South African Government have announced the death of Nelson Mandela. South Africa president Jacob Zuma announced that the former president and human rights activist passed away peacefully in the company of his family in his home this evening. He was 95. There will never be another like him. Gone but not forgotten. RIP Nelson Mandela. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.  | ||

Huge Fire at Conoil filling station opposite NNPC headquarters, [PHOTOS +VIDEO] Posted: 05 Dec 2013 01:13 PM PST  Fire outbreak has been reported at Conoil Petrol Station opposite NNPC Towers Abuja from a discharging tanker at the Central Business District of FCT. Fire Service and Police are at the scene, traffic diversion is underway. The NNPC office is under lockdown due to the fire outbreak at the filling station opposite the towers. Heavy smoke can be seen from a far. Report says no one is trapped in surrounding buildings, fire should be off in minutes, according to the Nigeria Police. The station workers said no life was lost. | TOO BAD! Ex-Military Officer Shoots Son To Death In Akure! Posted: 05 Dec 2013 07:29 AM PST  Tragedy struck yesterday at Maronu Street in the Araromi area of Akure, the capital of Ondo State, as a former military officer, Desilva Adedipe, reportedly shot and killed his son, Ayo Adedipe. Family sources told SaharaReporters that Mr. Adedipe, who retired from service at the rank of major, shot his son at close range as the two argued over an electricity bill. A resident of the street told our correspondent that many residents fled the area for fear of their lives as well as possible arrest by security operatives. Our sources said that an argument broke out between the retired major and his son over payments for an electricity bill issued by the Power Holding Company of Nigerian (PHCN). One source said neighbors had tried to settle the matter between the two before the tragic incident. A source said the former military officer's son had verbally insulted his father. After a while, the ex-officer ran into his room and reemerged with a gun with which he shot his son in the chest at a close range. The young man died instantly. Several residents who spoke to SaharaReporters described the incident as shocking. They expressed disappointment in the officer, disclosing that he had ignored their pleas to show restraint in dealing with his son. A few of the residents, however, blamed the late Ayo, saying he had a reputation in the community for stubbornness. Popularly called "Osha," the late Ayo was described as a notorious street boy in the community who reportedly masterminded many nefarious activities in the area including burglarizing shops to steal goods. A source close to the family revealed that night guards on several occasion had come over to the family house to warn about the late youngster's late-night escapades. "The night guard of our street on many occasions had knocked on our doors telling us to warn Osha because they won't hesitate to hand him over to the police for associating with notorious street gangs and for his late walks," the source said. "Even his father knew him to be a bad boy," said another resident of the community. He added: "Osha didn't listen to advice from people. He would embarrass you or even send his gangs to trail you, beat or even molest you, if you talk about him." Olaide Adedipe, who claimed to be the wife of the deceased, said the shooting happened after Ayo's father discovered that his son had not been depositing the electricity payments handed over to him. Ms. Olaide said the former major found out that his son had been diverting the money but would show him fake electricity receipts as proof that the money had been paid. SaharaReporters learnt that after killing Ayo, his father hurriedly carried his body out of the compound. A source said that a commercial motorcyclist had raised an alarm after seeing the ex-military officer in a bush at Onigari, Shagari Village, Akure trying to dump his son's body. The retired officer reportedly took to his heels. Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Nigerian Police Force, Ondo State Command, Wole Ogodo, said that Ms. Olaide, who claimed to be the wife of the deceased, reported the tragic development to them. "The complainant rushed to the [police] station and said that the suspect, whom they used to call 'Old Soldier,' allegedly shot his own son during an argument over NEPA bill," said the police spokesman. Mr. Ogodo said police officers went in search of the alleged assailant, who remains elusive. The police investigators found the late Ayo's body. He disclosed that the remains of the deceased had been deposited at a morgue in Akure, adding that an autopsy would be carried out. The police spokesman also revealed that the case had been transferred to the state's Criminal Investigation Department and that the police were on the trail of the suspect.  | ||
| Posted: 05 Dec 2013 07:03 AM PST  The L.A County Coroners Office have revealed how Paul walker died. They say he was mortally wounded in the crash on Saturday November 30th, but was still alive. According to the report, he was burned alive. And the only way they could positively identify him was through dental records. This is such a horrible way to die. It's also been revealed that his friend was driving 90mph in a 15mph zone According to TMZ Paul did not die from the impact of the crash alone. He burned to death after the Porsche GT crashed into a tree and a pole and exploded into flames. The man who was driving the Porsche GT, Roger Rodas, died from multiple traumatic injuries suffered upon impact. Burning was not listed as a factor in his death. Sources in the coroner's office say both men were positively ID'd by using dental records. This is the first time Paul's longtime girlfriend 23-year-old Jasmine Pilchard- Gosnell has been photographed since he died in a car accident. Paul and Jasmine began dating in 2006. She broke down as she arrived at his home in Santa Barbara       | ||

| Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja Closed Temporarily! Posted: 05 Dec 2013 05:54 AM PST  The Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja has been temporarily closed by officials of the Nigerian Airspace Management Authority, NAMA, following the breakdown of a Saudi Arabian Boeing 747 cargo plane on the runway of the airport last night. The airport authorities say the plane, which veered after landing at the airport, has to be fixed before it can be evacuated from the runway. This closure has adversely affected all flights that are Abuja bound as well as those that were billed to travel to other parts of the country. Many Abuja bound passengers are now stranded. KCS reports that during his set, Kanye said 'I don't always say the right things at the right time. I'm better at saying the wrong things at the wrong time.' Kansas City Star wrote: "Kanye almost certainly could have filled the Sprint Center 5 years ago. Tuesday's poor attendance indicates how his scandalous love life, frequent impolite pronouncements and his gradual shift away from conventional hip-hop have alienated many of his fans.'His Yeezus tour is not doing well at all. SaharaReporters has learnt that President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan, today checked in at a hospital in Germany. Last night, Mr. Jonathan had abruptly flown out of Abuja ostensibly to attend a Summit on peace and security in Africa that is organized by the French government. Several ministers and service chiefs accompanied the president to the airport for the late night flight, but only a handful of officials traveled on the actual flight. A reliable source at the Presidency told SaharaReporters that, contrary to the impression created that the trip was exclusively for the French-sponsored security summit, Mr. Jonathan and his wife will undergo tests and receive treatment in the same German hospital where his wife spent several months last year. Our source added that the Nigerian president had been feeling unwell since returning from a recent trip to London where he was hospitalized for a serious stomach-related ailment. SaharaReporters had disclosed that the president fell seriously ill after a bout of bingeing on alcohol in celebration of his birthday. Our source revealed that plans were made for the president to receive medical attention in Germany after Mr. Jonathan suddenly fell ill last weekend in his home-state of Bayelsa during a visit there. The president's sudden illness almost led to his emergency evacuation to Germany, our Presidency source said. Mrs. Jonathan is also expected to receive follow-up medical treatment in the German hospital. Mr. Jonathan is due in Paris for the summit billed for December 6th and 7th. But our source stated that Mr. Jonathan's ability to make the trip will depend on the prognosis of his condition and the advice of the German doctors who will be treating him.
