According to the information, she died after observing an all night reading on Thursday 3rd April 2014 to prepare for her quiz the next day but to the surprise of everybody she did not wake up to go for the lecture. When her friends got tired of waiting for her to wake, they started to bang on her door to know whether she will open but she never did. After several knocking and banging on the door, they then broke into her room only to find nothing else but her lifeless darkened and changed body. We were told that her complexion was dark when they saw her in her room lying lifelessly. What could possibly be the cause of this death? [PHOTO] Posted: 10 Apr 2014 09:27 AM PDT  Blessing Aransiola was caught in the early hours of this morning April 10th allegedly trying to steal a 1 year old girl, Oreoluwa Adanri, from her parents home at Ademola Coker Street, Alagbole, Ogun State, PM News reports. Narrating what happened, Oreoluwa's mother, Mrs Adanri said Blessing gained entrance into their home around 4am by tearing their window net as they slept. She said she was woken up by the cry of her daughter in the hands of the suspect. "She picked up the baby as she was sleeping on the bed by the window and stole N5,000 kept in a purse. She was trying to run away when my husband ran after her and caught her. I raised an alarm to draw neighbours' attention to the incident and everybody came out to assist us," Mrs. Adanri narrated. Blessing was arrested and immediately taken to the Ajuwon station where she is being held for kidnapping In her statement, Blessing said she was homeless and was looking for a place to sleep when she found the passage of the Adanri's

| Panic In Abuja as ‘Special Rainbow’ Appears! [PHOTOS] Posted: 10 Apr 2014 07:39 AM PDT  The National Space Research Development Agency (NASRDA) has allayed fears by some Abuja residents that the unusual celestial display witnessed in the city Tuesday may be a sign of the end time. The Agency's Director of Communications, Felix Alle, told The Guardian Tuesday that the phenomenon is not an eclipse of the Sun but rather a 'special rainbow' that is heralding the rainy season. Indeed, the capital city, which had witnessed months of hot weather, had a sudden bout of rainfall on Monday night. By Tuesday morning, residents woke to see a special atmospheric feature. An ash-like patch formed something like a circle around the sky, with flashes of rainbow around. The scenario, which lasted for a little while, was difficult to explain, as many residents stole occasional glances at the scorching sun, while battling to get better view. Alle told The Guardian that though the scenario was spectacular, it was nothing to give any body fears. He said: " It is a special rainbow not an eclipse but far from the sun. It is a special form of rainbow and may have come because of the change in weather. "It also indicates the movement from dry to rainy season, and the volume of dust in the air from this part of Nigeria. Also, we are closer to the equator in this part of the country." According to bic.org, an international education service: "The light that we see coming from the sun or an electric light bulb appears to be clear and white. But it is really made up of bands or waves of colours. If we "bend" light through a round or angled surface we can break up the white beam into its colours. You can see this happen in soap bubbles, a diamond or other clear stones cut into triangular shapes or in a cut glass ornament or crystal. "The rainbow is made when the light from the sun enters the drops of falling water and is reflected back to us from the other side of the water drop. There are seven colours, which combine to make white light. These colours are called the Spectrum. We have already met six of these colours when we talked about the three prime colours and the colours that came between them when we mixed them. Do you remember - red - orange - yellow -green - blue – purple? In the Spectrum, purple is called "violet" and the seventh colour is a dark blue, which comes between the light blue and the violet. Posted: 10 Apr 2014 06:49 AM PDT  Alhaji Mutairu Babatunde Oriowo, husband of Nollywood actress, Laide Bakare, has debunked the fraud and theft story against him occasioned through a declaration by the EFCC and published recently in a national daily. The businessman, who is the CEO of Primavera Construction & Engineering Ltd, added that, contrary to EFCC's statement declaring him wanted, he is not on the run because he has not committed any offence to warrant running away from his fatherland. The businessman said that he was miffed by the EFCC declaration because he could not understand what the interest of EFCC was, as no court of law has indicted him for any offence and no warrant of arrest has ever been issued on him. Nollywood actress, Laide Bakare, has also said that she is standing by her husband on the matter, believing that the EFCC publication was meant to destroy his hard-earned reputation as a philanthropist who derives joy in helping people, adding that the story was also a calculated attempt to smear her own name as a celebrity. According to Mr. Orilowo, the EFCC and MTN were only out to blackmail him because the court case he instituted against EFCC, seeking an injunction to restrain the agency from arresting him or declaring him wanted, will be determine on the 28th of March 2014. Yet he was declared wanted on no basis many weeks before the hearing date. Explaining the issue further, Mr. Orilowo said that "there was this MTN Cooperative whose membership is of MTN workers. Their union came together with this idea of a project called 'Y'ello Estate' to be built at Okun Ajah. That is my home town and where I do most of my businesses. So, based on my popularity and as a philanthropist who commands respect in the area, my company, Primavera Engineering & Construction Limited, was approached by MTN to help buy five hectares of land, which we did. Later, they came to us again and said oh, there are more demands, get us five hectares more. We did. The subscribers now became much interested in the project because they were going to make it the best of such Estates in Lagos". "We had an agreement from the beginning because they trusted us to deliver. The agreement was for me to; one, buy the lands; two, to ensure that the lands acquired were validly documented, and three, to be the sole developer of the Estate". "But some powerful people at MTN then came in after the agreement with the aim to hijack it. They saw the project as a laudable one and they were shocked that I was the only man handling the project. They came with an excuse that many people were bidding for it and it should not be a one-man thing. But I have spent close to one billion naira on this project. The agreement was for me to collect from MTN 20 percent of the money for mobilization and then go ahead to complete it with my personal money. And I have spent a lot on it. You know how big a project like an Estate can be; talk of roads, bridges and other amenities". "So, since the MTN had decided to bring in another developer and my company has committed so much into executing the project, I asked that the money I have spent so far be refunded. But when they were not forthcoming, I took the MTN Cooperative to court seeking to retrieve my money. We got judgment from Hon. Justice Olateru-Olagbegi. We then had negotiations with MTN based on the court judgment. Under the terms of settlement, MTN was to pay us substantial sums of money". "But MTN still refused to pay us, so we commenced third-party involvement proceedings against MTN which resulted in the issuance of an order freezing the bank accounts of MTN. While we await action on our money, MTN went to EFCC to lodge criminal complaints against us, alleging theft of money without disclosing the court proceedings on the issue. I have received several awards but this is my second honorary doctorate degree. How come you don't add "Dr" to your name, instead of just Mrs. Alakija?It's all about my belief. I believe that an honorary doctorate or any honorary university degree does not really confer on me that title, since I did not study for it in university. So, I chose to leave that to those who actually went to university for such doctorate degrees. I'm filled with gladness and a lot of gratitude but I choose not to use it as a title. I don't think life is about titles. I believe that life is more about who God is and how awesome He is. It's not the title that makes you a person or makes you a man. It's your legacy that makes you what you are and what you have been able to achieve. Titles belong to God. You always talked about making a covenant with God. What is this covenant you made with God that made you famous?When I came to Christ, I began to appreciate the awesomeness of God. I saw His presence, power and might suddenly in all the things around me to the extent that I started to appreciate flowers, animals and how He created human beings and things and how we use those things. I began to ask questions and appreciate that awesome power of God so much that I began to search the scriptures. I began to grow in the Lord, I began to get closer to Him, I began to develop a relationship with Him, I was looking for God everywhere. I had applied for an oil license and we were facing so many challenges with the applications. We had applied for several blocks and it seemed we may not get the license. It got to a stage that I didn't know what God could do or couldn't do, but I knew He could do everything but it just seemed it wasn't coming through. It seemed that each time a minister of petroleum was changed, we needed to reapply and it seemed our application wasn't getting any headway. Sometimes our faith waned and at that point I just decided that rather than throwing in the towel, rather than giving up, it will be better to make a covenant with God, because God never fails when you make a covenant with Him. I noticed that in the Bible, so I decided to take that challenge. I made a covenant with Him that if He blesses me, I will work for Him all the days of my life and that is what He has done. He has been extremely faithful. He is the one that made a way for us, and it wasn't our doing at all. The story going round was that you got the oil block through the connection of a former president's wife. Is that true?God has told me I shouldn't fight for myself. He said He will fight for me. My God has always fought for me. I believe there are some who say that , those who have drawn their own conclusion to suit what they would rather hear than believe that there is a God that actually opens doors, that there is a God who actually favors one, that there is a God who does not come down but will use any means to honor his children, to uplift his children, to promote his children. When they begin to know the God that I have known, they will stop saying such things. I will continue to give glory to God for what He has done for my family and it is not about anyone or person because I believe that if that were so, then she would have given oil blocks to all the people that were sewing for her. I was not the only one sewing for her, I was not the closest person to her. There are many people who are closer, they didn't get oil blocks. I believe all this noise is all because I am a woman. There are other people who got oil blocs while they were in government who are not women and who are not being challenged. I don't know what all the noise is all about. Only God can promote people, regardless of your gender or age. So many people want to be like Mrs. Alakija. Could you give them advice or tell them the secret of your success? What makes you tick?The secret of my success as I have told you over and over is that I got close to God. I realize and appreciated His presence in this world. I chose to partner with Him and He has been faithful. I am a workaholic but the only reason I don't attribute the award of an oil block to hard work is because it's a combination of several things. You can work hard all the days of your life and not get anywhere with it. So, it's the grace of God and that is the most important part. I will continue to give him glory for it. Your foundation, Rose of Sharon, is almost six years old. Could you tell us your motivation for it and how it has been faring?We focus on alleviating the plight of widows and orphans, just as the scripture says. We do so through programs that give financial assistance and education opportunities to widows, their children and orphans. A journey that started with three widows on May 23rd 2008, has blossomed into a network of almost a thousand widows today. Since inception, the foundation has empowered 970 widows, 11 of whom are in the university. We've also awarded scholarships to 1, 366 widows' children and 72 orphans. The loans we give to widows are interest free and the scholarships have no conditions attached to them. We've also provided accommodation for residential and business purposes for 82 widows. Moreover, we have provided some free medical checkups and free legal services to our widows with the support of other agencies. Last December, we gathered them at the National Arts Theatre for a seminar. We employed the services of professionals to educate our widows on how to run their businesses. We engaged the services of Empretech Foundation whose Country Managing Director is Mrs Onari Duke,wife of former Cross River State governor and an HR consultancy firm to lecture them on how to make good use of their time and how to manage their funds and know when they are making a profit or a loss. What they need to do to increase their profit. We don't want to just give fish to our widows, we want to teach them how to fish. Some of them that we have empowered with money were confused and didn't know what business to do. What are the challenges in your efforts to better the lot of widows?Funding has always been a challenge. We've never had enough funds to be able to attend to the needs of all those who require assistance because their number is alarming. It's when you get involved with it that you realize the number of widows that exist in the country. Already, in Lagos State, we are overwhelmed by their numbers. They seem to know themselves and where to find each other. They are each other's friends. As a result of the empowerment we offer them , they go back and advertise Rose of Sharon Foundation to their friends. We always find that we are empowering more. We will need to hire more hands in terms of those of us that are going out for counseling and verification.There is this aura of humility around you. Does that have to do with your upbringing?Let me tell you the truth, if only you people will believe. If it is not for God, I won't be where I am today and that is why I cannot add a chip on my shoulder. I cannot make one strand of hair on my head. He is the one that brought me this far. If people learn to partner with God, enter a covenant with God and believe that He is the source of everything that we want to achieve in life, they will begin to see positive results in their lives. That is the reason I cannot afford to be arrogant because God hates arrogance. That is why it comes naturally to me to be humble. You are above 60 years. What's the secret of this your lovely shape?I can say that every year, if I sum up all the days that I exercise, they cannot be more than six weeks. It can't be the exercise. I eat anything and at anytime of the day, so I know it can't be dieting. I still go for massaging but not as often as I should, so I have drawn a conclusion in my heart that it can only be God's grace. I enjoy God's grace and when we pray, we have to believe this in our hearts. I constantly ask Him for strength in my inner being and He continues to give it to me. I can go on for hours working without looking back. My mother trained all her children to be able to work for several hours of the day and not even remembering to eat. It wasn't because she wanted to starve us but she brought us up in such a way that we just had to learn to work hard. I do all the wrong things as far as losing weight and looking good is concerned . | Boko Haram Bomb Police Station, Court & Bank in Jigawa! Posted: 10 Apr 2014 05:21 AM PDT  Bandits suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday bombed a police station, a bank and a Sharia Court, killing seven policemen and a civilian guard in Gwaram Sabuwa, Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State. Four other persons were also said to have been injured during the incident which occurred between 1am and 2am. The Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 1, Mr. Tambari Muhammed, confirmed this in Dutse just as news of another bloodshed by armed men in Niger State spread. Muhammed, who was quoted by the News Agency of Nigeria as putting the number of the attackers at 20, described the incident as unfortunate. He added that from the information made available to him, the bandits who arrived in the community in motorcycles and cars, used explosives to attack the police station, the bank and the court. Muhammed said that no arrest had been made but that more armed policemen had been deployed in the village. An online news portal Saharareporters, quoted residents as saying that the gunmen bombed the police station in Gwaram Sabuwa before shooting indiscriminately at villagers. It added that the residents said the gunmen "numbering over 20" operated and left unhindered. According to them, the gunmen threatened to come back if they continued to enrol their children in schools, accept polio vaccination and operate football viewing centres in the town. But as the news of the Jigawa attack spread, there were reports that gunmen invaded and killed two people in Shadna, Bosso LGA of Niger State. It was gathered that three other persons sustained injuries during the invasion which took place when the villagers were having their monthly traditional dance on Tuesday night. The injured persons were rushed to an undisclosed hospital while the dead were buried according to Islamic rites. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Richard Adamu Oguche, confirmed the report and urged the villagers to assist the police with information that could aid the arrest of the attackers. In Bauchi State, arsornists on Wednesday morning burnt down the All Progressives Congress secretariat on Gombe Road, Bauchi. It was learnt that the burnt secretariat was slated for the APC ward congress which was scheduled to commence by 8am. But the party still went ahead to conduct the congress in all the 20 LGAs in the state despite the fire. A member of the party, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that all the office equipment and other things inside the secretariat were looted by the hoodlums before setting it on fire. He also alleged that the arson was carried out by thugs loyal to one of the factions of the party in the state. The spokesman for the party in the state, Alhaji Bappah Tafida, said the fire was an act of "desperate politicians." He said, "I cannot precisely say who is responsible for this but I know that this is the handiwork of desperate politicians who are contesting and who think the party will not be just and fair to them." When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Haruna, said, "Information at our disposal indicates that unknown hoodlums at 2.00am burnt down part of the Bauchi LGA secretariat of the APC. "No life was lost during the fire incident and the value of the property destroyed is yet to be ascertained. We have commenced investigation." Meanwhile, leaders of southern Kaduna groups on Tuesday signed a six-page document to end about 14 years of hostility between the Hausa-Fulani and other ethnic groups in the southern part of the state. The reconciliation move was at the instance of the committee set up by the Inspector-general of Police, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, to resolve the clashes between herdsmen and the communities. The Chairman of the committee, Michael Zuokumor, and the state Commissioner for Police, Umar Shehu, were among those that witnessed the signing of the document. According to the document read by the National President of the Southern Kaduna People's Union, Dr. Ephraim Goje, the groups condemned what they described as the wanton destruction of lives and property in the state. They also declared a ceasefire to create an enabling environment for dialogue for the return of enduring peace and unity to the area. The document urged the state government to establish a peace and reconciliation commission and to complete the gazetting of all existing grazing reserves and livestock routes in the state. But there was a problem as a coalition of community development associations, civil society organisation and non-governmental organisations in Southern Kaduna, kicked against the peace deal with the Fulani. They noted that the Committee on Peace and Reconciliation was a mere charade. The Convener of the coalition, Zakari Sogfa, who led others to a press conference in Kaduna on Tuesday, added that the Southern Kaduna people were never at war with any ethnic group and therefore had no reason to be at any peace treaty. On Tuesday, the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, James Entwistle, began a tour of some states in the North-Central for a first hand report on the security situation in the zone. Entwistle was said to have met with the Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswan, and the management, staff and students of the Benue State University. During the meeting, he emphasised the need for inter-faith cooperation and tolerance among residents of the state. The envoy, who was also expected to meet with political, religious and community leaders in Nasarawa and Plateau states, stressed Washington's resolve to continue to partner Nigeria on "shared security." He stated that the US would lend its support to Nigeria's efforts in promoting peace and tranquility.
