In a recent chat with TheNollywoodReporter Emelonye said: "Genevieve and Omotola are the two biggest actresses we have in Nollywood, they cannot afford to charge less than their status and that is where the problem comes in. Their charges are probably above what the industry can afford. Their charges are like half of the entire production budget so which producer can afford that?" "What they can do now as it is with other big stars all over the world, is that they should begin to fund their own productions and act in them, they can act whatever role will enhance their brand, they need to start a production company now, and push themselves because they need to remain relevant and must not be seen as jobless. If corporate bodies perceive them as jobless they won't want to do business with them, they might even price them cheap." [PHOTOS] Posted: 01 Feb 2014 07:04 AM PST  A teenager killed herself by deliberately walking onto a motorway after being dumped by her "controlling" boyfriend, an inquest heard. Lena Begum, 18, died of multiple serious after being hit by a van on the M65, in Lancashire in April last year. One of the dental student's friends told Burnley Coroner's Court she was "mentally obsessed" with Quzlam Ahmed, who she met in hospital, despite his "history of violence". Lena been treated for self-harming after carving his nickname, Kammy, into her arm. The troubled teen was struck while crossing the eastbound slip-road towards Gannow, at junction 10, at around 3.50am on April 10 last year. A post-mortem examination showed Lena, from Brierfield, in Lancashire, died "rapidly" from multiple serious injuries including fractures to her neck, skull, spine and ribs. East Lancashire's assistant coroner, Mark Williams, said she was known to police after being reported missing a number of times and had previously been placed in local authority care. She had started a relationship with Mr Ahmed after meeting him at a hospital placement in Bradford in October 2012. In January 2013 she was asked to leave the facility following breaches of rules including drinking and later the same month, she was treated for self-harming after Mr Ahmed said he no longer wanted to be her boyfriend. Giving evidence, Taslema Alom, who was with Lena the morning of her death, said: "I think she was mentally obsessed with him (Mr Ahmed). "She would go and meet him whenever he called. I kept telling her to stop seeing him. Before she met Kammy she was happy and fun to be with. "After she got with him, she changed. It was like he controlled her. I seen him punch her on one occasion, at the time of her 18th birthday." Miss Alom said Lena had previously mentioned taking her own life. "I didn't believe that she would do it," she said. The night before she died, Lena, who was studying as a dental nurse at Blackburn College, had been at a friend's house and visited a shisha bar before asking to be dropped off near the M65 at around 1.30am. Recalling the last time she saw her, another friend, Marcia Khan, said: "Everything was fine. She was normal. She turned around and she smiled." Police officers explained that between midnight and her death, 16 calls were made between Lena's phone and her mother's. She also had two conversations totalling 30 minutes with Mr Ahmed, who was in Blackburn at the time, and recorded a voicemail message. PC Richard Roberts, an accident investigator, said Lena would have been able to see the Mercedes Sprinter approaching her for "more than 10 seconds" and that there was "no obvious reason for pedestrians to attempt to cross the road there". Asked if street lighting on the M65 would have allowed the driver to have seen the teenager earlier, PC Roberts replied: "Potentially, yes." Absolving van driver John Trainor of any blame, he added: "By the time she was illuminated, he (Mr Trainor) would not have had time to slow down." He said that Mr Trainor, who was travelling at 59mph, would have been as close as 35 metres to Lena before he could see her. Concluding that Lena had taken her own life, Mr Williams said her relationship with Mr Ahmed 'does not appear to have been very good for her well-being." Yet this youngster, believed to be just four years old, is one of the latest 'cub jihadists' recruited for bloody battle in Syria. He can be seen firing rounds from an automatic assault rifle in a shocking video that has emerged from the war-torn country. Counter-terrorism officials say it is further evidence of how jihadists are grooming children to become fighters, as Al Qaeda factions strive to establish a Taliban-like Islamic state in Syria.  The disturbing footage was posted on YouTube and is believed to be that of a son of a jihadist from Albania who is one of thousands of foreigners fighting with Al Qaeda in Syria. He is so small that the barrel of the gun has to be supported by a section of road block so that he can cope with its weight. The child opens fire to shouts of Allahu Akbar – Arabic for 'God is Greater' – before an arm reaches down and retrieves the weapon. The delegation of President Bashar Assad refused to commit to return to UN negotiations in 10 days, as the opposition accused them of posturing and prolonging the bloodbath. More than 130,000 people have been killed in Syria since March 2011 and activists claim 1,900 died during the peace talks alone. Opposition chief Ahmad al-Jarba said Assad was pressed by his Russian backers to take part in the talks but could not engage toward finding a real solution because 'he knows that would be his end.'  He added: 'For us, [Assad's] family is finished from the memory of the Syrians, all that is left is blood, fire and terrorism. We will not accept for this man or anyone from his family to rule the country again.' Earlier, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem said: 'We are here to find a political solution. We were unable to achieve that.' UN mediator Lakhdar Brahimi said progress was 'very slow indeed'. He added: 'Nevertheless, during our discussions, I observed a little bit of common ground - perhaps more than the two sides realise or recognise.' The video emerged as French President Francois Hollande yesterday claimed as many as 700 Britons are among extremists fighting in the Syrian civil war. Speaking at a press conference after talks with David Cameron, the president said: 'We have young people who live in our respective countries who are being manipulated, and they are going off to the combat areas.  'Today we were exchanging figures – 600 to 700 young people are involved in each of our countries.' That is almost double the most recent estimate by experts and comes amid 'huge concern' from security chiefs that the young jihadists will target Britain when they return from fighting in Syria. The video of the four-year-old first emerged on January 21 on a YouTube channel operated by a jihadist who claimed to be based in northern Syria. It was entitled in Arabic: 'A message from one of the cubs of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.' The footage was removed after it was exposed by an American-based 'anti-jihad' activist who claimed it was evidence of child abuse. Copies of the video, however, remained in circulation on other online channels. Suspected British Al Qaeda fighters in Syria have been circulating other images showing children being trained to use deadly weapons in a jihad training camp. The pictures showed children aged between nine and 15 in full battle dress and wearing black ski masks bearing the distinctive logo of Al Qaeda. Many were seen holding Kalashnikov automatic assault rifles, tripod-mounted heavy machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. The video of the toddler emerged just days after the European Union's anti-terror coordinator warned that social media websites play a crucial role in recruiting foreign fighters to travel to Syria.  Top counter-terrorism officer Sir Peter Fahy said British fighters arriving from Syria posed a threat to the UK Gilles de Kerchove told the Home Affairs Select Committee that online messages, many posted by 'narcissistic youths posing with AK-47 rifles, had contributed to an acceleration in the number of Europeans, including Britons, travelling to Syria to fight – with many falling in with extremist groups. The issue – which has become a key focus for the security and intelligence services – was among topics discussed by Mr Hollande and Mr Cameron. Syria is proving a popular training ground for would-be jihadists. Sir Peter Fahy, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police – who leads the Association of Chief Police Officer's 'Prevent' strategy on counter-terrorism – told the BBC this week there was 'huge concern' that Britons arriving back after fighting in Syria posed a threat to the UK.  Scotland Yard has also said its biggest concern is that some could return as terrorists. Pete who is a holder of a national honour went on to fulfil his promise to his six children which include Lincs and Yul who are both actors. "I wanted to motivate them and keep them away from peer pressure. Parents must be able to motivate their children and set target for them. The minimum target for each of them was to graduate from higher institution; their reward upon graduation is a car. And where I come from, it is important to keep one's word; I bought the car for each of them. Yul who is over 30 is the last born and he got his too." Pete who has been married for over 45 years said his marriage is about the longest in the industry. "I married early and have remained married since then" he said. He dismissed the idea of a second wife as a titled chief, "what am I looking for a second wife for? I married a woman who gave me six children, what could I possibly be looking for in another woman that I didn't get from this woman? There is no reason for it" he answered to a question on why he didn't pick a second wife.  |
| SAD NEWS! Man jumps to his death from 4 storey building! [GRAPHIC PHOTOS] Posted: 01 Feb 2014 05:06 AM PST  Residents OF Adum in Kumasi, Ghana were on Thursday morning greeted with the terrifying news of a man jumping to his death from a tall building. The young man from Amoaman near Barekese jumped to his death from the third floor of a four-storey building at Adum. The victim, who was identified as Nana Osei aka Naasei by the wife of his elder brother, Vida Sarpong, was believed to be in his late 20s. He jumped from the balcony of the building which houses the Subin branch of the National Health Insurance office, a church and several stores at about 9:35am, an eyewitness, Benjamin Mireku told DAILY GUIDE at the scene. He disclosed that the victim hit one Dauda Alhassan, a refuse collector, on his way down before landing on the ground and crashing his head to death, forcing shocked shoppers to flee in panic. The paper gathered that the victim had earlier attended the funeral of one Isaac Osei at Asafo and appeared tipsy shortly before the incident. He died instantly after he jumped from the top floor of the building when people were busily doing their businesses in the boisterous area. The refuse collector sustained some injuries and was later taken to the hospital for treatment. The police crime scene investigators were at the scene to carry out preliminary investigations into the incident. They later carried away the body and deposited it at a morgue. Police spokesman Stg. Godwin Ahianyo described it as a tragic incident, indicating that the death could be very stressful for many people. According to him, police investigations would focus on how the man came to fall from the building to determine whether it was suicide, accident or murder. The refuse collector, Dauda Alhassan, told us he was co-operating with police investigators and his thoughts were with the dead man's family. It was learnt that the victim, an unemployed man, was the son of Kwame Kwakye aka Apigy, the Subin Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). What prompted the young man to end his life in that awkward manner could not be immediately ascertained. The deceased did not leave behind any note explaining why he decided to leave the world in that dreadful manner. This however gave room for speculation, with all sorts of theories being propounded. While some thought it was suicide, others attributed the incident to accident caused by drunkenness, since the deceased allegedly reeked of alcohol. Most people at the scene however linked his death to the harsh economic situation in the country. When we visited the scene, store keepers had abandoned their wares just to catch a glimpse of the deceased who was lying motionless in a pool of blood. The women among the thick crowd were seen shedding tears for the deceased. People in the area told the paper that they had not seen him in the neighbourhood before. "I was inside my store attending to a customer when suddenly I heard a deafening sound. I became terrified so I rushed outside only to find the man lying in a pool of blood," a store keeper at the area said. The store keeper, who Pleaded to remain anonymous, said he had not sighted the deceased in the area before, noting that he was shocked about the weird manner in which the deceased chose to end his life.  |

It is going to 33 years now. Once in a while, the devil tries to play the bad one, but God has always been there for us. We started out liking each other, not because of money, I plucked her away from her parents three years before we got married. I eloped with her. How? Why? I was a Christian and she came from a Muslim background and we knew her parents wouldn't support the relationship. Eloping seemed like the only way to do it. Since she wanted it, I decided to elope with her until we decided to get married on December 19, 1981. Did her parents eventually forgive you? They did. They had to. Love conquers all. There is nothing that love cannot conquer. The most important thing was that the lady herself was interested. If I had forced her, it might not come that easy. That was what drew me to her and I made up my mind that it had to be her out of all the others. Oh, there were others? Certainly, why wouldn't there be others? She was 24 and I was 28 when I married her. There would always be others at that age. But we thank God, there have been all kinds of temptations which is normal, but we have been able to surmount and overcome them. At that period you eloped, you didn't try to encourage her to go back to her house or you still encouraged her to stay with you? Why would I do that when they didn't even want to see her? And there were some people in her family who didn't think I was the right person for her. Her family was richer than mine but she was more interested in letting love prevail. That was what she wanted.  |

| Heartless: See Photo of Two Men Found With Human Skull (Viewer Discretion) Posted: 01 Feb 2014 02:04 AM PST  Two men in Ghana have been apprehended by the police after they were found in possession of a human skull. 34-year-old Simon Yovou, a fetish priest and Thomas Dodzie Nodzi, 38 were caught with the human part along the Akosombo-Tema Highway. According to reports By omgghana The two culprits, both residents of Afienya, were transporting the skull from Agortime Wudome in the Volta Region to Kumasi, when they were apprehended upon police intelligence. Superintendent Kwesi Ofori, Dodowa District Police Commander who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE explained that a combined team of the Highway Patrol and Dodowa District Police arrested Simon with the skull, while he was on board a commercial bus travelling from Agortime Kpotoe in the Volta Region to Accra. Upon reaching a section of the Akosombo-Tema Highway near Afienya, the bus was stopped by the police, and a snap check conducted on the passengers in the vehicle revealed the skull hidden in Simon's bag. The police later got valuable information from Simon, which led to the arrest of Thomas. The police interrogation revealed that the skull was to be delivered to a certain Dzabaku, a fetish priest at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. Superintendent Ofori further added that efforts by the Agortime Police and the Dodowa District Police to locate where the suspects got the skull from proved futile, as they failed to divulge any information to the police. The police is, therefore, appealing to the public to furnish the Service with information which could lead to the arrest of Dzabaku for prosecution.  |
