Nuns Sue To Shut Down Strip Club, Say It's Too Close to Their Convent

A group of nuns is suing to shut down a strip club next to their convent in Stone Park that the sisters say keeps them awake at night.

The Missionary Sisters of St. Charles Borromeo Scalabrinians say in the suit that Club Allure has ruined their peace with blinking neon lights and loud thumping music. The nuns say they have witnessed drunken fights and found condoms littering the area.

The suit, filed against the club and the village of Stone Park, states that the club violates a state law against operating adult entertainment within 1,000 feet of a school or place of worship. The club is also near houses, and three neighbors have joined the suit.



"I think most people would find that offensive, to put a strip club next to a home for sisters," said Peter Breen, attorney for the Thomas More Society, a nonprofit law firm that filed the suit on behalf of the nuns.

The suit was filed Friday in Cook County Circuit Court. The club opened last fall, but attorneys said the nuns were not properly notified.

Dean Krone, an attorney for the village of Stone Park, said the state law is unconstitutional because it is overly broad by prohibiting such uses within 1 mile of houses of worship.

That would eliminate any site in the tiny village from hosting a strip club, but under the First Amendment guaranteeing freedom of expression, Krone said, the courts have generally ruled that municipalities may not put blanket bans on strip clubs.

The fight over the club has been raging for years. Village Board members initially denied a strip club proposed by the same ownership in 2009, Krone said, but when the owners sued, the village settled the suit by allowing the club.

Former Convict Saves a Baby That Almost Crawled Into a Busy Highway

Bryant Collins was driving on a Georgia highway when he caught a glimpse of something crawling on the grass, next to the busy highway that looked like a baby. Bryant Collins pulled over, carried the baby and then called 911.

Turns out the small child had crawled out of her home about 300 yards away. She went through the woods, down a small embankment — and might have continued into the highway were it not for Collins.

Emergency crews arrived and police arrested the child's father, Timothy Pickens, and will likely arrest the child's mother as well.

Thankfully, the child was not hurt, according to Madison County sheriff Kip Thomas.

"Everything was pretty much superficial that we saw," Thomas said, "Honestly that's almost a miracle: that a 15-month-old can go that far from her house, into the woods, fall down an embankment, wind up near a major highway, and really not get hurt that bad."

And Bryant Collins? He stayed with the baby for two hours.

"The baby started crying," Collins said, "so I turned my phone on and let her listen to some gospel music, and she calmed right down."

On this day he is a hero. But Collins could never have saved the life of this baby if he had not, long ago, saved his own.

"I did ten years in the federal institution for manufacturing cocaine," he said. "When I was in prison, I made a very conscientious effort to change, and I did."

Collins has been free and clean for five years. And it was in his new job, as an auto repairman, that he found himself on the side of the road, a baby's life literally in his hands.

Removing pubic hair seems like an ordeal to most women as they often end up getting nicks and painful ingrown hair. A smooth and well-shaven pubic area provides a feeling of freedom to women and helps them enjoy more intimacy with their partner.

However, shaving pubic hair is tougher than shaving legs or underarms owing to the sensitivity of the pubic region. Women need to shave their pubic hair patiently and carefully to avoid getting nicks and ingrown hair.

Given below is a step-by-step guide that will ensure your shaving process is easy and nick-free.

Step 1: Pick the right shaving cream 

Pubic region is one of the most sensitive parts of the body hence you should be very careful while choosing the shaving cream. Soaps do not form sufficient lather and foams or creams used by men for shaving may not provide sufficient lubrication and protection for your sensitive private parts. Use shaving creams or gels that contain moisturising agents such as aloe vera or vitamin E.

Step 2: Choose a proper razor 

It is extremely important to choose an appropriate razor for shaving pubic hair. A cheap disposable razor with a single blade is likely to cause you cuts or nicks on your most sensitive parts and may hurt you immensely. It is recommended that you use multi-bladed razor with a moisturizing strip on its head to give you a smooth, close shave.

Step 3: Trim long hair 

To make shaving easier, a good idea would be to trim down pubic hair longer than a quarter of an inch with scissors. Cutting it as short as possible means you will have to deal with less hair while shaving. This will make the shaving process less painful and less messy.

Step 4: Take a warm shower or bath

Always remove pubic hair after a warm shower or after soaking yourself in a hot tub for a few minutes. Don't go over the same area too many times to avoid getting a cut. Remember to rinse the blade after every couple of strokes. A clogged razor will not work well. After shaving, rinse pubic area and pat dry with towel. Use cool water to rinse, as it will help to close the pores and follicles, reducing the chance of irritation.

Step 9: Moisturise 

Moisturise the freshly shaven pubic area using baby oil, vitamin E or aloe vera. This will help to soothe your skin after the shave and reduce the chance of pimples or razor burn. It is best to avoid moisturizers that contain fragrances and colours, as they may cause irritation.

• Some women suffer from increased genital sensitivity during menstruation. They must avoid shaving during this period

• You may consider using a small mirror to see well if you are taking off most of your pubic hair
• Moisturise and powder the area daily to avoid irritation

• Try to wear cotton underwear and to stay away from tight fitting pants. The lack of air circulation and friction of tight cloths may lead to in-grown hairs

Dorobucci is the title of the latest single from the Mavin label led by Don Jazzy and also had Tiwa Savage and Dr. Sid on the track. While I didn't think it was a particulary enjoyable song, it went viral due to Don Jazzy's able marketing abilities. Now, some people are saying it is an occultic song?

I'm not sure whether they are serious or joking, and we are supposed to be laughing. However, some people actually believe it's true and Don Jazzy has had to defend himself and the song title as follows;

The Fastest Shedder is a TV reality show for weight loss modelled on the US Biggest Loser, and has been on for three months now. Last weekend, they had the finale, and the winner lost a total of 27kg. She won N1Million for her efforts.

While some are saying the weight lost by the women is not sufficient, or not encouraging, I think the show has shown a positive and realistic journey to weight loss for these women. I have been battling to lose 10kg for the past few years so I know where they are coming from.

They must have worked really hard to get their new bodies. I only hope they keep the motivation going till they get further down to more healthy weight.

Professional sugar baby Carla Abonia, 37, has been flown across the world and had wildly lavish gifts bought for her by rich men who can't resist her company.

But she admits the relationships aren't always straight forward, so has joined forces with her mentor, sugar daddy Alan Schneider, to form their Sugar Daddy University in New York. The pair teach five key elements of being a successful sugar daddy or sugar baby through the curriculum - Sexuality, Understanding, Generosity, Attraction and Reciprocity.

They even have plastic surgeons - as well as relationship and financial experts - on hand to advise women how to look better as they or their sugar daddy invest in their appearance.


Carla turned to the sugar baby lifestyle after getting fed up with cheap blokes - one in particular would bring a KFC bucket to her house for dinner and leave her the leftovers.

She said: "He'd want to give me a kiss and would leave crumbs all over my mouth. As soon as I got rid of him I went straight on the internet and started researching.

"I think a lot of women can relate to each other in that way. We want to be treated well and that is where the sugar way of life comes from.

"Our experiences are what created the university - relationships can be better so we're here to make them better.

Marriage Sabbatical - Could Taking Time Away From Your Marriage Make It Stronger?

Marriage sabbatical is a term coined by author Cheryl Jarvis, who wrote a book about women taking time out from their marriages to do something for themselves, something they felt being married was stopping them from doing.

The idea of pulling apart in a relationship that is meant to be all about togetherness may seem illogical, but increasing number of couples are embracing the idea of one of them, especially the wife, taking a 'sabbatical' from their marriage in order to make it stronger.

A marriage sabbatical is different from a trial separation and the couple are not discussing divorce in any way. There is also no room for relationships or sex with other people while the wife or husband is taking the sabbatical.

The debate surrounding 'marriage sabbaticals' was sparked recently when actress Emma Thompson revealed that she believes every married couple would benefit from such a break. And it got me thinking.

Marriage can be difficult, and it is hardest on women and their dreams and personal life goals which often get subsumed in her husband's and that of her children. Some women don't mind this but embrace it, for those who do, a marriage sabbatical to pursue those dreams for a while may be the answer to refreshing her and making her a stronger person, more comfortable in her skin, and happier to be with her family.

Do you know what this reminds me of? It reminds me of the couple of married women I had in my masters degree class. Both of them came to the UK, leaving their husbands behind in their home countries, one left him with their three children, the other left him with one child.

I also know of a married friend who recently took a sabbatical to go get her PhD in another country, she took their child along. They tried to visit each other at least once a year, and are back together now with her degree in the bag within three years and a better job for her. The PHd would have taken her upwards of six years if she had done it from home, and without it, her job would have gone downhill. She is happier with her degree and her job now, and their marriage is stronger for it.

Cheryl interviewed fifty-five women who had taken sabbaticals, and she took 3 month trip away from her own family to join a writing retreat and finish a novel she had been working on. In "The Marriage Sabbatical" Jarvis explores what some might consider a radical question: What happens when married women take some time and space away?

The Answer: Good things! Especially when the sabbatical is designed to be what Jarvis describes as, "personal time-out from daily routines for creative, professional or spiritual growth, reflection or renewal."

If that concept sounds familiar, it's because the marriage sabbatical is based on a similar, historically successful idea. In academia, professors take sabbaticals from their university work to travel, write, explore, and come back energized and renewed. A marriage sabbatical can be viewed in the same light. In other words, it's not meant to be an escape from a failing relationship or a desperate retracement of singlehood. Rather, a sabbatical is driven by a sense of meaning and purpose.

When a woman returns to her nest she expects to be better for having flown away for awhile—more freshly acquainted with her own voice, more conscious of her gifts, and less likely to see home commitments as obstacles limiting her creative or intellectual expression.

What about the families of women who take sabbaticals? The same break that's renewing to her can be refreshing for her family, too. While she's gone, her partner and children have time to connect differently, to create new relational configurations, and discover their own strengths and power.

However, psychologist Jo Hemmings has reservations about the trend. She says if one party in the marriage is unhappy with themselves and feels marriage is constraining them, taking time away may be the wrong move.

'A sabbatical is not addressing the issues, you need to find out the root problems within the relationship, a period of time totally separate is just adding more questions. It is a bit of a last resort and it's a bit risky. If one partner loves being apart and doesn't want to come back then you are in trouble.'
