Born Without Skull: US Doctors Create Fresh Head For Nigerian Child - See PHOTO

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 02:20 PM PDT

With much expectation, the world is waiting to see OkikiJesu Olawuyi grab a fitting place in the Guinness Book of World Records. Many across the world want to see this happen. And what that means is that a Nigerian child is well on her way to making history once she scales the mountain of surgeries standing in her path of life.
OkikiJesu Olawuyi was born without a skull but not without a will to live. Bones from her hands are being obtained to construct a skull bone to help her live. Amazingly, she is winning this battle for her life at John Hopkins University in far away United States of America. There, the best hands the world can assemble are with her every passing hour fighting a medical war to give life to a miracle child who has announced to the entire human community that she has something different to offer. First grade surgeons – irrespective of colour, race and tongue are tasking their expertise to see that this wonder of the 21st century lives to tell her story and reports say that they are doing a great job to save her.

OkikiJesu is getting moral and material support from across the world to help her live. An avalanche of support is coming her way. Her parents are carrying the burden of pain and anguish with
stoic patience. They are fighting to remedy a medical case they cannot tell how it all started. The child needs a lot more financial assistance to pull through, her father, Mr. Caleb Olawuyi, says. He disclosed that she needed an additional $500,000 to undergo the final operation that would enable her live a normal life. Experts say that is possible and they can achieve that. While appealing for generous support from government, corporate organizations and private individuals to help the baby live, Mr. Olawuyi, has equally urged government to set up funds to assist babies afflicted with critical ailments. Speaking straight from the heart, he noted that one needed to be close to a child in pains to know how it feels.

Since news of the child's medical condition was disclosed, the world has been aghast. She was born on May 11, 2010 with a rare birth deformity which means over 50 per cent of her skull doesn't exist. The world has not seen anything of this stuff. In recorded history, Sunday Sun gathered that this medical condition has never been reported anywhere. The child's condition is one that appears to have turned medicine on its head, having thrown up tremendous professional challenge to the human race. Now, the very best the world has known are fighting a crunchy battle to overcome this, leaving many – particularly those with hearts of stone- wondering if there is nothing they can offer to help.

Now from the home sector, help is coming for three-year-old Okiki and her parents. Since the condition of the baby became public knowledge, a non profit organization had stepped in to assist. Global Initiative for Peace, Love and Care (GIPLC) has been doing all it can to give life to the child whose medical condition is not traceable to her parents. With the assistance of the organization's Coordinator and Project Manager, Mr. Nuhu Kwajafa, the child and her parents were on May 4, 2013, flown to the United States. There, she is currently undergoing skull reconstruction surgery at the John Hopkins University Medical Centre.

Now, the child's and her father's cry for help comes ringing through the airways asking Nigerians to help her live. Here is a child the world is interested in. The non-profit organization is doing its best at that level to help her survive. Sunday Sun gathered that while the world was a short while away from screaming uhuru at the wonderful breakthrough, an unforeseen complication arose after over 14 hours of surgery. This followed inconsistencies in her medical history. Besides, her case marked a maiden attempt in paediatric neurosurgery. This, therefore, led to a further accumulation of medical bills totaling over US$500,000. This bill is spiraling every passing day OkikiJesu and her parents spend at the Johns Hopkins facility.

Specialists in the USA have identified the rare birth deformity which OkikiJesu is suffering, as Congenital Cranial Deficiency. Before now, she had been to several hospitals but not cured, but luck flashed on her pathway when GIPLC, which is based in Abuja took up her case. Sunday Sun learnt that since then, the organization has recorded significant success in efforts to get medical care for her. Within just a week, it raised about $234,000, an equivalent of N37 million through kind gestures from individuals and groups for her treatment at John Hopkins Hospital.

Kwajafa , just back from the United States, told Sunday Sun that "prior to the complications which arose, what made a determination of the full cost of Okiki's surgery difficult is that in modern times, it is an extremely rare (perhaps singular) medical condition with no precedence to draw estimates from.

"This latter fact also means that it is equally difficult to tell what other medical complications may arise. An example are fluids that were retained in her cranial cavity which have posed an unforeseen challenge and may have led to a fatal infection."

Kwajafa's worry is that, "OkikiJesu may not be released from hospital until all outstanding bills have been paid. We and her parents are desirous of her condition being fully remedied before she leaves the hospital." Against this backdrop, he said "We would like to appeal to the global public to support our cause in ensuring that OkikiJesu Olawuyi lives."

Medical analysts believe she will be a living testimony if she recovers. According to GIPLC, her case remains the only one of its kind in the world.

When OkikiJesu's father, Mr. Olawuyi spoke to Sunday Sun on telephone from John Hopkins Hospital, he expressed optimism that the girl was doing well and had remained in stable condition. He said "We thank God that she is responding positively to every operation performed on her. The doctors attending to her are also pleased with her present condition. They said she is a miracle child, because she is so far the only child in the world with this kind of health condition.

"They told us that there is no case of her type in medical history at their disposal the world over. There are three renowned doctors attending to OkikiJesu and the experience is so great.

"They keep assuring us that everything will be fine soon. We are also hoping positively and asking God to deliver our child."

In a voice laden with emotion, he appealed to Nigerians to assist the child to live through their generous donations, pointing out that with money available, the baby was sure to survive.

"But our greatest challenge here is the cost of her treatment in the hospital. It's indeed a very tough experience for us as parents.

The medical bill keeps increasing daily and has since been piling up. The treatment has over-shot the initial bill that was given to us before we came, because her condition exceeded their estimation.

The major issue is the hospital bill and not really our up-keep, that is, myself, my wife and our 15-month old baby, (Okiki's younger sister). She is currently at the intensive care unit (ICU). This costs between $6,000 and $10,000 daily. Sometimes, two nurses are stationed to take care of her daily and it costs a lot of money.
"The good thing is that they are not taking any chance. They are all over her all the time. They are monitoring her regularly especially as she is an international patient. The bill is growing higher," he lamented.

Okiki's father further stated that for "every parent of a child with this critical health challenge, one only manages to sleep and to wake up hoping that the next day would be different. We have gone through this trauma all this while. Though, we have faith in God but every passing day, we are afraid for her life. Here in the hospital, as critical as her condition is , we are living and sharing her pains more so that the bills pile up every moment.

" We appeal to Nigerians not to give up on Okiki. With their support, God will not disappoint us because she keeps improving daily. All the operations have been very critical. They took bones from her hand and leg to construct her skull. And she is doing fine.

"We appreciate efforts by all Nigerians including individuals, groups and corporate organizations. Everybody has been very supportive. We thank the Nigerian government, the National Assembly, and particularly the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal and other kind-hearted people and members of our family for their support

"On behalf of our daughter Okiki, and other children and parents in this condition, we urge government to institute a Special Trust Fund to take care of such rare and critical cases in the country. This fund should be adequately funded to cater for such critical needs.

"For us, Okiki's parents, we are in this condition but hope that one day God will deliver us.
"In this situation, we repeat our appeal for quick intervention from the government and other Nigerians. Our wish here is that others should be spared this experience. We plead further with government to establish a fund to cater for such children in this condition.

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 02:19 PM PDT

The state Commissioner for Environment, Mr Tunji Bello, yesterday after the monthly sanitation exercise said, the State Government will seal up any building where residents display their clothes outside indiscriminately.
According to him, spreading of washed clothes on fences, frontage of buildings and bridge railings have become the norm in some parts of the state and the practice constitutes a nuisance to the environment. Tough actions would be taken against erring persons. Houses where compound residents also hang their clothes outside will be sealed, Mr Bello concluded.

LAWMA officials have also been directed to pack those clothes as refuse wherever they see them.

Men And Women: Habits That are Giving You Big Pot Bellies [MUST READ]

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 02:29 PM PDT

Most ladies are tired of trying and persevering to get that flat belly they have been dreaming of. You have exercised, fasted and probably gone for prayers but to no avail. Probably you are doing it all wrong; here are certain habits that making that belly even bigger.
1.You skip meals

This tactic always backfires. You end up so hungry later on that you can't help but overeat. And when you do, more fat will inevitably find its way to your midsection. Eating small- to medium-size meals every three to four hours, however, fills you up without resulting in a layer of flab.
2.You go vegetarian
Women will often avoid foods from the meat, fish, and dairy groups because they think they are packed with calories and fat. But remember, these foods are protein superstars that help boost your metabolism so you can fend off tummy budge.
3.You think bread is the enemy
White bread? Yes, but whole-grain breads and cereals? No way. These allow insulin levels to rise more gradually, reducing the chance that you'll add fat to your belly.
4.You do only sit ups
Sit-ups tone muscle, true, but they don't have any effect on the layer of fat covering them. So doing 50, 100, or even 500 sit ups won't make your jeans feel any looser. Instead of wasting all your time on sit ups, spend an extra 10 minutes on the treadmill or jog.
5.You booze a lot
Alcohol has lots of calories yet doesn't fill you up at all. If you crave a drink, make it red wine; research suggests it is healthy.
6.You eat 'light' products
You may think you are doing your body a favor by opting for sugar-free yogurt, diet soda, or any other snack labeled low-fat or low-cal. But those versions are often loaded with artificial sweeteners, which some nutritionists believe may trigger your metabolism to increase fat storage.
7.You think everything fatty is bad
Foods high in monounsaturated fats help burn off belly fat and lead you to consume less. Nutritionists recommend slicing one-quarter of an avocado onto a sandwich or drizzling olive oil and vinegar on your salad.
Eat healthy, exercise more and love your body!!!

INTERVIEW: Charity Uzoechina, daughter of Redeem Pastor Raymond Uzoechina Converts To Islam

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:55 AM PDT

The conversion to Islam of 25-year-old Charity Uzoechina, daughter of Pastor Raymond Uzoechina of Redeem Christian Church of God, Kwankwashe, Suleja, continues to generate controversy.
Her father accused the Estu Nupe Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar, of hypnotizing his daughter, who has since changed her name to A'isha, to embrace Islam. A'isha, who hails from Asaba, Delta State, came to Abuja at the age of 10 when her father relocated from Lagos.

After her secondary school education at Army Day Secondary School Asokoro, Abuja she got admission into Federal Polytechnic, Bida to read Public Administration. She, however, withdrew from the course in her first year. She embraced Islam on February 15, 2013. A'isha said since her family relocated to Suleja, Niger State, she has been in the midst of Muslims, which accorded her the opportunity to have several Muslims friends and learnt a lot about Islam.
The travails of A'isha began when she ran to the Estu Nupe's palace in Bida on March 1, this year to seek protection against any aggression she may face should her family know about her conversion to Islam. This led to a controversy that is still ongoing, with her father accusing the traditional ruler of kidnapping his daughter. Along the line, several meetings were organized between A'isha and her father Pastor Uzoechina and his daughter at the instance of the Estu Nupe, who also involved some members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
But despite that, A'isha refused to follow her father, alleging that he has threatened to deal with her by taking her away to a place that she will not be able to practice her new religion. A'isha has taken the matter to a Shariah court in Bida and the court is expected to rule on August 1, 2013 whether or not the 25-year-old should be released to her parents or not. She speaks exclusively to Weekly Trust.
Excerpts: Weekly Trust: What is your name?
Aisha Uzoechina: I was formerly known as Charity Uzoechina and now A'isha Uzoechina. Why the change of name? I changed my name because I have accepted Islam.
What brought you to Bida?
I came to Bida in 2012 to read Public Administration at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida.
Are you still a student of Federal Polytechnic Bida?
No, I am not. I have withdrawn from the school.
Did you go back home?
No, I did not go home. At the beginning I was planning to go back home, because I wanted to tell my father that I have converted to Islam. When I converted, I was afraid to tell my parents, because of the way my father would behave. I know he will not take it lightly with me. So, for that I refused to go back home.
Did anybody force or enticed you to join Islam?
I joined Islam on my own. Nobody enticed me with anything to join Islam. What informed your decision to join Islam? I converted to Islam because I love the character of Muslims, particularly the way they behave. You know Muslims believe in God. I have Muslim friends and I watch what they do, that enticed me to join Islam. I used to read Qur'an when I was a Christian. I always join them to read Qur'an and through that I found out that it is the same one God they worship. So I embraced Islam.
How did your father come to know about your change of faith?
When I ran to the palace, I told you, it was very difficult before I could see the Emir. When I saw him, the emir refused to accept me, because my father did not know about it. He, therefore, collected my father's number from me and called him. The following day my father came and said he wanted to see me. When we met we talked one on one.
What did you tell him?
Well the emir told him that I have converted to Islam. When my father talked to me, he said let's go home, but I refused. I told him that I will not change my faith, because I have already accepted Islam and this is where I want to stay. He, therefore, threatened me so much so that I became scared of him.
What did he do to you amounting to a threat?
In the first place you know, I put on Hijab (veil), he said I should remove the Hijab. He was angry and used some harsh words on me, directing that I should remove the Hijab, but I refused. He threatened to take me to a village where nobody will set his eyes on me. So I became scared of him, therefore I refused to follow him. That is it.
Did the emir intervene?
The emir gave him one week to come back, but he came back even before it reached one week. He said he must take me home. He will not take me to our house, but he'll take me to somewhere that nobody will set his eyes on me. I quickly ran back to the emir and to the Shari'a Court for protection. I don't want to go back to my father, because he is threatening me.
How did you come to know about the Shari'a Court?
I found out from people. I went to them on my own to formally lodge my complaint.
Why Shari'a Court?
They have to protect me. You know when you take a case to court over life threatening issue, the court must protect you. That is it.
Did your father come back after you refused to follow him?
He came back. He kept on coming back. The other time he even threatened to bring some people to kidnap me.
Is it true that at a time your father came with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) officials to you?
Yes. Is it true that you also went to the Jama'atul Nasril Islam (JNI)?
Yes.
Why did you go to JNI?
I told you and I'll still repeat it, though I don't want to repeat my words again. I want them to intervene on my behalf, the threat is too much. Now I can't go anywhere, I cannot even continue with my schooling. I cannot do anything because of the way he has been threatening me. He is still bringing people up till now to keep watch on me.
How do you know that your father has assigned people to keep watch on you?
There was a time that I wanted to go out, information came to me that my father was around and I had to stay back since I don't want him to take me away. I know that if I gout anytime,I he'll pick me up.
How did you come to know about JNI?
I have been reading about them. That is why I went to them.
How did you present your case to JNI?
I wrote to them seeking for their intervention, because I do not know how to go about convincing my father. I also learnt that the emir wanted to hand me over to my father, because the burden of my case is becoming too much for him to bear.
If your father should promise to allow you to practice your new faith, will you go with him? I'll not. In a family that you are the only Muslim, how can you practice in that house?
You know when he (my father) came along with my mother the other time, his actions and the harsh words he used, even if I go back home, my life will not be secured in his hand. That is why I said I'll not go.
Did you start learning anything about Islam?
Yes, I started learning how to perform ablution. I have learnt how to recite Surah Al-Fatihah, I am now in my second surah.
Do you pray five times a day?
Yes I do. I am even fasting now. I have been fasting since the beginning of the month of Ramadan.
What is your massage to people wanting to join Islam?
I have only one massage. Islam is good. Muslims are truthful, everything they say, they believe in God and they carry people along. Once a person converted to Islam, he'll be carried along until he is strong to stand on his own.
What is your appeal to your parent?
I am appealing to my parents not to be angry with me. My conversion to Islam will not separate us. I still love them, even though I am here. They can come and visit me and I can also visit them. They shouldn't think my new faith will take away the love I have for them. It will not. I am very sorry

List Of Past Nigerian Celebrities : Rich Today, Poor Tomorrow Due to Bad Investment

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:50 AM PDT

With the way guys are spending money today, Ọmọ Oódua is of the opinion that if anyone come asking for help from Nigerians tomorrow through the media we should ask that person questions.

The extravagant lifestyle of Naija celebrities who squander their wealth on luxury and later become bankrupt is what is giving industry watchers great concern. Why do some Nigeria-known faces in the entertainment industry usually beg for fund after a successful career?

Anthony Ada Abraham and Samuel Abulude take a look at this sad development. A typical Nigeria celebrity is seen as a wealthy personality. Going on tour around the world, shooting videos and making people know they are a force to be reckoned with, buying and big cars, etc.

Most shows they perform in is outside the country and it aids them with lots of money for stage appearance, multinational endorsement and more fan base. But of late, the tide has continued to turn inasmuch as majority seek fund from the public before they could even eat.

The question entertainment enthusiasts are asking is, what have they been doing with the millions they earn?

The ordeal of African Queen Music producer, OJB Jezreel with kidney failure has revealed the lifestyle of our music celebrities. He struggled to get the required funds for his kidney transplant and had to resort to begging Nigerians to save his life and donate money for his operation. This development casts a notion of wasteful spending on our celebrities who made money when the going was good.

A lot of our contemporary artistes and music producers have smiled to the bank unlike the veteran singers of yesteryears who laboured more producing quality music and yet did not make as much as the contemporary artistes. Catching on the global hip hop trend, many of our artistes have hit it off and smiled to the banks. The Nigerian musician has laboured and tried to make himself to be reckoned with.

Today, while many have attained celebrity status via the industry and become brand ambassadors of different products and organisations, others have gradually faded out as if they never existed.

Flashback:

As an upcoming artiste or actor a lifestyle is created to help in championing a career, a lot is provided by a label for instance in the music industry like house, car and some cash for the particular period as agreed by the contract. But when the 'dough' starts coming in, the exotic lifestyle creeps in.

Some spend about hundreds of millions to get a house while others spend same and above to get 'lambogini' just to pose with it because of what they watch on MTV or Channel O. Often, this is far from their initial plan of making it big and establishing themselves as an entrepreneur in the business. And it has continue to hinder a lot of people in the entertainment industry from achieving a lot like their European counterpart.

Though people like D'banj, Don Jazzy, 2face, Omotola, the popular actors Aki and Pawpaw, Genevieve, Jim Iyke and some few others have invested in different businesses aside the usual profession, many are busy buying commodities that do not last for the future only to cry for help when they are broke.

The strugglers:

At that time, his wife was also reported to have left him because he could no longer meet the needs of his family.

Also, at an early age, Shina Peters was one of the richest musicians in Nigeria with his platinum hit Afro juju. He was a force to be reckoned with but some of his fans said it was mismanagement of funds that led to his not being famous.

Nigerian father of Juju music, King Sunny Ade and the northern veteran, Dan Maraya also advised young entertainers to invest their money on things that would benefit them and their family, instead of living a lavish lifestyle and later coming to seek help.

Nico Gravity said in his song 'Finish Timaya' that he had no beef with him. In an interview with Leadership, he said he just tried to advise him and other artistes to invest their money on things that would benefit them in the future instead of making noise of buying cars and travelling round the world only to start begging in the long run. He also said he would be glad if they collaborate in any song.

An insider said that the late Pa Rolling Dollar was totally broke and could not afford the basic necessities of life, though he was popular. But succour came his way from the Lagos state governor.

Majek Fashek:

How are the mighty fallen! This exclamation best captures the current state of New York-based Majek Fashek who waltzed his way into the hearts of music fans in the early '90s with his critically acclaimed album, Prisoner of Conscience.

All is definitely not well with the reggae icon who released a video entitled Jah Revelation. Looking from his kind of music and patronage, he is supposed to be one of the most stable artistes, but Majek has been dogged by bad publicity. After many years of turbulent sojourns, it is hoped that the rainmaker would pray the rain is sent down.

Blackface

When stories of famous entertainers who have suffered a reversal of fortunes are chronicled, the name Augustine Ahmed better known as Blackface would definitely echo and reecho. Ejected from home by landlord, deserted by wife and abandoned by friends; such is the story of Blackface, who was once a trailblazer when the raga movement took off in Nigeria. Together with his friends, Tuface and Faze, they took the music scene by storm. While Tuface, after their inglorious disbandment continues on his astronomical rise and Faze rides on the crest of his modest fame, Blackface has remained unable to find his footings. That is after a big hit with his albums. Will he bounce back or continue to wallow in penury?

Soul E

"In the life of everyman, there must be some ups and downs, it's just a normal thing that happens and I must tell you that I have learnt from them and all I can ask from God is that everything falls in place this time around. Most of the things I did before, I don't do them anymore. One of the things I learnt in my trying period is to be focused on the Lord and no matter how deep down one goes, God is mighty and able to lift him back to the greatest heights."

The above was the response of Emmanuel Okose (aka Soul E) when asked about his depreciated relevance in the Nigerian music industry. Shortly after hitting it big, especially with the tracks, Soul E Baba dey Here, In My Life, among few others, the young hip hop actor disappeared from lime-light. Since he left Colossal Entertainment, to start his own record label, Soul E International Records, all has never been well, especially with his finances. His failed marriage to older lover, Queen Ure is said to have also contributed to his thin pocket. But fans have also blamed him for lack of good planning only to seek for relevance when things are sour.

Baba Fryo

The last time anything news worthy was heard of him was on August 23, 2012, when he was beaten by policemen with their baton, kicked with their boots, handcuffed and dragged like a common thief to Isashi Police Station, along Badagry Express Way. Within the period, 1999 to 2003 when he was still waxing strong in the Nigerian entertainment industry, before fame and fortunes suddenly disappeared into thin air; no police man in Nigeria could have brutalised the Afro-reggae artiste to that extent.

Friday Igweh, popularly called Baba Fryo hit stardom in 1996 with a maiden album, Denge Pose,( a kind of dance one throws his leg as if suffering from waist pain) after which he released a sequel album, Notice Me, in 1999, and Country No Send, in 2003. Within those years,he reigned supreme. But today, it seems 'he can't denge and pose' again.

Marvellous Benji

Chinua Achebe's book, "Things Fall Apart" best captures Marvellous Benji's grace to grass fall. Back in the days when Suo, Konto, (a dance that involves both the hands and legs simultaneously as if pulling a string) and Galala were the reigning dances in Nigeria, Marvellous Benji, whose real name is Benjamin Ukueje also reigned alongside the era. But shortly after, his name, just like the dance pattern, gradually went into limbo – a reason he is currently experiencing hard times. In 2012, he tried relaunching himself into the music industry with two singles, Iwo Ni Mofe, and My Life. Though it was a good effort, but his expectations were never met.

In an interview on his current state with Leadership, the artiste in a sober voice said he is working on a big hit in the pipeline and would let the public know when the meal is ready.

Ekwe

Sunday Osakuni, popularly known as Original Stereoman Ekwe, is no doubt among the artistes with riches to rag stories. According to the artiste whose hit song, E dey Pain Me and once a Glo Ambassador, made waves a few years back. His ordeal began after he was invited by homicide detectives, Force CID Panti, Yaba–Lagos, following an allegation that he strangled and killed his estranged wife, Rukayat Idris in April 2012. The incident, no doubt, affected the fortunes and career of the dread-locked artiste. For almost a year now, shows have eluded him. And the matter is worsened by the absence of a trending song from the Delta State-born Stereo man. We hope he will rise to fall no more.
Eddy Remedy
Eddy Ashiedu-Brown, better known as Eddy Montana, a former member of the defunct musical group, Remedies, has had his own share of misfortunes in the nation's entertainment industry. He seems the only unsuccessful member of the defunct Remedies. He had a messy separation from his wife, Kenny Saint Brown of Kennis Music and has not been able to resuscitate his music career since he dropped the arrival of Eddy Remedy. His case is like the unfortunate hunter who caught a big Antelope but in a twinkle of an eye, let loose.

Daddy Fresh

The former dance-hall guru, who reigned alongside Daddy Showkey and Baba Fryo, has left the industry that once brought him fame and fortunes. His last attempt at reclaiming his lost spot on the music scene was a monumental failure and ever since, nobody knows his whereabouts musically.

Fada U-turn

The name Femi Mayomi might not ring a bell in many ears. But once Fada U-turn is mentioned, people will scream and are bound to ask, "where is him now?" This talented singer, whose hit track, Yetunde, in 1999, became a household number is today struggling with life as a result of fortunes reversal.

At the moment, he is planning to stage a comeback into the industry, especially with the recent release of his brand new single entitled Gbafun Remix, which features K-Solo. The song which was also produced by K-Solo is the first single from Fada U-turn's forthcoming double album – Oba Shakara and Obaluaye, from the stables of Shakara sounds. We hope it would be a progressive U-turn this time around.

The Way Forward

Entertainers should know that they are public figures and people (fans) are watching and monitoring their progression especially when they have made it big. It's left for them to work for the future and invest in any way they can, even if it means opening a kiosk to aid them during the rainy day.

This actress and her way of justifying husband snatching is funny. She made a man, who used to love his wife and kids, to send them out of his house overnight and she's calling it "God answers prayer"? How sad!
Below is a brief part of a recent chat where Foluke Darama talk about her action:

Since you got married, you hardly talk about your new status. Why?
Well, I thank God. I did not plan for it. I had told myself that I was out of it, and I was done with it. It just happened. I am happy with my husband. I thank God that I have a man that understands me and has taken me for who I am. He is someone who tells me to keep giving my best. He gives me a lot of push.

Many say the marriage is that of convenience, and it's all about the money. What is your reaction to this?
It is not at all about material things. In fact, if it is about material things, I would not be in this marriage; I will be somewhere else. What I need and prayed to God for is a man who will love me and understand me, and I got my wish.

Are you planning to have children with your new husband?
Oh sure. Children are the joy of every marriage and we definitely look forward to having children together.

Are you sometimes scared that this one might end up like the first?
That I believe is not a possibility. We are attracted emotionally to each other, and we both have a spiritual connection, which we didn't hesitate to find out all the way. My mum went out to pray about it with men of God. I also went out to pray and fasted over it. He had a past; I have mine, so the two of us coming together is like we don't have a choice than to make it work for both of us. If you have noticed, both our families, all the family members were involved, which is unusual. Normally, you find one or two family members saying one thing or the other, but in this case, everybody, my father-in-law, my brothers, my brothers and sisters-in-law, everybody, including my uncle and parents were positive. So, at the end of the day, you find that God is actually telling us something. So, I needed that spiritual conviction.

The first time, not that I didn't need the spiritual conviction, but then I wasn't in a hurry, everything people told me was like let us do it. But when I was about getting married, I had this strong heartbeat, it was very strong, but I looked at it and said maybe it's maturity and I know it is maturity. I guess it's just peace of mind. There is a difference between infatuation and love and this you may not know when you are young. Now, I know am in love with the right person, and my mind is at peace. We have our fights, we have our quarrels, but we understand we are both in something that has to work.

ASUU May Call Off Strike On Thursday?

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:27 AM PDT

There are indications that the on-going strike embarked uponby the Academic Staff Union ofNigerian Universities might be called off next Thursday. Governor of Benue State, Mr Gabriel Suswam who dropped this hint Friday said ASUU and the Federal Government had reached agreements on all the contentious issues that led to the industrial action except two.
Suswam who was appointed as Chairman of the Needs AssessmentImplementation Committee of the Federal Government said after nextThursday's deliberations between his Committee and the various agencies of government funding tertiary education, all the contentious issues would likely be resolved. Speaking to news men in Abujaafter attending a meeting betweenthe Federal Government's delegation and ASUU, Suswam saidthat agreements had been reachedby both parties on all issues excepttwo.

Said he: "We reached agreements on all issues except two. These twoissues are those of earned allowancesof lecturers and intervention for the federal universities. These are the only issues that are still outstanding." The Benue Governor further said he believed that by next week after his Committee would have arrived at an agreement on all the issues, ASUU would call off the strike. He continued: "The SGF would meet with the leadership of ASUU on the issue of earned allowances by next Monday.

Then my committee which is dealing with the issue of the needsassessmentof the universities would meet again next Thursday and take another look at all the infrastructuraldeficits which the federal universities are facing. If you go to our universities, you would agree that they are facing infrastructuraldeficits and that is why my committee would meet with all the funding agencies next Thursdayfor the purpose of prioritizing all the projects that need to beexecuted. We are going to invite all the agencies thatare involved in the funding of the universities including the Central Bank of Nigeria." Suswam further stated that theissues on agreements have been reached include: those of retirement age for university lecturers- which has now been increased from 65 to 70 years; the constitution of the governing councils of the universities which has already been done by the Government; the setting up of a pension administrator and the issue of persuading companies operating in the country to set up research centers in the universities.

Said he: "As far as I am concerned, if the issues concerning intervention and earned allowances are resolved next week, then the strike could be called off" Among those who attended themeeting were Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, Ministerof Labour, Hon. Emeka Wogu, Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayatu Rufai and President of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr Nasir Fagge

Funke Akindele Cries To God: "I'm Sorry For Complaining"

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:26 AM PDT

It seems our dear actress Funke Akindele rushed into the marriage with Mr Oloyede, and that explains why she also rushed out. More like she was complaining to God about a man to call her husband and it got to a point she couldn't wait for divine intervention, hence she decided to do things her own way.
But she said she has learnt her lessons the hard way. See her short message to God below:

Dear God, I woke up,
I am healthy. I am alive.
Thank you!

I apologize for all my complaining.
I'm truly truly grateful for all you've done.

I’ve found another love —Ayo Adesanya

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:24 AM PDT

                                          ayo-adesanya_tattoos

Ayo Adesanya is not a new face in Nollywood. She has acted alongside veterans like Regina Askia, Liz Benzon, Ucharia Anunobi and many others. The University of Ibadan graduate of Communications and Language Arts, like many of her peers, ventured into movie production. She spoke with AJIBADE ALABI recently on several issues in the industry.
Why acting and not practicing what you studied in school?
I have always liked acting; it is just inborn. Right from my childhood days, I knew I would end up being an actress.

How did you join the industry?

I went for an interview somewhere, where I met Ifeanyi. It was he who invited me for an auditioning, and in that auditioning I was given a waka pass role. That was my first role, and that was how the journey began.
But I had always wanted to be an actress. I had started right from when I was in nursery school. I acted also when in secondary school. I also acted in church. So, it has been part of me right from the beginning.

Who are your contemporaries in the industry?
I have Bimbo Akintola, Sandra Achums, Eucharia Anunobi and some others I can't remember now.

What about Regina Askia?
Ha! Regina started before me. The reason people always think we stated together is because we acted many films together, like in Most Wanted, where I played a lead role with her, and that film shot me into limelight. So many people thought we were contemporaries. No, we were not; she started before me. I must give God the glory for that film (Most Wanted). Though I had acted in many films before that, that particular film brought out the talent in me. And it was a film where I acted with the who is who in the industry then.

People seem to see you as being arrogant. How do you take that?
I don't know where you got your fact from, but all I can tell you is that I am not arrogant. I am a normal person. I am a cool person. The fact that one plays one role in a movie does not make that person to be wicked, arrogant or controversial. There are roles that you will play that people will like you, and there are also roles that you will play that people will feel like stoning you to death. People should know the difference between when one is on set and when one is living one's normal life. These are two different things. The fact that I acted as prostitute in a movie does not make me a prostitute.

After Goriola Hassan, your ex-hubby, what next?
What next as in what? I am leaving my life as normal. Goriola is a closed chapter in my life; it is one of those things in life. Life continues. Will I continue to ruminate over that? A beg, life continues

Have you found another love?
Yes. I have found another love. I am into a new relationship.

But has love been fair to you?
Yes. Love has been fair to me, and I thank God for that.

Do you still remember 2005 when you were voted as one of the sexiest actresses of the 90s?
I still remember.

Then, you said your eyes were your sexiest part. Are you still holding to that view?
I still believe that my eyes are the sexiest part of me, and people always talk about my eyes as being the sexiest. And I do not doubt that; my eyes are sexy and captivating!

You are one of the very few Yoruba actresses who dumped the English sector to join the Yoruba. Tell us why
I just feel I should go back to my roots. Even while I was doing English movies, I was still appearing in Yoruba movies. For instance, I acted in Iru Oka alongside Ramsey Nouah while I was still in the English caucus. So, it was not as if I did not act in Yoruba before or I just dumped English for Yoruba. I just feel I want to come fully to the Yoruba sector.

As someone who has done both Yoruba and English films, what can you say is the difference between the two?
There is no much difference; the only difference is that Yoruba is rich in story line and they (producers) have very deep story lines that teach morals. I am not castigating any tribe here, mind you; I'm just telling you what I feel. If you take note that a lot of improvement has occurred in Yoruba film industry. The cameras, the location and the costumes and even the effects that are now being used cannot be compared to what we had in the past. So, I can tell you that good things are now happening in the Yoruba section of Nollywood.

Did you have a taste of sexual harassment as an up-and-coming actress?
I did not believe anyone is harassing anybody. If you are talented and you know what you are doing, nobody will ever harass or molest you. Fine, as a fine lady, you are bound to be toasted, it now depends on you to succumb to whoever you want to date. It is not a matter of life and death. I don't believe anybody can be harassed sexually, except they are not good. If you know what you want, nobody can harass you.

You have acted in many films. Which one can you say was most challenging?
All my roles have been challenging. Take for instance, my role in Osuka, where I played two roles. In that movie, I played the role of a young girl and an old woman – which was very challenging. But you need to watch this my latest film, entitled Amope Alasela. In this one, I played a dual role. I must tell you it was very daunting and tasking, because I had to change many times to play the roles of different people. The director had to wait for me to change. And there was a scene where both characters met. It was very demanding. Apart from that, I also acted some funny part in the film.

Talking about being funny, it seems you have added that to your acting now?
That is what I was telling you. That is to tell you that as an actress, I'm versatile. There is no role I cannot play.

In Islam, a girl can marry once she starts menstruation – Ahmed Sani

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:24 AM PDT

Senator Ahmed Yerima
In this interview with JOHN ALECHENU, the first Executive Governor of Zamfara State, now Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima- Bakura speaks about the recent alteration of the constitution as well as his many controversies. Excerpts:
Your position on the recommendation by the Senate Committee on the Review of the Constitution that provisions of section 29 (4) (b) be deleted from the 1999 Constitution has generated public outcry. Why did you demand that the matter be revisited?
People do not seem to understand the issues; most of the criticisms about my position are based on ignorance. The issue was not about marriage, it is about renunciation of one's citizenship. If you read the section carefully, it says a woman who is married shall be deemed to be of full age. The preceding section described "full age" as meaning age of eighteen years and above. Now, removing this section will infringe on Islamic law, because Islam recognises a married woman as having attained full age. Item 61 of the Second Schedule, Part I in the Exclusive Legislative List of the Constitution says the Legislative Powers include: "The formation, annulment and dissolution of marriages other than marriages under Islamic law and customary law including matrimonial causes relating thereto." To delete sub-section (4) (b) will amount to a breach of Item 61 as I mentioned earlier. Our people should understand the provisions of our constitution.
Now to the other part of your question, when we voted on the item the first time, I said nothing and I left to go and pray. When I returned from prayers, I discovered that there were two items which had been voted on but were revisited. I then raised the issue and the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, being a just leader, a leader who listens, said a vote had been taken and passed. But I insisted and he gave us the opportunity to revisit the issue in the interest of fairness, we took another vote and we won.
People don't seem to understand that this provision has been in the constitution since 1979, not even 1999, it has been there. Framers of the constitution recognise the fact that Nigeria is a multi-religious society so they made provisions to guarantee religious freedoms. The constitution recognises that there are Christians, Muslims, animists and even those who do not believe in anything.
This is not the first time you are embroiled in a controversy over the issue of marriage. About three years ago, you were said to have married a 13 year- old Egyptian girl. Was she really 13?
You see, this is another misunderstanding of actions taken in conformity with the tenets of my religion. When I married my Egyptian wife I followed laid down procedures for marriage in Islam. When I informed the Ulama that I wanted to get married as is required by Islam they said they had to witness it because this was required before they could issue a marriage certificate. They were there, it was not done in secret; they witnessed it and issued me a marriage certificate, I still have it. So when NAPTIP (National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons) wrote me a letter on the issue, in my reply, I attached a photocopy of the certificate. Those who have decided to oppose anything that Yarima says or does speak about these things ignorantly. There was nothing Islamically wrong with my marriage.
Women groups are demanding that you show them which part of the Quran or the Haddith you are relying on to hold on to this position?
I will refer such people to the Holy Quran. The Holy Quran says any married woman is of full age. That is why the Holy Quran says any married woman who commits adultery should be stoned to death that is under Islamic law. It is not a matter of a woman who has reached the age of 18 years. Some Muslims are ignorant about their religion. As far as the Quran is concerned, any married woman is of full age. And the Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W) said, for you to be married, there are conditions you must have attained as a woman. One of it is menstruation. Once you start your menstruation, you are of full age, you can marry, that is the Quran and the Haddith (saying and actions of the Prophet) I refer them to.
The introduction of the Sharia legal code which you championed as governor generated another controversy. There were riots over the issue in some states but none in Zamfara… (Cuts in)
Some people have asked what the magic was. When you are elected as a local government chairman, governor or president, you must have an objective. The overriding objective is to serve the people. If you follow your personal objective, and allow your personal interest to override the general interest of the people, they will not like you after you leave. But if you ignore your personal interest, desires, aspirations and lead the people based on the tenets and teaching of your faith as well as the provisions of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, you deliver the dividends of democracy, you are very transparent, you are just and fair, they see that what you are doing is what you said you are going to do, they will continue to support you. Up till today, if I go to Zamfara, not only after the last election, I have the firm belief that by the grace of God, I will continue to win elections because I did the best I could to serve the people in the best manner I think possible.
I recall a man who stole a cow had his hand amputated, yet there are public servants who steal billions but their crime does not attract that kind of punishment under Sharia law. Why?
Sharia law defines every minute issue that affects human life from conception, even sex, even going to the toilet, how you enter the toilet: you enter beginning with the left leg, you come out with the right leg, sharia law defines everything that has to do with human life especially the life of a Muslim. It clearly defines theft, betrayal of trust, mischief, they are all defined and the various punishments are also defined. Under the Sharia law, if you are my security guard and you officially have access to my bedroom or even if you are my cleaner and I kept my money on the table and you take it, that is considered betrayal of trust not stealing. If you are appointed by government or you are an employee of government and you are entrusted with funds and you took part of it, that is also betrayal of trust, it does not mean that you will not be punished but you will not have your hand cut. The only way you can have your hand cut is take for example, my employee, you are my cleaner, you enter my room break open my safe and take money out of it, you have stolen and should have your hand cut. People should understand these things.
You have a Masters Degree in Economics; you once worked in the Central Bank of Nigeria before you joined politics. When did this passion for Islam come in?
Right from the time I was born. I was born in a royal family that was very religious. I have been educated in Islamic schools as well as conventional primary school, right from when I was a child. Even in primary school, we had lessons in Arabic, courses in Islamic studies up till University level when I did my preliminary studies in the Bayero University Kano. I also took Islamic Studies as one of my courses. I also studied Political Science, Economics and Sociology. If a Christian for example reads whatever he reads, I expect him to observe the teachings and practice of his religion, which is all I am doing. I am not an extremist, I don't believe in extremism. I believe Islam wants you to be a moderate Muslim but moderation does not mean abandoning the tenets and principles of your religion. If you have to abandon the basic principles of your religion to be moderate, that is not moderation. I am a moderate in the sense that one, I believe in peaceful co-existence between Christians and Muslims, two, I believe in the right of a Muslim and the right of a Christian to practise his religion without hindrance as provided for in our Constitution. I don't believe in killing human beings without any just cause, I believe that the only way life can be taken is through the legal process. If you are taken to court for a crime that deserves the death sentence, you are tried, found guilty and sentenced to death, the government should kill you. Any other way is unacceptable that is what my religion says. I don't believe that people should be forced to renounce their faith. I don't believe that, because my faith teaches me that there is no compulsion in religion. These are the kind of things; I have to practise my belief, my faith, based on my understanding. The understanding is what the Ulamas, renowned Ulamas not just any Ulama say. If my conscience is not sure of what you are saying, there are translations of the Quran in English, on the internet, on my telephone, on Ipad, Ipod, you can download it. There is the translation of the Hadith in English, so if you say anything that is contrary to what I understand through the interpretation of my religion, that will not be agreeable to me.
The so-called extremists are taking themselves out of the religion because if you go outside what the religion says you should do, then you are going out of the religion itself. Take for example; the religion says we should pray five times a day, if you pray six times you are going out of the mandate as a Muslim. You are enjoined to be a moderate as a Muslim. For example, if you cannot fast because you are sick, you cannot force yourself to fast. You are exempted from fasting, but you are expected to do certain things. For example, you feed the needy, even if you don't have the means to feed the needy you don't have to fast, you don't have to feed the needy. If you say you must steal money to feed the needy, you have gone outside the religion. There are so many things that are said that when you don't have the capacity to do it, you don't have to, for example, marriage. As a Muslim, you can marry up to four wives if you can afford to feed, clothe, and take care of them. In Islam, a woman should not do anything; she should just be staying in the house if she wants. She can work if she wants, one of my wives is a medical doctor and she goes to work, all her income is hers, I have nothing to do with her salary. She rose to the rank of Permanent Secretary, if she retires today she continues with her salary for life as pension. I don't even ask her how much did you get this month. It is my responsibility as is enshrined in my religion to clothe her, feed her, provide her with a car and fuel it,  what she does with her money is none of my business.  This is what my religion teaches me, women have more rights; my wife has total rights over me. I have to give her all that she needs whether she is working or not.
Was there a decision you took as governor that looking back now you would have acted differently?
Whenever I cast my mind back to the eight years I spent as governor, I always thank God because with the limited resources that I had, I think I did everything possible within my power to utilise them for the benefit of the people as shown by what is happening in Zamfara today and by the grace of God, for as long as I remain in politics.
You were the only governor till date to have named your successor who was your then Deputy Governor… (Cuts in)
…One week after I was inaugurated I did that. The Constitution provides for a governor and deputy governor and in the event the governor dies or becomes incapacitated, the deputy takes over and I think there should be room for continuity and if you carry your deputy along in service, I think he should be the best person to succeed you in a democracy unless he has some inadequacies exposed by himself which people saw and said no. I worked with my deputy very well; we had no problem between us. One week after my inauguration I endorsed him as my successor. Unfortunately he decided to leave my party thinking that it is the seat of power (in Abuja) that will retain you as governor but he lost because the people know what they are looking for-service delivery. And by the grace of God, I did my best and that is why I brought another person and by the grace of God, God accepted him and made him the governor of Zamfara State today.
Insecurity has crippled the north socially and economically. What do you think can be done to reverse this trend?
The security challenge that we have in the north today is a very bad and disheartening situation. It is something that all of us not only in the north, but across the nation, should look at. It is the responsibility of every one of us to contribute and support the government. That is why if you see the other issue people are trying to make a controversy of is when I took Ulamas to the President to talk to him and advise him on how best to handle this security situation. For example, at that meeting, one of the Ulamas from Borno State, a Professor, said your Excellency, blockage of GSM services in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states has some advantages because it will not allow the militants to communicate among themselves but has a disadvantage because you have now put a majority of the population in a closed position. They cannot communicate with their families; they cannot communicate with their friends, do business or even raise the alarm in times of emergencies. Their education through the use of the Internet is blocked and all that. Mr. President promised to hold a security meeting to address the issue, the next day, he did as he promised. This is the kind of contribution every northerner- if you can contribute no matter how small to resolving this problem. I believe it is the right thing to do. It is the responsibility of all of us, if you cannot use your hand to change it, speak out, you don't have to go and address the press, you can go and advise the President on what to do and if he does it, at least you have made a contribution. I think as long as this security challenges continue, the economy of the north will continue to dwindle. Commercial activities have been crippled, farmers and Fulani herdsmen have been clashing, several lives are being lost. I hope government will continue to do what it should do to solve this problem. There are several countries that have faced worse challenges than we are facing today. The civil war for example was worse than what we are going through today. I believe that by the grace of God we will surmount these challenges.
What do you have to say to Nigerians who say the North must get the Presidency in 2015 and Southerners who say it is Jonathan or nothing?
They are all ignorant about democracy and they are all talking nonsense. In democracy, and politics it is the political parties and the electorate that decide who should be a candidate or should be elected. If a party presents a candidate and you don't like him, you vote him out. It is not by shouting: No, I want a northerner, I want Southerner, I want Ijaw and if the Ijaw man does not win, hell fire will come, if a northerner is not President, the country will break. Let us follow the constitution, let us follow the democratic channels and express our opinions, some of these pronouncements are just overheating the system, creating unnecessary enmity.
If the All Progressive Congress is registered, it will present its own candidate, the Peoples Democratic Party will present its own candidate, then the majority of  Nigerian voters will decide who should be President. People say people rig, it is only when the people allow rigging that it will take place.  If you are committed politically and you believe in what you are doing, you will do what we did in Zamfara. In Kano in 2003, PDP lost to ANPP when Shekarau became the governor. It happened in Zamfara, so also in Borno State, the late governor Mala Kachalla left ANPP, moved to AD at that time and Sheriff became the governor. As far as I am concerned, what we need is to continue to live together as one indivisible nation as enshrined in our constitution and the only way to acquire power should be through the constitution.
Considering the antecedents of some of the leading figures in the APC and the tense relations some of you ex-governors had with Nuhu Ribadu as chairman of the Economic Financial Crime Commission, do you see the proposed party succeeding?
It had been said that we cannot come together because we will not agree even to have a name, Constitution or have a manifesto or logo. Later they said, leave them, when they try to set up their caretaker committee, they will not be able to do that and we have all come together in spite of all these differences and we have become APC. I want to assure you that because our constitution recognises internal democracy as the only way which candidates will emerge for either political offices or party offices, I think once our constitution is adhered to, APC will form the next government.
Will you run for the Presidency in 2015?
In 2007 I came out to contest for the ANPP ticket but I stepped down for General Muhammadu Buhari, not because of pressure from people but because I believed he was a better candidate than myself. If tomorrow he is interested, I will not be interested. The only way I will contest is if General Buhari says no, I am not running. If Buhari is running, I am his supporter, I will campaign for him, I will endorse him.

Why I, sometimes, throw caution to the winds —Bimbo Oshin

Posted: 28 Jul 2013 10:23 AM PDT

Abimbola Oshin Ibironke, a graduate of Philosophy from the University of Lagos, is one of the leading actresses in Nollywood. In this interview with TAYO GESINDE, the pretty wife of Dudu Heritage boss, Ola Ibironke, speaks on her love for cooking and her fashion preferences. Excerpts:
Growing up.
I am from a large family, the seventh of eight children, so I have a lot of older ones. I was born in Ondo State which is where I am from. My late father, Pa Theophilus Olasanmi Oshin was an educationist and a disciplinarian and my mother, Ibijoke Oshin was very industrious. Growing up was fun! Really, it was. It was always a full house and loads of activities at every point in time.
Foray into acting
Well, naturally, I have flair for the arts, so, acting came naturally to me. I sing too. I started acting while I was in the university and on obtaining my degree in Philosophy from Unilag, I decided to go into it as a profession. I see acting as an opportunity for me to express myself and play different characters and pass a message to people.

Description of self.

I will describe myself as a devoted wife and mother, someone who is passionate about her family as well as her work. A woman who loves God. Also, I am a faithful friend and a lover of all beautiful things.

Definition of style.

As I always say, style surpasses trend. I believe style is a personal expression. It is something that is unique and is just you.
Beauty regimen.
Oh well! I always advise on four simple steps. They are: cleanse; exfoliate; tone and moisturise. It is that simple.

Choice of accessories.

Well, that would really depend on the outfit am wearing and the look I want to achieve but generally, I prefer bold accessories that can make a statement and make my outfit come alive because really, it is the accessories that make the outfit. It is not just about wearing a black strapless dress but complementing it with the right jewellery, belt, purse and shoes. It has to make the outfit pop up and come alive.

Accessory I cannot do without.
That would be a pair of sunglasses.

Secret of beauty.

That would definitely be my creator, God , for creating me the way I am. I also take proper care of myself and my body, what I eat and all other things I do to maintain the way I'm naturally made.
Diet or exercise.
I won't say I have a strict diet. Basically, I just watch what I eat. Some items may be tempting but I know when to stop. I must confess that there are times when I throw caution to the winds and indulge but then, I know I will have to work it all off. I do exercise too because I try as much as possible to stay fit.

Special treat.

I have everything, from facials, full body massage, manicure and pedicure to steam bath. I just take a day off. No phone calls and I just enjoy being take care of. I try to do it as often as possible. Asides from my special days off, I relax at home just chilling with my family, reading novels, watching movies and cooking. Did I say I love to cook? Yeah! I love cooking but I don't like washing dirty dishes. of.:cleanse; exfoliate; tone and moisturise. It is that simple.

I won't say I have a strict diet. Basically, I just watch what I eat. Some items may be tempting but I know when to stop. I must confess that there are times when I throw caution to the winds and indulge but then, I know I will have to work it all off. I do exercise too because I try as much as possible to stay fit .

Special treat.
I have everything from facials, full body massage, manicure and pedicure to steam bath. I just take a day off. No phone calls and I just enjoy being taken care of. I try to do it as often as possible. Asides from my special days off, I relax at home just chilling with my family, reading novels, watching movies and cooking. Did I say I love to cook? Yeah! I love cooking but I don't like washing dirty dishes.

The Actors Guild of Nigeria has expressed concern over the controversy surrounding the break in the marriage between popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, and her husband, Mr. Almaroof Oloyede, describing the development as "unfortunate."
The Chairman of AGN, FCT, Abuja chapter, Mr. Onwurah Agility, speaking in an interview said some marriages were not meant to be.
Onwurah said, "because I am an actor does not mean I have to die in my marriage if it is not working out. We are humans like others, blood runs in our veins like other people.

"Marriage in Nollywood is not different from other marriages. But because we are the mirror of the society, the face of the screen and role models to many, if there is a problem in our marriage, it makes noise more than any other. There are many people in the industry that have been married for many years without separating.

"What happened to Funke (Akindele) is unfortunate but like she said, may be they were not to be husband and wife and she has learnt her lessons. It could have been anybody.
"The theory and stories that actors' marriages don't last are very wrong. I have been married for five years and still counting, likewise so many other actors in the industry," he said.

Akindele, had while confirming the crash of her marriage, said she had learnt from her mistakes and had no grudge against her former husband.
