The Malaysia Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, crashed today in eastern Ukraine after being shot down by suspected...
There were 280 passengers killed as well as 15 crew members.

The Boeing 777 aircraft was hit by a sophisticated surface-to-air missile over territory held by pro-Russian rebels.Witnesses say body parts are scattered over a distance of 15km, suggesting the plane broke up in mid-air.

It is believed that the Malaysian Airlines pilots ignored several warnings to avoid the airspace over Ukraine. It is understood the Malaysian Airline jet used the Ukrainian route to save fuel as diverting north or south would have taken longer.

Ukrainian President, Petro Poroshenko
said;

"We do not exclude that the plane was shot down and confirm that the Ukraine Armed Forces did not fire at any targets in the sky,"

His Suffering Was Painful To Watch: Mandela’s Daughter Reveal

In an exclusive interview with CNN, Nelson Mandela's daughter Maki has talked about her father's suffering in the final months of his life.

Speaking to CNN's Robyn Curnow – the only international journalist to broadcast live from Nelson Mandela's funeral – Maki asserted that while his medical team treated him with dignity and respect, his death came as a relief after the agonising struggle his health had faced.

"There were times I was telling the doctors I think enough is enough," she said. "As doctors they had their duty to try everything up to the last moment, but for me as a daughter it was excruciating watching that."

Maki also talked about plans for the family to open Mandela's grave to visitors in a year or so, with plans in place for a visitors' center and memorial garden, where tourists will be able to walk around the grave and see it from a viewing point.

Prophet Ireti Ajanaku who is the founder of the Christ Revival Victory Chapel international ever since he was reported dead on Saturday, August 17, 2013 as it took a long time before his family and church members believed he was really dead.

The prophet was buried today the 17th of July, 2014. After the church service, guests present and family members proceeded to the late prophet's house where the corpse of the prophet was laid to rest.

According to E24-7 magazine, popular gospel singers Tope Alabi, Evang. Bola Are, Shola Allyson, amongst others who were always around the late prophet when he was alive, were missing at the burial today.

It was reported that the late Ajanaku was involved in a messy media war with Tope Alabi shortly before his death last year, where he lashed out the singer for no longer attending his church along with her husband.

This is bad!!! A Malaysian Airlines flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur has crashed in eastern Ukraine. There were 280 passengers and 15 crew members on board.

Ukrainian Interior Minister said all on board are dead and that the plane was shot down by Russian anti-aircraft missiles at 33,000 feet and at 500mph.

The plane, a Boeing 777, came down near the city of Donetsk, which is a border between Russia and Ukraine where a Ukrainian transport plane was shot down at 21,000 feet on Monday July 13th and a military jet shot down last week from the Russian side of the border.

The Interior Minister said pro-Russian separatists have been hunting down their planes for weeks. 6 Ukrainian military jets have been shot down in the last few months by the Russians. There's been military dispute between Ukraine and Russia for a while. And now they are shooting down passenger planes? The plane departed Amsterdam at 12.15pm and went down around 4.30pm.

Life! From international football ace to ship cleaner. Former Sunderland player, Kevin Kyle, who used to earn £10,000-a-week playing for the premiere league team now earns £800-a-fortnight working a 12-hour shift on a ship stacking boxes & cleaning toilets. (pictured above left on the ship).

Kevin, 33, who started the job on board the 300-capacity ship on July 8th, said he had no choice but to take the job,

"I'm trying to provide for my family. Many footballers pick up jobs after football but I don't see stories about them in the newspapers. I don't really want to publicize my lifestyle in the newspapers about whether I have a job or don't have a job. I have to work at some point to put food on the table and to provide for my family." He said

The dad of 3 was jobless for 6 months after his contract with League One minnows Ayr United was scrapped in January.

Managers on the ship reportedly warned his new co-workers not to discuss Kevin's former life as a footballer or bring it up with him as it's a touchy subject. Continue...

"Kevin started work on the ship earlier this month. It's sad really to see someone who was obviously well-loved by the fans seemingly ending his career relatively early." A source said

Kevin Kyle works on the Regina Baltic ship in Lerwick's remote Mairs Quay. Pictured above taking a break in the ship's communal room.

His duties include cleaning floors and toilets, making beds and stocking up supplies on the ship.

Apart from Sunderland where he last played in 2006, Kevin also played for Coventry, Kilmarnock, Hearts, and Rangers.

In a 2010 newspaper interview he said:

"Sometimes in life money is not everything. I know a lot of people disagree with that but I had all the money years ago when I played with Sunderland and Coventry and I p***** it up a wall gambling. So money doesn't always make you happy. The happiest I have been was the first year at Kilmarnock, playing football and knowing what my wage was."

Recall that some AGN members led by Ibinabo Fiberesima travelled to Ghana in March to play a football match with their Ghanaian counterparts? Well, that match brought Van Vicker to where he is now.

Van Vicker during the match sustained a very serious injury which made him hospitalized for days and later had to leave the country for United States for better treatment, but the guild abandoned him shortly after that he said. Hear him;

'I was first admitted at Sunshine Hospital in Ghana and later transferred to United states of America where I am still receiving medical treatment, but had to come to Ghana to continue with my movie shoot, and then go back for check- up'.

'I believe one of the responsibilities of the Guild is to support its members, or support the interest of Ghanaian actors. I am a member of GAG and that was why I went to play for the Guild and also to represent Ghana in the name of the Guild. I was told that the match was to celebrate Ghana's Independence Day and if for nothing at all, the Guild should have shown concern,' he lamented.

'I think it is a sign of ingratitude, because it's just like going to work for a friend and getting injured in the process and the friend turns deaf ears to how you are recovering' he said.

Germany's charge to claim Sunday's World Cup title has seen them return to the top of FIFA's world rankings for the first time in around 20 years.

The latest list, published on Thursday, has Germany moving up one place on the strength of their 1-0 defeat of Argentina ar Rio de Janeiro's Maracana.

Lionel Messi's Argentina are placed second, an improvement of three places, with the Netherlands leaping 12 rungs into third after their impressive World Cup third place finish.

The James Rodriguez-inspired Colombia move up to fourth (+4), ahead of Belgium (+6) and Uruguay while disappointing Brazil dropped four spots to seventh.

Deposed world champions Spain slumped seven spots to their new modest placing of eighth, with Switzerland and France (+7) completing the top ten.

Costa Rica's remarkable charge to the quarter-finals was rewarded with a jump of 12 places to 16th.

England's woeful first round exit resulted in Roy Hodgson's side dropping ten places to 20th.

The Super Eagles' performance and eventual qualification for the Round of 16 at the just-concluded World Cup in Brazil has impacted on the July FIFA ranking as Nigeria now occupies the 34th position.

In the rankings table released by the world football governing body on Thursday, Nigeria garnered 660 points and moved up 10 spots as against June's 631 points at 44th position.

Although Nigeria may not have been too convincing at the 2014 World Cup, their performance is still good enough to earn them a lift.

The African champions now place third in Africa behind Algeria and Cote d'Ivoire.

Algeria who is now ranked Africa's best team has 874 points to occupy the 24th position in the world, while Cote d'Ivoire has 850 points for 25th place in the world.

However, another African representative at the World Cup, Ghana, slipped down by one spot to 38th in the world and fifth in Africa, behind Egypt who remained static with 645 points.

According to the world governing body, the results of 111 international "A" matches have been taken into account for the current edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.

"Sixty-four out of these matches were played at the World Cup in Brazil, 46 were friendlies and one was a CONCACAF continental qualifier.

"The total number of international "A" matches taken into account so far this year is now 362,'' the FIFA Media Office said in a statement.
