Villagers Say, They Found ‘Alien Corpse’

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 12:59 PM PDT

Villagers who thought they had found a dead ALIEN were disappointed when an expert said it was really a mummified baboon.

This mysterious creature caused an internet storm after it was discovered near Nature's Valley, South Africa.
Residents hailed the corpse — with spindly grey limbs, shrivelled head and oversized gnashers — as proof extraterrestrials had lived on earth.

Others claimed it was a weird cross-breed between a seal and a monkey.

But now a local veterinary surgeon says she has solved the riddle following an autopsy.

Dr Magdalena Braum said: "It was a newborn female baboon, with umbilical cord still attached to her body.

"It was most likely killed by the bite through her scull soon after birth, possibly infanticide, which is very common in some primate species when a new male takes over the troop."

“I Don't Owe You Anything”- 2FACE Replies Blackface

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 12:58 PM PDT

Going by recent indications, members of the defunct music group, Plantashun Boiz, 2Face Idibia and Blackface might have a few issues to sort out with each other. The 'bone-of-contention' is nothing new, Blackface is still upset over not being given his due on 2Face's breakaway hit song, "African Queen."
Blackface insists that he also has a share in the glory and therefore is entitled to whatever revenue 2Face earns from the song.

The 2Face Idibia camp has reacted to the claim by saying "2Face doesn't owe Blackface anything"
According to a rep for the singer, "African Queen" was produced under the Kennis Music imprint, and as such 2Face cannot personally be held responsible for paying his former group member.

The strain in the relationship between these two became more obvious after 2Face & Annie's fairytale wedding in Dubai, which Blackface wasn't invited to.

Why I changed my name from ‘Niggá Ráw’ to ‘Mr Raw’

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 08:08 AM PDT

The song "Obodo" is still as evergreen as ever but the singer of the song, Ukeje Okechukwu Edward, a.k.a Mr Raw, formerly known as 'Niggá Ráw' , disappeared from the music scene and only recently reappeared with a new album featuring 2Face Idibia. In this chat with Weekend Groove, role model of upcoming Hip Hop acts in Eastern Nigeria speaks on his absence, his music and why he changed his name from 'Niggá Ráw' to 'Mr. Raw'.

So what's new about Mr Raw?
A lot of things are new about me because presently I am still recording songs and doing other businesses. And there are a lot of artistes I  am actually trying to help push their songs  under my label 'Raw Deal Entertainment'. Presently, I have a new fifteen-track album titled '' The Greatest " featuring 2Face Idibia and some other acts. And I can say the album is doing credibly well and two videos from the album titled ''Asanwa"  and ''Forget  Swagga '' are already on air.

Tell us about your Record label?
My Record Label is called Raw Deal Entertainment. I started the Label in 2005  and presently I have  three artistes who are  signed onto  the outfit. There's nothing much about it.

Why did you decide to  own a Record Label ?
It all started when I first released my first album" Right and Wrong" that was the album that contains ''Obodo'',  it made a big hit. After that album I decided to own my own Record Label since everything  put into the production of the album was done solely by me.

Should we say the Record Label is actually taking your time  enough to make you go off the scene for a while?

The Record Label has nothing to do with that, the thing is that I actually got myself involved  in many other businesses  within and outside the country. I am still very much around, doing my  thing but the only difference now is that I don't do just music alone anymore. I have other interests

Can we know those  other things you have got yourself involved  in?
What I mean is that I  am into importation of goods within and outside Nigeria and I am  also into properties  like  an investmentor. Let's just say it's a kind of retirement plan  that could come handy when I finally bow out from music. It's my back-up plan.

Now that you are married, how are you enjoying  marital life?
I thank God I am doing great but another thing is that I like keeping my family life  private. Though I have heard a lot of  people saying that it's because I got married that's why I've been off  the music scene, it's not true. I just have to get something else to do  other than music. Though at first it was only music  but now it's no longer music alone, I am now doing other things as well.

As a married man, how do you treat your female fans?
*NiggaLet me be sincere and blunt with you;  a  female  fan actually pushes more of our job  than a male  fan. Guys will always like to have fun and drink but if a female is passionate about your music she can go to any level to promote it  even by making the guys love it. So one has to treat the female fans right because they are always there to groove and dance but men are  just there too preoccupied with other things.

Also,  when it comes to comedy shows, it's the lady that pushes the man to take her out. So, for me I treat them like  sisters, friends, fans and supporters. My marriage has nothing to do with the way I treat my female  fans  though some people do have wrong impression when you treat a lady too nicely. The fact that  I am  married doesn't stop me from being close to my female fans.

Any  special relaxation spot?
Actually, I don't have any special way I relax but you will find me at any spot that has a nice pool table because I love playing snooker. I am not a clubbing person. I don't go out much and I think this has been one of my biggest challenges in the industry.

How did you develop your passion for music?
I picked interest in music when I was still in the secondary school. I started by listening to a lot of rap songs  and by miming them I started getting into the rhythm. It was easy back then because many of my friends were into it too. Then,  it was basically some foreign artistes like Big Daddy Kane (my favourite), Rakim, Fresh Prince,Naughty By Nature, Heavy D etc.

Why do you usually rap in Igbo language?
Because I feel comfortable doing it and I got a lot of encouragement from the fans who have come to show they love it. So it's just a decision I made and I  am  glad I did. Sometimes, people get surprised when I speak in English because most of them thought it's because I didn't go to school that's why I rap in Igbo.  Moreover, rapping in Igbo is my unique selling point too.

How exactly did you meet Klint the Drunk beforeoreeaturing him  in your song ''Obodo ''?
Actually we were friends  back  in Enugu, we used to perform  in schools. He would be the  MC while I sing and sometimes he cracked jokes and our other friends like Mc Lopgh, Smatter Man, Ernest Asuzu, the actor, also rapped too. I and 'Klint the Drunk' have been  long time friends and I still wish to do something with him very soon. Why I featured him in my song is because  everything about him is music, for example, if you listen to his comedy, what he does most  is singing out the jokes.

What made you so popular?
I think it's my 'Igbotic' rap. Like when I did the Obodo song people really accepted it, that was in 2005 but I wrote the song in late 90. And another thing that announced me was the Benson and Hedges 'Grab the Mick' music competition in 2002. People really accepted me when I was rapping in Igbo. I came first then in Enugu and it was even I and Klint that did the competition together.

He was singing while I rapped. And finally at the grand finale I won, that was in Abuja. I can never forget that year.  That same year, I  still went for Star Quest competition. Initially, they didn't want me to enter for the competition because I just won Benson and Hedges competition. I came second while Kcee emerged winner and  I am happy he's doing great now.

What is the story behind your change of name from Niggá Ráw to Mr. Raw?
Yeah ,the change of name actually came about because on-air personalities could not say my name without driving another connotation to it. It was affecting information about me. Some foreign stations like MTV Base couldn't play my music until I removed the word 'Nigga' from my name. I had to do it. But what actually gave me the push to change my name to Mr. Raw was when many people complained that they weren't able to buy my songs online.

I had to search for my name online and I didn't see it in one of the popular websites. But  when I searched for one of my songs it popped up. I saw that they censored 'Niggá' and replaced it with five stars. So if you search for Niggá Ráw  you wouldn't find it unless you searched for one of my songs. Nigerians outside the country buy songs online before they get the hard copy.

So I had to change the name. Then again, if you are going to foreign embassies to get a visa, the promoter is usually scared of telling them at the embassy that a 'nigga' wants to go to their country.

But really, the 'Nigga' in my name wasn't like the American Nigger. Mine is actually an acronym NIGA which means Nigerian Guy Anakpo Raw (Nigerian Guy who is called Raw). But how many people would you be explaining this to?

Nigeria Rated 8th Most Corrupt Nation

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 07:25 AM PDT

Anti-corruption nonprofit Transparency International, TI, has released its 2013 Global Corruption Barometer, which surveyed residents in 107 countries, ranking Nigeria, Zambia, Paraguay, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Venezula and Russia as the largest countries on the globe with active corruption indices with Liberia and Mongolia leading the table.

According to the report, the world's corrupt nations differ in many ways. Four are located in Africa, three in Latin America and two in Asia. These nations also vary considerably in size and population. Mongolia has just 3.2 million residents, while Mexico, Nigeria and Russia are three of the largest countries on the globe, each with more than 100 million people.

In Nigeria, 84% of those surveyed by Transparency International claimed corruption had increased in the past two years, a higher percentage than almost any other country in the world.

Troublingly, 75% of those surveyed also said the government was, at best, ineffective at fighting corruption, worse than in all but 10 countries.

TI says Nigeria is heavily dependent on the oil industry, yet the government refuses to act on accusations that the oil companies are underreporting the value of the resources they extract and the tax they owe by billions of dollars.

The report adds that "certain transparency groups also blamed politicians for encouraging corruption. In 2012, Nigeria had just the 37th largest GDP in the world, despite having the world's seventh largest population. In Liberia, the majority of Liberians surveyed said they believed the country was run either largely or entirely by a few entities acting in their own self interest.

"A world-leading 86% of residents who spoke to Transparency International claimed their government had been either ineffective or very ineffective at fighting corruption, while 96% of residents claimed Liberia's legislature was corrupt, also the highest percentage of any nation. A stunning 75% of residents surveyed claimed they had paid a bribe to secure some service, trailing only Sierra Leone.

"In all, 80% of the population had at one point been asked to pay a bribe. Recently, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf fired the country's auditor general for corruption. Many of those surveyed in the highly corrupt countries also felt their governments were not holding up their end of the bargain."

According to the report, "in seven of the nine countries, more than half of those questioned felt their government was ineffective at fighting corruption. In Liberia, 86% of residents surveyed said their government was ineffective at fighting the problem. This was the largest proportion of any of the 107 nations Transparency International surveyed. While corruption appears to affect every part of the public sector, certain segments were much worse than the rest.

"Globally, at least 60% of respondents claimed political parties and police were corrupt. Additionally, more than 50% of people stated their legislature, their public officials and their judiciary were corrupt. In the world's most corrupt nations, those institutions were, naturally, even worse. In Nigeria, 94% of people claimed their political parties were corrupt, the most in the world. Similarly, 96% of Liberians reported their legislature was corrupt, also the most in the world. In eight of the nine most corrupt nations, more than 80% of residents considered the police to be corrupt."

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 06:24 AM PDT

The "dangerous" ex-Chief Security Officer, CSO, to the late military dictator, Gen Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, has been set free by an Appeal Court.
Al-Mustapha had been convicted and sentenced to death for the assassination of late Kudirat Abiola, wife of the winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.

But the Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos ruled otherwise. The court overturned the conviction of the lower court which sentenced Al-Mustapha and his co-accused, Lateef Shofolahan, to death.

The court's decision has been sending shockwaves across Nigeria. But for Al-Mustapha and his supporters, it is celebration time.

One-Eyed Goat

A one-eyed goat that was born on a farm in Perundurai, Erode district, drew crowds to the farm as curious people paid a visit to see the rarity.
The farm owner, Kandasamy, 45, who has been breeding goats for the past 10 years, said that this was the first such occurrence.
"I have never witnessed such an incident in the past," he said. "A female goat gave birth to two calves, one of whom has just one eye right in the centre of its forehead."
Vetenarians pointed out that it was an anomaly and the outcome of a genetic disorder.
According to Coimbatore VOC Park Zoo director Dr K. Asokan, it's a genetic disorder and caused due to chromosome changes in the goat's system. "It's rare to see such goats in the villages," he said

Zambian Driver Bite And Stab His Way From The Clutches Of A Giant Python

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 06:21 AM PDT

Kelvin Katoka in his hospital bed at Kitwe Central Hospital
after surviving an attack by a giant python
A Zambian truck driver who was forced to kick, bite and stab his way from the clutches of a giant python, said Friday he was lucky to be alive.
Kelvin Katoka, 25, unknowingly ran into the giant snake, while driving his excavator in the bush at a copper mine in north western Zambia.

"Within no time, the python was all over my body and it then threw me on the ground," he told AFP by phone from his hospital bed, where he has been recovering for nearly a month.

Rock pythons are Africa's largest snake and can grow up to seven metres long. They have been known to kill and swallow whole antelope, wildebeest and even crocodiles.

Attacks on humans are rare.

Mr Katoka managed to bite the python as it coiled around him and held on in a "long struggle".

"It then clicked to my mind that I had a small knife in my work suit pocket and quickly, I rushed for it," he recalled.

"I stabbed it in the sides of its body and slowly it started loosening itself but by then, I had become weak."

The snake once again wrapped itself around his body and "started to apply saliva all over my face in readiness to swallow me," he said.

Already weak, Mr Katoka started vomiting blood.

"I started vomiting blood and I lost vision of what was happening and that was how I became unconscious," he said.

"It then coiled itself round my body to the extent that people could not see anything else apart from the python itself."

Two workmates luckily came to where he had been working in Mwininlunga, 840 kilometres north west of Lusaka.

They killed the python, carried Mr Katoka away and took him to hospital.

"From the day I was attacked, I have known that my life will never be the same. I have pain in the ribs and I am very weak."

"I am lucky to be alive, it's by the grace of the Lord, I thought I was gone," said Katoka. [News]

Nigerian Girl Kills Herself After Her Rich Facebook Lover Wed Her Friend Due To Her Fault [MUST READ]

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 03:46 AM PDT

This is what you get these days when ladies only love men by what they can see; no true love again!

A big girl identified as Nkechi who hailed from Onitsha, Anambra State but settled in Asaba with her parents after graduation while searching for employment, got involved in Facebook Love at the centre where she was learning Computer.

Somehow she met a rich young man online, a Nigerian. The man decided to disguised himself as a 'cripple' to her whenever he arrive Nigeria, but he is actually a lawyer trained in the United Kingdom.

It was gathered that after series of chats, the 'cripple' asked for her hand in marriage and Nkechi immediately accepted, not knowing that the man will disguise as a cripple to test her. After their relationship which lasted about seven months online, the young lawyer, who was identified as Henry (surname withheld), returned to Nigeria on a wheelchair.

Nkechi, accompanied by her friend, went to the airport to welcome him, but was shocked to see him on a wheelchair and when he begged her to marry him, she refused.

According to reports, Nkechi continued to refuse his proposal, despite his pleas and a visit to her house. She also did not listen to her friend. Her friend, identified as Onyinye, a fashion boutique owner, living somewhere around Infant Jesus area of Asaba, was shocked at her friend's decision after pleading with her to reconsider her "wheel chair" lover, but Nkechi refused.

Unfortunately for Nkechi, her friend Onyinye started feeling pity for Henry's condition, not knowing that the man is not actually a cripple. Onyinye thus accepted to marry Henry since Nkechi has turned him down.

Consequently, Brimtime.com gathered that Henry went ahead to finalise wedding plans with Onyinye. They had the traditional marriage and white wedding last weekend in Asaba.

However, at the wedding reception, Henry got off his wheelchair to the amazement of all and told everyone present that he was never a 'cripple,' but had to disguise himself because he was hoping to get married to a Nigerian lady who would have genuine love for him, irrespective of his "condition".

It was jubilation all the way and people started praising Onyinye for being a virtuous woman.

When the news got to Nkechi to her lover was actually not a cripple but just testing her, she collapsed.

Disillusioned 30-year-old Nkechi, a graduate of Micro-biology later committed suicide due to the shame that her finacee, who she met on Facebook, had gotten married to her best friend.

In her suicide note, Nkechi wrote:

"I have gone to rest as I cannot stand the situation after the house I built has collapsed. This is a lesson for single ladies; never reject any suitor, so that you don't end up dead."

The Police in Delta State confirmed Nkechi's unfortunate action, her parents are said to be in shock.

Pregnant Alhaja Arrested During Armed Robbery Operation In Lagos

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 03:20 AM PDT

Nemesis has finally caught up with an Alhaja who goes on robbery operation despite being about 7-month old pregnant for her second husband.

Alhaja Sherifat Asabi Ojeleke was arrested with Samson Giwa, Matthew Ineke and Gbenga Oyedele. They are currently singing like a canary in the detention cells of the detectives attached to the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) of the Lagos State police command.
Alhaja and the three other suspects were arrested for their roles in trans-border armed robbery operations. The gang members usually invade Lagos and others South-West states from Cotonou, Republic of Benin and went on the prowl in search of posh vehicles.

The 35-year-old Alhaja who claimed her parents hail from Ilorin, Kwara State capital, but had for many years stayed in Cotonou to make ends meet, said her second husband, Gbenga Ojuoye, who is responsible for her seven-month-old pregnancy, introduced her to armed robbery.

"I was once married. In the first marriage, I was blessed with three children, including twins. My first child, Mujidat, a female is 16 years old, but I divorced my first husband.

"I deal in local herbs in Cotonou. I prepare herbs for married ladies who are looking for the fruits of the womb. It was in that process, I came in contact with Gbenga Ojuoye, who I knew to be a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers at Owode-Yewa area of Ogun State. We met at Owode-Apa two years ago."

The police is at a loss on whether to commence her prosecution or not, due to her being heavily pregnant.[Naijaurban]

An Angry Mob Has Set Three Suspected Armed Robbers Ablaze In Ikotun, Lagos

Posted: 12 Jul 2013 03:00 AM PDT

PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the robbers were set on fire on Wednesday evening, shortly after robbing a recharge card trader at Second Junction bus stop on Governor's Road.

Our correspondent, who visited the area, observed burnt tyres, carcass of a burnt motorcycle and some human flesh on the side of the road.
The recharge card trader, Ese Akporhono, who had a bandage on her head, told our correspondent that the robbers came to her shop posing as customers.

She said a few seconds later, the suspects pointed a gun at her and stole recharge cards worth N400,000 before fleeing.

She said, "Around 5pm, I was closing the shop when the men approached me saying they wanted to buy recharge card.

"Before I knew what was happening, the men brought out guns and went into my shop, They stole recharge cards and money. I engaged them in a struggle and attempted to prevent them from fleeing. They overpowered me and used the butts of their guns to hit me in the face and head."

Our correspondent learnt that the robbers allegedly snatched a motorcycle and shot a man in the area and were fleeing when a motorist knocked them down.

An eyewitness, who requested anonymity, said a bystander prevented them from fleeing as he pelted them with stones while they were attempting to stand up.

Other residents quickly joined the bystander and grabbed the weak robbers, beating them up to a pulp.

He said, "After the vehicle knocked them down while they were attempting to escape, we seized them and beat them to a pulp. The crowd grew larger and this attracted the attention of policemen."

Our correspondent learnt that a team of policemen from Ikotun Police Station stormed the scene and attempted to rescue the robbers but were overwhelmed by the mob.

It was learnt that policemen even fired gunshots into the air but the mob remained adamant.

A woman, who runs a bar in the area, said another team of policemen also arrived from Area M, Idimu, but the mob set the robbers ablaze.

She said, "The policemen came in a patrol vehicle and asked the crowd to hand over the robbers but they refused because they did not trust the police.

"Another team of policemen also came but the crowd ignored them. Some of them (crowd) got tyres, placed them round the robbers' necks and set them ablaze.

"They however handed over their guns to the police."

When asked why the residents took laws into their own hands, the woman said there had been an increase in robbery in the area and the police had failed them.

She said, "It is because armed robbers have been terrorising us that is why we close our shops early. Last year, a pregnant woman was robbed and killed in this area.

"We cannot continue to fold our arms. By this act, robbers will be afraid anytime they think of coming here."

Akporhono told our correspondent that her recharge cards were still with the police and they had refused to return them to her.

"Police are holding my recharge cards as exhibit, I want them back because I am the victim," she said.

When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said she was aware of the incident and promised to call back.

I think she should learn to be courteous when addressing her colleagues especially on social networks.
