| TOO BAD! 70-year-old HIV Positive man R^pes 13-year-old girl! Posted: 12 Apr 2014 10:20 AM PDT  The suspect reportedly admitted to the crime and disclosed his HIV status. A 70-year-old man, Thursday, allegedly r*ped a 13-year-old girl in Barkinladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Chris Olakpe, confirmed this on Saturday to journalists in Jos, the state capital. Mr. Olakpe said the suspect, who is HIV positive, was arrested, following a tip off by neighbours; and brought to the state headquarters of the command. "A son of the landlord of the suspect, suspected the act of the 70-year-old man, and alerted the neighborhood," the police chief said, saying that led to the suspect's arrest. The suspect reportedly admitted to the crime and disclosed his HIV status. He then pleaded for mercy. We learnt that residents of the area had gathered to lynch the suspect, but for the intervention of the police. The Police Commissioner said the suspect was being interrogated by the police; while the victim has been taken to a hospital in the state for treatment. Mr. Olakpe, who spoke via a telephone conference, said the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations. There have been increased r*pe cases in Barkinladi. About two weeks ago, a mobile police officer attached to the Special Task Force on Jos crisis was dismissed from the Police Force, for allegedly r*ping a 4-year-old in Barkinladi. | 'How my sister sold me with Pregnancy for N100,000' -23-Yr-Old Victim Reveals! Posted: 12 Apr 2014 09:20 AM PDT  A 23-year-old pregnant woman, Jennifer Ogbonna, raised the emotion of people recently at Zone 2, Police Headquarters, Abeokuta, Ogun State, when she narrated how her sister tricked her into slavery and sold her off with her 7-month old pregnancy. She was then transported from Aba to Abeokuta after a couple who allegedly specialized in buying human beings from all parts of the country paid N100,000 to her sister. She told Vanguard "I was brought to Abeokuta by the woman's husband. I don't know that they had already paid money on my head. I only got to know in Abeokuta when I overheard the woman and her husband talking about child trafficking and I felt bad. I decided not to eat any of their food. There is one lady in that building, they call her Adeola, she would bring food for me and I would not touch it to the extent that the woman's husband pleaded with me to eat and still I refused and said I am going back to Aba where she brought me from.  It was further gathered that the husband, identified as Ismail Yusuf, is in charge of scouting for pregnant women as he reportedly went as far as Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and other states in the Eastern part of the country. The wife, Muyiba, was saddled with the task of nurturing the pregnant women till they deliver of their babies for onward sale.The husband, having bought their preys (pregnant women), would charm them on the spot and take them to their operational base in Abeokuta where they would nurture the victims and their pregnancies until they give birth, which they allegedly usually sell to couples that need children or for ritual purposes. It was also gathered that when these victims were bought, the couple would force them to swear to an oath not to escape. They would charm them so that they would not escape from them and people living around and security agencies would not have any clues of what they were doing in their den. Actually, my daughter got a scholarship from the Ivy League universities that accepted her, but we were preparing, her school mates that were supposed to go to the same school opted out because they said the school is too expensive and didn't get scholarship. So, because of that, my daughter said she did not want to go there alone because it's far from where we live and more of a white neighbourhood. That was when it dawned on me. Okay, so you opted for another school, and left the school that offered her (your daughter) scholarship? | SAD NEWS! Boko Haram kills Multitudes of UTME Candidates in Borno! Posted: 12 Apr 2014 07:35 AM PDT  Socres of students travelling to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in Borno State have been reportedly killed by the Boko Haram sect. They were among several persons that lost their lives in multiple attacks unleashed by the dreaded sect in four communities. The Senator representing Borno Central in the Senate, Zannah Ahmed, on Friday, accused the military of complicity in Thursday attack on part of troubled Borno State where he claimed that 210 people were killed in attacks on four towns. The towns included Dikwa, Kala Balge, Gambulga and Gwoza. The senator claimed that the attackers were all dressed in military uniforms and spoke English language. This was a departure from the Hausa and Kanuri language spoken by the Boko Haram insurgents. He even lamented that authorities of the military post in Gamboru, which purportedly received a distressed call from the people of Kala Balge avoided the town, claiming that it was not in its area of command. The senator who said he was compelled to speak out because his people were being killed on a daily basis, added "what happened in Borno was beyond understanding." He said: "It is a must for me to speak since the people lives are involved and they are my people. All these are happening in my constituency and it will be wrong to keep quiet. I feel so much pained and would not have spoken but definitely my conscience will not let me do that." He alleged that 210 people were slaughtered by marauders, who dressed in military uniforms and attacked the towns in two armored personnel cars and seven double cabin pickups. According to him, they attacked a Teachers College in Dikwa and killed seven people, burnt down the school library and administrative block. He said Kala Balge was the most devastated as 60 people were killed by the armed men who went on the rampage. He said after they left Kala Balge they attacked three other towns in the area where a total of 150 persons were killed. Our correspondent made repeated efforts to call the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Chris Olukolade, without success as the calls to his mobile telephone line did not connect. Our correspondent also sent a text message to the Defence Spokesman which had not been replied as of the time of filing the story. A security source, however, said that the insurgents laid ambush for a group of students who were on their way to Biu from Maiduguri to write Senior the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board Examination scheduled for Saturday April, 2014. It was learnt that the JAMB candidates were riding in eight vehicles were they ran into the insurgents ambush. It was, however, not clear whether the insurgents got the all occupants of the eight vehicles or not. He stated however that the incident took place on Wednesday evening. Punch! Posted: 12 Apr 2014 07:31 AM PDT  Although President of the newly formed Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Yemi Solade, has denied rumours of division in the association, there are strong indications things may not be as calm as he says. In a text message sent to Us, Solade claimed that a new group, The Movie Ambassador, led by actor, Saidi Balogun is a part of the bigger body. 'The Movie Ambassador is a nucleus group in TAMPAN,' he had said, but findings however revealed that few weeks ago in Ikorodu, Lagos State, when the duo of Jide Kosoko and Adebayo Salami, both past presidents of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP) used their veto powers to effect the change of name and set up a National Working Committee for TAMPAN, a few people, including Balogun, were not pleased. Many say that is the reason for the birth of TMA. 'We knew this was going to happen, we just didn't think it was going to be this soon. Saheed and few people didn't seem to like the way things went. I hope their group makes a head way because TAMPAN had the support of people that mattered in the Yoruba Film Industry,' an insider told us. We gathered that the likes of Foluke Daramola, Yomi Fabiyi, Aishat Abimbola, Laide Bakare and a few others felt the same way Balogun did and joined him to start the new group. Although efforts made to reach Balogun and Daramola to get their reaction were futile, we gathered that the new association is doing well as officers have been elected and activities have begun. | Enugu state Mysterious Healing River ‘Pool of Bethesda’ dries up! [PHOTO] Posted: 12 Apr 2014 06:11 AM PDT  The only permanent thing in the world is change. Less than four months after its inundation, the Enugu mystery(If You Missed the Pictures Click HERE) pool has dried up triggering major soil excavation by new visitors who had come for healing in the pool. The town itself which became a tourist destination a few months back, has had a fair share of the change as it has become a ghostly abandoned place. No people and vehicular movement were present; the motorcyclists have relocated to major towns while the plastic container' sellers at the junction leading to the forest have abandoned the business. The dreaded path to the forest took 20 minutes walk to the pool with heart palpitation. When Saturday Vanguard visited the pool recently, it was found to be completely drained with trenches here and there dug by desperate visitors with a view to getting water from the soil for healing. We had earlier visited the pool which many claimed had healing powers. Thousands of people from far and near visited the pool, dipped their bodies in the water, drank from the water, cut trees around the basin of the pool and took away sand within the precincts of the stream with the belief that it had supernatural healing powers. The seasonally flooded pool basin now look different from the surrounding upland. Most parts of the soil have been excavated by new visitors to the stream who rather than being utterly disappointed, dig up the pool's basin to see if they could get some water for healing. Leaves in the pool basin are compacted and had turned gray. The soil also exhibit features of dehydration, which meant they have been dried up for a period of time. There were not even water stains on the trunks of trees which was an indication of complete level of dryness. They explained that its inundation in the first place was not as result of heavy rainfall but natural. Christopher, who lives in Umuaga, said: "It does not matter the type of weather, even in the rainy season, the pool may not be flooded but may be aided by the level of rainfall. Why we believe the pool is mysterious is because it could spring up during the dry season and that is why it is called Oririmiri." Asked how the visitors felt when they discovered that the water had dried up, he stated: "they feel disappointed. That is why some of them dug up some areas to get water. Recently, some people came from the North and they had to dig up to six feet before getting water which they drank and collected in plastic containers to take home." he stated. Just as villagers and petty traders lament the slide in the profits they make on their brisk businesses, others including commercial motorcyclists noted that many of them had to relocate to the heart of the town to eke out a living. "We sold a lot before now because people throng the village. In fact, every part of the country must have heard about the river and that enough is a blessing for us. But you cannot compare the commercial activities then with what you have now. Not only the transport business benefited, everybody selling one thing or other other benefited," said a petty trader in the area. | Jungle justice!!! Angry mob sets suspected Female kidnapper on fire in Ilorin (Seee Shocking Photo) Posted: 12 Apr 2014 04:01 AM PDT  A middle-aged woman was on Friday lynched and set ablaze by an irate mob at Emir's road, near Opo-Malu junction, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. According to reports, the mother of the baby was alighting from a motorcycle and had asked the woman to assist her hold the baby. But surprisingly, the suspected kidnapper bolted away with the baby. Shocked, the mother of the baby raised alarm which attracted passersby and neighbours and they chased the fleeing suspect. The mob eventually caught up with her, stripped her naked and beat her mercilessly before setting her ablaze. The incident resulted in pandemonium as panic-stricken residents, shop owners, commuters and pedestrians fled in different directions. In the ensuing confusion, some motorists near the area abandoned their vehicles and took to their heels, while others made a detour to avoid being implicated. Also some confused passersby were said to have taken refuge in nearby residential buildings. Armed policemen from a Division of the state Police Command were quickly deployed to the troubled area. They consequently restored normalcy. A source who pleaded anonymity told journalists that they were shocked when the suspect ran away with the baby. He said: "A nursing mother who was cuddling a baby was alighting from okada (motorcycle) and asked the female kidnapper to help her hold her baby. Before we knew what was happening, the woman fled with the toddler and people caught her. She was given the beating of her life. When they discovered that the woman was unperturbed, they poured kerosene on her and set ablaze at the scene. Immediately the policemen arrived the scene, they started shooting and everybody scampered to safety."The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, confirmed the incident and confirmed the arrest of some suspects.
