Romance Meets Life

Sofia Vergara Dating Joe Manganiello - The Hottest Couple Ever?

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 08:06 PM PDT

Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara have started dating, according to reports which then say the two are just starting to get acquainted with each other. So maybe they're not?

Apparently, the two only met recently at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner in May, and above is the picture of the two of them meeting for the first time.

I think this is another couple made in blogger's heaven - most beautiful woman meets hottest bachelor?

Who remembers Jennifer Lopez and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, have we heard anything more about that?

Anyway, the reports say Joe has had his eyes set on Sofia for a while;

"Sofia is Joe's dream girl! He's been smitten with her for years. He's always had a huge crush on her. Things are going well for them so far."

Another source admitted that Sofia had no idea that Joe's been a long time admirer, and it is still very new;

"It's very, very new. They're having fun and getting to know each other."
"Sofia had no idea that he had been crushing on her for a while."

Some say this romance is new, I say it is probably non-existent.

According to reports, Zac Efron, 26, and Michelle Rodriguez, 35, are now a couple as they vacation in Italy. The two were photographed kissing and cuddling on a yacht last weekend.

They "were laughing with their friends, cuddling and playing a lot," says a source who saw them on Sunday. "They looked like a new couple very much in love and excited to be together."

The group spent about four hours on the boat, adds the source: "They were climbing, doing flips into the water, taking pictures of each other."

Well, fingers crossed for these two, I think they're probably just having fun :)

Klose Sets World Cup Goals Record + Some of The Funniest Memes On #BrazilVsGermany

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 04:40 PM PDT

Miroslav Klose of the German National team has become the top goalscorer in World Cup history. The striker is trending after his goals in Germany's semi-final against the Brazil team earlier today.

And the memes have started flooding in following the extreme thrashing Germany gave brazil today. Check on some of the funniest below...

Germany Vs Brazil - 5 - 0 at Halftime, Ends 7 - 1 And Germany Proceeds To Finals!

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 02:56 PM PDT

Twelve years ago, Ronaldo, Rivaldo & Ronaldinho's Brazil were tearing Germany apart in the 2002 World Cup final - how things have changed!

Germany is fairly tearing the host nation apart in this heated semi-final. Where is the Brazil that defeated all the countries in their group?

Germany scored the first 5 goals within the first 30 mins of the match. Let's see if Brazil can match that. Brazil has just about 20 mins to salvage any of the goals against them, but I doubt that's going to happen.

UPdate - The game has ended 7 - 1 to Germany who will now play at the finals.

A Slimmed Down Stella Damasus Debuts New and Sleek Hairstyle

Stella Damasus is currently on an acting hiatus from Nollywood and is focusing on some other projects with friend and director Daniel Ademinokan.

Stella Damasus is more commonly known to use curly and bigger weaves, but she debuted this sleek look on her social media pages. The actress sure looks great and I think the new hair and makes her look younger. And she made the wig herself too - " I am not perfect yet but working on it seriously. " she said.

I think she lost some weight too. Suits her.

What's your take?

Police control find a Nigerian woman working as a prostitute in the outskirt of Turin

The plight of trafficked Nigerian women forced to work in the sex trade has been highlighted by Paris-based photographer Elena Perlino, originally from Italy.

These Nigerian women are being trafficked to Italy under the pretence that they will be working as nannies or in factories – but often end up working the streets as prostitutes.

She began to notice the presence of young African women working on the streets during her commutes from Turin. She said:

'I decided to start from this surreal vision to tell a story. I have been working on the topic for several years, focusing mainly on the Italian connection.'

Perlino reveals that many Nigerian women come to Italy hoping to make enough money from honest work as nannies or factory workers to support their families back home, but are tricked by traffickers into working in the sex trade.

Arrests, violence and abuse often follow.

Traffickers demand on average more than 50,000 euros (US $60,000) for travel expenses and accommodation, with the women having to work as prostitutes until their debts are paid off.

Eighty per cent of women trafficked to Italy come from Benin City, Edo State, in south Nigeria.

The photographer explained: 'My work attempts to show a complex phenomenon that crosses Italy from North to South.

'This involves many cities including Turin, Milan, Genoa, Rome, Naples and Palermo and thousands of Nigerian and Italian people.'

Couple Love - Zoe Saldana and Marco Perego Married Over a Year

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 11:51 AM PDT

Zoe Saldana surprised many when she announced last year that she had secretly married artist, and long-time friend, Marco Perego in June 2013.

Zoe prefers to keep her relationship with Marco out of the limelight and has rarely discussed him in public, except to confirm they tied the knot in England and she is very happy.

RML celebrates the couple as they grow in their love and marriage.

Zoe and Marco Perego had only been dating a few months before they tied the knot, but Zoe apparently realised the relationship was right because it felt so different to what she'd experienced before.

"Zoe felt other guys she dated treated her like a trophy and underestimated her," a friend had told Us Weekly magazine. "But Marco treats her as an equal."

Another reason the actress is said to value her romance with Marco is because she had to do the running.

"She says it was a challenge to win him over!" the insider laughed.

Serge Ibaka Is The Naked Athlete Selected For ESPN Body Issue Cover [Photos]

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 11:01 AM PDT

Today, the sports magazine finally unveiled its official cover, which has NBA player, Serge Ibaka, who is also currently dating Keri Hilson, showing off what he does best, but this time, naked.

Last month, ESPN Magazine trailed their 2014 Body Issue with tennis champion Venus Williams posing nude, here, as she hyped her Wimbledon return. Yesterday, we also saw some more naked athletes.

On the ESPN cover, the Congolese-Spanish basketballer bares it all with his athletic body in the air as he aims for a net. In the story, Serge Ibaka spoke about fitness, choosing basketball instead of football, playing basketball in Congo, his past major injury and what drives him.

See another picture and read excerpts from his interview below...

On the first moment he played basketball: "It was in the Congo. I think I was like 7 or 8. My mom and dad played basketball too, so my dad was always asking me to come to see him play. So one day one of the guys who was playing with my dad, he said, "Hey, let me teach you something." So he took an empty bottle of water and was using it as a ball and he said, "OK, take one step and do two and then jump — that's all it is." I went back home, and all night I was doing it. All night. That's all I could think about. Even in the bathroom, I'm brushing my teeth and I start doing this. That's where everything started."

On his father pushing him to become a basketball player instead of Football: "In Africa, when you're a kid, every kid loves to play soccer, and I loved playing soccer. But my dad didn't want me playing soccer. He would joke, "C'mon, man, you're too tall!" Then he promised me, "If you start playing basketball, I'm going to give you my jersey." That's one of my favorite things from my dad is his old jersey. He played with No. 9, too. That's where I get my number from."

On Keri Hilson's reaction on playing while he had an injury: "It was not easy, that game, man. When I came back the first game, I was scared a little bit. My girlfriend was scared; she was thinking I was just going to play because of media pressure. And then my sister tells me, "I can't believe you are trying to play today, and yesterday you couldn't walk!" I said "Listen, whatever happens happens, but I need to be out there with my teammates."

Legal Marijuana Goes on Sale in Seattle and Around Washington State

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 10:34 AM PDT

SEATTLE –  Washington became the second state Tuesday to allow people to buy marijuana legally in the U.S. without a doctor's note as customers eager to be the first to buy pot lined up outside stores.

People began purchasing marijuana at 8 a.m. at Bellingham's Top Shelf Cannabis, one of two stores in the city north of Seattle that started selling pot as soon as it was allowed under state regulations. Several dozen people waited outside before the store opened.

The first three customers in line were residents of Kansas, in Bellingham for their grandfather's 84th birthday. Sarah Gorton, 24, of Abilene, Kansas, came with her younger brother Robbie, as well as her boyfriend.

"It's just a happy coincidence and an opportunity we're not going to have for a long time," said Sarah Gorton, a 24-year-old with dreadlocks and homemade jewelry. "I'm really thrilled to be a part of something that I never thought would happen."

The start of legal pot sales in Washington marks a major step that's been 20 months in the making.

Washington and Colorado stunned much of the world by voting in November 2012 to legalize marijuana for adults over 21, and to create state-licensed systems for growing, selling and taxing the pot. Sales began in Colorado on Jan. 1.

Washington issued its first 24 retail licenses Monday, though not all businesses planned to start selling weed on Tuesday.  It's been a bit of a bumpy ride in Washington state, with product shortages expected as growers and sellers scramble to get ready.

Pot prices were expected to reach $25 a gram or higher on the first day of sales -- twice what people pay in the state's unregulated medical marijuana dispensaries. That was largely due to the short supply of legally produced pot in the state. Although more than 2,600 people applied to become licensed growers, fewer than 100 have been approved -- and only about a dozen were ready to harvest by early this month.

Colorado already had a regulated medical marijuana system, making for a smoother transition when it allowed those dispensaries to start selling to recreational pot shops on Jan. 1.

Washington's medical system is unregulated, so officials here were starting from scratch as they immersed themselves in the pot world and tried to come up with regulations that made sense for the industry and the public. The regulations include protocols for testing marijuana, what types of edibles should be allowed, requirements for child-resistant packaging, how much criminal history is too much to get a license, and what types of security systems pot shops and growers should have.

Washington law allows the sale of up to an ounce of dried marijuana, 16 ounces of pot-infused solids, 72 ounces of pot-infused liquids or 7 grams of concentrated marijuana, like hashish, to adults over 21.

Would You Use a Contraceptive Computer Chip That Works For 16 Years?

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 10:02 AM PDT

A computer chip contraceptive that can be adjusted using remote control has been developed as an option for women's birth control. When implanted under a woman's skin, the chip will continue to release a small dose of the hormone, levonorgestrel, into her bloodstream daily for 16 years.

This will happen every day, but can be stopped at any time by using the wireless remote control.

Developed by a company in the US, the project has been backed by Bill Gates, and will be submitted for pre-clinical testing in the US next year - and possibly go on sale by 2018.

The device is small enough for size not to be a deterrent, and is "competitively priced" the creators said.

Would you use this? Check out the details and some people's reactions below..

Tiny reservoirs of the hormone are stored on a 1.5cm-wide microchip within the device.

A small electric charge melts an ultra-thin seal around the levonorgestrel, releasing the 30 microgram dose into the body.

There are other types of contraceptive implant available, the researchers noted, but all require a trip to a clinic and an outpatient procedure in order to be deactivated.

"The ability to turn the device on and off provides a certain convenience factor for those who are planning their family," said Dr Robert Farra from MIT.

The next challenge for the team is to ensure the absolute security of the device to prevent activation or deactivation by another person without the woman's knowledge.

"Communication with the implant has to occur at skin contact level distance," said Dr Farra.

"Someone across the room cannot re-programme your implant.

"Then we have secure encryption. That prevents someone from trying to interpret or intervene between the communications."

Some of the BBC readers on Facebook have been reacting with funny and yet salient comments and questions.

Niki Ryan - I can just see the future headlines " my chip was hacked and now I've had triplets"

Jet Chi - Birth control pills should be for men. it makes much more sense to unload a gun than to shoot at a bulletproof vest.

Cathryn Raymond Olson  - Depends. Would my employer get to keep the remote control?

Rosie Earle - How about one for men

Roxanne Pollard - Nice way to get a tracking device in us,  no thank you.

Manuel Gimenez - If the contraceptive chip fails, do you give birth to a baby R2D2?

What say ye?

Me, I'm open to removing my uterus when I know I'm done, but this device is just too gimmicky for me. Daily remote controls and all that, when did a woman become a TV or home entertainment system?

See photos of the reality show participants below as they fetch water, eat local delicacies, and do the local punishment, 'pick pin'. There's also a video trailer of the complete series.

For those who weren't happy with the other BBC show set in a Lagos slum, this is not a good idea. What do you think?

Beyoncé Might Have New Half-sister As Her Father is Served With Second Paternity Suit

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 08:44 AM PDT

According to court documents filed against Beyonce's 63-year-old father on May 30 by a Houston-area woman, Matthew Knowles may also be the dad of a female child born in 2010.

30 year old lingerie model turned estate agent TaQoya Branscomb filed the courts document on May 30th where she named Matthew Knowles as the father of her 4 year old daughter.

Beyonce already has one half-brother she doesn't acknowledge, this means there may be a half sister to add to the list if these claims are true.

The woman says she gave birth to the child in 2010 in Harris County, Texas, and is demanding Matthew Knowles takes a DNA test. She is also asking for child support and money for her attorney's fees.

Matthew Knowles faced another paternity suit in 2010, after which he acknowledged that he was father of actress Alexsandra Wright's son. News of the affair with Wright led to his divorce from former wife and Beyonce's mom, Tina Knowles after nearly 30 years of marriage.

In February 2013, Knowles was ordered to pay Wright $12,000 a month, but that figure was recently  reduced to $2,485 a month by a judge after Beyonce's father claimed his income had dwindled in recent years. This has led to Wright and her little having to move out of their house [see pictures].

African American Woman Arrested After She Abandons Baby Girl on a New York Subway Platform

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 07:59 AM PDT

New York City Police have found and arrested an African American woman who was seen abandoning a baby girl on a subway platform they told NY Daily News.

Witnesses saw the African-American woman, believed to be in her 20s or 30s, pushing a stroller out of a northbound 1 train at Columbus Circle at about 11:50am.

The woman then darted back on the train just before the doors shut, leaving the approximately 7-month-old baby girl on her own. Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows the woman entering the subway with the baby in the stroller earlier in the day.

A 33-year-old bystander stayed with the baby for 20 minutes, waiting for the woman to return. When no one came to claim the child, the witness contacted police.

There were no cameras on the platform where the bundled baby was abandoned, and police believe the infant was intentionally left there.

The little girl was covered in a rash, but appeared to be in good condition otherwise, law enforcement sources said.

She was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for a checkup and then handed over the Administration for Children's Services, police said.

How can someone abandon this lovely baby, and in such an unsafe place as a subway platform? What happened to orphanages?

I want to believe it is not the baby's mother that did this, but it is so wicked. Many women are seeking for babies and this woman is treating this God's gift with such carelessness.

8 Easy and Everyday Ways to Lose Weight Post Pregnancy

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 07:05 AM PDT

By Kristy Jones

Most women gain extra weight during pregnancy. Weight gain during pregnancy is as a result of hormonal action. During pregnancy, the body releases hCG hormone which leads to a change in normal metabolism and nutrition.

After birth the action of hCG stops and all that remains is extra weight that needs to be shed. Losing weight after pregnancy is possible and all that one requires is determination, persistence and self-discipline.

The following are 8 easy ways to lose post pregnancy weight.

1. Eating healthy - Taking a healthy diet is the first step towards losing post pregnancy weight. A healthy diet should contain all the food components in the right proportions. - Avoid eating junky foods and skipping meals. Instead focus on eating a balanced diet that will nourish your body well and help in recovering the energy loosed during child birth. A healthy diet is also good for the new born since you will be able to produce quality milk.

Calling All Shopaholics, Dubai is Building The Biggest Mall in the World!

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 08:11 AM PDT

The world's first temperature-controlled city, Mall of the World, will house the biggest mall in the world and it will be located in Dubai.

Occupying a total area of 48 million sq. ft., the project will comprise the largest indoor theme park in the world, which will be covered by a glass dome that will be open during the winter months.

The project, with an area of 8 million sq. ft., will take the form of an extended retail street network, different to the typical shopping mall concept currently available in Dubai.

Additional districts within the project will include a wellness dedicated zone catering to medical tourists, a cultural celebration district as well as a wide range of hospitality options comprising 20,000 hotel rooms catering to all types of tourists.

Once completed, the City is projected to become a year-round destination, welcoming around 180 million visitors annually. Summer temperatures in Dubai are routinely well above 100F, and so the climate control is a necessity

The Mall of the World is to be located along Shaikh Zayed Road. But in its conceptualization, the project – which will be managed by Dubai Holding - will be nothing less than a city-within-a-city and also include 100 hotels

Additionally, the covered city will have health resorts, theaters, a Celebration Street modeled on the Ramblas Boulevard in Barcelona, and the "retail streets network" will stretch over 4.5 miles.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum — the monarch of Dubai and prime minister of The United Arab Emirates — describes his vision for The Mall of the World:

Our ambitions are higher than having seasonal tourism. Tourism is key driver of our economy and we aim to make the UAE an attractive destination all year long. This is why we will start working on providing pleasant temperature-controlled environments during the summer months.

This project complements our plans to transform Dubai into a cultural, tourist and economic hub for the two billion people living in the region around us; and we are determined to achieve our vision.

The growth in family and retail tourism underpins the need to enhance Dubai's tourism infrastructure as soon as possible.

We are confident of our economy's strength, optimistic about our country's future and we continue to broaden our vision.

All I can say is WOW! They plan for the complex to be ready for an expo holding in 2020.

Michelle Howard is First Woman and African American Four-Star Admiral in the US Navy

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 05:04 AM PDT

ADMIRAL MICHELLE HOWARD is the very first woman in the 239 years history of the US Navy to reach the rank of a Four-Star Admiral. And she's an African American.

Admiral Howard has faced critics who say she was promoted for political reasons rather than merit, a notion that both Mabus and Greenert were quick to dismiss in their remarks.

"Michelle has put in a tremendous career," Greenert said. "Thirty-two years of mainstream, at-sea, tough tours. Michelle came up through the amphibious expeditionary warfare arena and came into [Washington] and did the hard jobs that needed to be done. And so she is definitely ready to assume this position, there is no question in my mind."

A 1982 Naval Academy graduate, Howard has achieved many firsts in her career. She was the first black woman to command a ship — the amphibious dock landing ship Rushmore in 1999 — and went on to command Amphibious Squadron 7 and later Expeditionary Strike Group 2.

At a Tuesday ceremony marking her promotion to four-star and her assuming duties as the Navy's number two officer, Howard thanked her family and her fellow officers in front of a crowd of about 100 for their support over the years.

During her speech she reflected on the shared history of the Fourth of July weekend, saying that sailors embody the spirit of independence forged then and thanked sailors for the privilege to lead them.

"If you don't believe today was a first, when I called to order four-star shoulder boards for women, they didn't exist. A special contract was let, and you folks are seeing the first set in the history of the United States Navy," Howard said.

Congratulations Admiral Howard!!!

Scary Tornado Photobombs This Couple's Wedding Photoshoot in Saskatchewan

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 04:06 AM PDT

This will be a most memorable wedding for the photographer, and also for this Canadian couple. A story they will forever tell anyone who sees their wedding photos.

The couple were posing for photos on their wedding day this past Saturday when a tornado suddenly appeared right behind them, far enough that they were safe, yet close enough to provide the perfect photobomb opportunity.

Saskatchewan photographer Colleen Niska was taking the newlyweds' pictures on a gravel road that she often uses for her shoots when the tornado made its appearance in the dark skies behind them. The photographer commented on Facebook:

I've dreamed about a day like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could NOT wait to post these! Pretty sure this will only happen once in my lifetime!

Needless to say, the images have gone viral. I find them amazing but also a bit scary, certainly unforgettable! What do you think is the best thing or worst thing to photobomb YOUR wedding?

Washington Post Collects Nigeria's PR Money Then Satirizes President Jonathan's Op-Ed

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 02:03 AM PDT

Last week, I posted [here] an Op-ed by President Goodluck Jonathan which originally appeared in the Washington Post under the title - Nothing is more important than bringing home Nigeria's missing girls.

Today, that newspaper proved that the article was a paid-for PR piece when a member of their own editorial team wrote a rebuttal to Jonathan. Karen Attiah slammed the president with a satirized version of his own puff-piece which contained hard-hitting facts of ways in which his administration have missed the mark in dinding the missing girls.

There was also the revelation that the Nigeria government is paying a US PR company $100,000 monthly to launder their image internationally. What a shame!

What Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan should have written
By Karen Attiah July 2
Karen Attiah works in The Post's Editorial department.

Last month, The Post published an op-ed by Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan answering criticism of his response to the kidnapping of hundreds of schoolgirls by the group Boko Haram. This is what he should have written.

I have remained quiet about Nigeria's continuing efforts to find the girls kidnapped in April from the northern town of Chibok, because, honestly, I hoped the world would ignore it as just another "African tragedy." But the attention brought by #BringBackOurGirls forced my administration to abandon its usual do-nothing strategy. I admit that for weeks, the Nigerian military was nowhere to be seen in Chibok and aggrieved parents had to resort to venturing into the jungle on foot to search for their children. But I assure everyone, we are doing our best.

I am speaking out now because national elections are in less than a year and my Washington PR firm needs to earn the reported $1.2 million I am paying it to reverse the criticism that has overshadowed all my good intentions.

I wish to assure Nigerians and the international community that, even though my military officially wrapped up its investigation into the kidnappings, without locating the girls, we are sparing no resources. We will keep the findings of the investigations secret, since my good-faith assurances are enough.

My heart aches for the missing children and their families. In fact, my heartache was so painful that I canceled plans to visit Chibok. Instead, I eased my pain by flying to Paris for a national security summit. My first lady, Patience Jonathan, shares in my grief for the families affected by the tragedy. She was so troubled by the agitation of protesters demanding their girls back that she told them to stop their actions and allegedly ordered the police to detain several protest leaders.

While terrorism knows no borders, and security threats rage on across West Africa, Nigeria has long been reluctant to accept counterterrorism assistance from the United States and other partners. Nothing is more important than stopping the machinations of Boko Haram, except maybe my desire to keep up appearances and show the international community that Nigeria was winning the war against the group. I know that I have characterized Boko Haram as a temporary scourge, but in the wake of the latest attacks and kidnappings of more women just this week, I recognize that it has effectively exploited the inability of the Nigerian military to put up any semblance of a sustained coordinated response. But in spite of all the challenges, we are definitely doing our best.

Despite Nigeria's status as a regional powerhouse with a population of 168 million, until now it had not occurred to me to collaborate with neighboring countries to fight terrorism. I wish to thank French President François Hollande for inviting me and other West African presidents to Paris to discuss this. When it comes to strategizing on African solutions to African problems, a European should take the lead. Besides, I do my best thinking in Paris.

My critics say that decades of neglect have led to conditions amenable to radicalization in the north. My detractors will point also to human rights abuses perpetrated by the military. Let the finger-pointing stop. I am sparing no resources. I propose to set up an international summit to organize a fact-finding commission of investigative inquiry to study the progress of ongoing investigations of corruption and lack of development in the north. I have again asked President Hollande to provide a forum for this in Paris, though I would accept the French Riviera.

Something positive can come out of the kidnappings more than 70 days ago. The world has seen what can happen when terrorism is left to run amok and the citizens of a country have little faith in the ability of their government to protect them. But I wish to assure Nigerians and the rest of the world that I am doing my best.

Alero Falope Confirms She Left Dino Melaye But Says He Did Not Physically Abuse Her

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 01:09 AM PDT

Alero Falope granted an interview yesterday to clear the air on recent events concerning her marriage to Dino Melaye and her conversation with his ex-wife. While she confirmed that she has left her matrimonial home, Alero totally denied that it was due to physical abuse.

Explaining the leaked chats between her and Tokunbo Fabiyi, Dino Melaye's ex-wife, to SDK, Alero said:

Yes, Stella I exchanged SMS with Tokunbo but I only did that because I thought it would remain between us and besides I needed to connect with someone who might understand where I was coming from.

Let me state here now that Dino might be a lot of things but he never beat me and that's
the truth. There were just some things I couldn't handle and that was what I referred to as living in Tokunbo's hell for six months.

I am not saying this because anyone asked me to, I am only trying to correct a wrong impression that has been blown out of proportion. Dino has never laid a finger on me. Keeping quiet on this means consent to the falsehood being spread and I am speaking up now to correct the wrong impression my chat with Tokunbo might have caused.

I left for reasons best known to Dino and I which had nothing to do with any form of Violence towards me. I just needed some space and quiet to think but regardless of my actions and his imperfections,i still hold him in high regard and still love him very much.Dino is a good man but like everyone else he is not perfect and he is still my husband.

Blast From The Past - When Lagos To New York Round Trip Flight Was N17,000

Posted: 08 Jul 2014 12:03 AM PDT

I can't claim to have experienced those good old days, but a lot of older Nigerians enjoyed the largese of a rich, young and vibrant Nigeria, when out Naira had value, and our country was respected around the world.

A friend shared this on Nigeria Airways newspaper advert from the early 80s on FB and a commenter added his own reminiscence -

Them good ol' days. I still remember paying N1,040 as airfare for Nigeria Airways to and fro London from Lagos in 1980 (British Caledonian then was N1, 240). Reminiscence.

do you think inflation accounts for the high price now, more than 10X what it used to be, or the general decline of the economy is to blame? Is Nigeria Airways still working now BTW?

Japheth Omojuwa Proposes to Girlfriend Damilola Ogunleye On Bended Knee

Posted: 07 Jul 2014 10:02 PM PDT

Japheth Omojuwa proposed to his girlfriend Damilola Ogunleye at a small dinner with friends last night. The new couple have been friends for a while and he was waiting for her graduation to pop the question.

The usually serious social media strategist and political blogger, turned mushy and romantic as he got on one bended knee to ask Damilola to please accept his ring. The ring was specially made by Rebecca Noff who explained that it was an 18K White gold with diamonds  and sapphires. Of course, Dami said YES!

The proposal was witnessed by a handful of their friends in Abuja including Abdulkadir Abubakar, Miss Augie, Mercy Abang and Shehu Ashaka.

Congrats to the couple! See more pics below...
