| Shocking Story! How a 3 year old girl was stolen in Lagos while asleep with family at night! [Photo] Posted: 07 Jun 2014 11:50 AM PDT  The Ananis live in a small one-room apartment with their three young children.But between 2am and 4am on Monday, May 26, 2014, night marauders came calling in their home when Akuvi's husband was away at work in Apapa area of Lagos.Their target was one single thing; the couple's three-year-old daughter, Blessing.On Sunday (May 25) Sojine left for work in Apapa. By nightfall, his young wife and three children went to sleep, in the same room.But by morning, the girl among the children was missing.Akuvi, a trader in her 20s told Punch I woke up around 2am to plug our rechargeable lamp when electricity came on. Two of my children slept on the bed beside me while Blessing slept on the floor on a mat.I went back to sleep and I remember Blessing was exactly where she was on the floor when we all went to bed in the night. By 4.30am, I woke up because it was my turn to sweep our compound. "The first thing I noticed was that the drawer where I keep my children's clothes was pulled out and placed on the floor. I put on the light and realised my daughter was gone.I went to the window after I checked the door and what I saw made me scream, I wish I did not come to Nigeria for a better life. My life is finished now, my child is gone.My life is over, I can't stand this agony. I never knew a child could be stolen while asleep in her own house in the middle of the night. I knew thieves break in to steal money and other valuables, but I never heard of thieves breaking in to steal a child.This is unfair. I don't even feel safe again. The police are not helping at all. Had I known, I would have stayed back in Togo. I am finished.I am all alone. My husband, who is supposed to be here is suffering in jail. Police are not even telling me anything. Where would I search for my child? I cannot sleep or shut my eyes, all I see is the face of my girl and I cannot stop thinking about what is happening to her. Blessing is still missing and her father is languishing in police custody. All these have compounded Akuvi's agony. Her relations told our correspondent that they feared for her mental health because she had remained inconsolable since the incident and had started acting sometimes like she is not in her right senses. The police claimed she used an unothordox method to find the person that stole her baby. She was said to have taken the suspect to a seer's house, an offence responsible for her husband's detention. My children are suffering because their father has been locked up by the police. He is the breadwinner. Why are the police doing this to us? Why are they making us suffer more?"I am confused, I don't know what is happening to me. I can't find my daughter and police has detained my husband in cell," At the backyard of the house in which the Ananis live is a detached single room apartment, inhabited by an indigene of Calabar, Cross River State, a man called Sunny.Sunny's room is adjacent the Ananis' window. But that was not the reason Akuvi suddenly stood up that day and went to drag their neighbour out of his room, accusing him of stealing her child. She said, "Sunny always joked with my daughter in my presence that he would take her away. Few days before she went missing, a man visited him. Both the stranger and Sunny sat at the backyard.But when the man saw my daughter, he asked me if she was mine and I said, yes. He simply said she was a good girl. But when the man left, I had to ask Sunny's wife who the man was. She said she was her husband's relation. It was strange the way he tried to get information about my daughter. But I did not think it was anything.I had to hold on to Sunny when my child went missing simply because he always talked about my daughter." One of Akuvi's relations said.. "We wanted to try everything before it was too late to get the child back. The police visited but did not seem to be doing much about finding the child. So, we took Sunny to a seer's house. When we got there, the seer said the person who stole the child was an insider. We left the place and asked Sunny to take us to the house of his friend who visited days before. When we got to a house he took us to, he changed his mind and said it was not the place. He took us to another place and said he was not sure that was where he lived. When he took us to a third place and he seemed to be deceiving us, people who followed us started to beat him. But the police arrived and took him away." But a group of the Ananis' relations and neighbours showed up at the Shasha Police Division, calling on the police to do something fast about the missing child.Nine of them were rounded up including the victim's father and a nursing mother with her baby. The Divisional Police Officer, Nwachukwu Eburuaja, ordered them detained..On Monday, our correspondent learnt that the policemen investigating the matter at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, Lagos said Sojine and neighbours detained with him would not be released until he had paid N220,000. Our correspondent was told Sojine and his family could hardly afford decent three square meals in a day. When our correspondent relayed the accusation of extortion against the police to the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ngozi Briade, she swung into action and contacted the authorities of the SCID. Braide explained that the father of the victim along with the other detainees were accused of "trial by ordeal." She said, "When the family reported the abduction, the police went in and questioned the parents of the abducted child. But later, we learnt they took a neighbour they suspected of being responsible for the abduction to a native doctor, who said the man was the culprit. That is illegal; we call that trial by ordeal in law. "Later, police were alerted to an attempt to lynch the suspected man. A team intervened, rescued the man and arrested those responsible for the attempted lynching and trial by ordeal." Our correspondent provided her with the names of the policemen accused of demanding bribe for the release of the victim's father and the other individuals. But after making her findings, she said the accusation was denied by the concerned policemen. | Heart breaking story of how Doctors Medical Error Led to Dora Akunyili’s death! [PHOTO] Posted: 07 Jun 2014 12:29 PM PDT  > Akunyili, then 44, decided to travel to the United States, first to get a second opinion and then undergo the prescribed surgery. The bill for the medical trip was $17,000, including $12,000 for the surgery. During pre-surgery check-up in the US, the doctors told her the Nigerian doctors had made a wrong diagnosis and that she did not need any surgery. It was said to be a minor issue that medication would solve. She thanked the doctors and, to their surprise, said she was going to return the money meant for the surgery to PTF. That was strange. Nigerian government officials had devised a way of making sure such monies were not returned to the treasury. The hospital informed the PTF, under the leadership of Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, about one honest Nigerian they had found. Buhari, himself a straightforward person, was very impressed. He wrote a letter to Akunyili commending her honesty.NAFDAC Then came 2001. President Olusegun Obasanjo wanted to appoint a director-general for the National Agency for Drug and Food Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and asked for the recommendation of an honest Nigerian pharmacist. Akunyili's name promptly came up. Someone who had heard about her PTF record recommended her. There was a little problem, a Nigerian problem. Objections were raised that the minister of health, Prof. ABC Nwosu, was an Igbo from Anambra State and NAFDAC, being a powerful agency under the ministry, should not be headed by another Igbo from Anambra. It was also argued that the market for fake and substandard products were controlled by the Igbo, with Onitsha – also in Anambra State – a major centre for the illicit business. She was going to protect "her people", the antagonists said. Obasanjo, stubborn to the cause, ignored the observations and appointed her. She went on to do a credible job and ended up as one of the most outstanding public officers in Nigeria's history, celebrated locally and globally. She had lost a sister to fake drugs, and that was perhaps the impetus she needed to go on the offensive.Misdiagnosis Meanwhile, Akunyili always went abroad for check-ups and she was always given an all-clear. She continued to look robust and energetic, and took up another government job as minister of information and communications. But on July 13, 2013, something strange happened to her. She was preparing to travel to the United States to receive an award. The following day was her birthday. Her 59th, precisely. Then she fell ill. She was physically weak and having pains. She decided to go ahead with her trip and attend to her health in the United States. It was while she was there that new checks were carried out. Alas, she had cancer. The original diagnosis in 1998 was right. But the diagnosis at the point of surgery was wrong. She became seriously ill and there were fears she could lose her life. She was in the hospital for months and only returned to Nigeria this year when the doctors said she was improving. Her last public appearance was at the National Conference in Abuja, where she was a delegate. Pictures of a frail-looking Akumyili soon went viral on the internet. TheCable could not ascertain the type of cancer, but there are several reports pinpointing cervical – and some claim it was ovarian. Globally, cervical cancer is the second most common and the fifth deadliest cancer in women, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). | 'My illness was a blessing in disguise' –Kayode Odumosu aka Pa Kasunmu Reveals! Posted: 07 Jun 2014 10:37 AM PDT  How is your health now? My health is better now, glory be to God. What exactly was the nature of the ailment? I cannot really say what the nature of the ailment was but the day I got to know was when I went to my family doctor's hospital at Jibowu, Lagos. They tested me and said I needed to go to another laboratory for a more comprehensive test. When I went to the laboratory, they checked my heart and carried out some other tests on me and later referred me to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba. It was there that I knew that I needed to be thoroughly checked medically. That was how it started in 2009. It was there that I realised that I had problems with my heart, liver and it was getting to the kidney before it was stopped at LUTH. What are the lessons you learnt from that experience? I believe that everything is from God because before this ailment started, I was building a house in Ogijo, Ogun State and my friends advsed me to look for money for the roofing of the house. They told me that I should make sure I get about N3m for the roofing and I was surprised that it was that expensive. I asked them if the money was only for the roofing and they laughed and said yes. We were all discussing and playing but I took it seriously and was saving the money. I was able to raise N4m before the ailment started. I did not know that the money I was gathering was for my health and not for the house. I had to spend the money on my medication and that is why I said everything was from God. It is a miraculous thing. When I had N600,000 left of the N4m, I sold my property. I sold two plots of land at Ibefun in Ogun state. Later on, I had to sell my BMW car as well and because my son was also contributing money too, I had money for my medication. Later, my sister working at LUTH told me that I could not continue like that; she said I needed the support of the public. I declined and told her that I would find my way around it financially. She did not listen to me and went ahead to inform the public about my illness but I thank her and God. I did not know people love me this much and they give me money which helped in my treatment. Did you also sell your house at Ogijo? My house at Ogijo is still there, I did not sell it. It is still under construction. I have another house at Abeokuta which has been completed; what remains now is just water. I want to dig a borehole there because the water in the area is not so good. We learnt that Lagos and Ogun states helped you when you were ill, is that true? Yes, it is true. It is not that I went to the Lagos State government for help but I think government officials saw the news on television and in the newspaper and they reached out to me. They invited me to First Cardiology at Ikoyi, I was checked and from there, I was referred to about two other hospitals on the Island. Lagos State paid all the expenses I incurred at each of the three hospitals I visited and it later gave me N1.5m and that was all. Then the Ogun State government came in when my son and my sister went to meet the officials. My family went to the governor's office and explained everything to the officials there and they promised to get back to me the fourth day. To my surprise, the officials came and gave me a cheque of N2m. It was the grace of God. I was living at Mushin then but I could not keep staying there because I could not continue to pay my rent. I had to move to my sister's house for proper care. With the number of your appearances in movies, most people thought you were a rich man. Is that perception of you wrong? As an actor, you are bound to act any role you are given. If I have to act like the poorest man in the whole world, I would do it. I would have to change my style and my character to what is required to translate the role I am given. That is why I can act like a big man and people would believe. I can act like the president of America and that is an actor's job. What people see on television is very different from real life. There is a huge difference between Pa Kasunmu and Kayode Odumosu. Which would you prefer between being wealthy and being popular? There are three different things in life; being popular, wealthy and poor. If I am a wealthy man, it means I would be very rich and you know how you would meet me when you approach me. If I am a poor man, you would know immediately you get close to me while a popular man is known by all. To me, I love being a popular man than being a wealthy man. I so much love God for where he has placed me, I need money like everyone else but I prefer being popular than being wealthy because a wealthy man has no peace of mind. I might be wrong but that is the way I see it. Would you say that your illness was a blessing in disguise? Yes, I would say that it was a blessing in disguise to me. That is how I see it. There are some people who love me and who had been trying to get close to me but didn't have the chance to meet me. It was an opportunity for them to get close to me. How did you come up with the Pa Kasunmu brand? As an actor, it is not necessary to have a stage name but when we started in 1968, I did not join any group to become a star. No actor then would wake up and decide to become a star or a celebrity. We just acted and left but it got to a stage where I had to pick a name. Back then, we did more of stage plays and some people were calling me Akanni which was a character I acted. If you act a character well, the name would stick with you. When I left the Akanni stage play, I later worked with Baba Suwe and I was referred to as Baba Idogo; there is a place called Idogo in Abeokuta, and that was the character they wanted me to act. When I acted it well, the name stuck. Later on at Ibadan, I was with Olofa Ina and Abeni Saje, we were on set for a video recording and while we were on, Abeni Saje was meant to call me the name given to me on the set but she mistakenly called me Sir K. We had to re-shoot the scene. That gave me an idea that I could take a name that started with the letter K and I did not want to answer my real name, Kayode. When people were calling me Sir Kay, I thought it would not be a mistake if my stage name started with the letter K. I began pondering on it and ended up with Kasunmu. I could be Kasunmu as a young person and Pa Kasunmu as an elderly person. That was how I stuck to Pa Kasunmu and people received it well. Your character is known for the funny way you speak English and even the pipe you smoke. How did you come by those concepts? It makes me remember my friend's dad, he was a disciplinarian. He never took no for an answer and he did not take nonsense from anybody. My friend's name is Ladunjoye while we called his father Pa Ajayi. The man is dead now but I picked the way Pa Kasunmu talks from him. He also smoked cigarettes but I changed mine to pipe. I did not want to be smoking cigarette anyhow. How did you get into acting? We were living at a village called Iponri then in Lagos. It is still in existence but it has changed; it is no more a village. Then, there were some people who gathered together to form a group called Simbad Concert Party. We called it concert party then and I used to go there to watch them dance, sing and act. I picked interest in them. There was a time the man who beat the drums for them was absent for about two days and I volunteered to beat to assist. They said, 'you this small boy, are you sure you can beat the drum very well?' I told them to let me try and that was how I started in 1957. In 1958, I was invited to play a role for somebody who was absent as well. The person was meant to play the role of a teenager and I played the role very well. I was 15 years old at the time. According to them, I played the role very well because I was given a standing ovation and that was what encouraged me to go into acting. Would you say that your getting into acting was by luck or an accident? I would not say it was by accident; instead it was God's will. If God did not want me there, I would not have been going there to watch them. Also, the people who were absent would not have been absent or I might not have been there when they were absent. That is the way I see it; it is God's will. Can you remember how much you were paid for a role you first played? I think I was given five shillings. I was very happy and it was a lot of money then. I collected it and was happy and started having very big plans for it. I wanted to buy trousers and sandals from the five shillings. What was your parents' reaction when you chose acting? They did not like it at all, especially my mother because my father died in 1952. My mother did not like it at all because she thought actors were rascals. When I first started, I would not tell my mother where I was going. I would just find my way out and join the group without her knowledge. When she eventually found out where I was, she beat me there and I ran home. At what point did she accept you as an actor? It was later in my career when people started calling me the different names of the stage plays I acted in her presence that she began to relax. She would ask me why they were calling me different names and how I knew those who were calling me the names. I would explain and she would just shrug. Later on when I became Pa Kasunmu and people began to call me the name, she asked if I was Pa Kasunmu and I replied her that I was. She was shocked but from then on, she began to give me her blessing. How would you describe yourself as a kid? At home, I was a very gentle boy but outside home, I was naughty. I was the exact opposite of what I was at home. I was very radical and stubborn. There was a day when a young boy offended me and I told him I would show him. I was so stubborn that I was part of the people that killed a monkey in my area. I only planned and told my guys ways to go about an idea but I was never involved. That is why they called me father or senior planner. When the boy offended me, I warned him. I watched him and locked him inside the monkey's cage. I padlocked the cage and took the key away. They had to break the cage to set the boy free. His mother came to our house later in the evening to report me and when my mother asked if I did it, I simply asked her whether she didn't trust me again. That was how the woman was chased out of our compound. Everybody in the house attacked her because I was perceived as a gentle boy. During my primary and secondary school, I was called senior planner and when I got to Yaba College of Technology, they called me Father. If you were not an actor, what would have you have become? I was planning to become a lawyer but my mother and her siblings were against it. They knew that I could be stubborn at times. They knew that if I said no to something, I would not do it. They said that I could not become a lawyer because they would not want someone to kill me. When they said that, I knew they meant it. They said I should study another course in school even though they knew I had the brains to study law. I had to change to Business Administration. With my knowledge of business administration, I was able to manage a company where I acted as an administration manager for a transport company, SBTS, in 1971. Are you back into acting now? Yes, I am fully back. I am waiting to be invited and people have been calling me to ask if I am ready and I told them yes. How has it been coping with women? Women would definitely come but it depends on the man. You must have resistance and no in your vocabulary. You would not say no bluntly but have a mild way of saying it. You would find a way to draw them close, but not intimately. I have had many experiences. There was a time a lady tried to seduce me when we went to Abeokuta for production. I cannot remember her name now, but she was part of the production. She came to me and said people hardly saw me around. She was beating around the bush, probably not knowing how to say what was on her mind. She said I hardly mingled with ladies and that I always kept to myself. When I told her to say what she really wanted, she said she was not going home that night. And when I asked her why, she said I should not bother myself with the reason. I advised her to go and meet whoever brought her there if she needed any help. I told her to meet the director or producer and I thought we had ended it there but I was wrong. I didn't know how she got my hotel room number. Later in the night, I heard a knock and I normally joke with people who knock on my door by saying, 'come in if you are good looking.' Behold, it was the lady. When I demanded what she was doing in my room, she said that was an odd question, after all, she said she had told me she was not going home. She said that she wanted to sleep with me. I had to leave the room and called the director to report her. He rushed into my room and asked her to leave and that was the end. Anytime she saw me afterwards, she hissed and did not greet me. There was another incident that happened also in Abeokuta. I did not even talk to this girl at all and we never said a word to each other. She was not one of the actresses but she came around to meet her friend. We were watching a movie in the producer's apartment and when I felt like sleeping, I went to my room and behold, the girl was sleeping on my bed facing the wall. I woke her up to remind her that the room was mine in case she made a mistake but she told me she was aware. She asked me to be a gentleman but I told her that I didn't get along with strange women, no matter how beautiful they are. Reluctantly, she left for her friend's room but unfortunately her friend was having an affair with another person, so she couldn't sleep with them. I locked my door and did not really bother myself with what happened to her. When you look back at your life, would you say you have lived a fulfilled life? Yes. | TOO BAD! How a 19-Year-Old Girl was beaten & gang-raped by ex-boyfriend, his friends! Posted: 07 Jun 2014 09:59 AM PDT  The agony of the ugly incident that followed later was not just that she was gang-r*ped , her sister molested and thoroughly beaten up, she later agreed to an amicable settlement just because of fear of another attack. Crime Guard learnt that the ex-boy friend is the son of a serving Chief Superintendent of Police,CSP, attached to a police unit in Jos, while his mother sells food at Area K command along Badagry expressway. Narrating the incident to Crime Guard , the victim said: "On that day I went there at Ketu in Ijanikin to visit my ex-boy friend Kingsley, whose wife had just had a baby. When I got there, I met him outside, I asked him of his wife, he said she was inside with the new born baby. So, I went inside to see her. When I got into the house, the wife and the baby were not inside but I met two other guys. "I decided to go out but the door was locked, I asked Kingsley to please open the door so that I could go since the wife was not inside. His friends said I would not except I brought my younger sister. Then, I asked what for, they said my sister offended them at a party they attended recently. They said she denied them at the party which led to one of them been beaten by other guests at the party. They said they have been looking for my sister, that I should call her. "I told them she just lost her phones so there was no way I could contact her. Then, they brought out their knives and axes and asked me to pull off my clothes, and that if I don't take my clothes off, they would start cutting me little by little and then I will die a slow and painful death. I started pleading with them not to hurt me. But they refused and continued to threaten me. "When it became clear that they would harm me if I didn't yield to their request, I started pulling my clothes. After that, Kingsley was the first one that r*ped me while his friends used their phones to record it. When he was through, the second one called Ifeanyi aka Fabulous and the third one Asaly, took turns to r*pe me. After they finished, they asked me to wear my clothes, which I quickly did. They gave me my phone which they sized initially to call my mum, to enable me reach my sister which I did. They made sure the phone was on speaker so that they could hear the conversation between my mum and I. "Unfortunately, when I called, she said she was far from home where my sister was but promised to call back as soon as she got home. I told her it was urgent that I speak with my sister and she said she would be in the house within the next two hours. This was at about 12 noon. So, while I was waiting for my mum to call, two other friends of Kingsley came to the house and also raped me. When it was 2pm, they put their knives into a lit stove threatening to use it on my body if my mum did not call back. "I had to call my mum who said she was almost in the house. When she got to the house, she called me and I told my sister to come to the junction that leads to Kingsley's house because I didn't want her to come to the house so that they won't rape her too. When she got to the junction, she called me, I pleaded with them to allow me go to the junction to get my sister, that if they went to the junction without me, there was no way my sister would agree to come with them. Initially, they refused, but later, they agreed and instructed Kingsley and Asale to go with me to the bus stop. "When I got to the junction, because my eyes were very, very red and my face swollen, my sister knew something was fishy, she asked me what happened, I told her nothing that I have been sleeping. And she said that is a big lie that even when I wake from sleep, my face is never swollen. When she insisted, I told her everything in my dialect so that they won't understand what I was telling them. But one of them felt I was explaining what happened to my sister, he called the other three who were in the house to come, that I had finished explaining to them. "When I saw the other guys coming, I collected money from my sister and pretended that I wanted to buy water from a nearby shop, when I got there, I told the woman who owns the shop what happened but she said they won't be able to attack us outside in the open. While I was there, they started slapping and hitting my younger sister. I went there and was pleading with them to stop beating her. They said I should keep calm, if I didn't, they would deal with me also. So, I did. The attack drew the attention of commercial tricycle riders who were at the bus stop, they came to rescue us but were sent away after they told them it was boyfriend and girlfriend issue. I told them it was not true. "Luckily, for us, one of our neighbours, a soldier who lives in the same compound saw how they were beating us, he alighted from the tricycle to find out why they were attacking my sister. I narrated what happened to him. After, he was able to rescue my sister from them, they attacked him, when he tried to call his fellow soldiers for help via his phone, they snatched it from him. It was while they were attacking the soldier that I escaped to a relative's house nearby to call my mum. My sister also escaped after that. When I got home, I explained what happened to my mum who took me to the police station to report the case and subsequently, Kingsley and two others were arrested while others fled. Giving an insight into her relationship with Kingsley, the victim said, "Something happened between both of us while we were dating; I got pregnant only for me to discover that a lady was already seven months pregnant for him. So, I had to get rid of my pregnancy because there was no way I was ready to become a second wife. A close family friend who pleaded anonymity also told Crime Guard that the case was settled amicably later after both families met with the police. The victim, however, said they agreed to settlement out of court because of fear. "After we reported the case to the police, three of the suspects were immediately arrested in order to retrieve the video recording of the barbaric act but no video was found in their phones. The reason the family resorted to settlement was because we didn't want our lives to be at risk. | Comedian Tracy Morgan In Critical Condition after Fatal Car Crash Today! Ardie tweeted pics of Tracy on stage and of himself standing next to the bus. In a Facebook post he wrote, "We traveled back to NYC in style in a luxury Mercedes Sprinter. Road life is a good life!" That was posted roug 30 minutes before the accident. It's unknown what Ardie's condition is at this point, or if he was still on the bus at the time of the wreck.  The single fatality was a 63-year-old named James McNair. Tracy Morgan was in a horrific 6-vehicle accident early Saturday morning in New Jersey and is now fighting for his life. Morgan was riding in a limo bus on the NJ Turnpike after a concert ... when it was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer -- at least that's the way it now appears. Tracy's limo overturned in the wreck. One person in the limo was killed, and three others are in critical condition, including the former star of "SNL" and "30 Rock." Police say 2 tractor-trailers, 2 cars, an SUV and the limo bus were involved in the chain collision -- and, at this point, they do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. | END TIME! 2-year-old caught on camera smoking a Cigarette Like a Pro, on the streets (photo+Video) Posted: 07 Jun 2014 06:31 AM PDT  Footage of a toddler smoking a cigarette, just like an adult, on the streets of China has sparked outrage online. The video, obtained by video sharing site Live Leak, shows a child who is believed to be aged between two and three smoking the cigarette as adult onlookers can be heard laughing. All the people beside him, some passing on bikes clearly found the boy's smoking so amusing that none of them attempted to take the cigarette off him. At one point a woman – perhaps the boy's mother – chastised the boy but did not confiscate the cigarette which confirms that someone at home was definitely teaching the little boy how to smoke and his family found it okay. Carts were to be strictly driven by staff, unfortunately the star struck employee couldn't resist when Don Jazzy asked him to let him ride. She died in the Indian hospital where she was taken to on May 11 to receive medical treatment after her health deteriorated. Various reliable sources have confirmed her passing. She was only 59.
