When asked in a recent interview if she could settle for any man, whether rich or poor, actress and business woman Empress Njamah said she won't mess with no poor man. She doesn't roll like that!

"I'm not going to tell you what I want. But you get into an expensive shop to pick up something, because you can afford it, you see something you can afford then you buy it but if you cannot afford it, take a walk. The goods are for someone that can afford it, that's the best I can tell you. I will not settle for less my sister and that's the truth. People come and tell you all sort of lies and want to praise themselves and say "I can marry a poor man" the poor man nor know wetin him see, abeg! Ex-Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff Buys World most expensive Jet for N11.5b!!

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 08:10 AM PST

According to a report by Encomium magazine, former Borno State Governor, Senator Ali Modu Sherriff has toppled Bishop David Oyedepo as the owner of the largest fleet of private jets in Nigeria with the acquisition of a new jet valued at N11.5 billion.

Encomium reports
Former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has topped the chart of top 10 private jet owners in Nigeria with the acquisition of a brand new Gulfstream G650 model worth about $72 million (N11.5 billion). Encomium Weekly's check revealed that it's the most expensive private jet among wealthy Nigerians who are privileged to have these expensive toys. The latest acquisition brings to four planes in his fleet.
We gathered that the aircraft, which was registered in Dubai with special specifications, is the fourth in his fleet, as the former governor already has three old Dornier aircraft which he acquired from Aero Contractors at an estimated $3 million (N480 million).
According to our source, a Dornier aircraft is used for charter services as Sheriff recently obtained an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for his airline, Skybird. But a source said the Gulfstream was acquired for Sheriff's personal use.

An operator who is aware of the purchase described the aircraft as top of the range, adding that it was unlikely that the former governor would deploy it for commercial service.

A Nigerian pilot and chief executive officer of an airline that provides charter services, said by registering the aircraft overseas, Sheriff had denied Nigeria taxes and import duty on the aircraft.
He added that no Nigerian pilot or engineer would be employed to operate or work on the aircraft because with the foreign registration, only pilots and engineers licensed in the United Arab Emirates would be authorised to operate and service the aircraft.

"By registering the aircraft overseas, he has avoided tax and import duty, which he should pay to a country where he is a citizen and from which he made the money which he now spends on a foreign crew," he said.
The source also explained that Sheriff would also be paying overseas facility managers for the maintenance of the aircraft and would also pay charges to the company under which the aircraft was registered overseas.

The main price of the aircraft is $65 million but other charges could have raised it to $72 million, and according to US-based Forbes magazine, the Gulfstream G650 has an order book of 200 customers throughout the world.

"A $65 million price tag doesn't seem to detract from the fascination with this incredible airplane. While the rest of the business aviation industry is battling the depressed economy, there seems to be a buoyant market in the US and abroad for this ultra-high-priced, high-performance jet.
"And why not? With a top speed of 92 per cent of the speed of sound (arguably the fastest civilian jet in the world), room for a basketball team, 8,000-statute-mile range and some of the most sophisticated avionics rivalling nearly anything in the sky, this airplane is perfect for doing business on a global scale.

"Because of its superlatives, including price, however, it also appeals greatly to the 'if you've got it, flaunt it' crowd," Forbes said on its Brand Voice website.
Gulfstream described the aircraft as ultra-high-speed, ultra-long-range business jet and the gold standard in business aviation.

The model was introduced in 2008 with a capacity for eight passengers and a crew of four on nonstop legs of 7,000 nautical miles (12,964 km) for standard configuration.

"That means it will link Dubai with New York and London with Buenos Aires. With its powerful Rolls-Royce BR725 engines, the G650 will cover shorter distances at a speed of Mach 0.925. No traditional business jet will take you closer to the speed of sound," Gulfstream said on its website.
The Gulfstream G650 was formally launched as an internal company project in May 2005, and publicly unveiled on March 13, 2008. At the public announcement occasion, company executives stated the new model would become Gulfstream's largest, fastest and most expensive business jet on entry to the market.

The G650 has a cruise speed of Mach 0.85 to 0.90, with maximum speed of Mach 0.925 and a range of up to 7,000nmi (13,000 km). It can be equipped with a full kitchen and bar and may be equipped with a variety of entertainment features including satellite phones and wireless Internet.
The jet use two Rolls Royce BR725 engines, each producing a maximum thrust of 17,000 pounds-force (75.6 kN). Gulfstream states that with a weight of less than 100,000 pounds (45,360 kg), it is able to land at small airports avoiding the busy airports around the world.

To provide better usage of the internal volume, Gulfstream designers rejected the usual circular fuselage cross-section in favor of an oval which uses a flatter lower portion. The cabin is 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 m) wide and 6 feet 5 inches (1.96 m) high. The fuselage is of metal construction and composite construction is used for empennage, winglets, rear pressure bulkhead, engine cowlings, cabin floor structure and many fairings. The eight oval cabin windows on each side of the fuselage are 28 inches (71 cm) wide. The wing uses greater sweep (36 degrees) than previous Gulfstream aircraft (for example, the G550 wing has 27 degrees of sweep). It does not use leading-edge high-lift devices, and tracks for rear-mounted flaps are completely enclosed within the airfoil contour. The wing's leading edge is a continuously-changing curve, and the airfoil varies continuously from root to tip (the tip incorporates winglets).

The aircraft controls are completely fly-by-wire, with no mechanical control between pilot and flight surfaces. The surfaces are moved by dual hydraulic systems. More airliners today are using fly-by-wire, but only one other current business jet (the Dassault Falcon 7X) is so equipped.
The G650 shares its yokes and column with the G550 in an effort to receive a common type rating. The wing design was completed in 2006. A total of 1,400 hours of wind tunnel testing was completed by 2008. A pressure-test fuselage was built and tested, including an ultimate-pressure test of 18.37 psi.

The G650 taxied under its own power for the first time on September 26, 2009.  A public rollout ceremony was later held on September 29, 2009. The G650 had its maiden flight on November 25, 2009.

Flight testing for the maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925 was announced as completed on May 4, 2010.Gulfstream reported on August 26, 2010 that the G650 hit a maximum speed of Mach 0.995 during a dive as part of its 1,800-hour flight test programme. In April 2011, a G650 crashed during flight testing. The G650 test aircraft were grounded until May 28, 2011, when the remaining test aircraft were allowed to return to flight testing. On September 7, 2012, the G650 received its type certificate from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Its first delivery was to an American customer named Preston Henn on December 27, 2012.

The former governor, who is also the chairman of opposition All Progressives Congress, APC. Board of Trustees hides in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, because Boko Haram boys want his head. SAS is also wanted by the Borno Civilian JTF who recently burned his partner, Mala Othman's house and got him arrested.

Thus, findings by ENCOMIUM Weekly revealed that the new top 10 private jet owners in Nigeria are:

Record: This 'triptych' of Lucien Freud by Francis Bacon smashed the previous record

Record: This 'triptych' of Lucien Freud by Francis Bacon smashed the previous record
A work by the late British painter Francis Bacon set a new world record for the most expensive painting ever auctioned off after being sold for almost £90million(N23b)
His iconic 1969 triptych "Three Studies of Lucian Freud" led to a frenzy of telephone bids after the piece went on sale at Christie's in New York.
The late 20th Century artist's sale shattered the old record of £74.8million, which was set by Edvard Munch's "The Scream," sold at Sotheby's in May 2012.
The auction house have refused to confirm who bought the painting after their bid $142million - £89.2million - was successful.
However according to reports in the U.S. William Acquavella, a New York dealer, is said to have acted for an unidentified client, from one of Christie's skyboxes overlooking the auction.
The price for the painting, which depicts Freud, Bacon's friend and rival, perched on a wooden chair, was more than the £53million Christie's had estimated.
When the bidding finally stopped, after more than 10 minutes, the crowd in the salesroom burst into applause.
Two disappointed bidders could be seen leaving the room.
"I went to $101 million (£64million) but it hardly mattered," said Larry Gagosian, the Manhattan super-dealer who was trying to buy the painting on behalf of a client.
Another contender was Hong Gyu Shin, the director of New York's Shin Gallery, who said he was bidding for himself.
"I was expecting it to go for around $87 million (£55million)," Mr. Shin said.
The sale broke the previous record price for the work of a British artist, which was set by the sale of Bacon's own 1976 Triptych for £54 million in 2008 to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
Francis Outred, the head of post-war and contemporary art for Christie's Europe, had described the piece as a "true masterpiece that marks Bacon and Freud's relationship".
The pair had been friends and rivals since the mid-1940s. Irish-born Bacon died at 82 in 1992, while Freud died last year aged 88.
"The juxtaposition of radiant sunshine yellow contrasting with the brutal physicality and immediacy of the brushstrokes in this celebrated life-size triptych is what makes Bacon's art so remarkable," said Mr Outred.
The oil painting shows Freud sitting on a cane-bottomed wooden chair within a cage, on a curved mottled-brown surface with a solid orange background. Behind each figure is a headboard of a bed, originating in a set of photographs of Freud by John Deakin which Bacon used as a reference.
The painting was part of a record-breaking auction that grossed £434,438,721, the highest total for an auction sale in art market history, according to Christie's.
The sale of Post-War and Contemporary Art broke 10 auction records with three pieces sold for more than £31 million, 11 for over £12.5 million and 16 for over £6.2 million.

"Those dreadful pictures" - a profile of Francis Bacon

Former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once described Francis Bacon as "that man who paints those dreadful pictures".
However, despite being reviled by many his work was equally acclaimed for his bold, graphic and emotional paintings.
Bacon was born in Dublin in 1909 to parents of English heritage.
Despite his family's wealth, throughout his teenage years he drifted through life often turning to petty crime to make ends meet.
He began painting in his early 20s although his success was not immediate as he struggled to find a style that suited him.
However, in 1944, after being declared unfit for military service, he gained a reputation for being an observer of the darker aspects of humanity with his seminal piece Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion.
A year later he met Lucian Freud who, despite being 13 years younger, formed a friendship with Bacon.
Despite their closeness the pair were also bitter rivals famed for their post-war paintings.
On April 18, 1992, Bacon, who was openly gay, died of cardiac arrest that was a complication of his asthma.
His entire estate worth £11million was left to his close friend John Edwards, an illiterate former barman from the East End of London.

What do you think about the winning bid?

Popular Fuji Star, Pasuma Releases Statement On Alleged Murder Case!

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 05:30 AM PST

It has been said that, fuji musician, Pasuma Wonder while leaving a show on the 24th of October, 2013 in Idimu area of Lagos State, hit a 12-year old boy with his vehicle, before another vehicle ran over the little boy. The boy was immediately rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, the boy didn't survive.
Pasuma is saying he has nothing to do with the death of the boy, like a lot of news publications have said.

Here is the press statement from him below.

"On October 24th I had a show somewhere around idimu and as usual there were quite a lot of people there. After my performance I made for my car after settling the area boys with a large sum of money. Definitely, I had to zoom off because I didn't want them to mob me. I left the venue and drove straight to my house. Later that night, I heard someone was killed at the show. I was surprised because people don't fight at my shows.  It was later explained to me that the young man was killed by policemen. I tried to get details of the incident and that was when I gathered that one of the boys hung on to my car before I drove off.

He was said to have fallen off and started running after my car for reasons I don't know. I didn't even notice anyone was running after my car. Simultaneously, the policemen were driving fast behind me to get more money from me and in the process the boy was knocked down by their vehicle. When the policemen caught up with me, I gave them Money and they turned back. As at that time I was not even aware something had happened and I drove off. Later that night, I was informed that a boy was killed by the policemen and my manager Afolabi Oyekoya has been trying to get in touch with the deceased family. If those that reported the incident, did actually visit the police station or hospital the boy was taken to, they would have found out the truth. The question is ,Did my car hit the boy? Did my car have any contact with the boy ? Was I even aware of anything ?

The policemen were said to have taken the boy to the hospital or their station and had communicated with the family. It was reported that the policemen were part of my convoy but the truth is they were never part of my convoy. I didn't go to the show with any security except my bodyguards. I feel comfortable around area boys or whatsoever you choose to call them, I have no reason to move around with policemen. I didn't hit anyone with my car, neither did any of my convoy . Where is the story coming from. I didn't want to make any press statement but have been forced to because it is obvious some bloggers are trying to make a mess of my name. Do we now live in a country where people believe they can just write something about you and get away with it. Hmmm !

If I was truly involved in a murder case I would have been invited to the police station for questioning .  Have I been asked to write a report at the police station? Have I been arrested ? We are talking about someone's life here? My management AO21 Media have been making efforts to reach the family of the deceased not because we were involved in his death but because he was a fan of Pasuma wonder!

All You Need To Know About Peter Okoye And Lola Omotayo's November 17th wedding!!

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 05:07 AM PST

On Sunday, November 17, 2013, the most anticipated celebrity traditional wedding between Peter Okoye and Lola Omotayo, will hold at The Arc Events Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The nuptials is expected to be carnival-like, star-studded,  going by the array of guests already slated to honour the celebrated couple.
While telecommunications giant, Glo boss, Mike Adenuga Jnr. is going to chair the nuptials, gifted comedienne, Helen Paul is no longer going to co-host with fellow comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka.
This is because Helen will be performing at comedian AY's London show holding that same day.

According to the planning committee members:

"Invitations have been sent out, except for few friends who are not in the country at the moment. Apart from the afore-mentioned names, we're also expecting some other celebrities, which I don't want to mention."
Although, Peter's mum passed on a year ago, his father, Mr. Okoye will lead other siblings from their base in Ifite-Dunu, Akwa Village, Anambra State, to Lagos for marriage rites.
Peter, 33, is going to be the first celebrity son of Mr. Okoye to marry. His brother, Paul has already proposed to his babymama and long time girlfriend, Anita Itokwu-Isama, but yet to pick a date.
However, the woman that rocks the life of their elder brother, Jude, 38, is yet to be known, as he has not been linked romantically with any lady.
Meanwhile, there is massive demand for the wedding aso ebi and headgear, otherwise known as gele, that go for N40, 000.
As you read this, we can tell you authoritatively that the demand has soared, but only few were able to get. Those who didn't get the complete aso ebi have gone for the N5000 headgear.

An inside source said:
"There is no aso-ebi for men, except for family and close friends. However, the groom, Peter has given out free cap (blue) to friends, especially celebrities, who are excluded from the male aso-ebi. By now, they should have gotten theirs, with access card. The access card admits one person and should be brought to the venue."

Graphic Image: Armed Robber Beaten Severely & Set Ablaze After Caught Trying to Rob at Gunpoint!!

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 04:43 AM PST

The weapon and other items retrieved from the robber

A man believed to be in his late thirties was lynched at Ashaiman New Town yesterday after he attempted to rob an MTN sales point at gunpoint.
He was in the company of two others during the robbery operation but he was not lucky, as he was grabbed by an angry mob and subsequently beaten and set on fire.
The robber, who gave his name as Romeo, claimed to be a resident of Kasoa Barrier in the Central Region.
A Nigerian gang member who resides at Ashaiman Tulaku barrier, according to the deceased, gave information about the sales point.
ON FIRE! The suspected robber, Romeo
A security man, sales personnel and a customer were held hostage by the robbers at the sales point, which had recently experienced two separate robberies, with the robbers taking away thousands of Ghana Cedis.
The robbers demanded money and other valuables, while one waited in a blue-black Toyota Corolla saloon car in front of the sales point, after they had entered the place at about 8:30am under the pretext of transacting business.
Linda Asamoah, a sales attendant, was in the inner chamber of the sales point which had been divided into two with glass. This prevented the robbers from entering where the money was being kept.
Linda made a quick phone call to a friend nearby who promptly raised the alarm which attracted the crowd.
The driver of the get-away car, sensing danger, drove off, leaving his colleagues in the office block, upon hearing the alarm. However, one of the robbers managed to jump on top of the bonnet of the vehicle and fled with the driver.

While escaping, the driver fired shots, with a bullet hitting a glass door of another shop, Maranatha Photo and Barbering Salon, near the scene.
Luck however eluded Romeo, who was not able to catch up quickly with the vehicle, as he was pursued by the mob after he took to his heels from the sales point until he was apprehended.
Petrol Blaze
He was subjected to severe beatings with clubs, metals, golf bats and cement blocks among other implements before finally being set ablaze and left to burn in the middle of the street. Romeo, however, managed to roll over his body until the fire went out while bleeding profusely, mostly from his head.
The incident attracted hundreds of persons who thronged the scene to either unleash their anger on the suspect or catch a glimpse of the deceased after he was killed.
Linda Asamoah, the sales girl, narrated to DAILY GUIDE: "I was at the office when one robber came that he wanted to receive mobile money transfer and I told him the network was down so he should go and return later."
According to her, another armed robber came to join his colleague, pulled out a pistol and quickly demanded money and other items.
On his part, Romeo jumped over the counter after they had locked themselves in one of the glass apartments.
She further narrated: "It was when he was trying to open the glass door to where we kept the money that I called a friend who shouted 'thief, thief' before the area boys came around."
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Tetteh Yarkah confirmed the incident to us, and added that the police arrived to find the lifeless body of the suspected robber in a pool of blood.
According to him, the corpse had been conveyed to the Police Hospital morgue in Accra for possible identification, further investigations and autopsy.
He noted that upon preliminary investigations, the police retrieved a pistol and live ammunition in a bag which was abandoned on the street by the deceased while he was running away from the fuming mob.
Ashaiman Newtown and its environs are under frequent siege by armed robbers, putting the area youth under constant alert.

UNBELIEVABLE!! Akwa Ibom Governor, Akpabio, Supervises Beating of Opposition Lawmaker!!

Posted: 15 Nov 2013 04:07 AM PST

According to Premium Times!

The Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly has descended into a serious crisis after the state governor, Godswill Akpabio, personally supervised the beating of a lawmaker he suspected to be politically opposed to him and his loyalists, PREMIUM TIMES has learnt.
Mr. Akpabio, witnesses said, watched as his loyalists manhandled Onofiok Luke, chairman of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriations, who was accused of being rude to the governor after he rose in defense of another lawmaker accused of challenging a loyalist of the governor at a caucus meeting held two days earlier.
The governor, our sources said, beamed with smiles as members of his kitchen cabinet, comprising Nse Ntuen, chairman of Essien Udim local government and Emmanuel Ekon, a member representing Abak/Ika/Etim Ekpo federal constituency in the House of Representatives, assaulted Mr. Luke for being allegedly rude to the governor.
The incident happened November 2 at a funeral service in honour of the mother-in-law of a state lawmaker, Gabriel Tobi, held in Etim Ekpo local government area of the state.
Mr. Akpabio had at the event summoned some lawmakers and tongue-lashed them for doing nothing after Victor Udofia, a lawmaker representing Ikono/Ini state Constituency, allegedly attacked his loyalist, Aniekan Akpan, a member representing  Ukanafun state constituency, at a caucus meeting of the House.
Witnesses say as the governor fumed and abused Mr. Udofia, who was not at the event, an equally furious Mr. Luke rose in defence of his colleague, telling the governor to abandon his divide-and-rule tactics in the interest of the state.
The governor had directed the speaker of the Assembly, Sam Ikon, to immediately activate a  process that would lead to the suspension of Mr. Udofia from the House. But Mr. Luke reportedly shot back, saying Mr. Udofia committed no offence and that any move to punish him would be resisted.
Angered by Mr. Luke's audacity, Messrs Ekon and Ntuen descended on him, hitting and punching him repeatedly.
Mr. Akpabio simply looked on, our sources said.
The fight, we learnt, only ended after Paul Ekpo, the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, intervened.
The Akwa state House of Assembly is now divided along those from the governor's minority Annang ethnic group and those from the majority Ibibio ethnic group.
Some lawmakers accuse Mr. Akpabio of financially empowering legislators from his ethnic group and then using them to undermine the speaker and other lawmakers from Ibibioland.
Messrs Ntuen and Ekon, who attacked Mr. Luke are from Mr. Akpabio's Annang ethnic group while Mr. Luke is Ibibio.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt that after the incident, Mr. Akpabio directed his aides to embark on a tour of media establishments to compromise them and get them to drop stories on the accident.
Concerned that the incident might do further damage to his image, our sources within the administration said, the governor also hurriedly convened a press conference where he allegedly bribed reporters with N50,000 each not to report the incident.
Mr. Akpabio could not be reached to comment for this story.
But his spokesperson, who is also the state Commissioner for Information, Aniekan Umanah, confirmed there was a disagreement between Mr. Onofiok and the governor.
Mr. Umanah said while talking to the governor on the day in question, the lawmaker raised his voice against Mr. Akpabio.
"Other members asked him not to shout because he was talking to the governor," Mr. Umanah said. "Later, everything calmed down."
The commissioner added via a text message, "I was there in person. Nobody beat up Onofiok talk less of doing so before the governor."
Mr. Onofiok could not be reached for comments. But a source close to him said he had been under pressure from Governor Akpabio in the last few days to address the media to say he was never beaten by the governor's loyalists.
