Between them they impress horrified audiences at the Thai zoo's reptile show with their fearless acts. One stunt sees the male run, slide along the floor before reaching in to kiss the crocodile on the tip of its nose without it even flinching. And not to be out done, the female casually puts the crocodile into a relaxed trance using a bamboo stick, before carefully placing her head between its gaping jaws. Ian Maclean, who shot the footage during a recent trip to the show, said: 'Would you take this job for $7, considering the dangers? A study with reptiles at Florida's St. Augustine Aliigator Farm Zoological Park found that the reptiles slam their jaws shut with 3,700 pounds per square inch. A human chomps a steak at around 150 to 200 per square inch. Last year a trainer at a popular tourist crocodile farm near Bangkok was lucky to escape serious injury when one of the reptiles snapped its jaws shut on his head He was bitten when his hand slipped on the wet ground and accidentally brushed the animal's cheek. | 'Stop abusing my husband!' -Patience Jonathan tells Nigerians! Posted: 28 May 2014 08:51 AM PDT  Mrs. Jonathan gave the advice while addressing children at an event she organised to mark the 2014 Children's Day at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Quoting from the Holy Bible, she said God's instruction to mankind to honour their parents was not limited to biological parents only. She said, "It is bad to abuse our country and the President because God has made him the head. "The Almighty God commands us to pray for our leaders. We therefore need to pray for the development of our country and the president. "Remember that a child that abuses his father and mother is disobeying God's commandment because the Bible says in Exodus 20:12 that you should honour your father and mother so that you may live long in the land that the Lord your God has given you. "The Holy Bible is not referring to only biological parents. Any one that is older than you even for a day must be respected. Let us therefore join hands and rebuild our country Nigeria." She assured the children and adults who attended the event that the Federal Government is doing all within its powers to secure the release of the over 200 schoolgirls abducted from Chibok, Borno State. While calling on Nigerians to be united in the fight against terrorism, Mrs. Jonathan also advised that citizens should learn to encourage soldiers who are at the fore front of the fight. "It is the right of every child to go to school. It is only through education that you can be able to achieve your dreams and contribute meaningfully to your community and the nation. "We desire peace in our community and in our nation. I want you all to be ambassadors of peace in your schools and practise good manners. We have no other country than Nigeria. "We therefore need to be patriotic and committed to our dear country. We should strengthen our covenant with our country as outlined in the National Pledge. "Let us therefore be united in fighting terrorism. We should encourage our soldiers who are in the frontline to rescue our beloved daughters," she said. She promised that she would not relent in her efforts to assist in securing the release of the abducted girls. The event which featured special inter-faith prayers for the release of the schoolgirls also saw some children presenting letters of demand on the abducted girls addressed to the Boko Haram sect to the President's wife. The President's wife however said since she did not know members of the sect, she would forward the children's letters to the National Security Adviser orthe Chief of Defence Staff. "Let me thank the children that gave me letter to give Boko Haram. Well, I have received your letter, but I am not the one to give it to Boko Haram because I don't know Boko Haram and I have never seen Boko Haram. But I will give it to the NSS or Chief of Defence Staff who will submit your letter accordingly. "To my children parliament, thank you for your letter. Thank you for your deliberation. I have received what you gave to me. I will make sure I pass it to the President because it is addressed to him and the other one is addressed to Boko Haram. | How Boko Haram's Arms Suppliers was Captured By Nigerian Army! Posted: 28 May 2014 06:19 AM PDT  According to reports, the suspects include a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, and a corporal, Abu Haruna, Solomon, arrested for illegal trafficking of arms and ammunition. It was gathered that the suspects were captured in Nsukka by men of the Nigerian Army while they were travelling in a bus heading to the North from Imo State. Some of the arms and ammunitions recovered from them include 40 AK47 magazines, 4 boxes of AK47 live ammunition, 100 pieces of live cartridges, one piece of Denin Mopol khaki and charms concealed in a cap. The captured arms suppliers confessed their involvement in supplying of arms to insurgents in the Northern Nigeria. A police corporal serving in Imo State Police Command was also involved in the arms running, according to a source. The retired DSP, Abu Haruna, confessed that he had been in the business of arms dealing since he retired from the police. He said their mission was to supply the ammunition to thier buyer in Taraba state. The suspects were said to be taken to Nsukka Police Division before their transfer to the state CID. | TOO BAD! Unknown Gunmen invade Benue University, rape 20 female students! Posted: 28 May 2014 06:12 AM PDT  It was gathered that the gang members stormed the Technical Block of the female hostel about 10.00pm, beating and raping the girls, before carting away their valuables. Tribune reports that armed men successfully carried out the operation without interference by the university security operatives . It would be recalled that a female student of the university was raped about a week ago by a group of young men numbering four, when she was returning from where she had gone to read around 9.00 pm. Also, about three weeks ago, a 100-level female student was said to have been shot on campus by unknown gunmen, with her iPad, phones and cash snatched. Following the developments, female students of the university, on Tuesday, marched in protest to the office of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Charity Angya, insisting they needed an explanation on why the attacks were directed at them. The Vice Chancellor, who assured on security beef-up, also followed the protesting students into their hostel, while about seven students who were wounded in the last attack were said to have been taken to the school clinic for treatment. Dean, Students Affairs, Professor Armstrong Adejoh, confirmed the developments, but insisted it was an internal security issue. | Jos Bombings: Security Agents Arrest Six Boko Haram Suspects! Posted: 28 May 2014 06:16 AM PDT  "Were there 100 suicide bombers unleashed on the Tin City ready to strike? "Were there 10 bombs already planted around the city by Boko Haram insurgents ready to go off? The Special Task Force (STF) on the Jos crisis said yesterday that three people died from the failed suicide attack on a football viewing centre in the city on Saturday night. Two others were injured. A vehicle driven by the bomber and a block of shops were destroyed, it said in a statement by the STF spokesman Capt. Ikedichi Iweha. More than 100 people were killed in the first attack in Jos last week. A source within the security agencies alleged that over 100 suicide bombers might have been deployed in Jos. The senior security officer said: "Let me tell you, we are in serious trouble in this state. Do you know that since last Tuesday's explosion more than six members of Boko Haram have been caught and arrested from various places within the city" The source added: "All the tension and rumour you are hearing everywhere in town that some people were caught with bomb here and there in Jos are real. Don't just call them rumour; they are real. We have discovered at least six of them since that Tuesday attack" It was learnt that one of the Boko Haram agents apprehended last Friday at the Air Force base in Jos had confessed that there were at least 100 of them deployed in Jos city to detonate explosives at identified points. The suspect reportedly claimed that he was heading for the Airforce Hospital to deliver food to a patient on admission. But a security check on the suspect's car revealed he was carrying explosives and was immediately apprehended and the explosive disabled. According to the source: "The suspect made a confession that even shocked the Air force men interrogating him. He revealed that he was on errand for Boko Haram to deliver explosives at identified location, and that he was not the only one on such errand, he claimed there were at least 100 already despatched to the city with explosives" A man suspected to be spying for Boko Haram was apprehended at Mobile Police barrack, the MOPOL 8 close to the Air Force base Jos. The state police spokesperson Felicia Anslem said "the suspect was been arrested and detained for trespassing" The arrest of the suspect at MOPOL 8, Jos came after letters of threat allegedly authored by Boko Haram were received at government establishments in the state capital. A similar letter of threat was received at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Federal Government College Jos, The Plateau State House of Assembly and other places. A security source said: "These threat cannot be treated as mere threats, since after the twin bomb blast. Others explosive have been intercepted and the suspect already helping the security agencies on information about their mission in Jos" The Archbishop of Jos, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Dr. Benjamin Kwashi, yesterday challenged security agencies in Jos to comb and fish out the remaining bombs planted by members of the Boko Haram sect in the city. He said a member of the sect, arrested at the wake of last week's twin bombs that rocked the city confessed that they (Boko Haram) had planted 10 bombs at different locations in the city. The Archbishop who spoke in Minna while delivering a sermon titled "The good Shepherd" at the dedication of the Cathedral Church of St. Peter and the presentation of four Archbishops of the church, said: "There were twin bomb explosions a few days ago in Jos in which many people were killed. Just yesterday when I was about to come to Minna, another bomb exploded in Jos. We are aware that one of the Boko Haram men arrested by the security has confessed that they planted 10 bombs in the city. We are also aware that one of the bombs has been seen and detonated by the police. "But where are the remaining six? The Police must urgently search and recover the hidden bombs to save lives and property", he pleaded. | 'How I escaped Jos Bomb blasts' – Onazi, Super Eagles midfielder Reveals Posted: 28 May 2014 06:16 AM PDT  The blasts at a crowded bus terminal and market killed at least 118 people. Onazi, 21, who was born in Jos, had just left the popular Jos Main Market last Tuesday, when the first blast rocked the area. The midfielder, who plays for Italian Serie A side Lazio, said: "I am very, very lucky, just by the grace of God." Onazi is now with the Super Eagles squad in London as they prepare for today's friendly against Scotland and he says he has been struggling to erase the memories of that dark day. Recounting his lucky escape, he told BBC Sport: "It was just like an ordinary day. Happy faces and friendly warmth that makes you feel happy to be back home. "We had gone to the railway market to get something. I think it was 15 minutes later when we heard the loud blast from the place. And suddenly, people were just running. "There was chaos and pandemonium. There was smoke, I was confused, lost and just wondered what had happened. I had no idea what was going on and it was scary. "All my life I have never heard a bang or boom like that." The second blast killed some of the rescue workers who had rushed to the scene, which was obscured by billows of black smoke. Posted: 28 May 2014 06:16 AM PDT  The video was said to have been handed to Goodluck Jonathan's office by an intermediary who started a dialogue with the group two weeks ago. The intermediary, a Nigerian journalist, obtained the video as a way of proving to Mr Jonathan's office that he had authentic lines of communication to Boko Haram's leaders. However, the source claimed that a subsequent deal to release the girls - planned for a week ago on Monday - was scrapped after Western governments placed pressure on Mr Jonathan not to negotiate for any prisoner swap. The deal would allegedly have seen around 50 of the girls released in exchange for an equivalent number of Boko Haram fighters currently in Nigerian jails. The Nigerian government has denied that any deal was on the table, and has so far neither confirmed nor denied the existence of the video. Claims of the video's existence surfaced as Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff claimed that the military now knew where the girls were located. Speaking on Monday, Staff Air Marshal Alex Badeh, described it as "good news for the parents" but said that the military would not risk "going there with force". The Nigerian military has made several unsubstantiated statements in the past over the girls, including a claim last week that it had been tracking them ever since they were kidnapped in mid-April. The Nigerian journalist who is said to have obtained the latest video was named by the source as Ahmed Salkida, who is from the north-east state of Borno, which is Boko Haram's main stronghold. His contacts with the group have been so close that on past occasions he has been arrested on suspicion of being a sympathiser, and two years ago he moved with his family to Dubai. However, around four weeks ago, the Nigerian government agreed for him to come back to Nigeria to see if he could assist in negotiating for the girls' freedom. He and a trusted cleric then risked their lives by heading up into the remote bushland areas where the group operate, meeting a senior assistant of Boko Haram's leader, Abubakar Shekau. "The government said to the intermediary to prove himself to show whether he was capable of brokering a deal or not, and insisted that he should obtain proof of life of the hostages," the source said. "So during his talks with the insurgents, he obtained a DVD which had clips of girls being interviewed by members of the group, in which they asked President Jonathan to do a prisoner swap to get them freed. "That DVD was shown to the government, and a deal was arranged so that the girls would have been released a week ago on Monday, but at last minute the government backed out." The precise reasons for the government's alleged change of mind were not known, said the source. But he pointed out that the weekend before the proposed release date, Mr Jonathan was at the summit to discuss the Boko Haram crisis in Paris, also attended by British and American officials as well as the governments of Niger, Cameroon and Mali. "The Nigerian government got a lot of offers of co-operation by neighbouring countries at the summit, and I think that emboldened them against negotiations," the source said. "They also seem to be afraid that if they do a prisoner swap, they will lose the support of the West." As a result, the source said, the negotiations had now "crashed", with Mr Salkida returning to Dubai. The DVD remains in the possession of the Nigerian government and has not been released publicly. The source added that a separate effort at mediation was now underway via Nigeria's former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, who stepped down in 2007 and was involved in a round of previous peace talks with the group in 2011-12. Mr Obasanjo is understood to have held a meeting in recent days with clerics at his country residence outside Lagos to explore new channels of dialogue. "Mr Obasanjo is very worried that this kidnapping is casting Nigeria in a bad light, and is also uncomfortable with Nigeria inviting other outside nations to assist," said the source. "The plan is to get the girls freed in exchange for some Boko Haram suspects who have been put in jail but never actually brought for trial before a court." Boko Haram, which wants to impose hardline Islamic rule on northern Nigeria, is believed to be holding a total of around 220 girls hostage. According to Daily Mail, Police official Naseem Butt said the 25-year-old had married Mohammad Iqbal, with whom she had been engaged for years against the will of her family. Her father had filed an abduction case against her husband, which the couple was contesting, her lawyer Mustafa Kharal said.Kharal said Parveen's relatives waited outside the court, which is located on a main downtown thoroughfare. As the couple walked up to the court's main gate, the family members fired shots in the air and tried to snatch her from Iqbal When she resisted, her father, brothers and other relatives started beating her, eventually pelting her with bricks from a nearby construction site, Iqbal said. Iqbal, 45, said he started seeing Parveen after the death of his first wife, with whom he had five children. 'We were in love,' he told reporters.  'I simply took her to court and registered a marriage,' he said.Butt, the police official, said Parveen's father surrendered after the incident and called the murder an 'honor killing.In honour killings, most of the time the women's killers are her family, said Wasim Wagha of the Aurat Foundation. Mother Burns 11-Year Old Son’s Face with an electric iron For Stealing (Photo) Posted: 28 May 2014 02:04 AM PDT  Daily Guide leant that the boy is currently receiving treatment at the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, Western Region, for the multiple burns he sustained. This paper gathered that the 28-year-old mother is in the grips of the Takoradi police while investigations into the incident continue. Speaking to journalists, Emmanuel Edwin Adogo, Assemblyman for Lower New Takoradi, disclosed that the little boy, Bernard Asafua, confessed to stealing the money belonging to his classmate after initially denying committing the offence. Mr. Adogo explained that the boy's initial denial angered his mother who allegedly injured the boy with a hot iron after subjecting him to severe beatings. According to sources, the grandmother of the boy rushed to his rescue when she heard him screaming while he was being beaten and also the pains he was feeling from the burns. The boy was quickly rushed to the New Takoradi Health Centre for first aid, but was later transferred to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital due to the severity of the burns.
