Mercy Johnson - Motherhood Changes Women

Posted: 30 Jun 2013 08:12 PM PDT

It's so sweet that Mercy Johnson is still gushing about love in her marriage, and how she is enjoying being a new mother. She seems to be keeping it real too, and her transition to motherhood has made her more down to earth and encouraged her to give to others who may not be as privileged. In a recent interview, she talks about the things close to her heart right now;

Motherhood seems to have changed you…

Yes, motherhood changes women. You begin to see yourself as a co-creator. You begin to see yourself as a protector. Few days ago, I was feeding Purity and she started dragging the bottle with me with the hot water in it. She pushed the bottle, I had to quickly push her away from the water and let it pour on my arm instead. That's the kind of protection I am talking about. I think it will also make you feel more responsible for other children as well. You begin to see them as children of some other mothers. You have a sense of responsibility to want to protect them as well.

How are you coping with your husband and the baby?

There's nothing like coping, he's making my job easier. He dots on her. He carries her, feeds and does everything for her such that she misses him when he's not around.  You won't believe she sleeps on his chest every night. He understands whatever adjustment I need to make when it comes to the baby. He's a loving father.

What about being a loving husband?

Come on now, you know that... He's the best thing that happened to me. People usually say men are not reliable, in the case of my husband he's a blessing. It's obvious we are his priority.

So, your step of faith is paying off?

Yes. I am not saying its perfect, but this is close to perfection. If this is what it feels to be married, I want to marry my husband again and again.

You were at OJB's house to see him and donate money, now you are here to donate to the Boys
Reform Home in Lagos. What's the idea?

No idea, we are just promoting the ideals of Mercy Johnson Foundation.  The idea is to identify the needs, evaluate and help in our own little way. All fingers are not equal; those in position to help should do so without hesitation. You will be hearing a lot about Mercy Johnson Foundation from now on. We have put our house in order and now ready to help those we can. I strongly believe that as stars we should live beyond the euphoria of stardom and the moment.  We will not always be here, what happens if you look back and realise you could do a lot to make the world better when you had the spotlight and you didn't? I want to live beyond the moment.

Why the reform homes in Lagos?

I know I'm not glamorous to a lot of people, but we must know that if we do charitable things for publicity alone, we defeat the purpose. We need to find ways to reform young boys and girls otherwise they will make life uncomfortable for the children of the privileged. At this point, I must commend the government of Lagos State for making efforts at reforming the kids. We are looking at what we can do with the state to help make the future of these children better.

Real Housewives' Nene Leakes Remarries Her Husband Gregg

Posted: 30 Jun 2013 09:04 AM PDT

Nene Leakes is someone I had previously seen more of in the NBC comedy The New Normal, but I also knew she came to fame as being on the cast of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. During our last vacation, I got to watch several episodes of the RHOA reunion. One of story strands was that Nene had just got engaged to her husband, Gregg Leakes, whom she had divorced after they had some issues, and they would be walking down the aisle again soon.

Nene Leakes and Gregg, who had been married for 15 years before their divorce last year, got married for the second time to add more years to that. I wish them a forever marriage this time around.

Some details about the wedding include the fact that Gregg presented Nene with a 10-carat diamond band to go along with her 15.2-carat engagement ring. The event which had an old-Hollywood them had about 400 guests, with Fantasia Barrino, Vivica A. Fox, Andrea Kelly and several of the ladies from the other Real Housewives Franchise in attendance.Their two sons Brentt Leakes and Bryson Bryant were the ones who walked her down the aisle, and for Nene, that was one of the most special parts of the day.

"That was so emotional for me. And Gregg telling me I was beautiful — that was really special. I had a lot of teary moments."

Nene had told the magazine before the wedding:

"I feel amazing. Both of us want this, so it will definitely work this time. I know exactly what I'm getting myself into. I came up with the idea of having an Old Hollywood theme because I thought it would be completely fabulous and everyone would be able to have fun with it "I just did it my way!"

She also said she wanted her bridesmaids to look like brides themselves, and think they did a great job with their gowns.

Movie Trailer - Torn by Moses Inwang

Posted: 30 Jun 2013 03:07 AM PDT

I just checked the producer, Moses Inwang's body of work on IrokoTV and I've seen Behind the Melody and Damage. I loved the message and story line in BTM with Ini Edo much better but both movies are well shot and lack the spare tyres that drag down a lot of Nollywood movies.

Mose Inwang's latest movie is Torn, starring Ireti Doyle, Joseph Benjamin, Monalisa Chinda and Bimbo Manuel, and Julius Agwu. If the trailer is anything to go by, then it would be one of the best I've seen. I hope it's coming to IrokoTV.

According to BN, Torn is a psychological and emotional thriller of two friends Ovu and Nana, who both believe they are married to the same man – Olumide.

Who is lying and who is suffering from multiple personality disorder? There begins the unravelling of the truth by a top psychologist of what really is going on behind the façade of a seemingly happy, young couple and their perfect family friend.

A Web Series by Gbenga Salu - 10:10 Episode 1 - 4

Posted: 30 Jun 2013 01:06 AM PDT

I started this webseries last week and was immediately captivated. The series great storyline, and wonderful actors Evaezi Ogoro, Tope Gbenga-Salu, Emmanuel Ifenna-Kings and Francis Azubuike. Some of the character portraits are below.

SYNOPSIS:
A family's simple night sleep is interrupted by a gang of three desperate ruthless thieves who are on the run after a robbery gone wrong. The family is held hostage and must accommodate the unwelcome guests until dawn when they can then safely make their escape. The night soon goes from plain bad to insanely ugly as a lot of secrets are revealed with devastating consequences.

My only problem with this series so far? The episodes are too short! The good thing though is that each episode ends in a well executed climax. The series is directed by Gbenga Salu, one director that is turning out to be one of my favorites. 10:10 is a five-part series; so I'm eagerly waiting the final episode next week.

What do you think? Did it grab you as it did me? Who is your favorite character so far?
