The unfortunate event happened over the weekend in Nanka, Anambra state. It is claimed that the victims were erecting canopies for the burial ceremony of

a relative one late Mr James Ibe when a 33KVA high tension wire allegedly magnetized them as the victims were made to lift the canopy in place. Six of the men carrying the canopy received severe electric shock and were rushed to the Teaching Hospital at Nnewi. However, one of them who was gearing up for his marriage in comming weeks, identified as Chekwube died instantly.

Abducted Chibok girls’ parents shun Pres. Jonathan’s invitation, Presidency blames opposition!

Some parents of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok, Borno State, over three months ago on Tuesday shunned President Goodluck Jonathan's invitation.

Jonathan had on Monday told a girl-child education campaigner, Malala Yousafzai, that he was ready to meet the parents.

Yousafzai, who had earlier met with some parents and some girls, who escaped from their abductors, said she told Jonathan of the distraught parents' desire to meet with the President in order to share their stories with him.

A meeting of the President with the abducted girls' parents was therefore fixed for Tuesday by 4pm at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

None of the parents however showed up for the meeting despite that the President was waiting to receive them.

Some government officials, including the Minister of State, Education, Nyesom Wike; and the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, who were billed to join the President to receive the parents, later left when it became clear that they would not honour the invitation.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, later told State House correspondents that he received a telephone call indicating that the parents would not honour the invitation.

Okupe said to show the President's readiness to receive them, Coaster buses were dispatched to go and convey them to the Presidential Villa.

He said investigation revealed that the escaped girls and the parents of the abducted girls were whisked away back to Borno State from Abuja early Tuesday morning by the BringBackOurGirls campaigners.

Okupe said it had become obvious that the campaigners were being driven by politics.

He claimed that the motive behind their action was to ensure that Jonathan was discredited so that he would not be able to present himself for re-election in 2015.

He however said the President had directed that letters be sent to the parents, inviting them for a rescheduled meeting, which may hold next week.

Okupe said, "The meeting was scheduled for 4pm today (Tuesday) at the instance of the request that was made by Malala and the President graciously agreed within 24 hours to meet with them (then parents).

"But unfortunately the BringBackOurGirls leadership prevailed on the parents of the girls, stopped them from coming.

"Therefore, what happened was that they actually shunned the meeting with Mr. President because the foreign media and everybody were waiting for this meeting and since they were no longer coming and they made it expressly clear that they were no longer coming, infact that the girls were just few minutes away from Chibok, the meeting was aborted.

"It was aborted because of the failure of the girls and the parents to show up; they actually shunned the meeting. The President was waiting, the NSA was waiting, top government officials were waiting to receive them for private consultation with the President as promised."

He debunked insinuation that the leadership of the BringBackOurGirls were having the upper hand over the Federal Government.

In a statement he issued in the name of the President earlier, Okupe had said it appeared that the fight to get the girls back was not only a fight against insurgency, but also against a political opposition.

The statement read, "It is with great regret that I announce the cancellation of the meeting with 12 parents of the abducted Chibock children, as well as five of the brave girls who escaped from the terrorist organisation, Boko Haram.

"I scheduled this meeting, which was to be open to the media for coverage by Nigerian and international press, to listen to their stories and to privately brief the parents and the girls on our efforts to rescue the abducted girls.

"My priority is not politics. My priority is the return of these girls"

"Unfortunately, political forces within the Nigerian chapter of BringBackOurGirls have decided to take this opportunity to play politics with the situation and the grief of the parents and the girls. They should be ashamed of their actions.

While Speaking with fans and journalists on Monday, Chelsea FC and Super Eagles Super-star Mikel Obi disclosed that he's found love.
Admitting that he's Not searching anymore, the footballer who is currently in a relationship with a Russian lady told Reporters "I've been dating seriously for two years now. I'm in love. I've found love"
He gave the response after being asked to disclose when he'll be getting married.
Although he didn't reveal the name or identity of his leading lady, all directions point to his Russian girlfriend whom he introduced the world in January.
The 27-year-old footballer was criticized online in January for dating a "white woman" for which he responded to a critic, "Sister take it easy, it (is) only a photo, no marriage yet. Trust me"
Hmmm, it seems he is thinking to walk her down the aisle now!

Olawunmi Toriola, a graduate of Linguistics from University of Ilorin, is a Nollywood actress and a businesswoman. The Ogun State born lady who is at present on her National Youth Service Corps in Lagos, speaks with Tribune about her childhood fantasy of becoming a lawyer, why she chose acting and romance. Excerpts:

Growing up

Growing up was cool. My parents, though disciplinarian, were loving.

How it all began

Before I gained admission into the university, I saw an advertisment for a movie auditioning by Funke Akindele. I obtained the form and was given a role to play in Isese lagba, a film produced by Tawa Ajisefini and packaged by Funke Akindele. After that encounter, I fell in love with acting and decided to pursue it as a career. That was in 2007, I then joined Odunfa Caucus where I trained and graduated as an actress. When I gained admission into the university in 2009, I had to take a break from acting so I could concentrate on my studies. However, I still featured in some movies once in a while. The movies I featured in included, Asewo by Sunny Alli, Ojo Idajo Gongo Aso by Yinka Quadri, Anu obi, Anu Oju and some others. It was however the movie, Iwakiwa that gave me prominence.

Challenges faced

The challenge I faced was oppression by those at the top, one didn't know what could get them angry so one had to be very careful with them. Another challenge was that only few people saw anything good in upcoming acts, and encouraged us.

My first experience on set

it was cool. I wasn't afraid but had issues with my lines. It took me some time to deliver the lines well but when I got it right, it was perfect. I thank God for how far I have come since then. I have featured in so many other movies like EEga,Iwakiwa,Arufin,Kinimoshey,Oloosha, Abesujobi, Ite Oku and many more. Also, I have been able to produce my first movie titled Eto which was released on Monday, 7th July 2014. It was directed by Abbey Lanre and marketed by Corporate Pictures. As far as I am concerned, God has really helped me and I am expectant because I believe so much in what I'm doing and I derive satisfaction from it.

Coping with competition in the industry

I am operating at my own pace. I don't compete, if you get there before me, fine, the most important thing is getting fulfillment from what one is doing. Having said that, fame is given by God. What I can do on my part is to work hard, try to improve myself, do my best and leave the rest to God. I believe God will surely crown my effort with success.

What I would have done aside acting

Hmm! I would have been a lecturer because I like passing knowledge across. I still get to do that through acting. So, I will choose acting, again and again.

Roles interpretation

I can't act nude or feature in a pornographic movie. Aside those two, I am good for any role.

Favourite pastime

I'm an indoor person, I don't usually go out so, I relax at home and listen to music. I became exposed at an early age so I did all the clubbing I wanted to do in the university. Nowadays, clubs don't interest me any longer. I am a very busy person, I am a corps member who is serving her fatherland, I am an actress who has to go to location and also do business. So, I don't have time for clubs.

Combining acting with youth corps and my business

Well, I have a mobile shop. My car is my office so I am not restricted by my business. I sell human hair. While it is true that acting is time consuming, I don't allow it to affect my service to my fatherland. I make sure I manage my time well.

Special treat

If I want to pamper myself, I will go on a shopping spree. I love to shop.

Marital status

I am single and not searching. That is all I will say about that. Well, on the qualities I want in a man, he must be God fearing, a man who has a good job. He must not judge me based on what he might have heard or seen about actresses.

Coping with advances from male admirers

Well, I believe I am coping very well. I make sure I draw the lines. I don't get carried away. I am friendly but reserved. I know when to stylishly excuse myself when I see that the "relationship" is going towards the extreme. At such times, I am very strict with the person.

On romance

My cardiac sign is Cancer. Cancers are romantic, caring and sexy .I am not an exception to the rule as I am sexy and romantic. I love to hang out with my partner at the beach or anywhere close to water. What I cherish most in a relationship is that my man must see me first as a friend before seeing me as a lover.

The mastermind of the April 14th Nyanya bomb blast, Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, who fled to Sudan after the bombing, has been arrested and handed over to Nigerian Security officials by INTERPOL.

29 year old Sadiq, believed to have been radicalized while studying at the South Wales University in Sudan, was arrested on May 14th and was only extradited today to Nigeria.

Dr Dre might be hip-hop's first billionaire but he is very much after the money! His company is suing alleged counterfeiters for billions of dollars. Some websites based in China are selling fake headphones sporting the "B" logo and have generated $135 billion in revenue.

The lawsuit aims at stopping all sales of knock headphones and to seize ownership of the fraudulent domain names that sell the bogus headphones.

Dr Dre and Beats Electronics also want all profits from the sale.

Losing someone very close to you can be very painful, let alone your soul mate. Tears rolled on Friday when late gospel singer, Kefee Don-Momoh was laid to rest in her hometown in Delta State.

Her husband, who was still grieved, eulogised his late wife at the burial.

He reportedly said, "You were a woman of principle, straightforward, strong willed and determined. You were the symbol of hope. When I look through your eyes little did I know that the end has come. Death is inevitable but no man desires death at the time it comes.

"I am consoled by the fact that you are now translated from this sinful environment to a better place where the lord has made for the righteous men of your kind. Farewell my desire. Rest in the bosom of the Lord till we meet on the Lord's appointed time."

After 5 months of silence, South African Olympic and Paralympic track star, Oscar Pistorius has returned to Twitter and he's been posting tweets on forgiveness, love & prayer.

This is coming after his spokeswoman revealed today that Oscar Pistorius was involved in a brawl at a nightclub over the weekend which has now focused fresh attention on the athlete's character.

Pistorius had an altercation with businessman Jared Mortimer in a South African nightclub after Mortimer supposedly "aggressively interrogated" Pistorius about his murder trial, which has attracted huge domestic and international attention. Witnesses to the brawl say Oscar Pistorius was "drunk and aggressive" when he got into the fight but his spokesperson says Mortimer was the aggressor. That Pistorius left the club soon after and now "regrets the decision to go into a public place and thereby inviting unwelcome attention. His tweets continue below.

Oscar's murder trial was adjourned until August 7 to allow the legal teams prepare closing arguments. He faces life in prison if convicted of murder.

Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon has returned to movie set after taking a 4-months break from acting. The Omo Iya Kan star, who was in South Africa for 2-months to shoot an upcoming TV series, Lincoln's Clan alongside Nobert Young and Ooyekunle, has returned to movie set courtesy Africa Magic Original movies. Sources disclosed that the actress is currently working with popular Tinsel director, Alex Mouth on a new movie entitled Time Knocks.

55 Jailed In Kano For Taking Alcohol!

55 persons, 50 married men and five women have been sentenced to 4 months imprisonment each in Kano State for taking alcohol during the on-going Ramadan fasting.

The board's Director-General, Alhaji Abba Sufi, told NAN that the convicts were apprehended last week following raids of hideouts in the state. He disclosed that all the 55 persons have been sentenced to four months imprisonment without an option of fine in order to serve as deterrent to others who might contemplate doing same.

"Even if we are not in the month of Ramadan, nobody should take alcohol because the state is implementing Sharia law," he said.

Kim Kardashian is reportedly set to earn a whopping $200million in one year from a free video game she only launched last month which ranked number three yesterday on the iTunes charts. Bloomberg is now reporting that the game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, could be the reality star's most lucrative venture yet.

"Since its June 25 release, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood has risen as high as second among most-downloaded free-to-play games at Apple Inc. (AAPL)'s U.S. App Store, and the well-reviewed title yesterday was third. Its success has driven shares of creator Glu Mobile Inc up 42%.

"It might be our biggest game of the year," Chief Executive Officer Niccolo de Masi said in an interview. "We're not surprised. Kim is a one-of-a-kind talent with an incredibly precise fit to the game engine that we tailored but already had in the company."
The Kardashian game takes users inside Hollywood, guided by a virtual Kim who offers advice on how to become an A-list celebrity, starting from the so-called E-list. "Dating famous people will get you more fans, too," instructs Kardashian, who in real life is married to rap singer Kanye West.
While the game is free to play, the goal is to get users hooked on in-app purchases such as clothing or a burst of energy needed for traipsing through Hollywood. Users can spend as much as $99.99 for 175,000 virtual dollars. A trip to Beverly Hills costs 4 game "dollars," while 400 will buy a necklace.
Kardashian's voice guides the uninitiated through casting calls and parties, while users dodge surly tweets from rivals.
The game gives Kardashian's most fervent fans a new way to satisfy their appetites, de Masi said.
"Whether you're following Kim on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or watching her show, with this game, you can play all the time," de Masi said. "You can get your Kim interaction anytime you choose."
Annual revenue from Kim Kardashian: Hollywood may reach $200 million, estimates Douglas Creutz, an analyst with Cowen & Co. in New York, who has the equivalent of a buy rating on Glu Mobile and expects the stock to rise to $6 in the next year.
It's the only title among the top 10 in the App Store with a five-star rating, the highest possible, based on thousands of user reviews.
"There's no such thing as bad publicity, right?" Creutz said. "Obviously, Kim Kardashian's brand has driven people to download the game. But at this point, the game has taken on a life of its own."

'How i almost killed myself with my Father’s gun at age 10!' -Wole Soyinka Reveals!

"I used to go with my father when he hunted. It was a mere air gun but was good enough for squirrels, the wild pigeon and occasional rabbit. I was just curious. One day I sat in the house's frontage waiting for him to come out of his bedroom so I could accompany him.

"I just felt there was something about that part of his gun which he used to pull. I tried the same motion and it just exploded; but he knew it was his fault so he never chided me. He knew he should never have left that gun loaded and he knew me enough to know that I had learnt that lesson and I didn't need to be reminded of it. Of course, there was a sort of mutual standoff; I was not rebuked but he knew I was not going to do it again."
The literary giant, Wole Soyinka said this during his 80th birthday celebration in Abeokuta, Ogun state on Sunday.
Reminiscing on his childhood years, Soyinka said his bravery and sometimes cunning traits as a child didn't go down well with his mother who reasoned that his over-confidence would harm him in the journey of life.
The vintage author said, "When a child tries out something which people, even adults, should undertake with great caution, then they think that child is over-confident and is going to destroy himself.
"I think it stemmed from the fact that if I thought about something which was possible, then I should be ready to test it."
" I enjoyed trying out the practical side of science at home— I used to perform experiments. Things like that, you know, sometimes blew up in my face. Same with putative artistry.
"I would re-arrange my mother's shop because I felt mine was the best way. I looked at customers, studied them and decided which arrangements would attract them more. She would give up and let me have my way. After I had gone back to school, she would undo everything."
He said his early school days still remain fresh in his memory, affirming that he was able to cope with older boys as a 10year-old scholarship student at Government College, Ibadan because his unique approach to issues.
He said, "Those school mates of mine, they were bullies. They were terrifying because they looked big. Some of them, I am sure, had children already. Some had moustaches and so they shaved every morning.
"The 'over-confidence' that my mother used to complain of saved me and put me in trouble also. Because they were big they felt they should trample all over me. I had no hesitation in taking them on.
"It was a very good training because you defeat people like that largely with moral persistence. They knew they were misusing their power.
"Whenever they turned on me, being really small, the bullying got really intense because these big boys could not stand the idea that this rondo (small) boy was sitting while others were standing. They couldn't stand it. They intensified the bullying, which made me even more aggressive."

Scores killed as Boko Haram raze churches, houses in Borno! [Photos]

Suspected members of Boko Haram sect very early yesterday morning July 14th invaded Dille Village in Askira-Uba LGA of Borno State, killing at least five people and razed 3 churches including the Church of Brethern in Nigeria, EYN, as well as shops and residential buildings.

Security officials were said to have arrived the village in two Nigerian Air Force fighter jets and killed many of the terrorists. Dille village is around the shores of Sambisa forest.

Governor Nyako Of Adamawa state impeached, his deputy resigns!

Adamawa State House of Assembly members this afternoon July 15th impeached the state governor, Murtala Nyako, following a report by a 7-man investigative committee that probed allegations of gross misconduct and financial impropriety against him.

The report, which was read by the State Assembly Speaker Umaru Fintiri on the floor of the House, found the governor guilty of all the 16 allegations of gross misconduct. 18 members of the Assembly then signed a resolution removing the governor.

The House then passed a motion that the Speaker, Umaru Fintiri, should be sworn in as the state's acting governor. According to reports, that will be done by 4pm today.

The Deputy Governor who was also investigated by the panel, had resigned his position earlier in the day in a letter he sent to the House of Assembly which was read by members and immediately approved.

Goal.com recently publish a list named as the goal rich list in 2014 which may not be the final and most accurate list but according to that list Ronaldo is ranked as the richest footballer in the calendar year previously he was at the third position. His total earning was estimated in the current year to be 158 million Euros followed by the famous Lionel Messi with his wealth in 2014 up to 156 million Euros. All the other famous footballers earning is calculated to be far less then these two living legends, behind these two Samuel Eto'o, Wayne Rooney, Neymar young Brazilian rising star and Kaka are also included in the list.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo €148 m (£122m)

Italian captain a world's best goal stopper is ranked as the 9th richest footballer in the world in 2014. Although his performance in the year 2013 was not satisfactory but his bank balance and his popularity still boost him up. And last month the privileged youth took their shameless oversharing to another popular app - Snapchat.

Launched by a 17-year-old boy from the UK, Rich Kids of Snapchat uses a Facebook page to give a glimpse into the luxurious lifestyles of a group of teens and 20-somethings.

Whether using Instagram or Snapchat, the images of sports cars, private jets, luxury goods and lavish homes all use captions that revea the kids' nonchalant attitude to money.

Last week the anonymous creator behind Rich Kids of Instagram released a co-authored novel based on the antics of the uber-rich teens on its blog.

Leeson became obsessed with Kim K after she started watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians in 2009 and, having been bullied at school, she began imitating the most famous (and most annoying) (My favorite is Khloe) Kardashian in order to give herself a boost of confidence.

When she's "got her Kimmy on" Leeson says, she feels unstoppable, invincible and like she's really making something of herself. She also says that being Kim Kardashian makes her love herself a little more. (Which makes some sense because there's no one that loves themselves more than Kim. Only Kanye can match her complete self-absorption.)

Leeson has spent over 30 thousand dollars to transform herself into her idol. She's undergone breast augmentation and regularly pays for teeth whitening, makeup, padded underwear (the Metro refers to it as bum padding which makes it sound fun and quaint but also not 350 pounds fun and quaint), hair extensions and extensive tanning.
