‘How Boko Haram planed to bomb Abuja with petrol tankers’ - SSS Reveals! Posted: 18 Jun 2014 10:56 AM PDT   The SSS today Wednesday 18th June, said the Boko Haram sect is planning to bomb Abuja with petrol tankers within the next few days. The Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mike Omeri, made this known at a briefing in Abuja alongside the Deputy Director of the DSS, Marilyn Ogar "The Nigerian Security services had received intelligence report to the effect that insurgents intends seizing petrol tankers and plant improvised devices in the tankers and drive them to crowded places in Abuja. "Against this backdrop, we hereby call on the Petrol Tankers Association to be on the red alert and advise their members to report any attempt or seizure of their vehicles to security agencies. "In this wise, Nigerians are also advised to report any broken down tanker in any part of the territory to security agencies. Sad! Popular Oyo state businessman, Aare Alao Arisekola Is dead! Posted: 18 Jun 2014 10:00 AM PDT   The Oyo State business man and Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land is dead. He passed on today in London. To read more about him, click below. Abdulazeez Arisekola Alao is a notable Nigerian businessman and contractor who was the publisher of the now defunct Monitor Newspaper. He is considered a wealthy businessman who is known for his causes in support of Islam in Ibadan and his close ties to many of the city's traditional and religious elites and to various other Yoruba Muslim leaders. He bears the title of Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland. Arisekola saw his fortunes rise during the regimes of Ibrahim Babangida and Sani Abacha while his style is sometimes criticized as favoring any regime that can butter his nest. He was both a friend of MKO Abiola and Sani Abacha but was actively involved in supporting the latter to elongate his tenure through a transition from military to democratic leadership. Born in 1945 to Abdul Raheem Alao and Olatutu Alao, he attended St Luke's Primary School, Adigun and ICC Primary school, he also studied Arabic Studies. In 1960, he was with the Ogunpa-Oyo Commercial Center before venturing into full time business a year later. His traditional commercial focus is in auto sales, flour mills and oil marketing through his Lister brand, he has also developed interest in real estate, insurance, banking and publishing. Originally, he came from humble means, joining his uncle as an apprentice in Gbagi market of Ibadan in 1960. He left in 1961 to sell gammalin 20 vide and later became an agent of Imperial Chemical Industries. By the 1970s, he was a dealer of Datsun brand of motors under Lister Motors. In the 1970s and 80s: Arisekola was serenaded by the Juju singer Ebenezer Obey around the late 1970s while later being conferred with the title of Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland by the league of Imams and Alfas from the region in 1980. Though, along with his friend, Abiola, he courted controversy and raised already existent inter-religious tension when he raised issues about the location an iconic cross to depict places of worship at the University of Ibadan. The cross which was erected in the 1950s when only a church was a place of worship at the institution but Muslim worshipers claimed that the cross was located on the Eastern side of the mosque and was a violation of Islamic requirements not to see an idol, cross or effigy during worship. In 1990, he was co-chair of a committee interested in promoting cross fertilization of ideas and inter-religious understanding between Christians and Muslims. During the democratic period of the Sani Abacha era, Arisekola, along with Lamidi Adedibu pitched his tent with the Democratic Party of Nigeria also known as DPN. However, his closeness with the Abacha administration has erred him detractors within Yorubaland. His Monitor Press outfit was burnt in May 1998 during the aftermath of the campaign for the prolongation of the Abacha government and right after the death of Abacha, a visit to University of Ibadan caused a minor riot when students shouted down at him and proceeded to burn his limousine as a result of anger fueled at him due to his relationship with the corrupt Abacha administration. Arisekola doubles as the president-general of the Grand Council for Islamic Affairs and member of the Board of Trustees of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, NSCIA. In Ibadan Arisekola has contributed to many Islamic causes including the construction of mosques and alms giving to many residents who troop to his home. He is a patron to many Yoruba Muslim groups including the youth wing of the National Council of Musim Youth Organizations of Nigeria (NACOMYO) and some Yoruba Muslim womens group. Aside from that, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Arisekola ALao is a man of honour both home and abroad. His a forthright leader and a father who loves people making it in life; if you understand is way of life. Hilarious! How a Police Officer Slumps in Anambra after being transferred to Borno! Posted: 18 Jun 2014 09:52 AM PDT   A Police officer reportedly slumped yesterday after following a directive by the Inspector General of Police, transferring him to Borno State. The officer, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to the Central Police Station, Nnewi in the Anambra State Police Command, had less than a year left to retire from the service was among the 149 officers affected by the postings to different parts of the country.  He was then rushed to a private hospital in Nnewi where he was revived. ThisDay reports 150 senior police officers within the ranks of ASP and Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) serving in the state were transferred. Some of the affected officers are alleging ethnic bias in the transfers, as most especially the Igbos who are protesting their transfer to the Boko Haram prone states. Some of the officers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that while only two officers were transferred to Abia State, 12 officers were transferred to Bauchi; six to Borno; seven to Adamawa; six to Jigawa; seven to Gombe; one to Imo, two to Akwa Ibom two; two to Cross-River; two to Enugu two; two to Edo; three to Delta; and five to Ekiti, among others. That's not really surprising. You've probably heard a similar story before: The Japanese have the highest life expectancy of any major country. Women on average live to 87 and men to 80 (compared to 81 years for American women and 76 for American men). The Japanese can live 75 of those years disability free and fully healthy, according to the World Health Organization. "The Japanese diet is the iPod of food," she jokes. "It concentrates the magnificent energy of food into a compact and pleasurable size." And then, of course, there's the fabled Okinawa diet — coming from an island that's markedly different, in both food and customs, from mainland Japan. Some physicians point to a trend of longevity thanks to a host of meals that carry a low long-term risk of stomach cancer or arteriosclerosis, like tofu, konbu seaweed, squid and octopus. FG drops N446.3bn stolen funds charges against Mohammed Abacha! Posted: 18 Jun 2014 07:28 AM PDT   The Federal Government today, Wednesday June 18th 2014 withdrew the corruption charges filed against Mohammed Abacha, son of former military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. Mohammed who played a major role during his late father's administration is believed to have helped the late dictator launder a lot of stolen funds. The FG had accused Mohammed Abacha of receiving stolen property worth N100.38 billion, many of it kept in foreign countries. 'Igbos Invest In Movies, Yorubas Have Better Story Lines'– Baba Wande Posted: 18 Jun 2014 07:03 AM PDT   Veteran Nollywood actor, Alhaji Kareem Adepoju, aka Baba Wande, has once again reiterated on the challenges going on in Nollywood, why you see some shallow movies with all the paraphernalia needed and a beautiful story line recorded with poor cameras et al, with an overall shsbby output. He praised the English sector, which is mainly dominated by the Igbos, for the kind of investment doled out for their movie productions. According to the actor, the challenges in the movie industry is lack of adequate investment. Stressing that an Igbo person will be ready to invest large amount of money into a movie production, while the Yoruba person, will invest little with high expectation. The actor was quick to defend the Yoruba movie industry by stating that though investment might be high in the English aspect of the industry, but in terms of quality story line, the Yoruba movie is better off. Kareem who has featured in many films including Mainframe's Saworo Ide, Agogo Ewo, Akobi Gomina, Arugba and T'Oluwa Ni'le (which he wrote), among others, further pointed out that the Nollywood industry has great talented acts, but it is faced with challenges of good financing and better marketing. How 60-year old Nigerian woman gives birth through IVF (Photo) Posted: 18 Jun 2014 05:30 AM PDT     60 year old Mrs Omolara Irurhe who had been looking of a child for over 30 years reportedly gave birth to a baby girl this past Monday June 16th through the Invitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment at a Specialist Hospital in Lagos. The Nation reports that Mrs Irurhe, who has been married for 31 years, started the IVF treatment in 2010 and said her faith in God and her believe in modern medicine helped her go through the process, after many years of childlessness in marriage. She said her husband, Mr Adekunle Irurhe's Catholic belief of one man one wife made him not to marry another woman and stood by her through all the years. "I believe we should not limit God and what the doctors can do in this modern age. I believe this is the appointed time. I was very hopeful throughout the years I was childless and I remained focused on God. We went to many hospitals but we didn't give up," she said An elated Mr Adekunle Irurhe said though there were pressures to get another wife, he was determined to stay with his wife alone as that was the practice of his own parents. He said his wife's belief in the In vitro fertilization method made him support her. "I supported her throughout because my wife was dogged and she believed in herself. When I saw her faith, I had no choice but to go with her. She kept telling me she would have her child. I wasn't thinking of another wife. I came from a monogamous family and I decided she is all I will have. The family was understanding too and we fought together to get this baby". Kefee's corpse arrives Nigeria + Burial arrangement! [Photo] Posted: 18 Jun 2014 04:54 AM PDT   The remains of late singer, Kefee, has arrived in Nigeria, ahead of a burial which will hold this month. The body which was flown into the country Yesterday, June 17, 2014, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos at 4PM via a Delta Airline aircraft. The body was received by few family members. It is not confirmed if Teddy Don-Momoh, husband of the late singer arrived with the body. Teddy was by with his late wife in the US before she passed away. Kefee died on Friday, June 13 2014, after being in a coma for 15 days. OAU Muslim Students Pray On the Highway to protest increase in their school fees!
