His Bentley is his prized possession, so he's burying it, inspired by the Egyptian Pharaohs, in the hope of having it in his afterlife

He has all the riches he could ever dream for in this life. But to avoid any risk of missing out in the afterlife, wealthy entrepreneur 'Count Scarpa' is burying his greatest treasure - his new £310,000 Bentley convertible.

In a bizarre announcement on his Facebook page the 62-year-old declared that he plans to do as the Pharaohs of Egypt did and take his riches with him when he dies by burying them.

So tomorrow, he will entomb his brand new Bentley Continental worth over £310,000 to make sure he has a comfortable journey into the 'other side'. The funeral ceremony, he promises, will be at 11am.

In a photo on his social network site Count Scarpa stands beside his black Flying Spur, the latest model on the market, with a cockatoo on his arm and writes: 'I decided to do as the Pharaohs: this week I will bury my favourite car, the Bentley here in the home garden! Bury my treasure in my palace rssss !!!'

He says he's digging the grave in the back garden of his mansion in Jardins, one of the wealthiest neighbourhoods in Sao Paulo.

On Tuesday, in another photo, sporting a pink tie, with his foot on a shovel, he stands in front of a deep hole with his shining Bentley parked behind him and warns: 'For those who doubt me, yesterday I already started making the hole in the garden to bury my Bentley! By the end of the week I will bury it'

The self-made businessman, who has a degree in economics and is a black belt instructor and owner of the Institute Maruyama Aikido, a Japanese martial arts academy, explains that his decision to start storing up his treasures for the life beyond came after watching a programme on Ancient Egypt on Sunday.

'I was watching a documentary about the pharaohs of Egypt, very interesting. They buried his entire fortune to have a comfortable life "the other side"!' he says.

Will he bury his parrot? After watching a documentary on Egypt on Sunday, he says he is completely serious and is going ahead with his car's funeral tomorrow. There was no mention of whether he wants his pet bird in the afterlife too

By Tuesday his decision to bury his Bentley had received over 5680 likes and more than 6000 shares.

On Wednesday, a new photo appeared updating his plans and shows just how serious he is. He's pictured operating an excavator, in a cream coloured suit and lime green tie. It looks like he's spent quite a few hours digging the grave. In front of him is very deep hole with a huge pile of dirt beside it.

On the same day he reveals that he's appearing on a satirical talk show on Bandeirantes television, hosted by Danilo Gentili – photographed with him, to talk about the funeral of his beloved Bentley.

In the TV interview he explains to viewers that he was travelling back from his farm after celebrating his birthday on Sunday and started thinking about how the pharaohs were buried with the most precious items in their life.

"I watched the film of the pharaohs and after seeing how they were buried with their treasures I decided that I wanted to copy them and bury my most precious item, which is my car," he says.

In between his explanation, viewers tweet their comments. One says wryly: 'Chiquinho, is it true you want to bury your imported car because you don't want to pay your taxes?'

'No,' he answers straight-faced. 'I've already shown all my documents to the authorities before doing the funeral.'

Another asks if he wants to adopt a family from Brasilia. He says he's currently single and doesn't want a family. A lot of the comments are however, very critical and accuse him of wasting money. Instead of burying his car he should donate the proceeds to help Brazilian people. 'Maria Lucia' sends a message begging Scarpa to send the car to her as she needs the cash.

Scarpa has had a brush with death a few times, having been in a coma with a superbug, so he's hyper-alert to preparing for what comes after life

Others are sarcastic: 'This is nothing new. Chiquinho may be burying his car but the Brazilian government has buried the Brazilian people,' says one referring to corruption and the wealth of the nation being 'buried' in the pockets of bent politicians.

Scarpa says he is not one of these corrupt individuals and has paid all his taxes, never been in debt or been bankrupt.

'Alex' on the other hand agrees with the crazy decision and tweets: 'I think you should do what you want to do, because it shows that you cannot take anything with you from this life and you might as well enjoy the idea of doing so. However, if you would like to help me with the social project I'm running, I would be very grateful.'

Scarpa is not new to the idea of facing death. In 2009 he was in a coma for over two months after a superbug nearly killed him following a stomach reduction operation. He 'died' twice during the ordeal and was given the last rites on both occasions by a priest.

In an interview with celebrity magazine, Caras, in January this year he said: 'When I had the surgery, I got a very strong bacteria that killed several people.

'I was in a coma for 63 days; the doctor told me he had 'opened' me eight times. I came close to death twice. The priest gave me two anointings. This was all because of bacteria. I took it and got away with it. Unfortunately this was not the case with my mother. She had an operation on her femur, got the bacterium and died in February 2012. I am strong,' he adds.

Scarpa lives in one of the most expensive areas in Sao Paulo in a property spanning more than 14000m2. He inherited his title from his Italian-born father Count Francisco Scarpa who was given the honour by Pope Pius XII in 1949, for his charitable contributions to society.

The eccentric businessman benefitted from his father's wealth and made his fortune from the brewery and mining industry. He now runs an investment company and has been married twice. His first wife died and he is divorced from the second.

He has even met Chelsea Football Club owner, Russian businessman, Roman Abramovich who invited him to visit his yacht in Capri, Italy, for dinner two years ago.

With no children to carry on the family name Scarpa says his cockatoo, which is perched on his arm in the facebook picture showing him standing beside his Bentley, is his offspring.

'This here is my "daughter",' he said in the interview with Caras. 'She is called Filomena Leopoldina Sofia Scarpa. She is six-months-old and is endangered,' he said.

The white cockatoo – which even has her own business card - is one of the most expensive birds in the world costing around £14,000.

The Pharaohs were known for burying their beloved pets with them so they could enjoy their company in the afterlife. So far Scarpa hasn't said whether he plans to do the same with Filomena.

Nigeria is one of the country that have high rate of frequent travellers in the world and so its important to know some secrets that Flight attendants would never divulge if you are not in the know

1. They'll intentionally delay flights

If a flight is delayed, the crew often gets paid overtime. But this only kicks in after a certain amount of delay, so sometimes the crew (after the doors have closed and they are in fact on the clock) will delay take off intentionally.

2. Nice clothes can get you to first class

You actually can be upgraded for free to business or first class once the cabin doors have
been closed. But here's a secret: the crew isn't going to put a slob in stained sweatpants up there, so dressing nice could be your ticket to first class service at economy prices.

3. They throw out the extra wine

The plane isn't allowed to have opened, unfinished bottles of wine when they land, so they pour out all extra wine. If you mention you know this, it could be hard for your attendant to deny you a couple extra free glasses.

4. They're the law

They may look unassuming in their pencil skirts and cardigans, but it's against the law to disobey crew members' commands. Simply refusing to put your seat up when it's time could mean a meeting with police when the plane lands.

5. They delay dinner on purpose

If you're asleep, your flight attendant is supposed to leave you alone and that means less work. For this reason, the crew will often delay dinner as long as possible on night flights, so that half the plane is asleep and they don't have to serve that half.

6. You can have first class's leftovers

After everyone in first class has been served their meal, a flight attendant could technically give you one of those sought-after leftover meals. It's worth asking.

7. They're not on the clock until the doors are closed

If the crew doesn't seem to care about you until the doors are closed, that's because they're not being paid to. They don't make a dollar until those doors are shut which is also why they rush you to put your bags away and sit down

8. You only think you know turbulence

Flight attendants laugh when they hear passengers swap stories of "the worst turbulence ever" and "dangerously bumpy flights." Out of the over 2 million people who fly yearly, there have only been three fatalities due to turbulence in over 30 years, and two of those individuals were not wearing their seatbelts.

9. Joining the mile high club is not illegal

That's right! If you can get away with it, you didn't do anything wrong. That being said, flight attendants almost always know when this is happening, and will ask you to exit the lavatory.

10. They're sneaking you decaf coffee

Why would they give you regular if that just means you'll be awake for hours, wanting snacks, wanting drinks, and asking pointless questions?

There is no doubt that Asaba, the Delta State capital has become a home for movie productions in Nigeria. It still baffles many why producers have decided to pitch their tent in Asaba.

Investigations by Gists from Edo/Delta have revealed that production is cheaper in Asaba and that is why producers are thronging there to make their movies, but the height of immoralities being practised in Asaba is really giving the people there cause.

The latest is that a top Nollywood Director's wife fought an A-List actress on a movie set in the capital town for sharing her hubby with her.

The director is Lagos based but was contracted to do the movie in Asaba. He is a top shot in Nollywood and hails from one of the South-Eastern states. Gists from Edo/Delta learnt that this notable film director, was having a fling with the actress who was playing the lead role in the movie.

This actress is fair complexioned also from South East. Sources said the duo were staying in the same hotel in the heart of Asaba.

It was gathered that the director had been dating the actress for a while now and his wife was suspicious of it. It was learnt that one of the crew members, who is a close friend of the director's wife leaked the romance between the actress and the director to the director's wife.

Luck ran out on the actress as she was caught red handed on the bed of the director by his wife. The director's wife was said to have dragged the actress out of the room after beating her to a pulp and tore her clothes with her upper region jumping out.

Dewakei

The State Security Service has arrested a father of 10, Saturday Dewakei, who allegedly kidnapped Abubakar Adamu, the five-year-old son of his neighbour and killed him when his demand for a N5m ransom was not met.

Dewakei, 43, was said to have entered his neighbour's room at Aso 'C' Gbagalape, Mararaba area of Abuja through the ceiling on April 19, 2013 and abducted Adamu while he was asleep.

The SSS tendered the remains of the victim on Wednesday, which were mainly bones, including his ribs, femur, dental cavity and a locally-made pistol that was recovered from the suspect.

Parading the suspect in Abuja on Wednesday, the SSS Deputy Director, Operations, FCT Command, Ibrahim Halilu, explained that Dewakei killed the boy in an uncompleted building and dumped his body in a water-filled soakaway when the ransom he demanded was not paid.

He stated that the victim's father, identified as Isah, paid Dewakei N100,000, adding that the suspect murdered Adamu because he was dissatisfied with the amount.

Halilu stated that Dewakei was apprehended by operatives when he accepted the offer of additional N300,000 after he had killed his victim.

"Investigation revealed that Dewakei killed the child and dumped the body in a soakaway when the ransom was not paid. He has taken operatives of this service to the scene of crime where the remains of the kidnapped boy were recovered,"Halilu said.

Dewakei, who appealed to Isah for forgiveness, said he kidnapped the boy.

He said, "I did not kill him. The victim was running away and he fell into the soakaway.

"I brought him out, but he had died because his hands were tied. The boy died in my arms; the parents should please forgive me. I only kidnapped him to make small money."

Ogbaide

There was anxiety at the Ketu Bus Rapid Transit depot in Lagos State after a man brought two big snakes to the office of the depot chairman, Chief Sunday Yusuf.

We learnt that the man, Sunday Ogbaide, who was later arrested by the Ketu Police Division, said he was sent by a yet-to-be identified person to sell the snakes to the BRT boss.

Yusuf told PUNCH Metro that no one could explain how the suspect gained entrance into the depot.

He said, "I was in my office when the man presented two snakes to me. When I asked him what his mission was, he said he was sent by someone who told him that I would be interested in buying snakes.

"When I asked him to tell me the name of the person that sent him, he said he did not know the name of the person.

"I quickly raised the alarm and the security guards arrived. The man passed through three main gates before arriving at my office. No one could explain to me how he got in."

It was learnt that in the ensuing pandemonium, people attempted to beat up the suspect for bringing the snakes.

We learnt that the BRT boss was able to restore calm after which he called the Divisional Police Officer, Ketu, SP Justin Umar.

It was learnt that Umar sent some policemen to the scene to apprehend the suspects and kill the snakes.

Yusuf, who was thankful that the snakes did not kill anybody on the premises, described the incident as the handiwork of his detractors.

On getting to the station however, the suspect said he was a truck pusher at Ketu Market.

He said he got the snakes from Ibadan, Oyo State, and thought he could make a lot of money by selling the snakes to the BRT boss.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the suspect would be charged to court on Thursday (today).

Braide said, "Around 4:10pm, the BRT chairman of Ketu Depot made a distress call to the DPO who then sent his men there. The suspect was arrested with two big vipers. He will be charged with attempting to induce fear and wilfully endangering human life with dangerous animals."

The actress turned activist took to her blog to air her mind about people who waste their lives hating or examining their lives while theirs is wasting away.She says she is not bothered because she was born to be talked about..

Sometimes I sit down and try to take stock of my life and it's numerous stages. It amazes me to see how far I have come even in the midst of the storm. God is indeed faithful to those who love and serve him.
Growing up was a bit funny for me outside the walls of my home. I grew up in a wonderfully balanced family with a lot of love and care from both my parents who were bankers, my older sisters who taught me so much and even my late kid brother even though his time was short. For some reason I thought there was something wrong with me and I will tell you why.

I realized that, in school my name always came up whether or not I was a part of the issue. People just loved to talk about me, most of the time it was more negative than positive. Even if I was not guilty of whatever they accused me of, they would still go on and on. This was such a huge problem to me as a young girl, to the point that I was not able to enjoy boarding school. I thought the world hated me and i did not fit in, and that was when I heard that people called me an "OSU", which means OUTCAST, just because of my surname. That actually made me laugh at the end of the day seeing that most people did not even know the origin or history of my name.

After so many years of being paranoid about what people were saying about me, I finally opened up to my parents. My mother laughed so hard that I wondered if she heard a word of what I said. That was when my father (God rest his soul) looked at me and said "have you taken a good look at yourself in the mirror? Have you not noticed how beautiful you are, or are you saying you do not know you are intelligent"?
At that point I just felt it was a normal encouragement line that a parent would give his child to make them feel better, but I soon realized it was far from it. Then he said "can't you see that you are different because you are special? Do you need anyone to tell you how blessed you are?

My mother called me and said "there are three types of people in this world
A: those who were born to be talked about because of who they are
B: those who were born to talk about others because that is all they are
C: those who were born to observe because they don't know who they are

Which one would you rather be my dear?"
I smiled because I knew that I was a TYPE A.

This is how I see it; God the creator sets a mini clock on every human being, he opens his big shopping mall which is the earth. Then he gives us all a shopping list to go into the shopping mall and buy everything on our list. He also sets the clock to a time which he knows should be enough for us to finish our shopping. Bear in mind that everybody has a different list, and from the moment he hands you the money (talent, skills, health, wisdom, brain, etc) and your list, your own clock starts to count.

So imagine that we have all come to this shopping mall, you see Stella walking in and out of shops buying the things on her list. Then you stop and start to laugh at her ugly shoes, you call your friends and start to talk about the old fashioned chair she bought. Stella walks past you again and you start to laugh at her cheap weavon and the fact that there is too much blue in her eye shadow. In all of this you are so caught up in your psycho analysis and gossip about Stella, that you forget that your clock is still ticking away. Meanwhile the person you are talking about is trying her possible best to buy everything on her shopping list, and make it back home early before she runs out of time.

This is what will happen; Stella will finish buying the items in her list, and go home right on time. On the flip side, you who have wasted more than half your own time following someone around, so eventually, you will not be able to finish buying the things on your list before the shop closes and your time is up. A lot of people have filled up the graves with DEAD DREAMS and VISIONS. They spend the life Span and energy God has given them for their own purpose on others and waste time minding other people's business.
It is so sad and painful but most importantly it does not make sense to me especially for adults.
Some people say it is as a result of joblessness but I disagree. I insist that if you have time to talk about others, then you should have time to try and discover yourself, spend time knowing who you are.
What is your purpose on earth?
What are you supposed to be doing at this point in your life?
Are you Satisfied with where you are right now?
Are you doing what you have always wanted to do?
Are you adding value to people around you?
Are you ready to take your situation to the next level?
What do you want to be remembered for?
What are your ambitions?
Have you accomplished up to half the things you set for yourself?

Trust me if you spend your time trying to answer all these questions and work on them, you will find that you won't have time for idle talk, you Will also realize that you don't have enough hours in a day to do the things you really want to do especially the things that you love.

I know who I am and I have no apologies for it. So I hope you will make it out of the shopping mall at the right time with your items complete.

A few weeks after Peter Okoye proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Lola Omotayo, his twin brother has followed suit. A few hours after he returned from his US/Canada tour, (they returned just this morning) Paul Okoye proposed to his longtime girlfriend and baby mama, Anita Atokwu-Isama.
