan President Museveni signed a law calling for life jail term for homos*xuals in the country.

"Uganda considers this announcement by the US regrettable as some of the halted funding and programmes in Uganda are those that will affect the most vulnerable people that the US government purports to support and aims to protect," the foreign affairs ministry said in statement.

US Secretary of State John Kerry has likened the Ugandan law to anti-Semitic legislation in Nazi Germany.

Why dem no sanction Nigeria, Africa's richest country?

Sad! House fire kills Husband &wife, four children! [Photo]

Tragedy struck in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital on Saturday, when a fire outbreak claimed the lives of a couple and their four children.

The fire, which was said to have been ignited by an explosion, took the lives of the victims while they were asleep.

Though the identity of the couple could not be immediately ascertained, the father of the four children was a taxi driver while his wife was a petty trader.

SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that the incident, which occurred around 1.45am, also affected a large part of the building located at No. 17, New Estate Road, Railway Quarters.

Property worth millions of naira was also lost to the inferno that engulfed the eight-flat building.

It was gathered that the children of the couple,  (three boys and a girl) were of ages 22, 17, nine and seven before they met their untimely death.

An eyewitness said two other children had travelled out of Port Harcourt to sit for their West African Senior School Certificate Examination when the incident happened.

However, the landlord of the building (name withheld), who spoke on the incident, stated that he was woken up by a sound, adding that the whole building was on fire before he could realise what had happened.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, the landlord said it would have been better for the house to be razed than for the inferno to kill six persons in one fell swoop.

"It is unfortunate and heart bleeding. It would have been better for the whole compound to burn than to lose the six family members," he said.

A tenant, who identified himself as Victor, explained that the inferno began from the victims' flat before spreading to other flats.

According to him, while their neighbours were able to escape, the victims could not because they were already fast asleep when the fire became intense.

Residents of the area where the incident occurred wailed the moment sympathisers mentioned the names of the children affected by the fire.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Angela Agabe, said she was aware of the incident but had yet to get details from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area.

According to Wasaafrica ''The Nigerian match against Bosnia and Herzegovina is stirring up all kinds of controversy.


With match fixing allegations trailing Nigerian from the build up matches to the World Cup, another malpractice allegations has reared its ugly head after an awkward picture was posted online following their 1-0 win over Bosnia.

The alleged picture shows the referee of the game Peter O'Leary celebrating with Nigeria after the final whistle; Peter Odemwingie's goal helped the Super Eagles secure their 1-0 victory. O'Leary was also slammed for ruling out a goal in the 20thminute of the game which was said to be offside.

A petition has been launched to cancel the results of the game and they are asking for a re-match.



*Huh? I watched that match and Nigeria won clearly.....so someone please explain how a fixed match looks like....

2face Idibia Slams N100 Million Lawsuit against Icon!

2face Idibia has slammed a N100million suit against soft-sell magazine, Icon Weekly, for libel. The Media/Entertainment Law Firm of L & A- Legal Consultants has filed libel proceedings on behalf of  2face, at the Ikeja High Court asking the court to award their client the sum of N100million being damages for the libelous publication posted on the magazine's online and print platforms.

In March this year, Icon alleged that 2face committed adultery by impregnating a 'Lagos top banker' who is supposedly his account officer in one of the new generation banks and that infact, the lady had every intention of keeping the baby. The story went viral, which 2face later denied.

A source close to the music icon said the story, which was found to be false, made 2face lose a very lucrative deal and caused ripples between him and his wife. Icon weekly is said to have approached 2face's team for discussions on a possible out of court settlement.

The father of music superstar 2face Idibia was recently diagnosed with prostrate cancer. 2face himself revealed itthis month while speaking at a cancer charity event at the Eko Hotel, in Lagos.
The good news is that he Mr Idibia was diagnosed early and has started the required treatment.
"He is fine and there is really no problem. He was diagnosed early and he has started the required  treatment. He will be fine. It is just one of those things. The family will get through it. The whole family is behind him and most importantly God is behind him too." 2face said

Six Nigerians Arrested In Ghana for forging letterheads of the Office of the President of Ghana! [PHOTO]

Six Nigerians have been arrested for allegedly forging letterheads of the Office of the President and other state institutions to defraud people.

They are Paul Kelvin, 20; Wallace Darden Odon, 28; Osamidiamwen Ikecheku Emeka, 24; Prince Ejime, 19; Charles Chinedu, 32, and Adebayoo Alaba Saheed, 21.

They are all unemployed.

They have since been charged with forging documents and signatures and posing as state officials, and because they gave false names to the police during interrogation, they have also been charged with deceit of public officers.

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Accra Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Mr Paul Kontomah, said the suspects were arrested in a house at Ayensu Estate, near Adenta in Accra, on June 9, 2014.

Among the letters retrieved from the suspects was one directing a former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to take his compulsory leave for Mr Mohammed Alhassan, the current IGP, to take over the position.

There were also certificates signed by the Minister of the Interior, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, to prove the origins of some American citizens, as well as High Court disclaimer forms.

Arrested while browsing

Mr Kontomah said the police, acting on intelligence that the young men were involved in criminal activities, swooped on them in the early hours of June 9 "and we found them busy browsing the Internet in their room with laptops".

He said prior to the arrest of the suspects, residents of the area had filed complaints with the police that a group of young men in the house had been harassing them in the night.

On the day of the arrest, the police retrieved eight laptops and a search on them led to the retrieval of a number of forged documents from state institutions, including forged ones from the Office of the President, the High Court, the Ghana Police Service, the Value Added Tax division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, among other institutions.

He said the suspects used the documents to facilitate illegal electronic transaction and lure people to part with money.

It was also found that the men posed as military officers of the United States of America in war zones to defraud people.

In addition to the eight laptops retrieved from the suspects, a quantity of dried substances believed to be Indian hemp was also found on them.

IGP's appointment letter

One of the letters on the letterhead of the Office of the President and purportedly signed by Dr Raymond A. Atuguba, the Executive Secretary to the President, read: "His Excellency the President has given approval for Mr Paul Tawiah Quaye, the Inspector-General of Police, to commence his compulsory 90-day terminal leave from February 5-4 May 2013.

"He has further directed that Mr Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, is to act as Inspector-General of Police until further notice.

"On behalf of the people of Ghana, His Excellency the President wishes to thank Mr Quaye for the invaluable services he rendered to the state during his career and especially his tenure of office as Inspector-General of Police."

I am very much single.

¤What if your man asks you to stop acting?
When we get to that bridge, we will cross it. The man hasn't come yet, but if he wants me to stop acting, he should better have a Plan B that will wow me.

That is a big lie. I cut my coat according to my material. If I can't afford something, I make do with what I can.

One of the leading Nigerian comedians, Julius Chinweikpe Agwu, who debuted in the entertainment in 1993, when he started off as an actor, has disclosed that he is yet to experience a thorough change in life with his comedy business.

Speaking on what comedy hasn't done for him, the Theatre Arts graduate claims comedy hasn't given him the kind of money he wants. But he stated that he is contented with his present status, adding that the success he has achieved through comedy has not changed who he is.

According to the 41-year-old indigene of Choba in Rivers State, he still retains his old friends, disclosing that he is still the Choba boy who started from a humble beginning that has not forgot his roots, despite living in a 'choice areas' in Lagos.

The showbiz entrepreneur and creator of the fast growing music genre 'music comedy' further confessed that comedy has helped to transform his life.

Suicide bomber kills 3 soldiers in Borno, Boko Haram kills 40 in Fresh attack!

Three soldiers were reportedly killed yesterday June 22nd after a suicide bomber suspected to be from the Boko Haram sect attacked a military post near a Secondary school in Gwoza, Borno state.

Vanguard reports the suicide bomber drove through Wala and Warabe villages before getting to the military post where the bomb detonated and a loud sound immediately followed, with the vehicle the suicide bomber rode in and other things in the attack scene destroyed.

One of the residents of the area, Mallam Usman Yaro who spoke with Vanguard said residents of the area were still asleep when the bomb detonated. Continue..

"We were woken up with a bomb blast on the road near the school, some of us started to run for safety while others fled into the school and hill tops of Gwoza. I cannot tell you the exact casualties but three soldiers fell on the road side while others took to their heels for safety, as the car that contained explosives ripped into pieces to create a deep crater near the post. None of the civilians was killed as people were still asleep when the suicide bomber detonated the explosives that killed him and three soldiers."

In a related development, suspected Boko Haram men over the weekend attacked Chuha A Chuha B and Korongilim villages in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, killing 40 people including teenagers. According to one of the community leaders, Mallam Yakubu Joshua, the attack which lasted 5 hours, started 7am

"Some suspected Boko Haram terrorists invaded Chuha A, Chuha B and Korongilim villages of Chibok council of Borno State and killed over 40 persons. The terrorists injured many other villagers, burnt many houses and made away with our foodstuff. The attack, which commenced at 7a.m. yesterday lasted over five hours before military intervened. I and some other residents of Chibok had made several telephone calls to the military, unfortunately they (military) only started bombing the surrounding area of the attack after over 40 members of our community had been killed. The lifeless bodies of our people are still littered in the three villages as I speak, but our present fear is that many innocent villagers may be hit by the ongoing bombings by the military." he said.

Fayose also made a mountain about living among the people. In all the years he was away from office, he never left Ekiti. He did not become a Lagos or Abuja politician and the people noted it. That was why there was a chant of 'Ghana Must Go' a few days to the election - referring to where Governor Fayemi resided at a point in time. Did Fayemi engage in town hall sessions across Ekiti constantly through his tenure? If he did, were they effective? Our politics in the South-West still remains rudimentary and that is why any touch of populism will carry the day.

Governor Fayemi practically lived and campaigned on social media. He ran a very effective FACEBOOK and twitter campaign. You can never fault him for taking advantage of technology. However, twitter does not vote and most FACEBOOK activists don't come out to vote. When Governor Fayemi assembled bloggers from Lagos and brought them to Ekiti to assess his performance, I knew he was embarking on a fruitless exercise. The bloggers could only influence the opinion of those who read them and how many people actually read them in Isan, Ijan, Erio-Ekiti, Iworoko and other less-city towns?

3. When You Refuse To Make Friends Of A Former Adversary, He Hurts You More Than Ever
This election was APC's to lose. Actually, it should have been a walkover for Governor Fayemi if they had kept Fayose in their corner of the party. Fayose was a major contributor to Fayemi's victory at the last polls. I remember Fayemi published an advertorial thanking Fayose for his efforts. When Fayose's father died, it was widely acknowledged that he carried a signage with the note 'Vote For Fayemi'. When Fayose celebrated his birthday, the who's who in the then ACN were present and they poured accolades on him.
However, he claimed there was an understanding that he will be given a senatorial slot as compensation. This was never honored and he decamped to the Labour Party where he was trounced. He brought in this bruised ego into the political field. When a man's ego suffers, other things bear the consequences. What would it take to cede a slot to 'Oshoko' and let him retire at the Senate? Even the Holy Writ asked us to quickly make friends of our adversaries lest they put us in gaol. APC is now in gaol, politically.

Sad story! How a Heroic 13yr old Nigerian boy dies after trying to save a drowning girl!

13-year-old Ricky Osagie from Warrenstown died on Saturday June 21st following a brave attempt to try to save a girl who had got into trouble swimming in a man-made pond at Waterville Hall residential complex in Blanchardstown, Dublin on Friday June 20th.

According to Irish Mirror, a friend of Ricky's, a teenage girl, got into the water and was almost drowning when Ricky and another female friend jumped into the pond to try to save her. The other teen girl who jumped in to help also now had difficulties in the pond, and it was up to Ricky to save both girls. Which he did. Paramedics were called and all three teens were taken to the hospital. The two girls survived, but Ricky died the next day.

Ricky Osagie was a teenage soccer sensation whose dream was to represent Ireland, his distraught father, Kelly Osagie told the Sunday Irish Mirror. He said Ricky was a hero because he knew he was risking his life when he went into the water as he couldn't swim.
"He was trying to help someone else.That's what happened. My son died a hero. He went in and then that was it. My son is gone but a girl is alive because of him. He always smiled and was happy all the time. He was such a fantastic footballer. We have trophies everywhere in the house. Ricky was going to play for Ireland, that's what he said he was going to do. He had so many friends. He is a hero, a real hero. I want the world to know what my son did. He was a man."
