Kefee Gets Community Burial in Sapele [Official Photos]

Late pop-gospel artist, Kefee (Irikefe Don-Momoh, nee Obareki) was given a community burial yesterday Friday July 11th in her hometown, Okpara Inland, Ethiope-East LGA, Sapele, Delta. 

After the first photos, official pictures have now been released.

The whole town ground to a standstill as Kefee was brought to the Akpevwoghene Educational Centre, Okpara Inland, around noon in a white SUV with 'Omega 1' as the plate number for the funeral service.

Her husband, Teddy Don-Momoh, clad in white had arrived earlier and received the body along with members of Kefee's family. The first took her into one of the classrooms and said some prayers before taking the body to the centre of the field.


She was also in a white casket and was laid in state in the middle of the school's football field while friends and family paid their last respects. The casket was not immediately opened to the public but a funeral service was held in her honour while Sammie Okposo, his band and other gospel artists took turns on the stage set up at the venue.

A number of entertainers like DJ Gosporella, I Go Dye, Linda Etukudo, Nene SoulDiva, Anny Ibrahim, Princess, Aity Dennis, Daddy Showkey, Tosin Martins and Nikki Laoye were present at the funeral.

The couple have shown some loved off pics off the stage, on their down time, but more and more, they are heating up the stage. Beyonce's sexy outfits, like this tights with the butt cut out [see here], are definitely having the desired effect, starting with her husband.

Malala Yousafzai To Visit Nigeria In Support of Campaign for Missing Chibok Schoolgirls

Malala Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban when she was 14 for campaigning for Girls Education in her home country of Pakistan. 

The young activist will visit Nigeria to campaign on behalf of the girls abducted from their school by terror group Boko Haram back in April.

Her visit to Nigeria comes almost 90days since the abduction of the girls and her presence is expected to add to the pressure on the Nigerian government.

Malala also turned 17 today. Happy birthday to her. Watch her talk about the missing schoolgirls below...

Malala has always supported the #BringBackOurGirls social media campaign from the beginning [see here], and had donated funds to help the girls when they return. She is due to arrive today and as well as meeting relatives of the kidnapped girls, she is expected to seek an audience with President Goodluck Jonathan.

23 Year Old Student Hangs Himself After Girlfriend Jilts Him, On It Was Father's 10th Year Memoriam

23 year old student of Maritime Academy Oron, named Effiong Otu, hung himself with a rope in his home in Calabar on Thursday July 10th after a girl jilted him.

According to his friend, Effiong got involved with the girl early this year and fell madly in love with her. On Wednesday Effiong called him to tell him the girl had broken up with him for no reason and has refused to pick his calls.

The friend advised him to try and see the girl so they could sort things out. He said Effiong called him on Thursday morning to say he had gone to see the girl and she embarrassed him and asked him to leave her alone. The friend said he promised Effiong he would call and speak with the girl but Effiong told him not to bother that he had given up hope.


That same day, the 10th of July which was also the 10th anniversary of his father's death in a car accident, Effiong hung himself.

After the family prayed and marked the anniversary, and his mother left for work, Effiong went to one of their neighbours to borrow a rope, locked his room door and committed the act.

Before neighbours could figure out what he did with the rope, he had already hanged himself. His room door was later forced to open, and they met his body dangling from the rope he had used for the suicide.

One of his friends who also rushed to the scene said Effiong called him before committing the act, that he should tell his girlfriend, blessing, that she should now be happy that he has killed himself for her.

His last Facebook post also shows he has been depressed.

His friends thought he was joking about killing himself until they heard the news of his suicide.

He was buried the next day.

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen just posted a throwback pic to her Instagram page of herself at 12-years-old with some friends dressed for a dance recital. Not too long after that, two years later actually, Giselle was discovered in a McDonald's by a modeling scout at 14!

Some are complaining about the scanty outfits, but we have to remember it's a costume. What is immediately noticeable are her long gangly legs, and she's already taller than most of her friends around the same age.

But Gisele has said modeling didn't come easy to her. She was rejected for some jobs in the early days because her nose was too big. Some say she has since had a nose job, but if so, it doesn't really show, her nose looks the same in the throwback to now.

OK, so maybe there's something there. Sofia Vergara was photographed celebrating her 42nd birthday with hottest bachelor new boyfriend Joe Manganiello.

When the news was announced, of the new hottest couple in town, even I was a bit sceptical. But it appears that even though their relationship is new, they're obviously taking it seriously.

Harry Potter Actor Dave Legeno Found Dead After Hiking in the Death Valley

Harry Potter actor Dave Legeno has died from heatstroke in California's Death Valley says authorities. He was 50. Legeno played the werewolf Fenrir Greyback in three "Harry Potter" films.

The British actor also appeared in "Snow White and the Huntsman" and "Batman Begins."

The Inyo County Sheriff's Department says hikers found Legeno's body Sunday morning in a remote area of the desert park.

County Deputy Coroner Jason Molinar says Legeno's body was partially decomposed and may have been lying for days in triple-digit heat.


Legeno's manager, Rick Bassman, confirmed his death on Friday. There was no sign of foul play.

May his soul rest in peace.

World Cup Fan Who Got L'Oreal Contract Loses Out Because She Hunted Animals in Africa

A 17 year old Belgian football fan who landed a L'Oreal contract after she was spotted cheering her team at the World Cup has lost the opportunity after the above picture of her hunting deer in Africa surfaced from her Facebook page.

Axelle Despiegelaere who is a fan of big game hunting, posed near the dead and bloodied Gemsbok antelope during a trip to Africa.

Though she said the picture was taken over a year ago, thousands of animal rights activists petitioned to L'oreal and their spokesperson officially confirmed to the Independent they have cut ties with her.

Axelle's pictures from the World Cup had gone viral and she was dubbed "World's most beautiful football fan". See the picture that attracted L'Oreal in the first place below...

Girl Plays Dead to Survive After Aunt's Ex-Husband Shoots Her Parents and Siblings To Death

An abusive husband, Ron Lee Haskell, looking for his ex-wife, tied up and murdered the ex-wife's sister, her husband and four of their five children because they wouldn't reveal where his ex-wife was.

Their oldest daughter was shot and wounded but played dead - the only way she was able to survive the mass murder of her family by her former uncle.

Ron Lee Haskell had forced himself into his former sister-in-law's house while looking for his ex-wife Melanie Haskell - she was not there. He then tied up everyone in the family and asked them to tell him where she was. When they couldn't or wouldn't answer, he shot all of them to death. Or so he thought.

Haskell killed his ex-sister-in-law, Katie Stay, ex-brother-in-law, Stephen Stay, and four of their five kids: a 14-year-old boy, a nine-year-old girl, a seven-year-old girl, and a four-year-old boy. 15-year-old Cassidy survived the shooting.

Cassidy told police she played dead until he left, at which point she called 911 and reported that Haskell said he was on his way to murder her grandparents. That phone call by Cassidy appears to have saved her grandparents' lives. Cassidy is currently in critical condition in hospital.

Haskell was finally apprehended after a standoff in his car, during which time he held a gun to his head.

The Spring constable called the situation "obviously a domestic situation that went south, probably a divorce or at least a separation."

And what do you know? That's exactly what happened.

Haskell was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence, simple assault, and committing an act of violence in front of children back in 2008. Ex-wife Melanie Haskell said he had dragged her out of their bedroom by her hair and hit her. Their children were age three and five at the time.

Melanie had divorced him and moved from Utah to Houston, where her sister, Katie Stay, lived.  A protective order was issued against Haskell, but it was dismissed in October. The dismissal had the condition that he would have supervised visits with his kids "until his therapist could determine he was no longer a threat to them." Instead, the couple agreed to a mutual restraining order.

Experts say that the most dangerous time for a victim is after they leave their abuser. Although it would be speculation to say Haskell would have murdered his wife if he had found her, it is worth noting that 46 American women are shot to death every single month by a current or former intimate partner.

9-Year-Old Girl Kidnapped at 6 Confronts Her Traffickers After She is Rescued by Police

Her real name is Iyabo but she was renamed Blessing after she was abducted at the age of 6, and spent the last 3 years of her life trafficked from one woman in Lagos to another who sold her along for profit.

According to the Lagos State Police Command who rescued her, Iyabo had been sold to different people and made to work as a maid. She was on her way to school when a woman wearing a pudah (burquah) took her away in her car.

She told reporters that she did domestic work in the various "homes" and each time she complained to people that she had been abducted, they beat her. The last woman threatened to poison her.

Eventually Iyabo was rescued and her abductors arrested after the woman who bought her for N130,000 tried to sell her to another woman for between N350,000 - N650,000.


The police say they are currently working to nab the ringleader of the abductors, so Iyabo can be reunited with her family. But until then, the young girl will remain in custody of the police, while the suspects will be charged to court.

They gave blessing the opportunity to speak to the women who were speechless before the face of the courageous little girl they had almost dehumanized.

Late gospel singer, Kefee, real names Evelyn Irikefe Don-Momoh, has been laid to rest at her hometown in Delta State. It was a sad ceremony with everyone crying at the life cut short. But God knows best.

He also talks about his personal life as well, the split with the wife he left behind in America that means he's living without the son they had together. Today, Dan is married to a Nigerian woman who has three children with him. Enjoy...

Where did you meet your wife, Lovina? 

In the theatre, at the Silverbird Galleria, about six years ago (2008), at about 11.00am. We were the only ones who came early on a Saturday morning to watch a movie. She was taking some kids to the theatre then she went to see her own movie and I was at the movies too. I was single at the time.



You were formerly married and you have a son called Joshua… 

Yes, back in the States, but I came first to Nigeria and then they came and they didn't like it and she took my son back. That's the only thing that hurts me; I wish my son could see what I've done, cause she took a little boy back home instead of letting the boy see what his father does and all the inspiration that I've been giving. It's painful, but I was glad that she found another man because I had choices of her being here and I told her 'honey I know we're going to break up but I have to do this, it's a job thing'.

Do you still communicate with your son?  

Oh definitely, he's coming. How old is he now? He's 14.



And back to how you got hitched with your current wife… 

I loved her stature and how she spoke when she was dealing with the kids. She was so beautiful, that when she entered the theatre she looked at me but didn't recognise me. She didn't know who I was and to me that was great. She was sitting at the back and I was in front. I remember I said 'I can't believe we are the only ones in this theatre, and then she said 'Who are you?' And then I said my name is Dan. We ended up sitting next to each other watching the movie together.

And you got married… 

And we got married a year later. You don't know how many times I was close to getting married, I really wanted to, but it was time and I found the right one and [with] Lovina, it was special. For me, talking to her on the phone was like talking on the radio. And while we talked, I kept saying this could be the mother of my kids, she's intelligent.

You have three kids now, how does it feel being a dad, living in Nigeria, married to a Nigerian woman. How do you relate with her family?

It's beautiful, her father gives me so much respect, he's such a cool guy, relating with them is great. I'm a family guy now, there are things you need to do to make sure they are ok, it's about leaving a legacy behind, and now I have three legacies. I didn't see the school fees coming though (Laughs). Now I'm so attached to them, I feel bad when I'm not with them. I've taught them how to swim, [because] back in the Marine Corps, I gave swimming classes so they are really good swimmers.

Would you ever relocate back to the US?

Relocate, yes, but my business would be here. The US is a great place, of course, especially for the schools.

When last did you travel? 

About three years ago. I want to set up these radio programs because I am making a transition, I am going to travel back again, my kids went back there two years ago to see my family and my family have been here, too, visiting us. ...
