Romance Meets Life

Couple Love - Yomi and Liz Black

Posted: 30 Jul 2013 02:09 PM PDT

Yomi Black and Elizabeth John were both contestants on the reality TV show "The Intern" Season 2, where they met and started their relationship. She was a wedding consultant and he a media producer. I don't think either of them won the top prize on the show, but they certainly won in other ways. Yomi and Liz Black got married last year and their love is still going strong. Wishing them the best.

Are Women More Daring or Safer Drivers Than Men?

Posted: 30 Jul 2013 08:07 AM PDT

I drive the car more often than Atala does as he prefers commuting to work using his bike. Because of this, the driving seat is adjusted to my smallie legs, as are the mirrors. This means that sometimes when we want to go out, I'm the one driving. I also love driving, and when we did our road trip I was ecstatic being let loose on the open roads.

I'll not implicate myself here, but what are speed limits when you have a flat, smooth tarmac ahead of your fresh engine on a clear, sunshiny morning? I wonder if the expression on the little boy's face mirrors that of Atala when I was pulling all those driving stunts, lol.

Seriously though, I'm a very steady driver, and most times when I drive I'm keeping well below the limits, taking turns gently, and parking smoothly. But sometimes, even when I'm being my angelic driver self, I catch Atala flinching with the tail of my eye. So what gives?

What do you think? Are women safer or more daring drivers than men? Or is that no matter how good and placid they are, men have this inbuilt belief that women drivers are incompetent and will have an accident at the smallest opportunity?

Pope Francis Says "Who am I to Judge" Gays?

Posted: 30 Jul 2013 10:01 AM PDT

The comments made by Pope Francis about gay people reminded me of one of the questions I answered in a recent interview. In reply to a question about the bill signed by the Nigerian house of assembly making homosexuality illegal, I said it was about "a few influential people using their positions to try to force the rest of us to do what they like."

According to the Wall Street Journal, the Pope's comments about homosexuality came in the context of a question about Roman Catholic priests who are gay.

"Who am I to judge a gay person of goodwill who seeks the Lord?" the pontiff said, speaking in Italian. "You can't marginalize these people."

Like someone said on a thread in my timeline -

Sooner or later, hopefully sooner than later, we will all learn to stop using our religious faith as a tool for carrying out our own personal agenda of hate and judging others. None of us is born perfect but complete. Just because somebody is one way and chooses to be other than we are, or like, does not mean we should hate, judge, or marginalize them for who they are. It is hoped that the hundreds of millions of followers this humble Pope heads will see this through him and begin a much needed "mind makeover" in the right direction, to love first and ask questions for the purpose of understanding, not judging, later. - Sunny Azikiwe Ebegbuzie

The Bible and Christianity is about love above all. I salute the new pope for his courage in speaking out on this issue and extending a positive loving hand to all children of God irrespective of their sexuality. Who are we to judge indeed?

Dear Myne - How Can I Convince Him To Pay Child Support?

Posted: 30 Jul 2013 01:07 AM PDT

Hello ma'am, How are you? I will be glad if you can be of assistance. I have a challenge. How do you discuss with a man who abandoned his wife and children for over 4 years now to take up his responsibility. How can he be alive, calls himself a lawyer of 22years post call, patronizes online sex traders, etc but doesn't take care of his two children in any way please?

I wish to remain anonymous but throw this question open for all to discuss and suggest.

The guy's name is ___________. They live in Nigeria and their mum alone takes care of accommodation, school feeding, clothing, health care. He does absolutely NOTHING.

He's member of your LinkedIn so maybe you can prevail on him to at least give his children some allowances to cover feeding. Thank you.

Red Palm Oil As A Moisturizer For Dry Afro Hair

Posted: 30 Jul 2013 12:08 AM PDT

Red Palm Oil is also great for dry hair. Especially natural afro-textured hair. It moisturizes dry hair giving it shine, bounce, softness and manageability w/o being heavy or weighing the hair down. The hair's ends retains softness and bounce.

Red Palm Oil should be used in moderation as a leave-in conditioner on the hair and you won't need the use of water, oil, butters, or cream-based hair lotions to moisturize your hair. Your hair will stay moisturized and shiny for about a week or so, especially if it is in a protective style.

RPO is red in color and does not go on clear like other yellow or golden colored oils. It stains yellow like curry or tumeric so it is best to cover hair when sleeping or use an old towel/t-shirt if using this as an oil rinse or in a conditioner or shampoo. So don't slather it on your hair as it will drip all over.

It is semi-solid and has a buttery but faint carroty smell so if used to moisturize/condition hair, it is best to use pin sized drops when moisturizing hair so that the smell won't be overpowering since it smells more buttery than carroty.
Other than that, I recommend this over coconut oil, argan oil or any other oil for moisture, shine, softness and bounce to combat dry, dull looking, damaged hair.

I've just tried this oil on my hair because I'm a Doubting Thomas. I wanted to prove it doesn't work. So 3 days later, I took down one of my twists to see whether there would be breakage and/or dryness (I'd used pin drops in case the oil wasn't adaptable to my hair). To my surprise my hair is soft, shiny, bouncy and moisturized which is totally unbelievable for my textured hair. Even my ends were soft! I took down a few more twists and saw the same results. I should say this has never happened to my hair before. Perhaps it's the rich mounts of Vitamin E that's in the oil compared to less in other oils.

As a natural, I've tried everything and nothing worked. Moisturizing shampoo/conditioner dried out my hair/ends, even those that were natural and sulfate free. Coconut oil and argan oil or my other oil combinations had to be applied every day or so to keep my hair moisturized and the ends from breaking but they never gave my hair shine. Organic Apple Cider Vinegar or Water/glycerin kept my hair soft and dull looking but never shiny.

I never go around writing on blogs commenting or recommending anything for hair as everyone's hair is different and has different needs. However, I will recommend this for those who have dry damaged hair and want soft, shiny, bouncy moisturized hair.
