| Una Don Hear Dis One? Kenyan Lawyer Sues Israel For Killing Jesus Posted: 02 Aug 2013 10:03 AM PDT The state of Israel is being sued by a Kenyan lawyer in the International Criminal Court of Justice (ICJ) for the "trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ," which the lawyer claims was "unlawful," according to regional media reports. Kenyan lawyer Dola Indidis says that Israel and the Jewish people should be held legally liable for Jesus's death, according to the Jerusalem Post. Indidis, who has taken his case the ICJ in The Hague, is also suing Tiberius, the emperor of Rome in 42 BCE, "Pontius Pilate, a selection of Jewish elders, King Herod, the Republic of Italy, and the State of Israel," according to the Post. Indidis is using the Bible as his primary piece of evidence against Israel. "Evidence today is on record in the Bible, and you cannot discredit the Bible," Indidis was quoted as saying by the Kenyan Citizen News. Indidis further "insists that the government for whom they acted can and should still be held responsible," the Post reported. Indidis, who reportedly is a former spokesman of the Kenyan Judiciary, insists that he has a "duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus." "I filed the case because it's my duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus and I have gone to the ICJ to seek justice for the man from Nazareth," Indidis was quoted as saying. "His selective and malicious prosecution violated his human rights through judicial misconduct, abuse of office bias and prejudice." Indidis further maintains that Jesus was not given a proper say during his trial and that his resulting punishment was unfairly carried out. "I am suing as a friend [of Jesus]," he was quoted as saying. When asked about the case, an ICJ official is reported to have said, "It is not even theoretically possible for us to consider this case," according to the Post. |
| Woman beats three-year-old girl to death for vomitting (SEE PHOTO) Posted: 02 Aug 2013 10:01 AM PDT ![]() Rebecca is accused of beating Deborah at their home in Ijaiye Ojokoro, Lagos on July 22nd because the little girl vomited and defecated on herself. A police source told PUNCH Metro: "The victim (Deborah) lost her mother in 2010. Early this year, Deborah's father was evicted from his home and he decided to send Deborah and his second child to go and stay with his brother, Vincent, until he settles down. Deborah and her nine-year-old sister were living with Vincent and his wife, Rebecca, in a one-room apartment at Powerline, Jankara, Ijaiye Ojokoro. However, Rebecca was always maltreating the two children." According to police investigations, on the day of the incident, Deborah woke up around 5.30am with a high temperature. The three-year-old girl was said to have started vomiting and defecating soon after. This was said to have angered Rebecca, who instead of administering treatment to the child, decided to beat her up. A police source said, "In the process of beating the girl, the suspect pushed her and she fell, hitting her head against the edge of a wooden chair in the room." PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim started to bleed from the head. Some neighbours rushed her to Ahmadiyya Hospital, where she was referred to Orile Agege General Hospital where she later died. A woman leader in the area, Kudirat Ogunseyi, was said to have reported the matter to Ijaye Ojokoro Police Division after which the suspect was arrested. Some neighbours, in their statements at the police station, described the suspect as a hot-tempered woman, who was fond of beating the children. "The way that woman beats up the children was very worrying to the extent that the landlord had threatened to evict them," one of the statements reads. Vincent told the police that he was not present when his wife beat his niece to death. "I was not at home when the incident happened. I am a photographer during daytime but I work as a vigilante group member. So I hardly sleep at home," he said. The suspect however said she did not kill the victim deliberately. She said she only pushed Deborah and she hit her head against the chair. "I am a housewife and I have a 10-month-old baby. I did not mean to kill her (Deborah). I only pushed her because she vomited and defecated on the floor. I was only trying to correct her. It was not deliberate. I am a mother too and I know how I would feel if my son was killed," she said. It was learnt that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba. A source at the SCID said the police were waiting for autopsy. He added that if other wounds were found on other parts of the victim's body, it would prove that the victim was indeed tortured before her death. |

| Photo:Snake With Foot Found in China Posted: 02 Aug 2013 06:32 AM PDT ![]() A snake with a single clawed foot has been discovered in China, according to reports. Dean Qiongxiu, 66, said she discovered the reptile clinging to the wall of her bedroom with its talons in the middle of the night. "I woke up and heard a strange scratching sound. I turned on the light and saw this monster working its way along the wall using his claw," said Mrs Duan of Suining, southwest China. Mrs Duan said she was so scared she grabbed a shoe and beat the snake to death before preserving its body in a bottle of alcohol. The snake – 16 inches long and the thickness of a little finger – is now being studied at the Life Sciences Department at China's West Normal University in Nanchang. Snake expert Long Shuai said: "It is truly shocking but we won't know the cause until we've conducted an autopsy." A more common mutation among snakes is the growth of a second head, which occurs in a similar way to the formation of Siamese twins in humans. Such animals are often caught and preserved as lucky tokens but have very little chance of surviving in the wild anyway, especially as the heads have a tendency to attack each other. [Telegraph] |

He claimed none of them were virgins when he abducted them. The 53-year-old blamed his behavior on the violence he suffered as a child and his addiction to porn.(As usual, they always blame it on something ..1000 years means even after his death, his ghosts will continue the sentence..Wow) |
| Farmer flees home as wife delivers triplet Posted: 02 Aug 2013 05:42 AM PDT A 40-year-old farmer, Biodun Akapo, of Afojupa Village, a suburb of Owode-Egba, Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Ogun State, has fled his home after his wife, Bose, delivered a set of triplets last Wednesday. Our correspondent gathered that after Bose delivered the babies at a maternity home in the town, her husband could not settle the hospital bills, a development that made the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Kolawole Sowemimo, stepped in and rescue of the mother and her triplets by picking the hospital bills. The father of the triplets, who was said to have fled his home, had yet to return to his family on Thursday (yesterday). The 30-year-old mother of the triplets said her husband was not at home when she went into labour and later taken to the hospital on a motorcycle by a neighbour. Bose said, "I never expected the triplets because we already had two children, aged five and eight years old. I thank the traditional ruler of Owode-Egba, who assisted us by providing clothing and other medical materials for the babies." She expressed regret that her husband absconded on getting the news of the delivery and had refused to return home to his family. Bose said, "We have been together as a happy couple for over 10 years. The birth of these triplets should not separate us. I don't even know his whereabouts, but I am begging him to come back home for the sake of these innocent babies." She also appealed to government, individuals and groups to assist her family by providing a job for her husband. |

| Funke Akindele Finally Opens Up On What Really Happened Posted: 02 Aug 2013 05:32 AM PDT It's all about other women, lack of attention, just coming in and going out at at will, abuse, etc. Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has opened up on the reasons behind the crash of her marriage. Although Oloyode is now begging her to come back, there is a "spiritual" angle to the saga. Below are the revelations by Funke Akindele: In an interview with E24-7 Magazine, she disclosed that she only enjoyed the marriage in the first 2 months. "I was abused emotionally and verbally. Really, I felt we could work things out when the trouble started two months after the marriage, but I made up my mind and shut the door of the marriage at him when the trouble was coming to me too much. "I stooped to conquer him; buried my fame and name to make him my husband, but it did not work. At a point in time, I asked if it's not the same man that was all over me before we married. "He nearly got me off my career. He called me severally; I did not pick his calls but when he realized my silence was tormenting him, he took to Facebook. It's alright. Ask him when did he come to my house last? He left me here in my rented apartment with nothing and he will just dash in and dash out. He gets abusive, caustic anytime we have a misunderstanding and often told me to my face, he's going to his wife in Oshodi." At Oshodi, she said, she received a warm welcome from the wife, Fadekemi, but constant humiliation from Kehinde. "She [Funke Akindele] was really loved by the kids at home; she enjoyed taking them out to eateries and stores. Sometimes, they spent the weekend with her and she followed them to school. The children will surely miss her," our source, close to the family, said. Now that the cookie has crumbled, Kehinde, she said has been calling and sending text messages begging her to come back. "He sent me sms that he has seen a buyer for his house at Adeniyi Jones for N40million. He asked me if he should sell it and that if he does, he will buy me a new car and a rent me a new apartment. Why now? I don't need all that, I want my sanity." After she ignored him, he sent her another text abusing her and calling her names. "So you can see that he does not mean well for me," she re-iterated. E24-7 checks revealed as at Saturday evening Kehinde was combing the nooks and crannies of Ikorodu to locate Funke's dad's house. He boasted: "I will do anything to win my wife back." Over the past few months, Funke and Kehinde had started to see things differently so the need to pull out became inexorably high. It was revealed exclusively to E24-7 MAGAZINE by sources close to Funke, that she was ready to go on with Kehinde's warts and all but for the fact that loyalty has never been his strong point - his children from different women tell it all. Kehinde, our source hinted, has a roving eye when it comes to the opposite sex and this often causes friction between him and his celebrity wife. There are tales about his dalliance with his Personal Assistant, Funke. Observers of the marriage from inception feel that when fame and money come to a meeting point in a relationship, it will result in problems if the couple are not committed and disciplined. Moreover, a byproduct of this alliance is usually ego and it kills celebrity marriages faster than one can open the pages of tabloids and magazines. But this is not the case with Funke. "I respect him to the end but he chose to treat me that way. He said he wanted to clip my wings." Funke and Kehinde rarely spent substantial time together even at the peak of their marriage. Both kept to hectic schedules by virtue of their chosen professions. While Funke is often involved in back-to-back shooting on movie sets, Kehinde jumps from one construction site to another; pressing buttons for his political ambitions; and keeping dates with his wife at home and other women by the side. This sort of arrangement invariably makes keeping faith with the vows of the union very difficult. In the long run, suspicion will rear its ugly head and the couple will eventually drift apart, especially when they don't live under the same roof. This is best exemplified in Funke and Kehinde's break up. Besides, Kehinde's disturbing and haunting pasts have repeatedly stared Funke right in the face, and according to E24-7 MAGAZINE's impeccable source, Funke learnt shockingly that her once beloved hubby was expelled from the University of Jos almost as soon as he was matriculated as a student of the ivory tower. His admission, according to our source, was faulty right from the beginning and since that first attempt at tertiary education went awry, he shut his door at education. When he returned from Jos, he found strength in his entrepreneurial skill coupled with the influence and support of his mother, a market leader and successful businesswoman; he became an estate developer, building chains of shops in Oshodi market. Gradually, he crept into politics and his popularity soared that he became a well-known grassroots politician and a great mobilizer. More than twice, Kehinde, who belonged to the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and his supporters have clashed with the NATIONAL UNION OF ROAD TRANSPORT WORKERS (NURTW) Treasurer, Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo an Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) loyalist. Kehinde has also contested for elective posts twice; most recent, was the Oshodi/Isolo Constituency 1 House of Representatives in 2007 which he also lost. Many years after, he reawakened his political ambition and quickly re-aligned himself by joining the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). To shore up his image, he found in Funke who has become popular with her movie, Jenifa and the sequel, The Return of Jenifa, a ready tool. He convinced the favourite actress to lead him to the Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he had assaulted many years ago during the market women leadership tussle between his mother, Alhaja Almaroof and the late Iyaloja General Alhaja Abibat Mogaji. After he atoned for his 'sins,' he joined the train of well- wishers that went to London to felicitate with the former governor when one of his sons graduated from a university in London. Reliable sources told E24-7 MAGAZINE that Kehinde's lost bid to win the contract to rebuild Oshodi market really threw him off balance and that probably made him to turn the heat on his latest wife, Funke who wanted his attention. Despite the ill-fated turn that the relationship has taken, many of Funke's fans can't help but wonder if she hadn't known that the union was doomed to fail from the onset. The reason for this thinking is not far-fetched; firstly, Funke opted for the Muslim marriage even when many thought that she would go to the court registry to cement her marriage with Oloyede. Secondly, sources close to the family said Kehinde was warned by spiritualists not to venture into the marriage but he declined and did not share it with Funke. In the same vein, Funke was told not to go into it by her parents but she asked them to respect her wish. And as it plays out, she is free to remarry anytime she pleases without unnecessary legal impediments. This and many other factors contribute to the opinion shared by many of her fans that the delectable thespian knew that the future of her marriage with Oloyede will not be as long, colourful and bright as it appeared with all the glam. [But] it's just too quick and too fast to break. Now that the requiem mass has been sung for the once celebrated union, one cannot but remember the view of controversial actress, Tonto Dikeh, who declared that: 'Nollywood brides often marry horribly.' |
| Update On Redeemed Pastor Daughter's Conversion To Islam; Her Message To Parent Posted: 02 Aug 2013 05:27 AM PDT The issues is generating controversy here and there; some say she was brain-washed and forced to abandon her first religion, Christianity and accept Islam by a Northern traditional ruler. The conversion to Islam of 25-year-old Charity Uzoechina, daughter of Pastor Raymond Uzoechina of the Redeem Christian Church of God, Kwankwashe, Suleja, continues to generate controversy. Her father accused the Estu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar, of hypnotizing his daughter, who has since changed her name to A'isha, to embrace Islam. A'isha, who hails from Asaba, Delta State, came to Abuja at the age of 10 when her father relocated from Lagos. After her secondary school education at Army Day Secondary School Asokoro, Abuja she got admission into Federal Polytechnic, Bida to read Public Administration. She, however, withdrew from the course in her first year. She embraced Islam on February 15, 2013. A'isha said since her family relocated to Suleja, Niger State, she has been in the midst of Muslims, which accorded her the opportunity to have several Muslims friends and learnt a lot about Islam. The travails of A'isha began when she ran to the Estu Nupe's palace in Bida on March 1, this year to seek protection against any aggression she may face should her family know about her conversion to Islam. This led to a controversy that is still ongoing. A'isha has dragged her own father, a Pastor, to a Shariah court in Bida, Niger State. The court is expected to rule on August 1, 2013 whether or not she should be released to her parents or not. She speaks exclusively to Weekly Trust. Excerpts: What is your name? Aisha Uzoechina: I was formerly known as Charity Uzoechina and now A'isha Uzoechina. Why the change of name? I changed my name because I have accepted Islam. What brought you to Bida? I came to Bida in 2012 to read Public Administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida. Are you still a student of Federal Polytechnic Bida? No, I am not. I have withdrawn from the school. Did you go back home? No, I did not go home. At the beginning I was planning to go back home, because I wanted to tell my father that I have converted to Islam. When I converted, I was afraid to tell my parents, because of the way my father would behave. I know he will not take it lightly with me. So, for that I refused to go back home. Did anybody force or enticed you to join Islam? I joined Islam on my own. Nobody enticed me with anything to join Islam. What informed your decision to join Islam? I converted to Islam because I love the character of Muslims, particularly the way they behave. You know Muslims believe in God. I have Muslim friends and I watch what they do, that enticed me to join Islam. I used to read Qur'an when I was a Christian. I always join them to read Qur'an and through that I found out that it is the same one God they worship. So I embraced Islam. How did your father come to know about your change of faith? When I ran to the palace, I told you, it was very difficult before I could see the Emir. When I saw him, the emir refused to accept me, because my father did not know about it. He, therefore, collected my father's number from me and called him. The following day my father came and said he wanted to see me. When we met we talked one on one. What did you tell him? Well the Emir told him that I have converted to Islam. When my father talked to me, he said let's go home, but I refused. I told him that I will not change my faith, because I have already accepted Islam and this is where I want to stay. He, therefore, threatened me so much so that I became scared of him. What did he do to you amounting to a threat? In the first place you know, I put on Hijab (veil), he said I should remove the Hijab. He was angry and used some harsh words on me, directing that I should remove the Hijab, but I refused. He threatened to take me to a village where nobody will set his eyes on me. So I became scared of him, therefore I refused to follow him. That is it. Did the Emir intervene? The emir gave him one week to come back, but he came back even before it reached one week. He said he must take me home. He will not take me to our house, but he'll take me to somewhere that nobody will set his eyes on me. I quickly ran back to the emir and to the Shari'a Court for protection. I don't want to go back to my father, because he is threatening me. How did you come to know about the Shari'a Court? I found out from people. I went to them on my own to formally lodge my complaint. Why Shari'a Court? They have to protect me. You know when you take a case to court over life threatening issue, the court must protect you. That is it. Did your father come back after you refused to follow him? He came back. He kept on coming back. The other time he even threatened to bring some people to kidnap me. Is it true that at a time your father came with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) officials to you? Yes. Is it true that you also went to the Jama'atul Nasril Islam (JNI)? Yes. Why did you go to JNI? I told you and I'll still repeat it, though I don't want to repeat my words again. I want them to intervene on my behalf, the threat is too much. Now I can't go anywhere, I cannot even continue with my schooling. I cannot do anything because of the way he has been threatening me. He is still bringing people up till now to keep watch on me. How do you know that your father has assigned people to keep watch on you? There was a time that I wanted to go out, information came to me that my father was around and I had to stay back since I don't want him to take me away. I know that if I gout anytime,I he'll pick me up. How did you come to know about JNI? I have been reading about them. That is why I went to them. How did you present your case to JNI? I wrote to them seeking for their intervention, because I do not know how to go about convincing my father. I also learnt that the emir wanted to hand me over to my father, because the burden of my case is becoming too much for him to bear. If your father should promise to allow you to practice your new faith, will you go with him? I'll not. In a family that you are the only Muslim, how can you practice in that house? You know when he (my father) came along with my mother the other time, his actions and the harsh words he used, even if I go back home, my life will not be secured in his hand. That is why I said I'll not go. Did you start learning anything about Islam? Yes, I started learning how to perform ablution. I have learnt how to recite Surah Al-Fatihah, I am now in my second surah. Do you pray five times a day? Yes I do. I am even fasting now. I have been fasting since the beginning of the month of Ramadan. What is your massage to people wanting to join Islam? I have only one massage. Islam is good. Muslims are truthful, everything they say, they believe in God and they carry people along. Once a person converted to Islam, he'll be carried along until he is strong to stand on his own. What is your appeal to your parent? I am appealing to my parents not to be angry with me. My conversion to Islam will not separate us. I still love them, even though I am here. They can come and visit me and I can also visit them. They shouldn't think my new faith will take away the love I have for them. It will not. I am very sorry |

| ''Why I Hate Christianity'' - Charly Boy Posted: 02 Aug 2013 05:06 AM PDT Charly Boy recently shared an article on his thoughts about religion in general, especially the Catholic Church. Read below and let us know if you agree; The first 20yrs of my life, I seriously had this dream of being a priest. I was overfed with an overdose of religion which has always been a very serious business in my family. You dare not be late for morning mass or else you get the whipping of your life, yes my father was that strict, no nonsense when it came to going to church or anything spiritual. That's where I'm coming from, we were a family that prayed together and were very staunch Catholics for that matter. When I turned 16 I became an altar boy, at that time that was the coolest thing to be, considering years of going to bible classes and regular confessions. Eight months into the spiritual things as an altar boy, I made a big goof; I drank the priests wine and ate a bunch of Holy Communion enough to fill me up. I figured I could be more spiritual by that action, but I got expelled as an altar boy, needless to say how scandalized and angry my father was then, OMG. By the time I turned 20, I've had enough religion to last me two life times. By 1974, I left to further my studies in the USA, I was overjoyed because for the first time, I was going to be on my own. I was really carried away with my new found independence. Being an adventurous young man I started dabbling into not only the occult but with metaphysics, Buddhism, astrology, magic and all that Jazz. However, I still believe I was fundamentally a Catholic by birth, but the catholic fate has suddenly become boring and old fashion for me. When I read that controversial book, "In God's Name", all the negativity I started to feel about the Catholic Church became magnified in my mind. What about the sex scandals about priests and little boys. Hummmmmmm! I am aware that the Catholic Church is not a perfect body, and doesn't claim to be one. Of course it is plagued with the same corruption, scandals and sin as any other organization. Last night as I was watching CNN, the Pope's visit to Brasil was being beamed to the world and all of a sudden, there it was, "who am I to judge as long as they walk in the light of Christ" Pope Francis on Gays. As reflexes would have it, I jumped out of my seat and hugged my TV, funny ha ha. Not because homosexuality has been part of my advocacy through the years but because I feel that every adult has a right to make their bed and lie on it as they choose, and who the hell are we to judge. I have always said that it is really not our place to judge those who do not fit our view of normal. So once again the church is attempting to evolve in order to keep up with the rest of civilization. That is how a religion survives. Its belief has to be flexible enough to stay somewhat relevant to current or the public will abandon it. Ever since the Popes election, my man has taken actions that seem to be very 'unpopelike'. He even used public transport as a cardinal, he lives in a smaller quarter, he asked for blessing before blessing the crowd which gathered in St Peters square on the day of his election. But my people, what is stranger than Pope France's action have been evangelicals' reactions all over the world. Never before has a Pope become so widely accepted by Protestants and evangelicals. It's a proud day for Catholics and all mankind. Finally a Pope who doesn't see himself as equal to God, unlike our men of god down here. It is really amazing. Every Pope in the Catholic Church's past has had a mastery over catholic rhetoric, because theoretically they always say the right things. But Pope Francis has decided to lead with his actions. Before delivering his message at the Holy Thursday Mass, Pope Francis spent time on his Knees washing the feet of young women incarcerated at a nearby prison. This is the first time a Pope has ever washed the feet of women, not to mention that one of the women was a Muslim, which is another break in papal tradition. In the holy book, the bible calls us to be the light to the world if Christ is to be present to the world. This is why Pope Francis' way should be imitated for imitating him we make Christ visible and that is what influences others to walk in the way of Christ. So much to be said for our so called "men of god" in this neck of the woods who strut around as if they are God's gift to mankind, most of them bunch of con men and fraud stars who are continually ripping off unsuspecting Nigerians, living in fancy houses, building universities their congregation can't even afford for their children and buying private jets because their God is not a poor God, as Nija's hand over their pay checks in return for a miracle because they have bought into the Hocus-pocus that is Pentecostalism. Just look at our churches today, tell me those priest, pastors or our so called men of god, who makes Christ visible. Jesus needs us to make him Visible and present in this troubled world. Blessed mother Teresa is a perfect example of showing us the love and mercy of Christ in the millions she cared for. The gospel calls us to imitate Christ and it is in the way we live that the gospel of Jesus gets proclaimed, that is how we speak Christ to a world that does not know him. I am very scared for this Pope, he is a little too Christ like for his own good. There are still some die hard winches, vampires in the Vatican. I fear assassination, probably by the very people who call themselves "devout". If any Pope can show us what Jesus was saying, I think this one is the one. At least I hope so. I am impressed with this Pope not for his Catholicism but for his Christianity. As I lay in the comfort of my room watching the Pope's visit to Brazil, it was clear to me that Pope Francis will go down in history as the greatest Pope ever, I just pray that he lives out his Pope ship for many years to come as to spread his light and make our lord Jesus more visible in the world. More than 3million people where at Copacabana beach for the re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross and farewell mass. This world Youths Day smashed previous attendance records and goes down in the record books as one of the best attended papal events ever. In short, this Pope is a rock star. Here is a Pope who speaks the language of the people; In fact in Rio he kicked his penchant for simplicity, humility and accessibility into high gear. The security operatives were all overwhelmed by zealous pilgrims, he insisted on leaving the windows of his car down so he could extend his arm to those seeking his blessings. Countless babies kissed, photo ups with adoring faithfuls only added to the pontiff reputation for being a man of the people, and all of this took place in the roughest side of town, a crime ridden zone in Rio. |

| ''We Shot Our Leader'' - Boko Haram Members Reveal Posted: 02 Aug 2013 04:57 AM PDT Sheikh Abubakar Shekau, leader of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, has reportedly been shot and deposed by members of his own sect, Boko Haram. Abu Zamira Mohammed, who is the sect's leader negotiating with the federal government has been appointed as the new leader by the group's Shura Council. The group also said that its ceasefire declaration is working, pointing out that there has not been any suicide bombing since the declaration. It noted its condemnation of the Yobe massacre where 40 students were killed, adding that some politicians now commit murder and ascribe it to Boko Haram On the Kano blasts last Monday, which led to the death of about 45 people, the group blamed it on federal government's tardiness in responding to the ceasefire agreement. A joint report published yesterday, by Dr. Stephen Davis, a conflict resolution expert and an adviser to the last three Nigerian Presidents and Phillip van Niekerk, President of Calabar Africa, a strategic advisory company focusing on Africa, and former Editor of South Africa's Mail & Guardian newspaper, in the US based online newspaper, huffingtonpost.com, quoted one Imam Liman Ibrahim, spiritual leader of Boko Haram, as saying that "the change in leadership was prelude to peace negotiations with the federal government." | Posted: 02 Aug 2013 02:57 AM PDT After a hectic rehearsal at the studio with my band, walking home, drinking a bottle of coke. It was one of those walks I take when I feel there's a lot to talk to myself. This was a different one, not just because I was happy, I also had a good battery on my phone to play my favorite songs till I got home; it Just shuffled to Femi Kuti's 1997 song, and I don't know why but that song carries so much interest and spirituality. If you understand me, Femi Kuti didn't sing that song because it was year 1997, that song was influenced by the G.O.A.T called Fela Anikulapo Kuti when he died. Fela was born 15th october 1938 in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria to Mr. and Mrs. Ransome Kuti. His mother was a feminist activist while his father was a protestant leader and school principal. Fela studied music in London instead of medcine, he changed his surname from Ransome Kuti to Anikulapo Kuti meaning "someone who carries death in his pouch" saying Ransome is a slave name. Since 1977 he called himself Fela Anikulapo Kuti, the name of a king. Who is Fela? Some call him the greatest musician in Africa, some call him a rebel, some say he's a prophet, General Olusegun Obansanjo called him a goat, but i call him a G.O.A.T "Greatest Of All Time". A goat is a stubborn animal that does what he feels he should, he is never wrong, he needs nobody to guide him or correct him, likewise Fela. With what I noticed Fela lived his life how he wanted, probably he had it all planned or written out. He had rules and principles. He was a very brilliant man. His specie wasn't for that generation. I met a woman who said "I followed Fela before I followed Jesus". Just like how a good man works harder to keep the generation coming in good state, that's how Fela worked down musically for every artiste in the world. we have international rappers like Jay-Z, J Cole, Talib Kweli, Swizz Beats, Nas, Common, Lil Wayne and many more sampling his music. "Music is the weapon for the future" ~ Fela Anikulapo Kuti Fela wanted equal human rights, he lived like a king and he felt everyone else deserved too, he is an open minded person, he's the type not to have grudges against anybody, he was too accommodating, he built a home (Kalakuta Republic) where he stayed with many people, his band and their relatives. He was never selfish, to me he was the strongest man in Africa, the only weapon he had was music and he used it. Fela's power which is music was God given, it cannot be traced. He believed in saying the truth and making people see why he is not a goat. The goverment never gave him a chance, Fela was severely beaten, and his mother was thrown from a window which resulted to her death. The Kalakuta Republic was burnt and Fela's studio, instruments, and master tapes were destroyed. Fela would have been killed. Fela's response was to deliver his mother's coffin to the Dodan Barracks in Lagos, General Olusegun Obasanjo's residence, and to write "two songs", "Coffin for Head of State" and "Unknown Soldier" It's only a goat that would behave this way, it's only a goat that before you turn your back he's back at it, goats believe in going for what they want, like I said the only weapon Fela used against the government was his music, he never demonstrated violence. Fela was banned from Accra because the "crowd" broke out during the song "Zombie", which lead to a riot, the second was at the Berlin Jazz Festival after which most of Fela's musicians left him, due to rumors that Fela was planning to use the entire proceeds to fund his presidential campaign. Fela was determined to come back. He formed his own political party, which he called Movement of the People(M.O.P). He put himself forward for President elections but his candidature was refused. Fela created a new band called Egypt '80 and recorded his albums. He dissed the political establishment by singing the truth, and dropping the names of ITT Corporation - Moshood Abiola and General Olusegun Obasanjo at the end of a hot-selling 25-minute political screed titled "International Thief-Thief", "Army Arrangement" etc. he kept it real as usual. Fela and his band Egypt '80 released the anti-apartheid Beasts of No Nation. album. Fela was a goat, but he is still the G.O.A.T. Fela's memory lives on as the music goes stronger through his children Femi kuti, Seun Kuti, and every musician doing it for afrobeats. Baba 70 lives on! Fela anikulapokuti born 15th october 1938-2nd august 1997. .A.T |
