Tracy Morgan In Critical Condition After Fatal Car Crash, Walmart Driver Charged

Tracy Morgan is currently in critical condition after his Mercedes Limo was backended by a Walmart truck-trailer. Tracy Morgan is best known for his comedic roles on "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock," and was on his way back from a comic event. 63-year-old James McNair who was in 's vehicle died in the crash while the comedian and three other passengers were hospitalized. The driver of the truck that hit them has been charged now.


According to the Chicago Tribune,

Morgan, 45, an unidentified 36-year-old man from Shelton, Ct., and a 43-year-old man from Jersey City, remain in critical condition, authorities said.

The fourth passenger who was hospitalized has been treated and released.

Roper was expected to surrender to authorities, and bail was set at $50,000.

A preliminary investigation determined that the tractor-trailer crashed into the van, a 2012 Mercedes Sprinter, as both vehicles traveled in the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike.

Four other vehicles were subsequently involved in the crash, and none of the occupants of those vehicles were injured.

Morgan was taken by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in critical condition and was in intensive care, said Gregory Williams, a state police spokesman.

The comedian James McNair, also known as Jimmy Mack, was killed in the crash, police said. McNair, who was 63 and lived in Peekskill in New York, was riding in the limo bus with Morgan.

Jeff Millea, Morgan's assistant, and the comedians Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton were also injured, along with three other people, police said.

Fuqua had tweeted a link to his Facebook page after the show. "€œThis is what it looks like from the stage to see a standing ovation from 1500 people. Then we traveled back to NYC in style in a luxury Mercedes Sprinter. Road life is a good life!" he wrote.

The crash involved the bus, two tractor-trailers, a sports utility vehicle and two other vehicles and occurred at around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning near Cranbury Township, Williams said.

"The limo bus is the only vehicle that overturned," Williams told CNN. "Looks like one of the tractor-trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that's preliminary at this time."

He said he did not believe alcohol played a role in the accident, but said that is part of the investigation.

"We're praying for the family and friends of the passenger who lost his life in the terrible accident in New Jersey," said Walmart President and CEO Bill Simon in a written statement. "Our hearts go out to everyone involved and we hope those who were injured get the care that they need and make a full recovery. "This is a tragedy and we are profoundly sorry that one of our trucks was involved."

Morgan's publicist, Lewis Kay, released a statement that reads, "Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital.  He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care.  We don't anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available."

World Cup Warning to Nigerian Wives and Girlfriends

To All Wives and Girlfriends; the FIFA World Cup in Brazil is almost here, so let us give you a few rules that will help all of us during the months of June and July;

 1. The TV remote control belongs to me for the whole month.

 2. Tell all your friends not to give birth or wed on any of the days during the World Cup because we won't go!

 3. You support the teams that I support.

 4. No talking during the game, wait for half-time or end of the game. Make sure the baby does not cry also.

 5. Repeats and highlights are as good as the main match, so I'm gonna watch them too.

 6. We can see movies/home video (no Telemundo and African Magic) provided actors and actresses are wearing soccer jerseys and they are in Brazil.

 7. You don't just pass in front of the TV if am watching any match, you better freeze where you are or crawl on the floor.

 8. Make sure you don't ask silly questions such as; "is this Chelsea versus England?"

 9. No funny faces to my friends when they come to watch a match with me.

 10. Smile every time EXCEPT when my team is Losing, OR ELSE!!!

 11. Ronaldo the Brazilian and Ronaldo the Portuguese are not related.

  12. Nigeria will make it to the final round. Do not dare predict otherwise. You are warned!

In Nigeria and most of Africa, having a male child as "First Born" has always been a big deal. For these people, having a male child is a cultural necessity. Husbands are hailed as "real men" when their wives have boys first. When the first is not a boy, some women will deliberately keep getting pregnant every year - though this is dangerous to their health and that of their babies - till they get the desired male child.

Battabox took to the streets to discuss this with typical Nigerians. Odunayo asked which child they would rather have first. Someone mentioned Mariam Babangida being a woman and Delta State cannot forget her in a hurry even though she's a woman.

"As an Igbo girl, in our culture they love boys .If you don't have a male child, the people of your husband won't regard you as anything," says one lady.

Dora Akunyili Died of Cancer - Peter Obi Confirms Death For Family

Mr. Peter Obi, the former Anambra State Governor, has confirmed Prof. Dora Akinyuli's death. He also disclosed that the former NAFDAC Director died after a two-year battle with cancer. He released an official statement on the late Dora's facebook page on behalf of the family. Read below,


PROF. (MRS.) DORA AKUNYILI IS DEAD

On behalf of the Akunyili's family, I wish to officially confirm the death of Prof. (Mrs.) Dora Nkem Akunyili, OFR, in a Specialist Cancer Hospital in India this morning at 10 am, Nigerian Time, after a two-year battle with cancer.

In spite her illness, Prof. Akunyili was unwavering in her belief in a better Nigeria. That was why she defied her condition and was part of Anambra State Handover Committee and the National Conference.

The last time I visited her in India, even when she needed all the prayers herself, she was full of concern for the abducted Chibok girls, security and other challenges facing the country and told me that she remained prayerful for the release of those girls and for God to help President Goodluck Jonathan to overcome all the challenges facing the Nation. She therefore urged all Nigerians to remain prayerful and committed to building a better society for our children. We all prayed together and I promised to be visiting her every month.

We thank all those who remain fervent in prayers for her recovery and urge them to remain prayerful for the peaceful repose of her soul.

Meriam Ibrahim's Brother Tells CNN She Should Be Executed if She Won't Denounce Christianity

Brother of Meriam Ibrahim, the Sudanese Christian woman who was sentenced to death for apostasy, in a new interview with CNN says his sister should be executed for leaving Islam. Al Samani Al Hadi Mohamed Abdullah had handed his sister to the authorities because, according to him, his family are "Muslim people."

He claimed that Ms Ibrahim, 27, was born as Abrar Al Hadi but changed her name when she was drugged by her husband, Daniel Wani. And if she did not return to the devout family fold, she should be hanged.

"It's one of two; if she repents and returns to our Islamic faith and to the embrace of our family, then we are her family and she is ours. But if she refuses she should be executed. Her now-husband Daniel – this 'priest' – he gave her magic potions drink. Or something that allowed him to convert her."


Ms Ibrahim, a mother of two, has been in prison in Khartoum since January on charges of apostasy – or abandoning her faith. During her trial earlier this month she told the court that she was never a Muslim, as her Muslim father left the family when she was six – and she was subsequently raised as a Christian.

But Mr Al Hadi said that his sister had cut off all ties with the family and disappeared – until, Mr Al Hadi said, "we discovered it was because they were hiding her in their house."

He continued:

"When she was caught, our sister's face was different, the way she looked at us was different. She was bewitched, like an unconscious person. She didn't know any of us. When she stood in front of the court she said her name was Meriam Yahya Ibrahim. We were shocked by that name."

And he said that the family would "not deny Islamic law" – even if that meant the execution of his sister.

"This is what the law states and we will never allow any distortion of that. If she dies we will have enforced God's word. The solution is that she is executed. As we have been ordered by our Prophet, peace be upon him: 'He who barters his religion you must kill.' The world should not involve itself in our family affairs. This is a family and these are our private affairs. We don't want outside involvement."



Meriam's sentencing has caused outrage around the world which were heightened after reports that her release was imminent were dismissed by the government in Sudan. Ms Ibrahim's lawyers have appealed against the sentence, and are currently awaiting a verdict. They have also taken the case to the African Commission on Human Rights.

Just last week she delivered her baby, Maya, and her husband told journalists that his wife has sworn that she will not renounce her Christian beliefs.

Dora Akunyili Dead At 59 - Former NAFDAC Chief Passed on In India

Professor Dora Akunyili, former Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and ex minister of Information, has died, a family source told Sahara Reporters.

 Dr. Akunyili died in an India Hospital where she has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment. She was aged 59.


Dora Akinyili made the news a couple of months back when pictures of her emerged, see here, where she was attending the on-going National Conference. She insisted then that she was well enough to be back to serve her country.

She has indeed been of immense benefit to Nigeria, especially in the area of reforming the pharmaceutical sector as well as food and drug smugglers and fakers, during her time at NAFDAC.

May her soul rest in peace. Amen.
