Senator Zanna Says Chibok Girls are Being Raped on Camera and Videos Released to the Public

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 06:06 PM PDT

In an interview with Rudolf Okonkwo of Sahara Reporters, Senator Khalifa Ahmed Zanna of Borno Central said that Boko Haram members "are just raping the girls on camera and even showing them on video, releasing it to the public."

The Senator said;

Somebody told me that they were shown being raped, and in turn, it is the girl who was raped that came out kneeling down and begging the man to be patient. Do you know the reason why? They said when they rape them they shoot them. Therefore the girl after being raped, she curled down to the man, kneeling down and begging him to please be patient. So disturbing. And although I didn't see the video, the person narrated to me, he said he had the video.

The interview was recorded on the 24th of June in New York, 70 days after the abductions, but was released today, 3rd July. See the video and the transcript below.

Rudolf: It's been 70 days and people across the world have bought into this campaign, they want to see that these girls are freed. What is the situation now in Borno?

Senator Zanna: I left Nigeria almost three weeks now, but I have been getting in touch with my people and I'm enquiring about what is happening. I am also talking to different people who happen to know the movements of Boko Haram and what is going on about the girls and all what-have-you. But up till today I don't think a breakthrough is made by the government in getting the girls out. There is a rumour, not a rumour per say, but a statement from a friend in Cameroon, who lives at the border area, telling me that Boko Haram and the government are in conversation, they are negotiating. That was before I left Nigeria. But up till today, nothing came out of it. I asked him, "what is happening?" He said the government is ready to release the detainees which they requested, but they don't want to release or give them money because they are still fighting. Which is also, I buy that idea that if they are going to get more money, they may buy weapons. But my conscience is telling me that it is better to get those girls out and then go after the Boko Haram. To take them out is most important. Let them feel, let the government feel if their own daughters are in these particular girls; are they going to behave the same way? So as far as I'm concerned, although there are some moves to get them out, but because of the level of the insecurity in that area, particularly Boko Haram's capacity, and the government don't want to improve the capacity of the Boko Haram. It is reasonable, but it is very important for them to get those girls out.

Rudolf: A lot of people are worried, after 70 days, how are they feeding the girls, how is the health of the girls. Do we know anything about that?

Senator Zanna: Actually the information I'm getting, some of them are very disturbing. Although I don't want to mention but they are just raping the girls on camera and even showing them on video, releasing it to the public. And although I didn't see the video, the person narrated to me, he said he had the video, and he was narrating to me, and look at the situation. And then the other scenario is that the Boko Haram are now out of funds, they are not getting enough food. So they are going from one village to another, taking the little the villagers had, and going away. In fact most of the villages are almost moved out of their villages and moved to cities or gone into the neighbouring countries. So more or less they don't have any chance of getting food. So I don't know what they're going to do, if food is not available are they going to sacrifice to give it to the girls. And then, the other information I have, because you know the kidnap is a continuous process which they have been doing before the 200 and after the 200. So in their position, there are up to 500 or over 500 women who are being taken from the streets, on the main roads where they are traveling, or they go to the villages and collect them; all kinds of abductions.

Rudolf: People are also asking about the international community that offered to help and send in support staff, America sent in troops and soldiers. Why is it that we've not seen any kind of action, even if  the Nigerian side are not effective. Why are the international group not being effective in terms of taking action.

Senator Zanna: You know Nigeria being an independent country, the international community are very careful in their conducts. But they will really have or they're in a burden of guilt if they do not do anything about this situation because the situation is more than disturbing. Maybe the government did not give them permission to go, particularly America, they're in Chad. I don't know after my departure they must have moved into Nigeria, or they're doing something, I don't know. But they did not go direct to Nigeria. They are in Chad. So I don't know what is going on with the government. Since I am not around, I don't have much information on the relation between the foreign countries and Nigeria's government.

Rudolf: Can you tell our viewers what brought you to America? You were saying before you came on air that you went to the United Nations.

Senator Zanna: Yes I went to the United Nations simply because, there are so many people in my constituency from Banki area, from Kala-Balge area, Gamboru Ngala, I'm sure you remember Gamboru Ngala where about 500 people were killed by Boko Haram. And these people, even those who are close to the border, they go into Cameroon, spend the night, come back the following day, to spend their day. So there are a lot of refugees across the border, and they are not allowed deep into Cameroon. they are just by the side of the river. Some of them are in Fotokol, some of them are in Dabanga, some of them are in Banki, I mean Kolofata, and some of them are in Amchide. Nobody is taking care of them. They are just there, no food, no any facility for human existence. So therefore I became disturbed, I said let me come and at least get audience with the United Nations so that they can at least form a camp around that area. People are really really afraid to live in Nigeria.

Rudolf: Are the Nigerian government aware of this, that people are moving into Cameroon?

Senator Zanna: They are aware. I gave an interview to BBC at that time when the Kala-Balge people and Gambarungala people were moving to Cameroon. They told me they want to move to Cameroon and they're now packing. I told them yes go on move because you are not being protected. Since you inform the government to come and protect you and they don't come. You informed them of an impending attack, nobody comes to rescue you. So what is left for you is to move into Cameroon, where maybe you may be safe. So that interview I granted over 3 weeks now. So therefore I don't think the government is not aware, because the relief agency organization, NEMA, are aware. They wanted to send goods to that place, but even the transporters are not ready to  transport food to that area. So therefore what is left for us is to tell United Nations to come through Cameroon to give food to those people.

Rudolf: This question is about the presidential committee that was set up to look into the kidnappings. They've turned in their report and yet there are some people out there who believe that this kidnapping of these girls didn't happen. What do you say to such people?

Senator Zanna: I think they are not fair, at the same time they are not humans. If they say this did not happen, then they are not human beings. If you are sycophantic to government, you shouldn't go to that extent, where the lives of people are involved. Particularly vulnerable people like schoolgirls. You know? Even after the abduction there were a lot of killings that had taken place. But the attention of the world is on those girls, why because they are women, and they are very young, at their tender age, and if somebody is not sympathetic to that, and coming to deny that this has not taken place, I think he is not being fair to human community.

Man Cooks His Own Genitals And 5 Party Guests Pay $250 Each To Eat Them

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 05:13 PM PDT

Gross! A man who had his genitals removed seasoned them before cooking them for five paying dinner party guests, it has been claimed.

Mao Sugiyama, 22, who is asexual, had voluntarily undergone surgery to have them removed. Then the illustrator took his frozen penis and scrotum home from hospital and organised a party.

He charged guests around £160 per person to eat his severed genitalia in Tokyo, Japan. They were garnished with mushrooms and parsley.

Before tucking into dinner, guests sat down to listen to a piano recital and take part in a panel discussion, CalorieLab.com reported.

Mao, who goes by the nickname HC, had initially considered eating his own penis – but decided to serve them up instead.

He cooked the genitalia himself as he was supervised by a chef.

In a Tweet, he offered to cook his penis for a guest for £800. However, he ultimately decided to split the 'meal' between six guests.

He wrote on Twitter: 'I am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen (£800). I'm Japanese.

'The organs were surgically removed at age 22. I was tested to be free of venereal diseases. The organs were of normal function. I was not receiving female hormone treatment.

'First interested buyer will get them, or I will also consider selling to a group. Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location. If you have questions, please contact me by DM or e-mail.'

In total around 70 people attended the event in the Suginami ward of Tokyo. While five people tucked into Mao Sugiyama's genitalia, the rest of them ate beef or crocodile.

The people who ate his genitalia were a 30-year-old couple, a 22-year-old women, a 32-year-old man and Shigenobu Matsuzawa, 29, an event planner.

He Tweeted before the event: 'It's a once in a lifetime chance, so I decided on the spur of the moment to do it.'

He posted pictures of the event on his blog, but later removed them and said his decision to take them down was due to 'privacy considerations'.

Sugiyama made guests sign a waiver so he was not responsible if they became ill after eating his genitalia. They were removed in early April shortly after his 22nd birthday.

The dinner party organiser joked before the event that he would be posting his recipe online.

Guests said that the genitalia were very rubbery and tasted of very little, CalorieLab.com reported.

Suginami Police were contacted but did not launch an investigation because they said nothing had been done which was against the law.

Sugiyama, who is an illustrator, has also had his nipples removed.

As an asexual, his genitalia will not be replaced with artificial female ones.

Taiwanese Man Gets 80s Punk Hairstyle To Impress Younger Women Into Going Out With Him

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 03:21 PM PDT

That style may have looked good on Arsenio Hall and Mc Hammer in the eighties, but on this man, n this age of video games, it made him look like a plastic Lego toy.

When Wu Lei, 54, from Taiwan, was asked about the punkish hairdo, a perfectly right-angled flat top, he said he had wanted to impress a 23-year-old woman he had tried to chat up but she was rejecting his advances.

Wu, who is still single despite the expensive hairdo, said:

"I can't understand it. I make an attractive monthly income of 70,000 Taiwanese Dollars (£1,400 - N350,000). I adopted this hairstyle because I wanted to look like a guy in his 20s or 30s to attract the girl who rejected me. Or in fact any girl."

On the other hand, the young woman said the hairdo had made her even more unlikely to respect him as he looked like a Lego figure or character from the video game "Warcraft".

She said:

"My friends call him blockhead, I can imagine he might have found someone as he had a good and respectable job as a medical laboratory scientist at the National Taiwan University Hospital. But he should act his age."

Styling his hair was not an easy task. Wu reportedly needs to use up two cans of gel and spends two hours doing his hair. He can also only comb it once every 15 days to get rid of dead hair.

Despite the fact that he didn't get the girl he wanted, the hairdo and media coverage has made Wu a local celebrity.

Mya Goes Hard As She Addresses Rumors That Jay Z is Cheating on Beyonce With Her

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 01:21 PM PDT

Mya has completely denied the rumors that she has been Jay Z's secret long-term mistress amid speculations that he has been cheating on Beyoncé.

Yesterday, some reports of Beyonce's performance of her song Resentment, where she changed the lyrics [read here] during the On The Run tour, added the rumor that Jay had been having a long-term affair with Mya and that he has been paying her bills all the while.

But when an Instagram user asked Mya directly if she was Jay's mistress, Mya went hard against what she called "thirsty sources", and said if they bore false witness against Jesus, then she's not surprised. She wrote,

"Never did, never was, never will. Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that's the 'media' for you-especially today. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage too much for nonsense.

False rumors are crafted for ratings & numbers. And miserable, unhappy people need someone to judge to deter the attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives. If they did it to Jesus, they'll do it to anyone. God bless."

The Mya-Jay Z cheating rumors started from a MediaTakeOut no-name rumor post claiming that Jay Z had a longtime relationship with a "very short named R&B singer who hasn't had a hit in awhile and doesn't really even act or record any longer." "She basically lives off the generosity of Jay-Z and a couple of other guys."

Somebody commented that this is the most publicity Mya has had in a decade and that she's probably secretly celebrating. I doubt this is true, but for celebrities in a way, no publicity is bad publicity.

Meanwhile Beyonce and Jay Z keep the love burning :)

Genevieve Nnaji Slams Punch With Scathing Rebuttal - Never Called Nollywood Bland and Mediocre

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 12:07 PM PDT

A newspaper interview granted by Genevieve Nnaji to Punch quoted her as saying that she was not willing to return to Nollywood as it has been characterized by mediocrity and blandness.

Several players in the industry had called her out on the harsh words, and she has issued a rebuttal on her Instagram saying;

"I never called my industry bland and mediocre. Truth or not, they were NOT MY WORDS. As a person/writer, you can "assume" what you like about my thought process but DO not project those thoughts as "quotes" by me. It's distasteful, insensitive and quite unprofessional. It's insulting to those limited few working hard to make a difference in the industry. I am a product of Nollywood and my loyalty remains unshaken."

The part of the interview referenced asked the actress why she did not appear in more movies these days; and she had suppossedly said;

"I guess I haven't found the right script yet. Creativity and depth are the qualities that I look out for in a script. In the beginning, the movie industry emphasised quantity but things are changing and there is an improvement in trend. I am among the people who advocate for the improvement of the industry. So said, I am constantly watching out for the kind of stories I take part in. I am in support of movies that show a great deal of professionalism and creativity. Having practiced my art in international & professionally produced stories like 'Ije'; 'Mirror boy;' and 'Tango with me', I don't think I can return to the blandness and mediocrity that characterized Nollywood in the past."

Genevieve's rebuttal came with this picture that captures her thoughts succintly;

Mac Collins Chidebe, a Nollywood director in a statement sent out to the media, had lashed out at Geneveive about her criticism of the industry. The statement read;

"Genevieve has just insulted the industry that made her who she is today and what effort has she made to help improve Nollywood? Those days in Enugu when Genevieve was growing in Nollywood, our movies were not rubbish; she has grown now, made money, fame, popularity e.t.c, how much has she invested in this Industry that made her?

All the while she was busy waiting for Titanic scripts, Nollywood was trying their best to keep the flag flying waiting for her to come back and take the industry to the next level. Artistes should stop biting the fingers that fed them. We are watching and waiting for them to bring down heaven. We made them stars; we are waiting for them to come back and take the industry to the next level. Instead of blasting Nollywood, come and improve Nollywood."

Watermelon Pants to Keep Your Son Cool? Check! Check! Check!

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 10:32 AM PDT

Some children do have them. I mean they have some wacky but cool dads who will do anything to make their children comfortable, including pants made from watermelon.

Ruifeng Fan, from Taiwan, was the first to fashion watermelon pants for his son, to help the five-year-old Hao beat the summer heat.

Hao was always complaining about being too hot but the family had no swimming pool for him to cool down in.

Ruifeng said: "I gave him a watermelon to eat, which is usually the best way to cool down, and after cutting out the inside I suddenly thought that actually the watermelon itself could probably be used to make a really cool pair of underpants.

"So I cut out two holes for his legs and fitted it with a makeshift pair of braces, and he instantly had the coolest underpants in town."

In fact, the youngster loved the underpants so much that his dad later made him a watermelon hat and watermelon boxing gloves.

And now the trend has caught on, with other people posting pictures of their own watermelon clothing online.

One dad even created a watermelon suit of armour complete with a helmet and watermelon sword.

Catholic Priest Found With 1555 Child Porn Images, Pleads Guilty and Wants Release From Vows

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 10:11 AM PDT

A Catholic priest, Father Stanislaus Hogan, 63, who had 1555 child pornography images, (from 3 months to 16 years old pictures of children) in his bedroom at St Ignatius College in Adelaide where he worked has been charged to court after police found those images in his locked room at the college.

His main interest was in images of boys in the low-to-mid teens, the very age range of children at the school where he was employed.

But his lawyer wants the court to forgive him after pleading guilty, stating that he has done a lot of good in his life and he has also made clear his intention to apply to be released from his vows on August 14.

She pleaded with the court not to send her client to jail, but the judge said such a sentence would be 'manifestly inadequate'. Hogan, whose bail was continued, will be sentenced on a later date.

Meanwhile, a psychologist said Hogan had previously suffered with alcohol problems and depression, which were directly related to his struggle to reconcile his s*xuality with his ethical and religious beliefs.

Beyonce Shares Sweet Loved-Up Photos With Jay Z

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 11:44 AM PDT

OK, I think we've been over-analysing Beyonce and Jay Z's marriage recently, but it's all good. We want their tour to do well so we give them publicity, lol...

For now, we'll just celebrate them. Beyonce just posted these loved-up photos of just her and Jay Z as they take time off rehearsals during the tour on her website. TBH, I don't doubt that everything is great with their marriage, and if any kinks, only the two of them can work it out.

Wishing them all the best as they continue the tour.

Two Women Dump Their Cheating Boyfriend With A Highway Banner

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 08:06 AM PDT

People living in the UK driving down the M1 highway yesterday must have noticed a huge yellow and red banner handing over the expressway.

The poster read: "Steve Frazer you're dumped by both your girlfriends," and was seen by thousands of people commuting into Newcastle and Gateshead.

The banner was targeted at a cheating man by the name of Steve Frazer whose two girlfriends somehow found out about each other, met and hatched a plan to get their revenge on him.

The two women were the ones that hung the large red and yellow banner on a bridge where they knew Steve usually drove past on his way to work. The banner also featured a photo of the two women smiling together and a photo of Frazer himself.

And if Steve did not see it while it was up, he will surely see now it's gone viral online. It has also been seen by thousands of commuters in the Newcastle and Gateshead areas, and maybe one or two know him and can pass on the news.

Imelda Marcos Spends The Day With Unburied Husband As She Marks Her 85th Birthday

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 07:11 AM PDT

I remember Imelda Marcos, the former first lady of the Phillipines as the lady with many shoes, but she is making headlines on her 85th birthday for visiting the body of her husband, former president Ferdinand Marcos in Ilocos Norte.

She kissed the glass coffin where his body lays unburied since his death in 1989 and has lay in a temperature-controlled mausoleum since 1993.

She also said her birthday wish would be for her husband to receive a hero's burial, a wish which has continually been rejected by the country's government.

Couple Dress Up As Princess Fiona and Shrek For Their FairyTale Wedding

While most brides dream of throwing a white wedding which will make other women green with envy, this 44 years old bride painted herself and her husband-to-be green for their fairy-tale wedding based on the film Shrek.

Amanda, 44, and Nathan Gibbs, 39, wedded today after eight years together. Instead of wedding gifts, the couple asked their guests to donate money to Cancer Research.

They had lost a number of friends to cancer, so the couple decided to wed dressed as Shrek and Fiona and use the day to raise money for charity.

7 Daily Habits You Should Practice For a Healthy and Loving Marriage

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 04:04 AM PDT

Our habits make a difference in marriage and there are several habits of a healthy marriage that you should start today to improve your marriage.

Do you know that the discipline of practicing healthy marriage habits can greatly improve the happiness of your marriage? It is a simple fact but very true.

The little things that we do as a habit in our marriages matter. Take this helpful advice about adding these habits of a healthy marriage to your relationship and watch it improve.

1. KISS HELLO AND GOODBYE

Kissing each other hello and goodbye is a one of the best habits of a healthy marriage you could follow. Taking time for this small little habit is a way to say that you don't enjoy being apart and you are happy when you can be together again. This is one of the little habits of marriage that most of us are really good at in the beginning of our marriage. Then it gets dropped along the way. But it doesn't have to! Be intentional about keeping up those kisses!

2. SAY I LOVE YOU

Saying I love you to one another is so important. Sadly, it is something else we tend to get lax in as the years go by. We tend to think that our spouse knows that we love them so we really don't need to say it so frequently. That is skewed thinking; keep saying it. We all love to hear those sweet words, don't we? I really don't think they can be said too much.

3. TALK ABOUT YOUR DAY

When you first met the person that you later married, you probably talked all of the time, didn't you? Don't let that habit die. Many times in marriage, we get so settled that we don't try to talk to one another. We reason that we already know what the other person would say and besides, what is there to talk about? Start by sharing about your day with one another; that is a great opening to a broader conversation.

4. SAY GOOD MORNING AND GOODNIGHT

Sometimes, husbands and wives have to go to bed at different times or get up at different times due to family demands or work schedules. Always tell each other good morning or goodnight, even if it is only in a quick phone call or text message. This is a habit that bonds you together more deeply. Taking time to do that tells your spouse that they are on your heart. If you are fortunate enough to go to bed and wake up together, count your blessings and say goodnight and good morning with a kiss.

5. HOLD HANDS

Holding hands is something that you need to continue to do, even as the years go by. Holding hands is a sweet little habit that lets the other person know you love them and that you want to be near them. And did you know that holding hands has been found to be very calming, especially for wives? It also temporarily lowers blood pressure. It is one of those sweet little things that only the two of you can share.

6. PRACTICE SMALL COURTESIES

One bad habit many of us seem to fall into when we live with someone day in and day out is that we forget to extend small courtesies to them. Be intentional about continuing to say thank you and express your gratitude for things to your spouse. We shouldn't treat those with whom we live with any less courtesy than we do a stranger. It is only a matter of disciplining yourself to be well mannered with your spouse. You will find these little things make a big difference.

7. BE CONSIDERATE

Be considerate of your spouse. If you are going to be late on your way home, give them a call so they won't worry about you. If you are going back to the kitchen at bedtime, ask if your spouse would like anything. One great advantage about being considerate is that it often comes back to you. In other words, if you treat your spouse with consideration, they most likely will you too. Then you will both be happier.

Those little daily habits we practice can make a huge difference in our marriages. What little daily habits do you and your husband practice? I am always open to learning from you!

The Only Good Reason to Get Married - A Dad’s Letter to His Son

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 02:03 AM PDT

Dear Son,

It seems like yesterday you were blowing poop out of your diaper onto your mother's lap. Yet here we are, on the verge of the birds-and-the-bees conversation. The poop was way easier.

Before we talk about sex, though, I want to talk about marriage. Not because I'll shun you or shame you if you don't put them in that order—although I hope you will—but because I believe the only good reason to get married will bring clarity to every other aspect of your life, including sex.

Buddy, you're probably going to want to get married for all the wrong reasons. We all do. In fact, the most common reason to get married also happens to be the most dangerous: we get married because we think it will make us happy. Getting married in order to be happy is the surest way to get divorced.

There are beautiful marriages. But marriages don't become beautiful by seeking happiness; they become beautiful by seeking something else. Marriages become beautiful when two people embrace the only good reason to get married: to practice the daily sacrifice of their egos.

Ego. You may be hearing that word for the first time. It probably sounds foreign and confusing to you. This is what it means to me:

Your ego is the part of you that protects your heart. You were born with a good and beautiful heart, and it will never leave you. But when I was too harsh toward you, or your friends began to make fun of your extracurricular choices, you started to doubt if your heart was good enough. Don't worry, it happens to all of us at some point.

And so your mind began to build a wall around your heart. That happens to all of us, too. It's like a big castle wall with a huge moat—it keeps us safe from invaders who might want to get in and attack our heart. And thank goodness for your ego-wall! Your heart is worthy of protection, buddy.

At first, we only use the ego-wall to keep people out. But eventually, as we grow up, we get tired of hiding fearfully and we decide the best defense is a good offense. We put cannons on our ego-wall and we start firing. For some people that looks like anger. For other people, it looks like gossip and judgment and divisiveness. One of my favorite ego-cannons is to pretend everyone on the outside of my wall is wrong. It makes me feel right and righteous, but really it just keeps me safe inside of my ideas. I know I've fired my ego-cannons at you from time to time, and for that I'm truly sorry.

Sometimes we need our cannons to survive. Most of the time we don't.

Both men and women have ego-walls with cannons. But you're going to be a man soon, so it's important to tell you what men tend do with their ego walls—we justify them by pretending they are essential to being a "real" man. Really, most of us are just afraid our hearts won't be good enough for the people we love, so we choose to stay safe and protected behind high walls with lots of cannons.

Can you see how that might be a problem for marriage?

If you fall into the trap of thinking your ego-wall is essential to being a man, it will destroy any chance of having an enduringly joyful marriage. Because, in the end, the entire purpose of marriage is to dismantle your ego-wall, brick by brick, until you are fully available to the person you love. Open. Vulnerable. Dangerously united.

Buddy, people have sex because for a moment at the climax of it, their mind is without walls, the ego goes away, and they feel free and fully connected. With sex, the feeling lasts for only a moment. But if you commit yourself to marriage, you commit yourself to the long, painful, joyous work of dismantling your ego-walls for good. Then, the moment can last a lifetime.

Many people are going tell you the key to a happy marriage is to put God at the center of it, but I think it depends upon what your experience of God does for your ego. Because if your God is one of strength and power and domination, a God who proves you're always right and creates dividing lines by which you judge everyone else, a God who keeps you safe and secure, I think you should keep that God as far from the center of your marriage as you can. He'll only build your ego-wall taller and stronger.

But if the God you experience is a vulnerable one, the kind of God that turns the world upside down and dwells in the midst of brokenness and embraces everyone on the margins and will sacrifice anything for peace and reconciliation and wants to trade safety and security for a dangerous and risky love, then I agree, put him right at the center of your marriage. If your God is in the ego dismantling business, he will transform your marriage into sacred ground.

What's the secret to a happy marriage? Marry someone who has also embraced the only good reason to get married.

Someone who will commit to dying alongside you—not in fifty years, but daily, as they dismantle the walls of their ego with you.

Someone who will be more faithful to you than they are to their own safety.

Someone willing to embrace the beauty of sacrifice, the surrender of their strength, and the peril of vulnerability.

In other words, someone who wants to spend their one life stepping into a crazy, dangerous love with you and only you.

With my walls down,

Dad

Posted: 03 Jul 2014 08:04 AM PDT

After announcing an end to its 60-year stint as a weekly print publication, JET Magazine has officially gone digital with the launch of its first application. The magazine's publisher issued a media-directed press release Tuesday (July 1).

Johnson Publishing Company (JPC), launched its new JET magazine app. The app replaces the printed edition of the magazine. The new digital magazine app will add fresh content on a weekly basis, every Friday. Readers will be entertained by 3D images, video interviews, enhanced digital maps, audio content and photography from the JPC archives. The app will be available on all tablet and mobile platforms. There will be a free introductory offer of 30 days for all subscribers. (Press Release)

Hollywood actress Keke Palmer marks the application's first digital cover feature.

Inside the issue, the actress discusses what it was like growing up on camera, her talk show idols, and dealing with social media drama. "This is such an honor," said Keke Palmer. "JET Magazine was always on the table in my family's home and it's great to be their first cover as they enter into the digital age." (Press Release)

Instead of waiting by your mailbox like its print editions, the app will automatically update on a weekly basis.

Other featured celebrities on the app include Stacey Dash, Anthony Anderson, Trey Songz and Taraji P. Henson. Jet editors said fresh content will be added to the app every Friday, including 3D images, video interviews, digital maps and audio content. (Biz Journals)

The publication's run dates back to the early 1950′s and is most known for covering lifestyle topics.

JET magazine served as a weekly news digest for African Americans beginning in 1951, and is often noted for its role in chronicling the early days of the Civil Rights movement. The publication is now in an all-digital format, and coverage includes current events, entertainment news, healthy living guidelines and fashion and beauty tips. Instructions for downloading the new app can be found at JETMag.com and Ebony.com. (ABC 7 Chicago)
