How Saheed Balogun shunned Fathia Balogun at the Yoruba Movie Academy Awards (YMAA)

What many had expected would be a reunion of sorts between Saheed Balogun and his ex wife, Fathia, did not happen as the two ex lovers did not even greet each other at the recently held Yoruba Movie Academy Awards (YMAA).

The award took place in Ibadan on Sunday at the Civic Centre.

Saheed was on his way out of the event hall when Fathia walked in. Both passed bye each other without uttering a word.

The actor did not say anything when asked why he ignored the actress. He simply walked away smiling as he shook his head.

Many fans had come to show their support for the award that was put together by Laface.

Just as the award could not bring Saheed and Fathia back together, so could it not truly resolve the leadership tussle that has been bugging ANTP.

From the recent show of superiorty that was displayed by the factional leaders of Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) and Theatre Arts Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) at the award. There seems not be an end in sight to the crisis rocking the Yoruba movie industry.

Many had thought that the recent court injunction that declared Ashaolu as the president of ANTP would subdue the leadership tussle that had polarised the association for more than 10 years.

The interim leader of TAMPAN, Yemi Solade, and his ANTP counterpart, Comrade Victor Ashaolu, were both guests at the YMAA awards. Their presence caused a stir as both of them tried to gain superiority over one another.

It was the believe of many that YMAA would unite the warring parties and chart a new begining for the Ashaolu-led regime. However, it didn't take much time before it became obvious that the stakeholders were not at the venue to discuss their differences, but to enjoy the show.

Solade had hinted that he was ready to chart a new course for the new association which broke away from ANTP shortly after court declared Ashaolu the leader of the association.

He insisted that no amount of plea would bring back the former members of ANTP back to the association.

Ashaolu came to the venue with his followers in ANTP, spent few minutes on the red carpet and moved to the VIP session where Adewale Ayuba, DJ Semite, Toyin Adegbola, Jibola Dabur, Dayo Adeneye, Yemi Solade and other guests sat.

Solade, who called on members of the TAMPAN when he mounted the stage, got a favourable response from them. but it was not the same for Ashaolu. Their president did not get same respomse from the crowd compared to Solade's.

Not moved by the development though, Ashaolu continued with his presentation, lauding the organiser of the event for putting up a beautiful show.

Meanwhile, Ashaolu has sworn in electoral members as well as interim officers to some executive offices in the local, state and national levels of the association.

He gave the five members, consisting of electoral members, a two-month ultimatum to organise fresh election and bye elections into all vacant posts.

The electoral members include: Alhaji Kamoru Aremu, from Lagos State chapter, as the chairman; Mr Elijah Afolayan, secretary; while Mr Adegoke Akanbi, Kwara State chapter, Mr Olagoke Olaleye, Osun State chapter and Kehinde Oyeyemi, Ogun State chapter are members of the committee.

A pioneer member of the association, Dr Remi Adedokun, who muted the idea of getting ANTP officially registered, and who is currently on sabbatical leave at the University of Ile Ife, told R that though the crisis rocking the association had been on for years, he said that there were lots of programmes and trainings that were initiated during their time.

"I liaised with the government on the need to support the association which they did, but the problem resurfaced when we stepped aside."

Nollywood will never get tired of churning out incredible but true stories. The newest one that just landed on our laps has to do with a star actress and her movie producer lover.

Both of them had gone on a love tryst to the Canaan land of Calabar in Cross River State. This was on the set of the slim movie producer who hails from Delta State. A chronic womanizer, the man had camped the actress who has a baby (out of wedlock) in one of the hotels. No! They were sharing a room. Firing non-stop after every day's production, news soon got the man's wife in Lagos and without thinking about it twice, she flew down to Calabar where all hell was let loose.

Arriving very early in the morning and taking her husband and his lover unawares, she was on the verge of bringing down the roof of the hotel when some of her husband's production hands aided the actress to escape through the window. But to achieve this, they first took out the room's air-conditioner from behind, and from that outlet, the actress eventually freed herself and was immediately ferried back to Lagos by one of the producer's boys in his car.

Dark skinned and of average height, the actress' first name begins with the seventh alphabet. From the Eastern part of the country, her lover is a father of three, a tacky dresser, but one of the best hands we have around in that sector.

Refusing obstinately to return to Lagos after the actress had escaped, a respected woman of God who is also into movies and based in Calabar had to be invited to talk the now distraught wife into leaving. She, however, first followed the preacher to her house where she was pacified, counseled and ultimately appeased. But back in Lagos, she would neither let her husband nor the actress be.

Things kept deteriorating until the camel's back was finally broken. Now all by herself and giving her all to God, ala being born again, many are still talking about the foolishness of her action. Although her husband seems to care less as he is still frolicking with his numerous other women.

Late last month, Afrocandy had shared on her Facebook page news that her first daughter had been accepted into a university. But right now, Afrocandy is saying she has no money to foot the bills. According to her, she (Afrocandy) had invested all her money in making her soft p^rn movie "Destructive Instinct", with the hope she would get a huge turnover before her daughter's time for college.
Unfortunately, she was messed up by the partners she trusted. Movie was released since January, up until now, not even a dime from her distributors.
Here's what Afrocandy wrote on her Fundraising page. Some people think she's trying to turn to scam now that her soft p^rn movie didn't sell.

"I am a single mother of 2 well behaved, intelligent, smart girls. Moved from Africa in 2005 to join their father who abandoned us after one year of living together. Since then
I've been struggling on my own without support from any particular person except some friends that help out sometimes.
I am not on welfare, don't get child support and not on unemployment. I'm highly talented, I write songs and scripts, edit, produce and even direct. All I need is an opportunity to be discovered.
I've done so many different jobs to sustain us but no matter what I do, it seems like I haven't even started. So I went back into showbiz which is what I was doing b4 I migrated, acted and produced my own movie, after investing all my money with the hope I could get a turn over before my first daughter's time for college, I was messed up by the partners I trusted. Movie was released since January, up until now, not even a dime from the distributors I handed over in Africa.
Now my daughter has been accepted into college, I am going crazy trying to fit the bills, rent, tuition and all other expenses. Please help me now that I am still alive before I lose it.

A 25 year old man, Ben James, from Croydon, South London, is claiming to have wooed hundreds of women into bed using the power of social media.

Ben actually reckons he has bedded over 200 women in a year - by chatting them up on Twitter. All he does is send out saucy messages, 20 tweets a day and he gets hundreds of replies from girls including full-frontal n*ked selfies. He claims two or three of those will ask him for s*x and he has four or five 'tweethearts' on the go at any one time.

He has 74,000 followers on the social network and claims the key to success with the ladies is being cheeky enough to say what nobody else would dare.
According to Ben:

'I'll send out a funny tweet, something edgy, and then it gets retweeted a few hundred times. Every retweet gets me a hundred or so followers, plus a few celebs, and from that I get a bunch of direct messages.

Girls send me hundreds of messages a day. Some send naked pictures, some ask for my phone number; and some ask me straight out for s*x. I normally have about four or five girls on the go at once then I get bored and find some others.

I have a reputation for being a man whore. But if they've got a big bum, I'm interested. I normally just tell a girl I want to sleep with her instead of making her think I want a relationship. I put in some graft for a day - take her to the zoo, or to the park to feed the ducks - and then the next day I move on to another one.'

Ben still lives with his healthcare worker mother and says she doesn't mind sharing her home with Britain's biggest tweetheart. He said:

'My mum doesn't mind. I'm very respectful, at the end of the day. She does think I only have one girl coming round all the time, not lots of different ones. My dad was a player like me when he was younger. He thinks I'm a bit of a legend - I think the apple didn't fall far from the tree.'

Days after his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame and a return to the company after an 18-year breakup, Wrestling legend, The Ultimate Warrior is dead.

According to a statement posted on the WWE website, the late wrestling superstar was 54.

The news, posted late Tuesday night, led to a flood of tributes from fans and WWE performers and officials and comes on the day the WWE released a DVD in Warrior's honor.

In the statement, the company said, "WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior.

"We are grateful just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans. WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior's family, friends and fans."

Warrior was known for his energetic style, sprinting down the aisle to the ring; violent shaking of the ropes to psych himself up; and unique interview style that often left fans unsure of his message.

Warrior was born James Hellwig, but legally changed his name to Warrior in 1993. He is survived by his wife Dana and daughters Indiana and Mattigan, who had accompanied him to the podium at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday night in New Orleans.

In his final public appearance Monday night, Warrior donned the long jacket with his image airbrushed on the back, similar to what he wore during his wrestling days, and put on a mask that looked like his trademark face paint. It was his first appearance on Raw since 1996.

"No WWE talent becomes a legend on their own," he told the crowd. "Every man's heart one day beats its final beat. His lungs breathe their final breath. And if what that man did in his life makes the blood pulse through the body of others and makes them believe deeper in something that's larger than life, then his essence, his spirit, will be immortalized by the storytellers -- by the loyalty, by the memory of those who honor him, and make the running the man did live forever.

"I am the Ultimate Warrior, you are the Ultimate Warrior fans and the spirit of the Ultimate Warrior will run forever."

Warrior began his wrestling career as part of a group of bodybuilders-turned-wrestlers in Southern California. His early career was marked by his work in a tag team known as the Blade Runners with Steve Borden, who would later become Sting. Warrior was known as Blade Runner Rock and Borden as Blade Runner Flash.

His use of the Warrior name came in the Texas-based World Class Championship Wrestling where he worked as the Dingo Warrior and was billed as being from Queens, N.Y.

Warrior came to the then-WWF in 1987 and was re-branded as The Ultimate Warrior. He won his first Intercontinental title from the Honky Tonk Man in a match that lasted less than a minute at the first Summer Slam in 1988. He would lose the title to Ravishing Rick Rude and then regain it at Sumer Slam in 1989.

He was still the champion leading into the main event match at WrestleMania in Toronto in 1990, which might be the highlight of his career. The bout against Hulk Hogan was for Hogan's WWF title and Warrior's Intercontinental title.

Warrior won the match and was embraced and presented with the WWE title belt by Hogan afterward, in a passing of the torch from the biggest star of the 1980s to one of the biggest stars of the 1990s.

"We are all so sad that the Ultimate Warrior has passed away," WWE chairman Vince McMahon tweeted.

Nigerian reality show star and musician, Timi Dakolo also tweeted: "RIP Ultimate Warrior, my favourite wrestler.I remember wrestling Mania VI when you defeated Hulk Hogan. One of my joyous moments."

Warrior would leave the WWE twice and then return before an ill-fated and brief stint in World Championship Wrestling in the late 1990s.

After retirement, he worked as a motivational speaker.

Iyabo Ojo has revealed that she once changed the name of her charity foundation to avoid people thinking she set it up to accommodate homos*xual activity.

The Nollywood actress set up S*xy Pinky Ladies in 2011 but had to change the name following insinuations female members of the body were lesb-ians.

'It really wasn't easy but I think it was my fault…Some members had to opt out because of the impression people had on us', Ojo told Encomium Magazine this week. She has since changed the name to Pinkies Foundation.

(NDLEA) The Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a 36-year-old food vendor for concealing wraps of cocaine in her priva-te part.
According to Sahara Reporters,Chinelo Okorom Lynnette was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos during the inward screening of passengers who arrived via an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia The NDLEA said Chinelo has already "excreted" 685g of cocaine and remains under observation. Commander of NDLEA at the airport, Hamza Umar said.

"The suspect tested positive for drug ingestion and v*gi-nal insertion.She, however, expelled a total of 685 grammes of substance that tested positive for cocaine while under observation at the airport".
The suspect confessed to the crime, but claimed that she was lured into drug trafficking on the pretext that she would be importing female bags.

"I am a food vendor at Ajangbadi, Lagos and have never been involved in crime. I am a victim of man's cruelty to man", she lamented in her statement.
"My husband abandoned me with four children two years ago. I work hard to pay their fees and ensure their proper upkeep. The last straw that devastated me was when the landlord forcefully ejected me. I had nowhere to turn to for solace".

Chinelo said she was "crying like a baby" when a man appeared out of the blue to offer a shoulder to cry on, asking her to wipe away her tears and promising to introduce her to importation business.
I felt he was God-sent until he sponsored my trip to Addis Ababa.When I got to Ethiopia, he told me to take cocaine to Nigeria. Initially I disagreed, but he threatened to recover his investment at all cost

A woman, who identified herself as Mrs. Feyi Akere, has shown up to say 35-year-old Isaac Akere, one of the victims of the Ikorodu boat mishap, was her husband.

Isaac, who was the last of the nine victims to be recovered from the Majidun River, was said to be planning his wedding with his fiancée, Foluke, this week Saturday.Tragedy struck last Wednesday when both Isaac and Foluke took a commercial boat belonging to Bell Marine Services along with 19 others from the Ebute Ero, Lagos Island en route Majidun, Ikorodu. The boat capsized midway into the journey due to overloading and speeding, killing the intending couple, two pregnant women, a 13-year-old girl, and four others.Twelve of the victims reportedly survived the accident.

Our correspondent reported on Monday that Isaac's corpse was discovered on Saturday after the family raised a rescue team of fishermen to search for his body when it was not seen at the Ikorodu mortuary.Few hours after the report was published, accompanied with the picture of Isaac and Foluke, 36-year-old Feyi said she got calls from friends and family members asking if she had divorced her husband.

She said she was not aware her husband wanted to marry another woman, adding that after the incident, her husband's relatives locked up his house in Ikorodu and took away her children.

She said, "When the incident happened, some of his colleagues called me, asking if I did not know that my husband was involved in a boat accident, and that he was preparing to marry.

"I didn't believe until I searched for The PUNCH report online and read the story myself.Immediately, I went to his office at Apapa. I was directed to Ebute Ero. There, they queried me to know if I was his wife. They said they heard he wanted to marry and that he died with his fiancée.

"I called my dad after another friend called me from the United Kingdom saying the same thing.She said she went to the mortuary and while making enquiries about her husband and speaking with his colleagues, her husband's younger brother embarrassed her, asking what she was looking for.

"His younger brother attacked me and told the people around not to talk to me. I discovered that they had locked up Isaac's house immediately he died and took my children away. They have also removed his two cars –the one he parked at the Majidun jetty and the one in the house. Why are they holding on to my children? What is their interest? Why did they lock up his building and remove his cars? I need to know."

Asked if she had problems with her husband before he died, Feyi said she once had a major disagreement with him after he impregnated a woman outside wedlock.

The mother of two said the incident, which happened in 2011, led to her husband packing out of their matrimonial home.

"We were legally married in 2006, even though we had been living together since 2004. I have had two children for him, both girls. Our problem started when he impregnated a lady, which I later found out from personal investigation. It was a big quarrel, and I almost sued him for it, but people said I should not because he was my husband.
"He packed out of the house we built and rented a three-bedroom flat and started living with the woman who then had a child for him,"

She, however, said a member of the family identified as Lanre, had been calling her for "negotiation". She said she wanted to be carried along in the burial of her husband, and had rebuffed such calls, which she described as unreasonable.

Feyi's lawyer, Debo Olufeko, said,

"There is already a case of abduction against the family because they took the two children from her and took them to Ilorin, Kwara State. My client was his legal wife and has a marriage certificate as evidence. She was never divorced from her husband, even though we knew there was a concubine."

When contacted on the phone, Lanre refused to comment on the allegations, but asked our correspondent to speak with an elder of the Akere family.

The elder, who declined identification, confirmed that Feyi was the wife of Isaac.

He said,

"Yes, we are aware he had a wife. However, all those things she said are lies. It is a lie that we took her children from her. The family did not take any children from Feyi at any point in time.
"The family moved in to take care of the children. She will take them after coming to talk to the family about it. She was not living with her husband or children before."

Maryam Abacha, Former First Lady of Nigeria hardly the mother of 10 has been living a relatively quiet life. But she recently gave a rare interview to Abubakar Hashim of The News magazine and opened up on a few things.

How has life been with you since the death of your husband?
We thank God for His kindness and love for us. We also thank those that have been around us in these moments of grief. We are still waiting for those that have distanced themselves from us to reconcile and come back. We are not angry with anybody. We are still friends to everybody. We look forward to the Almighty Allah to provide us the fortitude to bear this loss. So life has been quiet and peaceful with us. We are one and a happy family. Continue...

When you heard of his sudden death, how did you take it? How did you feel?
My husband's death was like a coup. It was sudden and shrouded in confusion. General Abdulasalami [Abubakar] just called me, telling me to come and collect the dead body. We buried him like any other ordinary Nigerian. It was quite unfortunate the way he died. Allah knows best and unto Him we shall all return. May his soul rest in peace. I'm yet to fully recover from the shock of his death.

And how did you both meet?
Like any other would-be couple. He was a charming, handsome and likeable personality; a loving father who liked his children and loved ones. We became friends and got married. Here are pictures in the family album; before, during and after our wedding day. He was a caring husband, a dedicated father and an affectionate grandfather.

President Goodluck Jonathan awarded your late husband a centenary award. How did you feel receiving the award?
We felt happy. Maybe this is the beginning of good things to happen to Nigeria; maybe reconciliation… President Jonathan is a young man, he is using his time and energy to bring peace and reconciliation. I think it is high time we all come together to lift the country and stabilise ourselves. I hope it is the beginning of good things to come.

Do you still continue with the pet projects you embarked on when you were first lady?
I did those projects on government basis. They are still on there. Obasanjo did not change the names, neither did subsequent [Presidents]. The African First Ladies Peace Mission is still there, the Poverty Alleviation Programme, the National Programme on Immunisation, the Family Support Programme, the Family Support Basic Education Programme and the Family Economic Advancement Programme are all there. These are projects and programmes that touched the lives of the people, particularly women.

The National Hospital is there and so are the other hospitals around the country. I never did any programme for my personnal benefit, but for the government and the people of the country. So today, in my personnal capacity, on whether I'm still embarking on these projects, I'm no longer in government so I'm not embarking on such projects. I tried my best as the then first lady to bring about all-round development, particularly for women in the rural areas. We did extensive reach-out to the rural populace and touched lives in the remote areas of the country.

Do you have any political ambition?
No, I don't have any political ambition.

For the presidency, at least; the first woman President of Nigeria?
Not at all. I was a first lady. I just want peace for the country. Stability and development are not achieved by one person. There are governors, ministers, local chairmen, civil servants and the like. It is a cluster of people. The President alone does not make a government.

What is your assessment of General Muhammadu Buhari, and by extension, the All Progressives Congress, APC?
I brought General Buhari into politics; It's not that I want to expose him. We did everything to support and encourage him. He called my son Mohammed to join Congress for Progressive Change, CPC. They rejected Mohammed by force during the governorship race. This was the trend, not only in Kano, but also in Katsina, Bauchi and other states. I think it is not healthy for democracy; not just because of Mohammed but for the smooth play of democratic norms and values. Democracy is the choice of the people. But when people put their own personal interest first and they interfere [in the process], then it is no longer democracy. It is unfortunate that elders like them could come belittle themselves in the race.
For the APC I cannot comment. It is not yet time for me to do so. However, it is good for democracy to have competition and opposition. It enhances democratic values, norms and stabilises the country's image, and will eventually uplift our democratic credentials in the international comity of nations.

Your son, Mohammed, wanted to be governor of Kano State.
It is the people of Kano that wanted my son to be governor. They still want him to be governor. They've been calling us to come and intensify his campaign. In fact, they are even campaigning on his behalf. So it is people of Kano that want him as governor because they appreciate his father's contribution to various fields of endeavour.
They also appreciate the little projects and programmes I did in Kano and in the country. They say he should come and continue the projects and programmes in Kano.

The late General Sani Abacha contributed to the restoration of democracy in Sierra Leone. Could you comment on the role he played in the process.
I cannot tell you exactly how he played this role as I was not a soldier, I was just a housewife. But he tried his best for Sierra Leone and thank God it was a success and indeed, peace returned to Sierra Leone. The late Ahmad Tejan Kabbah was restored to power. It was indeed a tragedy to hear about his death recently. He was an African statesman of international repute.
I remember one of his visits [to Nigeria] after he was restored to office; he was so calm, amiable and indeed, supportive of a just pan-African solution to African crises. He was indeed, a true democrat of continental proportion. My late husband honoured him and appreciated him.

What message do you have for the people of Sierra Leone on the death of Kabbah?
I send my sympathy, my condolence and my prayers. May God give them peace, may God give them the fortitude to bear the great loss of the father of democracy in that country. May God give the present president, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, the power to emulate what the previous president had done, particularly entrenching stability, peace and democracy in Sierra Leone. I wish President Koroma all the best. He is a young man.

I wish the people of Sierra Leone all the best. I have never been there but I hope to be there in my lifetime. I learnt it is a small and beautiful country with about six million people, with lots of natural resources including diamond and oil. May God Almighty grant the late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah eternal rest. May Allah also grant my late husband eternal rest. Nigeria and Sierra Leone have a long, historical relationship.

We look forward to building on the strong ties that have cemented us for so long a period. That was why my late husband stood by Sierra Leone in the time of her crisis; to restore democracy, sanity and stability in the country. We couldn't stand by and watch Sierra Leone fall into anarchy, because the entire West African region would have been affected. So we moved in to bring back normalcy and sanity to the country.
So my wish for Sierra Leoneans is that they maintain peace and stability, especially the peaceful democratic course we've seen in past elections. We want this to continue so that other countries will emulate it.

A couple of weeks back, K1 de Ultimate staged classy weddings for three of his daughters, and you played a very important role. Since then, speculations have been rife that there must be something you're hiding from the public between you and the popular fuji musician. What's your reaction to this?
Left to me, I wouldn't like to react to this kind of question anymore because it's more like a dead issue. It doesn't have any meaning to me again. This issue has been on ground since 2011, when I launched my movie, Dewunmi Iberu. That was the time K1 performed, forgetting that I am not the only actress or actor the man had played for. Recently, he performed at Murphy Afolabi's movie premiere. The question is, is he also sleeping with Murphy Afolabi? So, some people are just not alright upstairs. K1 is happily married. I respect him and his wife. I saw a good father in him, likewise he saw a good daughter in me. But once they don't understand the kind of relationship between you and a man, they start insinuating what's far from the truth. Fine, they said I played an important role at his daughters' wedding. They forgot I wasn't the only one invited to play a role. I don't even know what was so important in what I did.
I don't need to be repeating myself. He is a father to me, and I respect him a lot. He has not disrespected himself before me, and I have also not disrespected myself before him. So, if he is doing something, and I am invited just the way I was at the events they're talking about, I must play my part well. Besides, I wasn't the only daughter he invited. A lot of us were there, even adopted ones. So, I wasn't the only one that stood as his daughter during the week-long ceremonies. I have known K1 to be very nice, and I respect him for that. People should just let me rest. Alhaji invited a lot of celebrities to his daughters' weddings, and I was contacted to entertain all the actors and actresses, which was exactly what I did on his behalf. So, what's so special about that? How can that be fuelling unnecessary speculation about myself and him? Some people are just jobless. I don't know what their problem is. If since 2011 people have been insinuating we're dating, are we not supposed to be tired of each other? Just because they don't understand the true relationship between us, that's why they keep peddling useless rumour. They are just disturbing their brains over what is not. But my conclusion is that whoever that thinks my way of life is a problem to him or her should vacate the earth surface and stay six feet underneath.

But there is this tale that you and Bisola Badmus are not in good terms because of K1?
That's a senseless rumour. Why can we be fighting over K1? Both of us are colleagues. Bisola is my very good colleague. We may not be close friends but we talk and relate very well. We even communicated about three days ago. She is also my friend on BB, we chat from time to time. Whatever that may be going on between her and K1 is none of my business. They are adults. People should please not drag my name into what has nothing to do with me.
