'Kim Kardashian is the most beautiful woman of all time' - Kanye West

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 02:24 PM PST

Kanye West is a man truly and crazily in love. In a radio interview with Angie Martinez yesterday, Kanye said he isn't worried about how his relationship with Kim K is affecting his career, saying she's so beautiful it doesn't matter if she is uncool.
'I don't give a f*** what type of jacket she got on. Ladies and gentlemen y'all acting like this ain't the most beautiful woman of all time! Arguably of human existence. The top ten of human existence.'
Kanye also said dating Kim has taught him that life was about more than 'whats cool or not cool'.

'I felt like our love story is a love story for the ages. I felt like when we first got together it's a Romeo And Juliet kind of thing. Like she's a reality star and I'm a rapper and people talking about how our brands connect and it doesn't fit. And I'm just so tired of brands... It's not about branding at a certain point. I loved her from the first day I saw her which I said on Bound.'
He then admitted he allowed the Keeping Up With Kardashian cameras to capture his elaborate marriage proposal to Kim last month.

'When we got engaged I made sure the show was there because I felt like that would make her happy. Regardless of how it was shot I felt like this was a moment she would want to have.'

Asari-Dokubo Arrested in Benin Republic!

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 11:05 AM PST

The leader of the Niger Delta People's Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was today arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
A statement by his lawyer, Festus Keyamo, said Dokubo was picked up by the police between 1:00pm and 2:00pm around the Lubeleyi roundabout, and taken to an unknown destination.
The wealthy former militant reportedly opened a private university in the Benin Republic, the King Amachree African University that is preparing to start degree-awarding programmes in 2014.
"We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now," Keyamo said in his statement.  "In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as at this evening and nothing incriminating was found."
He suggested that Dokubo's arrest and detention may be a ploy by "certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government" to keep his client away as 2015 approaches.
"We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria," he said.
Dokubo has in recent times vowed that unless Mr. President Jonathan retains the presidency in 2015, Nigeria would break up.

A press release from lawyer Festus Keyamo explaining that his friend and client, ex-militant Asari Dokubo was arrested in Benin Republic today. Read the press release below...

Today, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, my friend and client, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, was arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic, around the hours of 1:00pm and 2:00pm by the country's gendarmes (Police Force).
He was picked up around the Lubeleyi roundabout and taken to an unknown destination. We want to emphasise that Alhaji Dokubo-Asari carries on legitimate business and has been living partly in Benin Republic for many years now. In fact, he owns houses, schools and an academy in that country. All these places have been searched as at this evening and nothing incriminating was found.
We think his arrest and detention is a ploy by certain forces in Nigeria in unholy alliance with the Beninoise government to keep him away as 2015 approaches.

We call on the Nigerian government to immediately intervene and ensure that no harm befalls Alhaji Dokubo-Asari and to use all diplomatic means to secure his immediate release and safe return to Nigeria.
Meanwhile, we shall be liaising immediately with our colleagues in that country to enforce his fundamental rights.

Thank you.
 FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.

Man Arrested And Detained For four days, for taking Policeman’s pictures!

Abragahou Aminu

Culled From Punch

A Non-Governmental Organisation, Pre-Adult Affairs Organisation, has accused the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, of illegally arresting and detaining a teacher, Abragahou Aminu, for four days for taking a picture of a policeman.
The organisation said the detention of Aminu, a Togolese, constituted a breach of his fundamental human rights.
Executive Director, PAAO, Sandra Duru, in a petition addressed to the Inspector General of Police, said, "Aminu was arrested on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 and kept in four different police detention cells before his kangaroo arraignment on Saturday November 23, 2013.
"All moves made by us to secure his release on bail were rejected by your men in Lagos command acting on the instruction of Ngozi Braide, Lagos PPRO. Aminu was first arbitrarily detained at Ketu Police Station, from Ketu, he was transferred to the PPRO's office where he was harassed for hours.
"From PPRO's office, the innocent Aminu was transferred to Area F detention cell and from Area F to X-squad cell. All these acts of injustice and unprofessionalism were perpetrated by your men simply because a man was caught recording an incident with his mobile phone.
"Sir, may we bring to your notice that the police possess no power to keep an accused in custody for more than 48 hours at most. We also remind you that the PPRO's office is not meant for the torturing of an accused. We also inform you that the X squad detention cell that Aminu was detained for about 96 hours wasn't meant for civilians but for that of undisciplined officers."
Duru alleged that Aminu wrote his statement under duress while in police custody, while the pictures were deleted from his phone.
She added that Aminu had lost his teaching job due to his prolonged detention and demanded that the police compensate him.
Braide however refuted Duru's claims saying that Aminu was neither tortured nor threatened.
Braide said at least three police personnel had been dismissed in the state after videos had been tendered as evidence against them by members of the public.
She said, "The police as an organisation have nothing against members of the public taking pictures or videoing errant policemen in the act as this helps us to identify and expunge the bad eggs among us.
"However, we do not condone people taking pictures of policemen on duty for no reason at all. The nature of our job involves security and we cannot allow people to be taking pictures at random because the pictures could be used for ulterior motives.
"The suspect was brought in and his interrogation was recorded on video. Did you see any marks on his body? He was detained at the X squad which investigated the matter. The suspect was neither tortured nor beaten and has even been charged to court."
PUNCH Metro investigation, however, revealed that Aminu was taking pictures of a policeman having an altercation with a commercial bus driver around Ketu Bus Stop on November 19, 2013.
It was learnt that Aminu was caught by a policewoman and subsequently detained at the Ketu Police Station after which he was transferred to the office of the Police Public Relations Officer the following day.
The suspect, while being interviewed by Braide in the presence of journalists, said he took the pictures because of the "action" at the scene.
He had said, "I am a French teacher at the Supreme Education Foundation, Magodo. I was walking by the bus stop when a policeman ordered a commercial bus to stop. The bus driver drove recklessly and almost hit the policeman and an argument ensued.
"When I saw this, I brought out my phone and began to take pictures because I felt the bus driver should not have driven in such a manner. Also, I felt the policeman should not have jumped in front of a speeding vehicle."
The suspect was, however, made to write a statement at the PPRO's office and a letter of apology before being transferred to the Lagos State Police  Command Headquarters where he was detained at the X Squad department

25-Year-old Man Drowns Himself In The Lagos Lagoon While swimming to win A bet!!

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 10:45 AM PST

Scene of the incident

A 25-year-old man, Toheeb Jimoh, has drowned in a Lagos river while reportedly swimming to win a bet.
He had allegedly bragged that he could swim the Lagos Lagoon from a particular point to the shore on Saturday evening.
It was learnt that when some people challenged his claim, he had allegedly dared them to place a bet. After the bet was placed, he reportedly went on a boat to the point and jumped into the lagoon hoping to swim to the shore.
Friends of the deceased, who had accompanied him on a boat, were said to have fled the scene after he did not make it out of the water.
The incident, which occurred at Aiyedun Street, Bariga, was said to have caused commotion among residents who trooped to the site, hoping to save Jimoh.
The corpse of Jimoh was said to have been recovered around 7pm same day and buried beside the water around 12am in line with the traditions.
Our correspondent learnt that the late Abeokuta, Ogun State indigene, had only recently gained admission into the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta before the tragedy struck.
A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, "He and some of his friends were actually fond of betting and gambling. So that evening, they decided to take the betting to another level. Toheeb told them he could swim from the Third Mainland Bridge end of the river to the shore.
"When the boat they took got to that point, which was a little close to the shore, he gave his clothes to his brother and jumped into the water.
"His friends who were in the boat waited for him at the shore without success. After it dawned on them that something was amiss, his younger brother raised the alarm. By the time people got to the scene, he had died."
When PUNCH Metro visited the site where the incident took place, he observed that the scene was directly under the Third Mainland Bridge.
Leaves, pure water sachets, and other dirt were seen floating on the river shore. The area was mainly occupied by shanties and make-shift structures.
Residents of the area refused to comment for fear of being implicated.
When our correspondent visited the Jimohs on Ajenifuja Street, he was told they had traveled to complete the burial rites. Their bungalow was also quiet, while the street was deserted.
A resident on the street, Tiamiyu Abdullateef, said the deceased was highly pious.
He said Jimoh had earlier gone on a boat to "play a game with his friends", and returned without any incident.
Abdullateef, however, said the deceased merely went to the lagoon to defecate after he became pressed.
"Then, he decided to swim and wash his body. His brother, Wale, waited at the shore. When he was swimming back, he just lost breath, and was exhausted. His brother saw him drowning but did not suspect that anything was wrong until it was too late."
When our correspondent visited Bariga Police Station, a senior official told him that the police heard about the case informally.
The officer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to speak for the police, said, "It was not reported here, and there is little we can do although we heard of it,"
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said she was in a conference and promised to call back.

World's Longest-Married Couple To Celebrate 81st Wedding Anniversary This Year! [PHOTOS]

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 10:02 AM PST

The longest-married couple in the United States is getting ready to celebrate an 81st wedding anniversary.

According to Reuters, John and Ann Betar eloped on Nov. 25, 1932, leaving their Syrian neighborhood in Bridgeport, Conn. for New York City to start a new life together in order to thwart Ann's father's plan of marrying her to a man 20 years her elder. She was 17 years old and John was 21. "Everyone was hopping mad, and my wife's aunt consoled my father-in-law by telling him not to worry, the marriage won't last," said John, who is now 102.

"John was not the boy next door, but the boy across the street who I loved," said Ann, 98. According to Reuters, they became friendly when he drove her to high school in his Ford Roadster. "That's why she married me, she loved that car," John joked.

To put it in historical perspective, when the couple got married in 1932, the Great Depression was at its worst, Franklin D. Roosevelt had just been elected president, John F. Kennedy was a high school student, and Adolf Hitler was about to come to power in Germany. "We have watched the world change together," John Betar said. "The key is to always agree with your wife."

According to Reuters, John and Ann Betar raised their family in Bridgeport, where John ran a grocery store before becoming a realtor.

As the Epoch Times reports, the couple now lives in Fairfield, Conn., and has five children, 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. "That's what makes life what it is. We were fortunate enough to live long enough to see this … and it's really one of the most gratifying things in the world to see your great-grandchildren, to see your grandchildren become adults," Ann told the Fairfield Citizen.

However, the couple has also experienced the pain of outliving their children, having lost one son and one daughter due to cancer within the past 15 years. "No matter how many children you have or how old they are, it's the worst thing that can happen to a parent," Ann Betar told Reuters. "But our oldest daughter is 80 years old." So what is the secret to the couple's longevity?

"They have this wonderful ability to accept life as it comes," their daughter Renee Betar told ABC. "They have a way of trying to look around at the things that they do have -- the family and the blessings. They came from a generation where there is such respect for each other and caring."

John Betar has a few words of advice for newlyweds. "Get along. Compromise. Live within your means and be content," he told ABC, before adding, "And let your wife be the boss."

"We Have Returned the N111 Billion Abacha Stole to Nigerian government" – Switzerland..

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 06:15 AM PST

The Government of Switzerland has disclosed that it had returned to the Nigerian government about $700m looted by late military Head of State, General Sani Abacha.
Switzerland Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr. Hans-Rudolf Hodel, made this known in Abuja recently at a press briefing ahead of a two-day seminar on Anti Money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism.
The envoy asserted that the Swiss government was ready to reopen the case if Nigerian government presents concrete evidence of any other money still being held in any Swiss bank, noting that Switzerland had no interest in withholding illicit funds. He said his country had returned about $1.7bn to their countries of origin in the last 15 years.
"Switzerland and Nigeria agreed to request the World Bank to participate in the review of the use of funds, in the framework of a budget control process of various welfare projects," he said.
He disclosed that his country was yet to receive any request for information on the November 4 Berne Declaration report: Swiss Traders Opaque Deals in Nigeria, which allegedly accused the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation of conniving with some Swiss-based oil firms of fraudulent deals, worth $6.8bn.
"I have no knowledge that we have been contacted by the authorities. In case they will start proceedings and they will need our help; of course, with international legal cooperation, we will help them if they approach us. But until now, they have not approached us," he said.

But Where Will the $700m(N111 Billion) Go to??

Zimbabwe President

According to Reports From IntegrityReporters!

Zimbabwean authorities has said that they have given foreign shop-owners, mostly Nigerian nationals, an ultimatum to shut down their businesses by Jan. 1, 2014.

A top official of the black empowerment ministry said only Zimbabweans had the right to run shops that have sprung up across the country and are termed
foreign businesses targeted under the nation's black empowerment laws, the state-controlled Herald newspaper reported Friday.

Those laws, passed in 2007, demand foreign businesses to cede 51 percent control to local blacks. The foreign shop owners have been criticized for taking retail trade opportunities from
Zimbabwean traders by selling cheap imports.

Poor townships and city flea markets have in recent years been inundated by shops run by foreigners.
According to state media, shop owners who fail to comply will be arrested.

'I HATE BEING CALLED A YORUBA ACTRESS' -Veteran Actress AYO MOGAJI..

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 04:37 AM PST

I HATE BEING CALLED A YORUBA ACTRESS-BINTA AYO MOGAJI

Binta Ayo Mogaji is one of the few actresses who need no introduction in Nigeria's movie industry. The actress who is fondly referred to as Igbanladogi,a name she got from her role in Late Toba Opaleye's chart busting film titled 'IGBALADOGI' years back, in this interview With OrijoReporters She speaks about her career and other sundry issues.

What have you been up to lately?

My acting is still moving on. I am still the same old Ayo Mogaji. I am still working and not yet tired. After my movie "Jombo" in 2006, I have not produced any other movie. I have stopped producing because the market is not encouraging, so I am just a working actress. If you can pay for my job, I work with you. I just returned back to the country. I am moving in and out of Nigeria by virtue of marriage. My husband is British and it seems like everyone knows about that. He's Dr. Ayodele Oduleye, a psychotherapist and British by birth. He lives there. I just came back from USA where I went to anchor a show.

You went off the scene at a time, why?

There was never a time I went off the scene. The only issue was I decided to limit some of my activities, because I can't get lesser pay or do anything substandard. This is the only career I have got so if you are under paying me or not being reasonable with your offer, I move out of your job. I didn't go anywhere; I was still in the country, I was still working. As we are talking right now, this year they have released several such as "Igba'bajo," "Towotomo," "Moberu," Arinzo 1&2. Just at the tail end of last year, they released "Moberu." While I was in the US, they released a couple of movies like "Mama Insurance." So there has never been one time I rested on my oars. I also featured in soap operas like "Tarima." I also used to do "Nowhere to be Found." What I'm saying is that even when I am not in the country, you see me on your TV screen every now and then.

You've been around for many years. Do you have any plan to retire at all?

I love acting and this is the only thing I have done most of my life. I have been an actor even before home video came. People paid to see me perform on stage. We started on stage when the commercial viability of the acting business was not as it is now in Nigeria. Therefore, we had to do quite a lot of things to sustain ourselves. We were into radio; we were also into TV play. TV was very popular back then. I was on "Village Headmaster," "Anter Theatre," "Koko Close" and quite a number of other TV programmes. My major TV plays then were in "Koko Close," "Village Headmaster" and "Den Set." There were a lot of other series, which I acted in but I can't remember them all anymore. We were not getting paid so much, but there was job satisfaction. We were quite happy with what we were doing. At that time, if you were a regular TV actor you were very lucky because some money would come out of it at the end of the month. So, without being immodest, I have been a household name before the advent of home video. So this is what I love. There is no age limit to acting.

You said marriage makes you travel more often now?

I am a house wife where I am coming from, and this is where my career is. Like I said, I don't live in the US; I just try to shuffle both. If anyone needs me to do a job for them they pay for my ticket and all that comes with the job.

You play comical roles more often nowadays, why?

I play according to the character role I am given. There is a director that would tell you this is how he wants his script played like I did in "Igba'Bajo." That was how they wanted their character to be played out. I want to believe that they specifically picked me for that character because they know I can give them what they want. My character in "Towotomo" and "Arinzo" was not comical though. There are several movies in which I didn't act comical roles. I play my part according to what you want me to do.

Considering your status in the industry, how do you feel when you are being asked to act the role of a house maid?

I don't have to play the lead role. If I act as a maid, that does not bother me, as long as I act my role and get my professional fee. I just believe most of them know that Ayo Mogaji would interpret the role given to her.

Most actors fight for the lead role. What do you have to say about that?

Well, I don't know about them, I can only speak for myself.

You said earlier that the last time you produced was in 2006, why?

Not that I have stopped producing. I have produced just once and I produced the film to make a statement.

When do you intend producing another movie?

I don't intend producing anyone anytime soon. Everybody is a producer right now and I don't want to join the bandwagon. What prompted me to produce the movie and make it a standard one is because there is a lot of gate crashing in the industry. No one knows and understands what the criterion of a producer is and what qualifies you to be a producer. I am an actor right now and when the time comes for me to be a producer I will produce.

How do you feel when you are addressed as a Yoruba actress?

I will never accept such because I am an actress not a Yoruba actress. If you call yourself an actress, you should be able to interpret any role being given to you in as much as you understand the language. I will use the word Nollywood actress for me rather than being referred to as a Yoruba actress, because I do act both in the English and Yoruba industry. So, I feel so sad when you say Ayo Mogaji is a Yoruba actress.

What's your most memorable day as an actress?

The day I had a show at the percropatric theatre. The title of the play was "Offensive," an American play written by Hubert Wilson. I played a role in it. There was a particular scene which was very emotional. The play was directed by Chuck Mike. It was a collective artiste play. After I played that highly emotional role, the then American Ambassador came back stage with a can of Sprite and asked me, "Are you alright" and he handed me the Sprite. That was a long time ago, but it was the most memorable day of my career. That Ambassador name was Princeton Rillyman. I had to cry in that role and the whole crowd cried with me. Immediately I finished playing that role and took a bow from the stage, the American Ambassador came to meet me back stage. I mean, it meant so much to me then.

''Nobody Forced me to change my Religion'' – Liz Anjorin Finally Speak Out!

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 04:19 AM PST

Liz Anjorin
Liz (now Aishat) Anjorin, tells PUNCH about her recent conversion to Islam and her lifestyle

You woke up one morning and decided to change your name and religion. Is that how people just switch?

My name is still Liz. I am Elizabeth Aishat Anjorin. I have always been a Muslim. It is just that I am a very confidential person; not many people know about it. That is why it sounds new to so many people now.

So how come it became a public knowledge and is even causing side talks here and there?

It was because I went on Hajj. That was how so many people got to know about my religion. You know that my name is Elizabeth, a Biblical name; so when I went on Hajj, everybody had to notice that I practise Islam.

Have you always been a Muslim?

My father was a Christian and my mother was a Muslim. After my mother's death, I decided to practise her religion. Even before her death, I had wanted to go for Hajj but there was no chance.

Stories started flying round when this story broke. Some said you found a rich 'Alhaji' who insisted you must convert to Islam before he married you…

People must talk and if they don't, they will die. But to answer your question, I don't think such can happen. I don't see why any man would tell me to change my religion before he can marry me. Funny enough, my boyfriend is not even an Alhaji. Going on Hajj was something I desired. It is not even meant for Muslims alone. If you believe in God, go to the Holy City and pray to your God and your prayers would be answered. People from all over the world come there.

Was your baby's father a Muslim?

Oh yes. The baby's late father was a Muslim. He gave my daughter a Muslim name. We all believe in one God. There is no dichotomy.  I don't have to judge anybody and say the person's religion is bad. We are all one before God. I am still proud of my name, Elizabeth. It is just that when you go for Hajj and come back, you have to be more modest. It is just that I am human and I am a young lady who is still single. I am free to live my life. If I get married and my husband wants me to be Eleha (woman in purdah), then I will do it. If I marry a pastor and my husband wants me to be a pastor, I will do it. I have to be submissive to my husband. For now, I am a young girl, so I think I am still free to follow my heart and do what I want to do. But when you go for hajj, you have the fear of God and you believe in God.

So you have changed since you came back?

Yes. Before now, I could do anything. I could talk anyhow. But now, I caution myself. I can't destroy myself talking the way other people talk.

Did you go to Mecca so that people will perceive you as a nice, holy lady?

Anybody who is saying such must be jobless. I saw all the comments people posted on the Internet because of my trip to Mecca. I know some people said I was a bad girl and I wanted to live a holy life and that was why I had to go to Hajj. Those people who say such, have they ever seen me in a party? Have they seen me where I shouldn't be? I am not a saint but I know I have been a wonderful person. If a lady like me can work and do some other things without anybody's knowledge, then people should pray for me. Anybody saying such negative thing hasn't seen me. It is not easy. If a guy of 27 can ask me out, then you know that I am a very decent lady to the core. If you keep yourself decent, it shows on your body. I don't fix nails except on location. I don't wear fake eye lashes. I don't smoke, I don't drink. I cherish my sleep at night. I don't club, I cover my body. So why would anybody term me a bad girl? If I were bad, I would be struggling. I am not saying that I am a saint but I will say it again and again, I am a very decent girl. I don't misuse my body. Do I even have that time?

You don't smoke, you don't drink and you don't do so many bad things but was it not reported that you and Iyabo Ojo fought over a man back then?

Anybody who says such is just jobless. It is so annoying. You don't judge anybody. You don't even have the right to do that. Let them talk. That is their headache. I am not going to say anything.

But there is a recent picture where you dressed so sexy. You didn't wear the long dresses ….

If I am at a movie location, nothing stops me from dressing that way. Even when I am not at a location, I have never really dressed seductively. I don't reveal my body. I always cover my body. it is very hard for people to know that I even wear tattoo. It is only at a location or when you see poster pictures that you would know that. There is a difference between your personality and your job. For a male gynaecologist who is an Alhaji, don't women open their legs for him to check them? It is his profession. People should please correct this impression. I am an actress. If I am given a role, I must interpret it. We are preaching and trying to correct anomalies with our movies. We are just acting. Even without going to Mecca or Jerusalem, I have never liked dressing seductively. You can still be beautiful without exposing your body. The more you are even covered up, the more beautiful you look. So, the picture you saw is a poster picture. I have always worn long gowns and I bet you, I look more beautiful than those who wear scanty attires. Attending event is part of my job; if I weren't a celebrity, I could wear anything to any event and nobody would notice. But I am a role model. I love to wear something unique. I am a young lady. The way you dress attracts the calibre of people that come to you. If you dress decently, mature minds approach you. If you dress in a funny way, such people will come to you.

So many people would expect you to finally settle down now…

People believe it is one Alhaji that sent me to Mecca. Ok o; when it is time for me to get married, I will let them know. It might be tomorrow, it might be next. I don't know the time but everybody will know when we get there. All I am interested in is my business.

You are into business as well?

Oh yes. I am into fashion. I have a fashion house and it keeps me so busy. I buy clothes from so many countries and I sell.

Have you left acting?

No. I am working on my new movie, Kofo the First Lady. It is a sequel to Kofo Tinubu. We have the same characters in the movie but different story.

So you and Iyabo Ojo have fully made up, no more quarrel?

No. we don't have any quarrel whatsoever. She even featured in my movie. I don't have any wahala with anybody. We are doing so fine, so great.

Which faction of Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners do you belong to?

I am a member of ANTP. I don't belong to any faction. All I know is that I am an actress. I belong to my shop and my business. I don't know what is going on there. If you ask me what is happening in my shop, I will tell you the latest.

One actress came out to say publicly that actresses in the Yoruba movie industry practise lesbianism a lot; are you aware of it?

I wouldn't know I swear. I don't even have time. As a producer, if you waste my time, I go back to my business and my shop. Lesbianism? Haba! I don't think Yoruba actresses can do such. Yoruba people are well cultured. If you do any stupid thing, there is something called 'oriki.' You have to be careful of what you do. And that is why I always say the way you dress will determine how people will approach you. They can't approach me. How will you even think of 'toasting' me when you are a woman? Before you will even open your mouth to ask me out, I will slap you and beg God for forgiveness. Why would I get into such when men are everywhere searching for wives?

The FCT Police Command on Monday in Abuja confirmed that gunmen fired shots at the car of the Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah in Abuja. The spokesperson of the command, Altine Daniel, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the incident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Friday.
She added that the minister was not in the car when the incident took place.

Ms. Daniel, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, however, said that the incident was reported to the police on Monday at about 5:30 p.m. According to her, some metal objects were found in the vehicle which do not look like the conventional bullet. "The objects will be subjected to ballistic test," she said. According to her, investigation into the incident has begun. Continue...

Also confirming the shooting, the Special Adviser to the minister, Joe Obi, said that the attack took place at the Ministers' Hill, Maitama in Abuja.
"Fortunately, the minister was not in the car at the time the attack took place.
"An official report has been made to the police and the police are currently investigating it," Mr. Obi said.

Mrs. Oduah has been in the news recently over her roles in the controversial inflated purchase of two bullet proof cars by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, for N255 million; with many Nigerians calling for her sack and prosecution.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday confirmed that he had received the report of a three-man committee set up to probe the role of the minister in the scandal.

ASUU Strike Update: Ebonyi State University Withdraws From Strike, Orders Students to Resume Tomorrow!

Posted: 26 Nov 2013 03:24 AM PST

Apparently tired of the non-progressive dialogue between the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and the federal government over the ongoing strike, authorities of the Ebonyi State University have decided to pull out of the protest.
According a terse statement by the institution's Registrar, Mr. Sam Egwu, the decision came after the ASUU National Executive Council failed to end the four-month strike at the weekend meeting.
Academic activities will resume in all the university campuses tomorrow, Tuesday, November 26.

The statement reads, "Having waited patiently for the Federal Government and ASUU to resolve the impasse occasioned by the over four months strike embarked upon by the Union to no avail, the management of EBSU, on Monday, November 26 has resolved to reopen the school.
"We therefore inform all concerned that teaching and learning will begin fully on Tuesday, 26th, November, 2013. This is to enable us cover what we have lost to the strike."

Will this be seen as a sign for other institution to resume their academic activities?
Are you glad?
