Famous Rock legend dies at 71!! Posted: 28 Oct 2013 09:02 AM PDT United States singer and former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed has died at the age of 71. Known for tracks including Perfect Day and Walk on the Wild Side, Reed was considered one of the most influential singers and songwriters in rock. BBC says the Velvet Underground became renowned for their fusion of art and music and for collaborating with Andy Warhol. According to the Associated Press news agency, Reed's literary agent said he died of a "liver-related ailment." Andrew Wylie said the musician died at his home in Long Island, New York, on Sunday morning and had not been well "for a few months." Reed's former Velvet Underground bandmate John Cale wrote on his website: "The world has lost a fine songwriter and poet… I've lost my 'school-yard buddy." Other stars paying tribute included The Who, who tweeted: "RIP Lou Reed. Walk on the peaceful side." Iggy Pop said it was "devastating news." An admitted hard drinker and drug user for many years, Reed had a liver transplant this May after suffering liver failure. "I am a triumph of modern medicine," Reed posted on his website on June 1. The Velvet Underground never achieved commercial success during their 1960s existence, but their influence on music in later decades was widely recognised. TheNation

MUST READ Meet The Young, Rich rulers of Naija music!! Posted: 28 Oct 2013 07:16 AM PDT A new generation of artistes are rocking the entertainment scene and smiling to the bank, Punch reports A wind of change is currently blowing across the music industry in Nigeria. A new order championed by young, vibrant and talented artistes has emerged. Rather than curse the day that their children decided to embrace a career in music instead of education, the parents of these wave-making artistes are pleased with the success they have achieved. Today, the young artistes are giving the older and established stars a run for their money. These new-wave superstars now rub shoulders with the same artistes whom they once looked up to or chose as role models. Apart from competing with the 'old guards' in terms of income and expenditure, they are often nominated for major music awards in similar categories. Multinationals and telecommunications outfits, as well as other major events sponsors, have realised that the younger generation of music artistes represent the future of entertainment in Nigeria. With a good number of them aged between 20 and 25 years and a few others barely clocking 30, the sky seems to be the limit. Many of the emerging stars are not just rich; they flaunt their wealth at every given opportunity. It seems that the rewards for their modest efforts at making many Nigerians happy are without limit and they always come in the form of luxury mansions, sold-out concerts, huge fan base, state-of-the-art cars, bestselling albums, multi-million naira endorsement deals, chattered flights, big budget videos, custom-made outfits, 'bling bling' and generous airplay on terrestrial TV stations. Usually dressed in sagging pairs of trousers with expensive jewellery around their necks, many of them charge as much as N1.5m to mime to their songs for only 10 minutes at wedding parties or concerts. Many of them had to drop out of school to pursue a career in music. E-Punch presents six young music stars that have taken the music scene by storm. WizkidAt 23, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, a.k.a Wizkid, leads the pack. A string of endorsement deals, including one from MTN, has placed him on the list of big earning music artistes in Nigeria. At present, he is the highest paid Pepsi Ambassador in Africa and he lives in a N140m choice home in Lekki, Lagos. Wizkid's personal cars include a N14.6million Porsche Panamera, Rolls Royce, N10m BMW X6, N6million blue Volkswagen convertible and a Hyndai Sonata. The talented singer, songwriter and performer has emerged one of Nigeria's hottest music acts, seven years after he broke into the Nigerian music scene. The last child in a family of six, Wizkid began to sing at the age of 11. Like new wine, his performance matured with age. His talent has taken him to different parts of the world and seen him perform alongside world class artistes, such as Chris Brown, Akon, and Young Jeezy, and Kardinal Official. The young man's fortunes improved in 2012, a few months after he released his Superstar album. As expected, his rating soared in the same year and he was named the second most influential Nigerian artiste on Twitter, an enviable position which clearly reflected his growing popularity. Wizkid's position on the African music chart was further justified after he made it to the Channel O/Forbes List of Bankable African Artistes. Mentioned alongside big weights like Don Jazzy, Psquare, D'banj, he was placed ahead of Tuface Idibia, on the list. Early in the year, he threw a free appreciation party for his fans at the New African Shrine. He has the BET, MTV, Channel O, Ghana Music Awards to his credit. OlamideOlamide Adedeji, aka Badoo, has succeeded in filling the vacuum created by the death of rap sensation, Dagrin. The alternative rapper, who has redefined the word Razz as the new cool, has been dubbed the 'king of the streets. He recently signed a multimillion naira endorsement deal with the makers of Ciroc Ultra Premium vodka. For the self acclaimed 'Voice of the Street', who grew up in the Bariga area of Lagos, fame did not come cheap. He fell in love with rap music at a tender age and was always visiting renowned producer ID Cabasa's music studio in his school uniform. Today, Olamide hobnobs with some of the industry big names, especially D'banj. Pictures of both artistes surfaced online and their close relationship gave room to speculation that he had been signed on to the seld-styled Koko Master's record label. The rapper's hit songs comprise Jale, Street Love, Jesu O kola, Durosoke, Stupid Love, First of All and Ilefo Illuminati. His forthcoming album titled 'Baddest Guy Ever Liveth' will be released in October. Today, the 24-year-old star acquired a brand new 2013 Range Rover Sport. He also topped the winners list at the 2013 Nigerian Entertainments Awards in New York, US, with three awards. Ice PrinceTwenty-six-year-old Ice Prince lives like a true superstar. A proud owner of a 2010 model of Bentley GT, a Range Rover SUV, among many others, the Chocolate City Records 'golden boy' is also a BET Awards winner. Since his first single 'Oleku' was released, he has witnessed a meteoric rise to the top. He gained international recognition after beating 2face Idibia to the Best International Act Award at the BET Awards. He recently relocated from his apartment in Palm Groove Estate, Lagos to a bigger apartment in the Ogudu area, after completing a mansion in his hometown, Jos. The buzz around him got louder after he appeared in Yvonne Nelson's 'House of Gold' alongside Ghanaian actor, Majid Michael. Dammy KraneAt 19, this 2face Idibia protégé is the youngest of the pack. He hit the limelight after signing on 2face's Hypertek Records in 2012. He started singing when he was eight years-old in the toddlers' choir in church. By the time he clocked 11, he was already a back-up singer for other artistes. His mum, who is currently based in the US, manages a number of Fuji artistes. Long before he put out an official single, music video, or inked a record deal, he had over 4,000 followers on twitter. With his hit singles, My Dear and Ligali, the artiste known for his melodic voice, engaging lyrics and exciting genre of alternative music has collaborated with the biggest names in the industry. Burna Boy Burna Boy made newspaper headlines after reports emerged that he sold the marketing rights to his debut album, 'Leaving an impact for eternity' for N10m to popular Alaba music and movie marketer, Uba Pacific. The album is also said to have made a record sale of 40,000 units on the day of its release. The singer has the backing of his grandfather, Benson Idonije, who was the manager of the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Kuti. Burna Boy officially broke into the music industry in December 2010 when he moved back to Nigeria from London and has remained a household name in Port-Harcourt. But, it wasn't until June, 2012, when he made a cross-over to the Lagos music scene with his mid-tempo Summer Jam, Like to Party. He is a Globacom Ambassador. DavidoAt 20, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, is one of the most popular young artistes in Nigeria. The singer drew the attention of millions of music fans when he introduced himself as Omo baba olowo in his hit song titled Dami duro. Translated from Yoruba to English language, it means 'son of a rich man'. Davido, whose father, Dr. Deji Adeleke, is the chairman of Keplo-Pacific Energy Pacific, a company that is involved in banking, steel, power and energy, found his way to the top as if with the snap of a finger. The youngster, who is not afraid to boast about his father's wealth, always causes a stir on Twitter with his controversial tweets. So far, he has won some international awards and performed at various shows within and outside the country. He is also the face of MTN Pulse. Davido's personal collection of exotic cars comprise a silver 2012 Honda Accord, a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, which he won for being 'Next Rated' at the 2012 Headies, a N12m 2012 Audi Q7, N17m Chevrolet Camaro and a N21m Mercedes Benz G55 AMG, his fifth car since he shot to fame last year.
MUST READ!! ‘I begged to sell CDs in salons to survive’ [Banky W's Grass To Grace Story] Posted: 28 Oct 2013 07:01 AM PDT Many see the glamour but are ignorant of the hard work and pains that preceded the fame of Nigeria's rhythm and blues, R&B, superstar, Banky W. From an undergraduate begging for audience at salons in the United States, US, where his musical career started, 32-year-old Banky has built a musical empire that has produced internationally acclaimed artistes like Skales and Wizkid. Christened Olubankole Wellington, the Empire Mates Entertainment –EME- boss was born in the US to Nigerian parents who later relocated to Nigeria when he was five. It was after studying at the Home Science Association Secondary School, Lagos that he moved to New York to study industrial engineering on scholarship. With several albums to his credit, the manifold award-winner shares his story. Starting smallHis appearance bellies his personality and generally gives the illusion of a young man with a history devoid of sweat. But no, Banky did not only pay his due but also mastered certain principles which he wouldn't forget in haste."One of such is to think big but start small", he said. "Everybody knows me to be the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of EME, but what people do not know is that EME started when I was in my third year in university in New York. You see, we all dream dreams, but it is important to think very big and start where you are because God never gives you everything but gives you enough to start. At that time, I knew I wanted to do music, but of course I understood nobody starts by selling a million CDs or the big screen!", Banky stated. Menial jobs Indeed his tale solidifies his emphasis on little beginning because to achieve his dream of becoming a music superstar, Banky had to take up to three jobs while also in university! He said: "I worked in fast foods outlets, clothing stores and as a knife salesman, selling knives from door to door. That way, I gathered money to pay for studio recording time. I was recording with a close friend at that time. Begging at saloons "After making that music, we printed a thousand CDs though we didn't have any fan. I had one battered car that broke down virtually everywhere, so, we would print black and white posters, stick them on the sides of the car, sell from the car's trunk and drive to salons to do marketing. We would walk to the owners of the salons, greet politely, and ask them to let us entertain their customers. Sometimes, some would kick us out and sometimes some would say yes. If told yes, after singing for a minute or two, we would sell our CDs to the customers! That was the beginning! "A lot of people see you on stage and see the success but do not know what you had to go through! I never had one really big break; it was always two steps forward and a couple backwards. But I just decided that I was going to make music work for me. That was why I moved on to a new salon each time any salon rejected me! I just kept going because I believe failure is when you give up. Albert Einstein said he tried a hundred times to make the light bulb. When he was asked what kept him going during the 99 times, he said: 'I didn't consider those 99 times as failure; rather, I considered them 99 ways that it didn't work!' We went about selling CDs and, on the days we couldn't sell much, we would sit down and be broke together. I remember my friend was a member of a church that usually served food after service. So, on the days we didn't sell CDs and were too broke to buy food, we would attend service in that church so we could pack rice and store in the fridge. Work, school, music"At a point, being a student of industrial engineering, I was working for an engineering company and was recording as well. I would go to work from 7am till about 2pm and then go to school till about 8pm, and then drive two and a half hours to New York City where the studio that would let us record for less was, and record until about 2am. I would then drive two and a half hours back home to be back at work at 7am the following day. One day, I was driving home from work and was so tired that I fell asleep while on a bridge. I would have driven off from the top of the bridge to God knows where, if not for an on-going construction work. God really saved me!"After a while, Banky's hard work began to pay off and, even while in school, he began winning awards, beginning with the 'Albany Idol' competition. Other international awards soon followed. Returning to NigeriaIn 2008 when he decided to move to his home country Nigeria after the completion of one of his albums, Mr Capable, Banky was consistently told his genre of music 'would never appeal to Nigerians and therefore wouldn't 'sell'. As he turned down pressure mounted on him and his manager to change their genre of music, Banky strongly held on to another long-standing principle which had taught him to stand out by being unique rather than trying to imitate anyone's skill. He therefore insisted on sticking to R&B, and this paid-off as he soon became a household name in the Nigerian entertainment industry!LessonsHe advised: "You cannot say enough about the grace of God and I therefore do not want to claim any form of glory. Falling down is inevitable but getting back up is optional! Frankly, you can't appreciate sunshine if you've never been through a heavy rain. Yes, life is tough, but what do you do in those tough moments? Do you learn the lesson, stand up again, consider yourself stronger and keep going? Or do you sit down and feel sorry for yourself? The graveyard, they say, is the richest place in the world because therein lies so many who died with their dreams. So, my advice is, do not give up! If Banky can be where he is today, you can be where you want to be if you put to mind to it."Vanguard
Thousands of Fans Mobbed Wizkid On His Father's Birthday!! Posted: 28 Oct 2013 06:37 AM PDT Young musical sensation, Ayo Balogun, alias Wizkid, is any parent's delight. Even his father, Ibrahim Balogun, is awed by his superstar son, at least his 70th birthday celebration proved that. At the event, thousands of fans mobbed his superstar son and prevented him from spending time with his father. It is no surprise then that he would be one of those calling for the release of Wizkid's album. Wizkid shared this information on his twitter page when he wrote, 'My dad just called, asking why my album is not out yet. Lol! Bless him.' Obviously, the senior Balogun has converted from being a father to a fan. Punch

"I'm On Top Of The World" - D'banj Brags!! Posted: 28 Oct 2013 05:55 AM PDT Dapo Oyebanji (popularly known as D'banj) has taken his music beyond the shores of Africa where he has become a reckoning force within his 10 years in the industry. In this interview with TRIBUNE, the entertainer shares his dream for music and how he wants to celebrate his 10 years as an artiste. How do you feel headlining the 2013 Hennessey Artistry?A lot of things have happened in the last two years, and next year, 2014 will be the 10th year of my first official song, Tongolo. I did the song in 2004. So, next, year it's going to be D'banj's 10th year on stage. For me to have been a decade in the industry means a lot. I have been watching what Hennessey has been doing with the entertainment industry and I can say I was humbled when they called me. I won't be the first artiste they have used. They have been doing Hennessey Artistry for the past four years now. They have been doing it every year where they pick two or three artistes together to do a song, shoot a video and then they showcase what they have in a way to reach out to their core fans and customers. When they called me for this year, everybody knows that when it comes to D'banj, I enjoy what I do and put all my heart inside and dive into it. I told them this year would be different; that I would do it more like a lifestyle. I will do it the way it should be done, and I think that's what we've been doing since we started. And when a lot of my fans see me now, they say they now drink Hennessy just because of me. They even said they didn't know of the Hennessy Artistry before; so this one is more pronounced and I tell them it's by God's grace. I feel very honoured. A lot of people love it; maybe they will even use me for next year again. Who knows? You travelled to France where Hennessey is made. Has that in any way changed your perception of the brand?Going there, for me – and I say this with all humility on behalf of everybody and myself – a lot of Nigerians and our friends that were here don't know the difference between cognac and brandy. Hennessey is not a brandy but cognac. My going to France was an experience, as I found out that the Hennessey we drink is made from grape. It feels real in me because nobody would ever believe it's made from a fruit like grape. I was expecting a mixture of a substance but I was showed the preview of how it's made and how it has been maintained. I took pictures of some barrels that have the Hennessey content of 1901. It's a life cell. I pray that God should let me build my brand to that stage like Hennessey. The drink is the name of a man called Richard Hennessey. He was the one who discovered the place and established himself there. Today, he is widely known all over the world, because everywhere in the word they drink Hennessey. I too would also like to do a drink that can be called Bangali drink or something in the future. Hennessey has really opened my eyes and, like the bible says, that 'a man that's diligent with what God has blessed him with would sit before king and not men'. It's not as if they are doing anything extraordinary, but they keep the simple tradition that has been set from the onset, and till date, nothing has changed in the process and only five or six families were allowed to produce Hennessey. I was also allowed to produce my own Hennessey, starting from the grape, to the beam, to the mixing and I did my own drink. I was asked when I would want to start and I said in 10 years time from now. You know I'm 10 years in the industry now and in another 10 years, we can now sit and open it.You've been 10 years in the industry. Did you ever think you would come this far?Oh yes, my career is just 10 years, but with the success I feel like three to four decades now. We are all doing the best we can do, but I believe with my 10 years as a musician, I have the biggest song in Africa right now and the best song of all time and most viewed videos of all time. I would just say that I'm humbled and we are getting ready for the world. With Oliver Twist, have you achieved all you want as a musician? I can never stop doing Oliver Twist; that is why I'm 'Oliver Twist'. I'm just starting and I can't be satisfied. It was the only song that ever got to the top ten chart in UK, Europe and other top places. I believe that Fela's song only played in Europe but officially, we have accomplished a lot with Oliver Twist. So I want to continue with that momentum. I want two or three singles on the top chart and I want a video that would top the chart. I want to release an album that would compete with the albums on the international market and I will not rest until they see all of us as one; so they will not see us as Nigerian artistes or African musicians. I want them to hear a song around the world and identify that the song is from Nigeria, and that the singer is an international artiste. Nobody ever asks Jennifer Lopez where she comes from; everybody knows she is from America. Nobody ever asks Shakira where she comes from; nobody asks Wyclef if he was from Haiti. Until that is done in my own industry, I don't think I will be satisfied. Like Kanye West always says that people have forgotten about racism; they are now on classism of colours, and I thank God because God is changing everything finally. Starting from Tongolo to your latest song, Finally, how has it been? I am very grateful to God. I'm not perfect but I'm happy and I'm satisfied to an extent that I always see myself as a person. Just before I did Tongolo, I had to force myself and everybody around me to believe in me. Don Jazzy never believed in me in the first place; I had to force him to believe in me. It's not that I'm perfect or different from what I saw in Wande Cole in 2007 in UNILAG. I was about to go to a show, he sang for me and I told Don Jazzy we must sign him. But Don Jazzy asked me why. We signed him and everybody that was signed on Mo'Hits Records was brought in by me. But no one ever brought me into any record label; I started from the bottom. I started from nothing, then I was the only one who would play the mouth organ because we already had a singer here and there. Then we had singers and rappers, and when I had the mouth organ, I played it with passion and today, I'm on top of the world. So, if you ask me in a short time from Tongolo till now how life has treated me, I would say life has treated me very well and I'm on top of the world. As big as your name is now, will you think of doing a movie story about yourself? I would start by saying that I have never called myself a musician. I am an entertainer. Likewise some of my friends say if I carry a microphone, I can be a good stand-up comedian. But if you look at my videos, you will notice I spend a lot of money and time on the making of my music video. If you check the song Top of the World, you will see what I mean. It's not ordinary. Every other video is like a movie, starting from Ogbona-Felifeli and Fall in Love where I had to go far to bring Genevieve in to make it a real movie. So, nobody should come and ask me if D'banj is still going into acting because they should already know that I'm an actor. By the time I'm getting into the movie industry, I believe it is going to be a replica of the same way. Who knows if in my first movie I'll act like 50 Cent in his movie titled Get Rich or Die Trying, or maybe I'm going to do I'm D'banj in 2014, which is my 10th year on the stage – which I'm sure is not going to be a bad idea, or even with Genevieve. The Fall in Love video still gets tongues wagging. Who really is Genevieve to you? She is a friend of mine and she is also a very strong part of one of my most successful songs titled Fall in Love, and there is no way you are going to talk about Genevieve – even if you Google me, you will definitely find Genevieve attached to your search result. Would you like to have her as your woman, and not just a friend? Yes, I believe she is great and I don't know what could happen to us in the future. I met her as a friend and I believe that anybody that has her as a wife, just like the Bible says that anybody that finds a woman has found himself a great treasure in life. Do you miss your friend, Don Jazzy? If I say anywhere that I don't miss him, then I'm lying, because I'll be 10 years old on stage by next year, and I spent eight and a half of those 10 years with him. I'm just married to him in a way that I miss everything. I miss the family, I miss his movement, I miss his jokes and argument in the studio and I miss him a lot. We can always do music with Don Jazzy. Now the song Top of the World was produced by a Grammy award-winning producer, while the song Finally and Don't Tell Me Nonsense was produced by my producer, and Oliver Twist was produced by Don Jazzy; so why won't I want Don Jazzy on my 10th anniversary album? Tell us about your song Finally For me, Finally is not just music; it's like our story. I see us living in a jungle, where we are coming from as in Africa; where we are being ruled, and then now we are the ones that they want to look out for in the entertainment sector – not only in the oil and gas or the other sectors of the economy.
SAD NEWS!! Nollywood Actor Ray Okeugo Dies At 33!!! Posted: 28 Oct 2013 05:39 AM PDT Ray Daniels Okeugo 1980 – 2013 It is with deep regret that we announce the passing on of our friend, brother and member Ray Daniels Okeugo. This incident took place on the evening of Friday the 25th of October 2013, in Lagos, Nigeria. Until the mentioned day, he was a founding member of Invisible Borders Trans-African Photographers Organisation, and has been behind every success of the Organisation's activities since its inception. As a photographer and an actor in the Nollywood film industry, he will be remembered for his unquenchable energy. He exudes the demeanour of "the last man standing", and this goes a long way to highlight our shock at his sudden exit from this world, after just a brief illness. Everyone who knew him can attest to the fact that he carried within him an undying urge towards selflessness. He made himself readily available and good to go no matter the situation. We will miss him everyday henceforth, and nothing will ever be the same with his indefinite absence. But in all, we will hold on to the good memories we shared with him. We may have lost him, but he has not lost his place in us – his legacy will be upheld by this organisation which benefited immensely from his nature always to give.RIP Ray!!

UNBELIEVABLE!! 17-year-old girl Commits Suicide After Parent Ban Her From Facebook!! Posted: 28 Oct 2013 04:26 AM PDT Aishwarya S. Dahiwal, a second-year college student from Parbhani in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, had asked her parents' consent to log on to Facebook Wednesday night, police investigating the case said. An argument ensued during which Ms. Dahiwal was reproached by her parents for "paying less attention to her studies," using social networking sites and making long phone calls to friends, G.H. Lemgude, the investigating police officer in Parbhani told India Real Time Friday. Her body was found on Thursday morning. She had killed herself by hanging, the police said. Ms. Dahiwal's death has once again put the spotlight on the teenage suicide trend in Maharashtra, one of India's most developed states. A total of 16,112 people killed themselves in the state last year, placing it second in the list of Indian states with the highest suicide rate, according to the National Crime Records Bureau. Tamil Nadu was the state with the most, there were 16,927 suicides there in 2012, followed by West Bengal with 14,957 and Karnataka where 12,753 took their own lives. According to information available on the NCRB website, family problems were thought to be the single largest factor driving people to end their lives. In a note recovered from Ms. Dahiwal's room after her death, according to police, the teenager wrote that her parents' decision not to allow her to access Facebook had driven her to decide to take her own life. Her father Sunil Dahiwal told India Real Time Friday: "We still can't believe it. We are in deep shock." "We just wanted her to focus on her studies. We never thought she would ever take such a harsh step," Mr. Dahiwal added. A case of accidental death has been registered and investigation is underway, the police said. Johnson Thomas, director of Aasra, a Mumbai-based helpline that works towards prevention of suicides, said the problems presently faced by young people range from peer and academic pressure to lack of communication with parents and broken relationships. In June, a 25-year-old Bollywood actor Jiah Khan committed suicide after an alleged failed relationship. In a separate incident, a teenager ended her life last month in Mumbai, she was experiencing depression after her mother's death, local reports said. "The fact that majority of suicides are by those between 15 and 35 years imposes a huge social, emotional and economic burden on society," Mr. Johnson said. He also blamed the breakdown of India's traditional family system for people taking their own lives. In big cities like Mumbai – where it is common for both parents to work – children tend to become isolated and spend too much time chatting with friends on cellphone and using social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and others, according to Mr. Johnson. A survey by Tata Consultancy Services532540.BY -0.05% in June showed nearly 92% India's high school students prefer to go on Facebook than make phone calls to communicate. Mr. Johnson argues there's a simple solution. "Parents should take out more time to understand the needs of their children, communicate better a build a strong relationship with them. This will greatly alleviate the problem." Indiarealtime
HURRAY!! World Tallest Man Weds! See Pictures!! Posted: 28 Oct 2013 04:12 AM PDT It is a good thing that opposites attract, otherwise Sultan Kosen might've had a hard time finding a woman of similar proportions to share his life with. The world's tallest man is 2.51 metres high, which is a good two feet and seven inches taller than his new bride, Merve Dibo. The Turkish farmer was married in a ceremony at the weekend, after previously almost given up hope he'd ever find love. He's one of only 10 people in recorded history to top the eight feet mark. And he also holds the current Guinness World Record for the largest feet and hands on the planet with a 27.5cm hands, 36.5 cm feet - a massive size 28. Kosen's gigantic wedding suit needed to be custom made, obviously. And his celebrity status in his home country meant the nuptials were a who's who of Turkey. "Now I will have my own family and private life," he said. "How unfortunate I could not find a suitable girl of my own size. My wife is over 1.75 meters tall, but I believe I've found the person for me." Kosen suffers from a rare disorder called pituitary gigantism, which causes his body to continually produce the growth hormone. His condition is believed to have been caused by a tumour in the pituitary gland. Doctors thought they had cured him in 2008 when they removed the tumour but he continued to grow by half an inch (1.27cm) a year. Now medics say he has finally stopped growing. |
