Video:
Still wondering why we have lots of police brutality and extra judicial killings in Nigeria? Well its very apparent. A Nigerian policeman can gun down anyone once they feel like it.
The report posted on Channels TV below;

A police officer attached to and AIC Limited, owned by Harry Akande on Tuesday threatened to 'gun down' an official of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

AIC on Tuesday stormed the airport premises to reclaim the land which was taken away from the company but was resisted by FAAN's Aviation Security officials, who threw caution to the wind and battled members of the AIC, including throwing stones at Mr Akande.

AIC had leased the said land to FAAN about 10 years ago for the development of a hotel facility at the international wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
A forthnight ago, FAAN had won a case against AIC over the land as the Federal High Court in Lagos set aside the decision of arbitration that awarded the company $48 million to be paid by FAAN, as compensation for ejection of AIC from the land.

While FAAN insisted that the land in question belongs to it by virtue of the Federal High Court judgment; AIC also said the court never ordered the agency to take over the parcel of land immediately.

Eyewitness account said FAAN officials bulldozed their way into the barricaded land, pulled down the gates and commenced clearing of the land with two tractors and its personnel.

Nigeria Sets World Record In Tooth-Brushing

Nigeria Sets World Record In Tooth-Brushing
Nigeria's Lagos State has shattered the Guinness Book of World in tooth brushing previously set by India by getting 300,000 students from 600 public secondary schools in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria to brush their teeth simultaneously at different locations.

In 2007, 117,000 students in India brushed their teeth simultaneously for one minute at different locations, thus entering the Guinness Book of World Record, a record that has lasted for six years.

In Lagos the students achieved this feat by brushing their teeth simultaneously for one minute across 326 multiple locations across Lagos State, with the main location being Teslim Balogun Stadium where thousands of students undertook the exercise.

At exactly, 2.15 pm on Thursday, Project Head of HEIT Solutions, Dr. Lawal Bakare, convener of the Tooth brushing Challenge Project, signaled on the students to begin brushing their teeth and called on them to stop at 2.16 pm.

Unilever Nigeria Limited, one of the sponsors of the event provided the tooth brush and toothpaste used in the challenge, while the Lagos State Government partnered with HEIT Solution to undertake the tooth brushing challenge.

Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina commended the students for being part of the feat, describing it as historic for their generation, saying that there was need for them to pay more attention to their oral health, as doing so, would impact on their general well being and ensure they lived long.

According to her, the government explored the tooth brushing challenge as a means to build positive oral health behaviours among young people and use them to influence change in older people, while restating government`s commitment to the provision of affordable dental care, as a good number of health facilities had been equipped to demonstrate that commitment.

He said the new record is subject to verification by officials of the Guinness Book of Records after the report from all the locations is collated, upon which certificate will be presented as the official World Record holders.

Convener of the tooth brushing challenge, Bakare explained that school children were chosen for the project because they were still at a stage when they could embrace new behaviours and attitudes.

"You are the essence of this challenge, we gathered here because we believe that you are supposed to have better oral health. Most of you do not know that when you don't have your teeth, you would not grow as you ought to, so we are trying to make you remember three things; brush twice a day, brush using the appropriate technique and visit the dentist regularly,' he stated.

According to the Brand Manager, Unilever (Close Up), Mr. Kester Abiola, less than 50 percent of Nigerians brush their teeth twice a day as that was not good enough, adding that 17 percent of the population had toothaches due to improper and irregular tooth brushing, which he said, could be corrected with good oral hygiene.

"Unilever has supported oral health in Nigeria for over eight decades; its Close-Up brand was produced to meet the oral health needs of Nigerians. Unilever is 90 years old and over the years, we have continued to come up with products to ensure oral health of citizens, especially children. Close Up tooth paste is a family brand anytime any day and we are proud to be part of history making," he said.

Paul Okoye Of P-Square accepts His baby with 19 year old Girlfriend

Posted: 05 Jul 2013 09:00 AM PDT

In May, we all heard that Paul Okoye, the other half of singing sensation P-Square, had welcomed a baby with 19 year old MBGN 2012 contestant, Elshama Igbanoi. If you missed it, read it HERE

Paul Okoye has never reacted to the story in the press...to either confirm or deny that he is indeed the little boy's father. The boy was born April 7th in the UK, four days before Paul and his girlfriend Anita welcomed their son, Andre, in Atlanta.

Paul at the time told the Igbanoi family that he's going to do a DNA test to ascertain paternity. Maybe he's done it because he has officially acknowledged the boy as his.

Would You Go For Human Breast Milk As It Becomes New Luxury Item For China's Super-Rich

Posted: 05 Jul 2013 06:00 AM PDT

China's super-rich are paying thousands of dollars a month for human breast milk, with some even choosing to be wet nursed.

The bizarre new trend has seen a rise in adults buying breast milk and drinking it either straight from the wet nurse or after it was expressed.
Newspaper reports on the service have provoked outrage in China with tens of thousands of people posting on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.

According to the Southern Metropolis Daily, domestic staff agencies are offering wet nurses for newborns, sick people or anyone who will pay up to 16,000 yuan (£2,600) a month.

Customers say they want the concentrated nutrition breast milk provides.
It has a unique combination of antibodies, living cells, enzymes, hormones and fatty acids that has led some people to treat it as the latest superfood.

'Adult (clients) can drink it directly through breastfeeding, or they can always drink it from a breast pump if they feel embarrassed', Lin Jun, owner of company Xinxinyu that offers the service, was quoted as saying by AFP.
Critics say the practice turns a mother's milk into a commodity and cheapens the bond between mother and child.

Chinese commentator Cao Baoyin wrote on his blog: 'This adds to China's problem of treating women as consumer goods and the moral degradation of China's rich', according to AFP.

Nine out of ten people said they disagreed with the practice on an online poll.

One user on Weibo called it 'disguised pornography', while others said it was merely a form of novelty entertainment for China's super rich.

It is not only in China that has seen a rise in adults drinking breast milk.

The first website offering breast milk for sale was launched in 2010 and it has steadily grown since then.

In the UK, as well as NHS registered breast milk banks for mothers who cannot breast feed their babies themselves, there are also women selling supplies to adults, who claim it helps with a variety of ailments.

In 2011, London outlet The Icreamists hit headlines around the world with their Baby Gaga ice-cream made from breast milk and served with a rusk.
Other countries take the supposed health benefits of breast milk very seriously.

Cancer patients, or those with digestive disorders or immune problems, can obtain breast milk on prescription in the U.S.

Trials are also underway in California for a breast milk acne cream.

Video: Can You Imagine? Boko Haram Makes Its Way Into Nollywood

Posted: 05 Jul 2013 04:29 AM PDT

It's a tried and tested formula for smash-hit Hollywood cinema: terrorists plotting mass destruction only to be foiled by a mixture of fate and law enforcement – with a good love story thrown in to boot. Now Nollywood, Nigeria's burgeoning film industry, has got in on the action, making the country's Islamic extremist sect the subject of a new release, Boko Haram - the movie.

The film follows the story of a young man who comes to Lagos with a secret mission to detonate a bomb that will kill 2,500 people. But in an unlikely twist he meets a prostitute who prompts a rethink. "It's a film about a terrorist who finds love and has to challenge everything he has been taught," said Pascal Amanfo, who wrote and directed the film. "We wanted to delve into the core of this issue, challenging people's ideals and beliefs.
The film, released earlier this year in Nigeria and soon to be released in Ghana, is not without controversy. Amanfo said he had to change the name from Boko Haram to Nation Under Siege for the film's domestic release, due to Nigerians' heightened sensitivity on the topic. In Ghana, where the film is still titled Boko Haram, critics said the poster – depicting the fair-skinned Ghanaian actor Majid Michel wearing a turban and holding an AK47 – pandered to stereotypes about terrorism in the region.

There is rising demand for local movies across west Africa, where the growing middle classes buy genuine and bootleg DVDs of films such as War in the Palace, God Love Prostitutes and Fazebook Babes. By some estimates Nollywood is the second biggest film industry in the world, releasing as many as 2,000 films a year and continuing to expand. Last month the first NollywoodWeek Paris festival took place in the French capital a week after Cannes, to increase Francophone distribution opportunities.

Industry insiders say there is a growing trend for films that take on controversial topics in the news rather than traditional subjects like love, black magic and family feuds.Last year's Last Flight to Abuja touched on the subject of air crashes, a delicate subject in Nigeria where shortly after the film's release a passenger plane crashed into a building in Lagos, killing 153 people. The murder of four students at the University of Port Harcourt last year, killed by a mob after they were accused of stealing, was quickly turned into another Nollywood movie.

"It is definitely a case of art imitating life," said Zara Johns, "Nollywood evangelist" at Iroko TV, an on-demand film streaming service for Nollywood movies. "These things tend to resonate with Nigerians because they are really happening," she said.
