A woman came under serious fire for attaching her 1 month old baby to her wedding dress and walking to the alter during her wedding ..He reason was, she wanted him to be part of the wedding.She made it across several news sites after the picture was posted on facebook and many slammed her for not just carrying the baby in her arms..
She replied critics saying "the baby was covered by the blood of Jesus"....Hmmn

Unconfirmed reports from Philadelphia have told us that Stephen Keshi's 23-man list for the 2014 FIFA World Cup that is to be released shows that Keshi might have dropped Joseph Yobo from the squad that will represent Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Though the camp source told us that Joseph Yobo; the Super Eagles substantive captain for close to five years may has finally been included in the party to Brazil though it took serious wrangling between the coach and the Nigeria Football Federation.

After the friendly match against Scotland last Wednesday, a game in which Yobo played but made some glaring defensive mistakes – it was thought that Yobo would not be getting his 100th cap at the World Cup but with the release of the list, Nigeria may soon have her own centurion on the football field.

And before he finally dropped the seven players on Monday, Keshi had said: "These players have all convinced me of their abilities but they are also confusing me on who to drop or not to drop.

"It's a difficult decision to make regarding the naming of the final 23 players, but we have no choice but to do it, otherwise we will be failing in our duties.

"The players have been so committed, so professional that you feel like shedding a tear because some of them must just go home," Keshi added.

But some just had to go home and the decision has now been made.

'Nigerians Own 70% of the Houses on London's Most Expensive Street' [PHOTO]

About 70 per cent of buildings on Edgerton Crescent, in London are owned by Nigerians, the Chairman, New Nation, an empowerment-oriented group, Mr. Charles Dukwe, has said.

He added that citizens of the United Kingdom avoided buying houses in the area due to their expensive prices.

The philanthropist spoke with newsmen in Port Harcourt on Saturday shortly after unveiling the Queen of Compassion and Kill the Killers Initiative, a grass roots campaign against diabetes and high blood pressure.

Present at the event as brand ambassadors were Nollywood stars such as Ini Edo, Uche Jombo, Monalisa Chinda and Desmond Elliot.

Dukwe lamented that some Nigerians were investing funds from the country in Europe and other Western countries, leaving the people at home jobless.

He observed that Nigeria was going through a lot of challenges as a result of corruption that had brought rot to the system. He, therefore, called on Nigerians to embrace compassion and show love to each other.

Dukwe said, "There is a street in London; it is called Edgerton Crescent. Edgerton Crescent is the most expensive street in the world. Houses there are worth £3m to £4m.

"British celebrities that have money don't buy houses on that street. They will tell you it is too expensive. But 70 per cent of the houses there are owned by Nigerians.

"The thing that is missing in Nigeria is compassion. We want to use compassion as a value and drive it through people so that people can help each other in the society. Our aim is to make compassion a core value in the society."

He noted that the 'Kill the Killers Initiative' was established to attack the major diseases that cut short the lives of people in Nigeria and across Africa.

According to him, diabetes and high blood pressure form over 60 per cent of the cause of deaths among adults in Nigeria, just as malaria forms 70 per cent of the deaths among children in the country.

"In Nigeria and across Africa, we have failed immeasurably by paying little or no attention to principal diseases that cut the lives of our people short and thus leaving our life expectancy to numbers way below all the advanced nations," he said.

Joke Silva is a study in excellent acting. She is a delight on stage, on TV and in home movies. The Nollywood star, who has won several awards at home and abroad, is married to an equally exciting actor, Olu Jacobs. In this interview with Tribune, she talks about the state of Nollywood, her staying power and marriage, among other interesting issues.

COULD you tell me about your involvement in the stage play, Hear Word!?

I played three different roles in Hear Word! One of them is a gossip with the rest of my sisters. In this, we are trying to address some of the things that women say about one another. If we want to achieve empowerment and nation-building, there are some things we cannot afford to be doing.

That's one of the characters in the piece. Besides, we explored this idea of a family insisting that once a woman's husband dies, then, the woman does not count for anything, especially if she doesn't have children. That a couple is blessed with children is an extra blessing; and that you don't have it does not mean you are less of a woman or less of a man.

How would you compare Hear Word! to the other stage plays you had done, considering that you are working with actresses Taiwo Ajai-Lycett and Ireti Doyle?

I've been working with them for several years, so this is nothing new. I have a passion for stage plays and I have always believed in theatre. Along with my husband, Olu Jacobs, we've been at the forefront of continuing with the theatre movement.

We believe very much in theatre, though we are very much involved in films, television and radio. We also believe strongly in the theatre movement and are excited that it is taking off. We are looking forward to it flourishing. Concerning your question, I can't compare because each of my stage performance is just different.

Are you saying you prefer stage to movies?

No! I like all the platforms; they are platforms of expression for me. So, I find them to be very powerful forms of expression, especially when they are well done. Apart from this, it is nice to explore, in order to see how far you can push yourself as a performer in any of the platforms.

What is it like acting alongside Taiwo Ajai-Lycett in the stage play, Hear Word?

You feel like going back to school. The woman is just such an incredible professional. And I think theatre is one of her amazing moments.

How would you like to describe the state of the Nollywood now?

Nollywood is doing very well. It's been celebrated all over the world and Nollywood is in the process of re-inventing itself again. That is one of the reasons I have never accepted to limit Nollywood to just the past 20 years. I always say that Nollywood is actually a name that was found for the entire film industry.

The film industry has had several circles in its lifespan and one of the circles was the time of the Ogundes, the Ojo Ladipos and the Ade Loves; and then, another circle was when you had the Kenneth Nnebue's intervention and all that. Another circle is coming again, where you will have some people coming with a different kind of film.

You are looking at the Kunle Afolayans and the Desmond Obigalis etc. Each time this circle comes, it always raises the bar, which is exactly what we want. So, that's what I see happening in Nollywood. But Nollywood is in a place now, where it needs to solidify its structures. Like the late Amaka Igwe would say, the time for celebration is over; so, it is now time to make sure we have the structures in place-and that has been happening.

What then is your staying power?

Wow! It is God's amazing grace in letting me do a job that I enjoy. When you are doing a job you enjoy, you don't realise that you are working, until you get home or you are done for the day and exhausted. It is God's amazing grace for allowing me to belong to that profession and having an amazing husband who belongs to the same profession. He has made me to have an extra sense of self-worth for belonging to this industry.

Again, we are in an industry that is beginning to flourish and attract attention from various areas. One of the things I have discovered in my years as a performer, producer and mentor is the fact that we are at the stage, where Nigeria celebrates its performers, but doesn't support us with the necessarily tools to be able to take it to the level that is should be. It celebrates us and we celebrate ourselves (laughs).

But we've got to find a way, where the art forms are achieved properly. What do I mean? Our art form is part of our cultural memory. Without a cultural memory, a people will always make the same mistake over and over again, thinking that they are doing things for the very first time. A cultural memory is important for those who come after us to know what we are like and to have dignity about who they are.

We do some things as a people because we have not achieved our cultural history. Those are the things that I am saying. It's beyond money. Money is important for us to able to do the kind of things that we want to do. But there are other structures that need to be put in place and our cultural history is part of it.

As a star actress who is married to another star, what is it like at home?

The two stars are two very ordinary people at home; a man and a woman in a relationship, raising a family and living their lives together. Basically, that is it.

So, do you cook and do other household chores like everyone else?

I have never lied about that. I've never been the cooking kind of woman. When my husband met me, he knew. He was the one who used to do the cooking because he was so good at it. I used to do the cooking when I felt like it.

Sometimes, it was a huge success and another time an abysmal failure (laughs). I remember during our dating years, I cooked efo (vegetables) and it was drawing (laughs). He was just such a gem and he ate it (laughs). It's not as if my mum didn't teach me how to cook efo. Yes, we do all the housework and all the things you do as a normal family. For my husband, he hasn't had the time anymore. For him, cooking is a therapy, but it is a chore for me.

Yet, he will always tell you that I look after him so much. But I do that in other ways. Now, of course, we have somebody who does the cooking. We have people who do the housework and the general cleaning. For someone like my mum, cooking is also a therapy; keeping the house nice and neat is a therapy for her. But it is not so for me. I have friends who adore cooking. I would sit down, watch them and say, 'Wow!'

You two are seen as the Nollywood role models when it comes to marriage. What has helped you thus far?

One, we have great respect for each; two, we forgive each other. I think it is very important, even for young people who are getting married now. Sometimes, you hear things like, "Ha! Mummy Jay, I can never forgive him for what he did to me or…" Fine, you are entitled to your anger.

Over the years, I have realised that you must forgive each other. If you don't learn to forgive each other, it's not going to work because neither of you is perfect. Apart from this, we've learnt over the years to be honest with each other and to be honest about our feelings for each other.

How do you handle male admirers?

Thank you, but no thanks. You can't compete with the one in the house.

You always look cheerful. Is it a kind of therapy?

People who know my mum would say, okay, no wonder. That's how my mother is. But to get a smile out of my late father, you would try. But my mother was always the smiling one.

When you find yourself in some low moments, how do you manage the situation?

In my home, when I am in my low moment, my people know and they steer clear. But I have found out that by the time I have shouted here and there, I still go back to God. I just go back to God and lay it on His feet. I am not one of those who hand over very easily. I always believe that I can sort it out.

And that's one of the things my husband doesn't understand because in this kind of situation, he just sleeps. But not me! Finally, when I have done the sleeplessness night over and over again, I hand over.

You have been criticised by some people for being too emotional on the MTN-sponsored reality TV show, Project Fame…

(Cuts in) I don't care. It's because you see the growth of the contestants, so it just gets to the point when you feel that this person is normally so good. But at this particular day, he or she just happens to have a bad day, so he or she now suffers eviction. It's not as if they are not good enough, so it can be very painful.

As far as romantic first nights go following your wedding, this one is probably low on the list.

A bride and groom ended up in police cells after they allegedly attacked security staff while trying to book into their hotel after their reception.
The unnamed groom is alleged to have launched at a security guard cutting his face in the process.
Meanwhile, his wife - still in her wedding dress - is reported to have hurled racist abuse at the guards who were Asian.
Staff at the Hilton on Deansgate in Manchester contacted police shortly before 11.30pm yesterday.
They rowed with hotel staff shortly before the alleged attacks and were arrested soon after, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Nick Adderley, Chief Superintendent of Greater Manchester Police said: "Police officers were asked attend and we did so.
"We then obviously had to pain over the decision whether it was right thing to do to arrest.
"But it absolutely was and I support the officers who made that decision.
"We can't have a situation where, regardless of what ceremony they have been to, people are allegedly being assaulted and racially abused."

    "It is on record that on the 30th of March 2011, I, Mr. Okechukwu Duncan Mighty single handedly organized a Celebrity Youth Endorsement Concert in Port Harcourt where I successfully endorsed over 18,000 youths who are eligible voters for the Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi
    During the organization of the event under the express approval of the Governor of Rivers State and his cabinet, he gave me the sum of Ten Million Naira through the then secretary to the state Govt. Senator Magnus Abe which totally went into the project. The Governor also gave me his word that the balance of Fifty Million Naira will be paid to me as soon as possible.

In pursuit of the said project, I thereafter raised funds through different sources including personal savings, loans and credit facilities, acquired operational vehicles and branded them for the project, procured several souvenirs, printed many publicity materials, paid for venues, engaged musicians from different parts of the country, undertook logistics such as flight/Accommodation/Transportation and welfare.

The project was concluded as scheduled and the results were achieved, but since then it has become almost impossible to have an audience with the Governor so as to get my balance.

I also visited the Government House on several occasions, and all efforts to get my money proved abortive.

However, the last straw that broke the camel's back was when the governor systematically started avoiding my calls and personal visits in a bid to deprive me of the balance of the money for a job which I successfully executed.

    It is also on record that I have not charged the Rivers State Government a single dime of m y professional appearance fee, due to my personal reason/resolve to give back to the society which made me, starting from the government of Rivers State as a mark of honor and respect.
    The rumor mills have it that the Governor of Rivers State has given me juicy contracts including all manner of flashy cars, but I stand here today to debunk such tales, because I have not received as much as a bicycle spoke from Governor Amaechi.

My love for the Ikwerre ethnic nationality, the Niger Delta project and the Nigerian dream has seen me working for virtually everything I own today because there is dignity in labour, hence I can never resort to cheap blackmail or character assassination of any person, group or association, therefore I stand to make this declaration that all I am asking for is the payment of my money, thus, this should not be seen as a political campaign of any sort.

Permit me to bring to your notice, the fact that many of his personal aids and security details have come to me severally, soliciting for financial assistance which I have usually offered them without any hesitation, not knowing that they all have the notion that their boss, Governor Amaechi has been favoring me through contracts, meanwhile this is not also true.

I have tried frantically on several occasions to meet with the Governor one on one so as to resolve this issue but all to no avail.

    Most recently I was invited to a dinner between the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) and the Governor of Rivers State. Immediately after my performance at the said event inside Government House I ran after the Governor to demand for my money in my usual way, but to my utmost bewilderment the Governor unequivocally told me point blank that I should remember that when we did that transaction he was still working with his former chief of staff, Hon. Nyesom Wike who is now the minister of state for education. This is exactly what prompted me to take this decision of writing this article in other to recover the money which I worked to earn.

This issue also led to the problem that transpired on Friday, the 23rd of May 2014 when I got to the Government House gate at 8am, one of the security details named Mr. Jude rudely ordered me to park my car outside the gate, a situation which led to a scuffle and heated argument between me and the said security officer, as a result of this I subsequently held a meeting with my staff on the way forward concerning this same issue after which we agreed that we should channel the ongoing matter through the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the governor Mr David Iyofor. This we did and the cps after hearing the story promised to help contact the governor who happens to be his boss, but to my chagrin the chief press secretary rather stopped taking my calls up till this moment.

    Prior to this time I have not played any event for the commissioners and other cabinet members due to the fact that they thought they couldn't afford to pay my appearance fee because I was the governors favorite hence will be unaffordable to them; a predicament that I have also managed to live with, while my friends, family members, staff and fans have all concluded that I have betrayed them by going behind to collect huge sums of money for events at the Government House without giving them their own.

    I have also not charged the rivers state government my usual professional appearance fee on events. The present chief of staff to Rivers State Government Mr Tony Okocha and Senator Magnus Abe are my witnesses on this.
    meanwhile due to the multi-lingual nature of Rivers State as a result of different ethnicities, I decided to record a song which I titled PORT HARCOURT BOY where I mentioned the names of various prominent men who have made their mark at one point or the other; even people from other states who lived and conducted their businesses in Port Harcourt as a way of promoting and uniting the state.

Shortly afterwards the general public started saying that Governor Amaechi has been the one behind my career success claiming that he bought me all manner of flashy cars and pays me huge amount of money regularly, meanwhile since I finished the project for the governor he virtually declined paying me the outstanding balance as agreed upon our transaction.

    It is also a known fact that before amnesty was given DUNCAN MIGHTY was the first artiste in the entire Niger Delta to embrace the creeks all over the country, using my music to promote peace in the region, encouraging the youths to shun cultism, youth restiveness and other social vices.
    The entire entertainment industry within the Niger Delta region actually believed that I was constantly favored by the governor hence they all came to me in 2011 pleading with me to become the chapter president of performing musicians association of Nigeria (PMAN), a move I constantly rejected so that I can concentrate on my career.

All this while God has been my source of inspiration and survival; my pillar of strength and protection.

According to a new report on MailOnline yesterday,
a heartbreaking new video of the abducted Nigerian schoolgirls has been released and the video shows the missing schoolgirls bravely speaking out about their ordeal for the first time.

The footage, not released publicly but seen by The Mail on Sunday, was taken in a jungle clearing a month after their abduction.

In the video, eight girls, dressed in their home-made school uniforms of pale blue gingham, plead for release as they stand courageously in front of the camera. They are clearly scared, upset and trying to
be brave. Each of them walks in turn to a spot in front of a white sheet fixed to a crude frame between the trees.

Four of them can be heard clearly, in their Hausa language, stating that they were taken by force and that they are hungry.

A tall girl, aged about 18, says tearfully: 'My family will be so worried.'
Another, speaking softly, says: 'I never expected to suffer like this in my life.' A third says: 'They have taken us away by force.' The fourth girl complains: 'We are not getting enough food.'

MailOnline reports that the video, taken by an intermediary on May 19, has been shown to President Goodluck Jonathan. It was intended to serve as 'proof of life' for the girls and to encourage the President to accede to the terrorists' demands.

The girls in the video look healthy, but it is understood that fraught negotiations are under way to broker the release of several pupils who have fallen ill, including one with a broken wrist. Two earlier videos showed the girls seated on the ground, dressed in hijabs, reciting the Koran, and Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau declaring he would sell them into slavery, or marry them off to their kidnappers, if members of his sect were not released from prison.

Meanwhile, MailOnline is also exclusively reporting that an Australian man has revealed how he is desperately trying to free the 250 kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirls, who were taken on April 14 by Boko Haram terrorists.

The man, Dr Stephen Davis left his home in Perth to travel to Nigeria after being recruited by the country's president for his hostage negotiation expertise. And he has been working secretly in Nigeria for almost a month now. He was asked to come to Nigeria after previously brokering a truce between violent rebels and the government in the Niger Delta in 2004.

In an email from Nigeria, the Doctor revealed he has had 'ongoing contact' with the groups involved in the kidnapping in Nigeria's north for seven years.

'This is a long process of building trust on both sides. There are several groups to deal with as the girls are held in several camps. This makes any thought of a rescue highly improbable. To attempt to rescue one group would only endanger the others.'

Despite the difficulties of a rescue operation, Dr Davis remains hopeful that the schoolgirls will be freed.

'Every day there is the possibility of the release of the girls. This is painful for the parents and the nation. The well-being of the girls is constantly on our minds and we want to see their release as soon as possible.'

However, he warned:

'We must not endanger their lives any further. The vast majority of the Chibok girls are not being held in Nigeria. They are in camps across the Nigerian border in Cameroon, Chad and Niger. I say the "vast majority" as I know a small group was confirmed to me to be in Nigeria last week when we sought to have them released.'

He also described how fraught the negotiation process has been. Dr Davis continued:

One of that small group of girls is ill and we had hoped we might convince the commander of the group holding her that she should be released so we could give her medical treatment. There are other girls who are not well and we have come close to having them released but their captors fear a trap in which they will be captured in the handover process.

One girl has what I assume is a broken wrist as they demonstrate to me how she holds her hand. I have been told that others are sick and in need of medical attention.'

Davido is now a graduate!

Davido was one of the over 500 students who graduated at Babcock University, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State earlier today.

Davido's billionaire dad, Chief Adeleke was at the ceremony to witness the Skelewu singer's graduation.

At the graduation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of the university, J. A. Kayode Makinde, advised the graduands saying, "You are now in the half way. May your graduation from school be the beginning of a bright future for you. Best Wishes for a wonderful college years. You will make mistakes and be wounded sometimes in your life. Don't give in – it's just an experience. Wishing you to find your own star and reach for it."

Davido is yet to say a word on his graduation but he tweeted this a few hours ago: "Congrats too (sic) all the Babcock graduates today!"

Media entrepreneur, Mo Abudu, was recognised with an honorary doctorate degree.
