It is not as if I am ready, it is something that is inevitable – something that is going to happen; I am just waiting for it."My mother is still grieving. I have sent some people to talk to her that I am sorry. I want to give her time. I have talked to my sister. I have asked for forgiveness," When asked whether he had been under the influence of drugs, the suspect confessed that he took drugs but denied being under the influence on the day of the murder. He said his action was not planned. "The incident happened around 1 a.m. when the church would have been sleeping by then. It was anger that led me to this. There was an argument between us and I stood up to him. He beat me with a stick and bit me with his teeth repeatedly. Just the two of us were at home; my mother was in Abuja,"  Tolani said his father was the one that first went to the kitchen to get a wooden spoon which he used to hit him repeatedly. Fatal Car Accident On Ibadan Road: Pregnant Woman, 5 Others Crushed To Death! Posted: 08 Jul 2014 10:35 AM PDT A fatal car accident occurred at Agbala junction in Egbeda LGA of Oyo state has led to the untimely death of 6 people. The car crash happened on the ever-busy Ife‑Ibadan Road when a commercial car, with number plate, YNF 963 AA, reportedly crossed the road unexpectedly while the on‑coming vehicles ran into it. The corpses were said to have been taken to Oluyoro Catholic Hospital at Apomu in Osun State. Confirming the accident, Mr. Abiodun Akinlade, the Egbeda Unit Commander of the FRSC said: "The accident happened around 7:30 am on Ife‑Ibadan road at Agbala junction. Posted: 08 Jul 2014 08:48 AM PDT The Federal Government announced, yesterday, that it was getting nearer to finding the over 200 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists on April 14 from Chibok, Borno State. This is just as the military also said that troops have taken over Balmo forest in Bauchi and killed over 45 terrorists in an encounter, capturing foreign mercenaries and weapons. The abducted schoolgirls were writing their school certificate examinations when they were abducted after they were lured away on the pretext by the terrorists that they were soldiers sent to rescue them from insurgents. They were allegedly herded into some lorries and ferreted away to unknown destinations. One of the Boko Haram leaders who masterminded the abduction has however been arrested. Coordinator of the National Information Centre, NIC, Mike Omeri, said security agencies have made much headway in infiltrating the ranks of the terrorists and were in possession of information that will eventually lead to the rescue of the girls and ultimate defeat of Boko Haram. Responding to accusations by Chibok community that Federal Government was not sharing information with them concerning efforts being made to locate and bring home the girls, Omeri said: "This centre has been open. We have always communicated and media houses have been reporting. But if they want security information beyond what we are communicating, then that is beyond us here." The Director General of National Orientation Agency, NOA, said part of the new information obtained about the dreaded group was that it has a female wing. He said a Boko Haram armourer was arrested, but that some of the other information were still undergoing administrative processes and as such classified. Omeri said: "We will let you know when further actions are taken. We now know some of the female operatives of Book Haram and some of their armourers." Nurse Fired for filming Neymar in hospital! The nurse has been criticized for not only recording the football star in that state but also for blowing kisses to the camera afterwards and laughing. She then posted the video to her Facebook page. Charly Boy was said to have assaulted a top government official last week in Oguta, during his father's burial ceremony, a development which may be responsible for the unrest he's currently battling with. News filtered into town on Thursday that Charly Boy, as he's fondly called, received a text message threatening to have him killed should he fail to apologise to a top government official who he was said to have embarrased. The maverick entertainer initially ignored the messages but after the threats persisted, he voiced out to his spokesperson. Police Arrest APC Leader, Ekiti State, Others for Robbery! [Photo] Posted: 08 Jul 2014 09:00 AM PDT The Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force, Adeniji-Adele Street, Lagos, on Monday paraded a chief of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Itunnu Odeyemi, and eight others, saying they were notorious for snatching exotic cars in the country. Punch reports that the police said Odeyemi was also an APC Local Government Area executive in Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State. Other members of the nine-man gang are Omoniyi Ajewole, Oluseye Jacob, Oluwadamiliare Rasaki, Ajisafe Olawale, Ogunniyi Sunday, Tolani Babatunde, Abubakar Umar, and Ayodeji Olumudi. The Force Public Relations Officer, Mr. Frank Mba, said the suspects were arrested after a victim, who was robbed of two vehicles and other valuables on June 27, 2013 in Ile-Ife, Osun State, reported to the police. He added that the case was later transferred to the FSARS. It was gathered that the arrest of Ajewole, a 28-year-old man from Ilesha, Osun State, had led to the arrest of other members of the gang which included Odeyemi, who Ajewole also claimed was his political godfather. While speaking with journalists, Odeyemi denied being a member of the gang. He said he provided Ajewole with a locally-made gun, which the police have recovered, to protect him during the period of the recently concluded governorship election in Ekiti State. He said: Omoniyi (Ajewole) is my political thug. I brought him to my place and gave him a gun to secure me. I have never participated in any robbery operation, but he used to escort me with the gun. Having an escort was part of the gains of being a political leader. All APC leaders were working for the government during the election. Every political party, including ours has factions. That was why I gave him the gun, so that he could always protect me wherever I went. I also told him to be with me, particularly as the Ekiti election was approaching then. I had seen the gun on the ground during the 2007 elections violence in the state and had kept it." Ajewole, who was first caught by the police, confessed during interrogation that he had been working as a political thug for the APC chieftain. He said: "He had given me the gun to use in protecting him during campaign violence. But I had not yet used the gun before I was arrested in September 2013. I am not a robber. I prefer to be called a political thug. I was the only one the honourable (Odeyemi) gave the gun, and he also paid me salary." Punch correspondent learnt that after the arrest of the gang, the FSARS were able to recover 17 stolen cars in different parts of the country, most of which were Toyota and Honda brands. Three assorted guns were also recovered from them. Mba said the suspects would soon be arraigned in court. He said: "This is a case that started on June 27, 2013 when a Nigerian was robbed of two vehicles and other valuables and he reported the incident to the police. This arrest is one of the achievements of the FSARS. It led to the arrest of nine suspects who were clearly linked with not just the armed robbery reported, but a series of such in the country. An interesting aspect of the arrest is that Ajewole confessed to the police that he was not an armed robber, but also a political thug working for Odeyemi Itunnu from Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State. We want to warn politicians to steer clear of actions that are capable of posing a threat to the security of the country." Cherubium & Seraphim War Continues As Court Postpone Case! Posted: 08 Jul 2014 09:07 AM PDT A Federal High Court in Lagos on Monday fixed September 29 for continuation of hearing in a suit filed against the Cherubim and Seraphim (C&S) Church over leadership tussle. The plaintiff, Adepoju Arogundade, filed the suit in February, 2009, seeking an order reinstating him as the rightful leader of the C & S Church in Nigeria. Joined as first and second defendants are the Registered Trustees of the Church and a member of the church, Adebola Adewuja. The other three defendants are: Remi Beckley, Mary Oshode and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). When the case was called on Monday, Justice Ibrahim Buba asked the parties to return on September 29 for continuation of hearing. The judge said that the court would hear all pending applications on the date. In his statement of claim, the plaintiff averred that the C & S Church was founded in 1925 by Emmanuel Abiodun, and registered in 1930. He averred that the church had a constitution which stipulated the mode of leadership succession. "The constitution provides that after the death of a leader, the oldest in the church is to assume position as the next leader," he stated. According to the plaintiff, after the death of his father, he became the oldest member of the church who should be the leader. Mr. Arogundade stated that instead of appointing him as his father's successor, Adebola Adewuja was made the leader. He, therefore, wants the court to declare the appointment a nullity, saying that it contravened the provisions of the church's constitution. He also wants the court to restrain the defendants from further appointing a leader of the church, adding that the tenure of Adewuja had expired. The plaintiff wants further appointment of the church leader suspended until the case is decided by the court.
