| Lagos State Govt Bans Mini Skirts, Other Attires! Posted: 20 Feb 2014 10:44 AM PST  Governor Babatunde Fashola's administration has banned indecent dressing among female public servants. All forms of dresses that expose breasts, contours and other sensitive female body parts have been outlawed. The decision was taken as a result of worsening cases of indecent dressing among female public servants at the Lagos State Government Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria. P.M.NEWS has observed that all forms of skimpy dresses or mini skirts, tight trousers revealing the contours, sleeveless dresses and blouses and body clinging dresses are worn by some female public servants as they walk about the secretariat. Worried by this despicable act, the state government had to introduce new dress code among public servants, especially the female folk. A circular issued by the Head of Service, Mrs. Josephine Williams dated 7 February, 2014 has been sent to all government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs calling on all Directors of Finance and Administration, DFAs, to immediately move against indecent dressing in Alausa. The circular, with the reference number CIR/HOS/14/Vol.1/022, said similar directive was issued through the HOS in 2005 in a circular number 113 mandating public servants to dress properly and decently to the office and official functions portray the good image of the state government. The government warned that it would begin to take drastic and punitive measures against recalcitrant public servants who flout the directive. "It has however been observed with grave concern that some officers have not been complying with this directive. The noticeable non-compliance of some officers to this directive should henceforth stop as the extant civil service rules and regulation on proper and indecent dressing still subsist and will be applied accordingly on flouters," the HOS said. Williams listed what is contained in the new dress code for female civil servants, saying that skirts above the knee should not be worn by public servants, saying that dresses allowed are skirts which are of knee level, moderate slit and not body clinging skirts. According to the HOS, if female public servants must wear trousers, such trousers should neither be tight nor revealing and must be worn with a jacket. Also, gowns to be worn by female public servants must be of knee level, moderate slit, not sleeveless and not body clinging. Williams added that if native attires must be worn, they must be worn completely. The government also reeled out dress code for male public servants. In the dress code for men, administrative officers must wear suit and tie as professionals and other officers could wear wear suit and tie or French suit. Junior and clerical staff are allowed to wear shirts and trousers and French suit while complete native wear is allowed for all cadres of public servants. "As a matter of necessity, all Directors of Finance and Administration are hereby enjoined to ensure that officers within their purview adhere strictly to moderate and decent dressing," said the HOS. Already, the Directors of Finance and Administration of various ministries have been having urgent meeting with their staff to intimate them about the new dress code. | Posted: 20 Feb 2014 07:34 AM PST  A 14-year-old male at an internet café in Hunan, China reportedly stabbed his father to death following a dispute stemming from the boy's refusal to go to school. The incident occurred on February 18 at internet café in Xinhua county of Hunan province.  Internet cafés in China have been linked to several death and murder cases in the past couple of years, including the disturbing case of a 24-year-old Guangdong man who murdered his girlfriend then spent the entire night playing games at an internet café, and that of a Hunan teen who recently stabbed and robbed a woman before retreating to a café to post online that it 'went really well'. | Nigeria Nurses Begin Nationwide Strike On Monday! Posted: 20 Feb 2014 04:44 AM PST  The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) declared on Wednesday that all nurses and midwives at the local government, state and federal levels will commence "an indefinite and total strike" on Mondày, next week if the Federal Government failed to fully implement the judgment of the Industrial Arbitration Panel (IAP) which was given 34 years ago, and the subsequent judgments recently delivered by the National Industrial Court (NIC) and the Court of Appeal. However, considering the activities and killings by the Boko Haram sect in Borno State, the union exempted nurses and midwives in the state from the industrial action to avoid aggravating an bad security and social welfare situation in the state. Addressing a press conference at its national headquarters in Abuja, the president of the union, Abdulrafiu Adeniji, frowned at the continuous refusal of the Federal Ministry of Health to comply with the IAP awards and the NIC judgment, saying that the nurses had been patient for 34 years. According to the president, the decision to embark on the strike follows a seven-day ultimatum given to the Federal Government to comply with the final judgment of NIC after an appeal filed by the Ministry of Health was dismissed on Tuesday, January 2014 in the Court of Appeal, Abuja. "The continuous refusal of the Federal Ministry of Health to comply in full with the implementation of IAP Awards and subsequent NIC judgments for the past 34 years can no longer be tolerated by the professional association of Nigeria nurses and midwives," he declared. Adeniji added: "Since nurses have maintained patience for 34 years from May 1981 when the Industrial Arbitration Panel award was given, coupled with the fact that subsequent NIC judgments and even the appeal filed by the Federal Ministry of Health were all in favour of NANNM, a seven-day ultimatum with effect from Friday, 14 February, 2014 has been given to the Federal Ministry of Health to implement the judgments in full, failure of which the entire nurses and midwives in the three tiers of government will commence an indefinite and total strike by 12 midnight of Sunday, 23 February 2014." He explained that on 7 May, 1981, the tribunal of the IAP gave awards to the NANNM which bordered on the professionalism of nursing, autonomy of the nursing profession, the scheme of service for nurses and many other issues. Skales who was signed onto Banky W's EME record label in 2010 has parted ways with them. His contract with EME recently expired but the record label refused to renew it with him. According to a source, the label has spent so much on Skales, but are yet to see great returns. Though Skales is still with M.et.tal management, who manages some of the artistes under EME, he has got nothing to do with them legally.
