Chief Zebrudaya was among the 700 students who matriculated last weekend at the Enugu Study Centre of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), and he is enrolled studying Business Management He told news men that his reason for deciding to go to school at his age was because" age is no barrier to education. He later spoke about his new life with the woman. The Child-groom– now 9 years old – Saneie Masilela is the world's youngest groom for the second time after remarrying the 62-year-old woman he married last year. Although other villagers and onlookers describe the nuptials as "sickening", the young groom dressed in a silver tuxedo says he did it again to make the marriage "official". No minding the 53-year-age gap, they repeated their vows a year later in front of 100 guests. His bride Helen Shabangu is a mother of 5, with children aged between 28 and 38 years old. The ceremony took place in front of Helen's long-term husband Alfred Shabangu. He said "My kids and I are happy because we don't have a problem with her marrying the boy – and I don't care what other people say." Both families claim the wedding is a simply "ritual" after the young school boy was told by his dead ancestors to wed last year. The boy however hopes he would have a proper wedding to a woman his age in the future. "I told my mother that I wanted to get married because I really did want to. I'm happy that I married Helen – but I will go to school and study hard. When I'm older I will marry a lady my own age. I chose Helen because I love her and, although we don't live together all the time, we meet at the dumping site where my mother works regularly." Helen also told reporters that she is excited that Saneie chose her. "One day Sanele would grow normally and have family of his own and get married one day, all this ceremony is for making ancestors happy. We are playing." she said. The young boy's mother is also fine with the wedding, telling journalists; "He was just happy to get married, very excited and was not embarrassed about it. So much so he wanted to do it again. The crack head looking overly piereced and tatooed girl who uses the Facebook name Slimzy Sharp blinks, claims she is from Louisiana, New Orleans but resides in New York…  Apparently, I would have minded my business as usual but, I just couldn't help dishing it on here before she deletes! This time, it's not for an attention-grabbing role in a blockbuster movie, but the real-life drama that played out in the actress' marital home recently. We can authoritatively reveal that the fair-skinned role-interpreter was almost chased out of her matrimonial home, but for the grace of God. An inside source revealed that the actress' husband, Adewale Onitilo, returned from his United States of America base only to meet an empty house. Even though the hubby had been inundated with countless tales of his wife's escapades around town, he chose to turn a deaf ear to them. We learnt that Onitilo called his darling wife, Bukky, with his American mobile phone number, and asked for her whereabouts. In response, the source disclosed, Bukky said that she was at home, unknown to her that Adewale was already at his Ajah, Lagos residence. Posted: 18 Jul 2014 08:17 AM PDT  The crowd at the Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, capital of Osun State, southwest Nigeria, on Thursday, comprising mainly of women, showed their appreciation through singing, dancing and prayers for the incumbent Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola. Aregbesola's administration will give out N375 million as cash in aid of women who head households in the state. Apart from giving the women monthly stipends, they will be trained in vocations common to their territory and at the end of the 12th month, they will each be given a seed money to start small scale business. The only condition attached to the benefitting households was that they should make use of government infrastructure – meaning pregnant women in such households should make use of government health facilities while their children attend government schools. Also, at the event, new ultra-modern hand-held ultrasound diagnostic scanners (touch screen) and mirror-3d (colour) dopller ultrasound diagnostic scanners were launched. Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola acknowledges his mammoth supporters Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola acknowledges his mammoth supporters According to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Aregbesola on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Abdullah Adeyanju Binuyo, under whose office the programme was executed, tagged the programme: Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT). "From which ever way you look at it, the people are the winners. They are not only the direct beneficiaries but also all the positive multiplier effects of the programme come back as plus for the people," the SSA said. "We give out N5,000 monthly to the head of each benefitting household which is a woman. That is the cash aspect. Residents of the benefitting households must make use of government facilities, that is the condition. The transfer aspect is that the money given out will be spent in the state, that is ploughing back the money into the state economy thereby contributing to its development. At the end of the 12th month, each head of the benefitting household will get N100,000 to start small scale businesses of their own. Remember that the pregnant women are treated free at government hospitals while the children enjoy not only free education but they also get free school uniform and are fed free. So the people are the ultimate winners of this programme." The state Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Mrs. Mofolake Adegboyega, stated that the benefitting households were not picked at random. "They were selected through a thorough research by the consultant we employed to do so and the consultant who is also a woman, is a Professor at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife. It took her six months of criss cross the nooks and crannies of this state to arrive at the list of beneficiaries," she explained. According to her, the pilot scheme involve five local government areas in the state with 100 from each local government. A total of 2,250 households will benefit from this programme," she said. Governor Aregbesola said the scheme restated the commitment of his administration to making life better for the generality of the people of the state. "With all sense of modesty, I want to say that there is no household in Osun State that our administration has not touched positively," he said. According to him, the programme was the pilot programme, assuring that, it will spread to other local governments in the state. "You have not seen anything yet. We want to ensure that poverty is reduced to the barest minimum in this state. That is why our programme is anchored on the development of our people," he assured. Speaking on the scanners, the governor stated that they were procurred to ensure reduction in maternal mortality and reduce incidence of stroke in the state. "The first scanner will scan pregnant women and detect the position of the unborn baby for any necessary medical action if there is need, while the second scanner detects early stroke symptoms in people for early medication," Aregbesola explained. The governor was emphatic in the mode of operation of the two health facilities: "pregnant women and others that will make use of these facilities will not pay any money – it is free". The programme climaxed with the handing over of the N375 million cheque to the heads of the benefitting households and the commissioning of the ultra-modern, ultrasound scanners. The killing of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) pastor by the Boko Haram sect in troubled Borno state has thrown the church into mourning and apprehension. The pastor, Taiwo Dokun was killed in the insurgents attack on Dille village in Askira-Uba local government area of the state on Monday. According to some members of RCCG who spoke to journalists in Maiduguri, the whereabouts of the late pastor's wife and three children is not yet known. "The family could have been abducted by the insurgents who took away many of the residents of the town as the family members were not found since the attack and have not called any one. "Though their residence was completely razed by the insurgents, their corpses were not found in the debris," one of the church members who preferred anonymity told journalists. Speaking from Dille on Friday, Jacob Mamza narrated how the pastor was killed in the attack which claimed 45 lives. He said "the pastor was in his house at about 6am when the insurgents attacked the village, his house was surrounded by the hoodlums and while attempting to run he was shot. "Pastor Taiwo was running to a neighbour's house and it was in the course of his fleeing that he was shot in the head and the chest and the insurgent equally came to butcher him to make sure that he was dead." | Posted: 18 Jul 2014 08:20 AM PDT  Barry and Izzy Sim were planning to travel to Kuala Lumpur with their young baby on Flight MH17 but were told by staff at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport that the plane was too full. The family was then given seats on a later KLM flight, just hours before the plane was shot down. "You get this sick feeling in the pit of your stomach... We started getting butterflies. Your heartbeat starts going.' Barry Sim said of his reaction after he heard the plane he desperately wanted to board was shot down. His wife said; 'There must have been someone watching over us and saying "you must not get on that flight".' The couple later cancelled their flight with KLM after the women refused to fly. Meanwhile U.S intelligence has confirmed that the plane was shot down by pro-Russian separatists who mistook the jetliner for a Ukraine military plane. And it is a Russian-made weapon. | Veteran actor Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello Celebrates 50-years On Stage! Posted: 18 Jul 2014 08:20 AM PDT  Nollywood Veteran actor Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello has revealed plans for the celebration of his 50th year in the entertainment industry. The actor has picked September 25th and 28th for the celebration of his landmark achievement which has seen him become one of the most successful actors in Nigeria. The celebration would kick off on 25th of September 2014, at the Agip Recital hall of the Muson centre, Onikan Lagos, with a stage play titled "Oloko Oba" (King's Name sake) and the grand party will hold on Sunday September 28th at Time Square event centre Ikeja Lagos. According to Oga Bello, "it feels good to look back and see how far I've come and it sure calls for celebration. According to information gathered, the stage play is directed by Abiodun Abbey and it x-rays the story of a wicked king who derives pleasure in terrorising his people. | Over 20 Pregnant women rescued from baby factory in Abia by NSCDC! I know the name Laniyan is not a special one but Antar is peculiar. Some years back, a pregnant woman had a rival who wanted to marry her husband at all cost. This rival went diabolical to make sure the pregnant woman, my mother, did not give birth to me. And after staying 18months in my mother's womb, they made some findings and it was revealed that my mother had to beg this rival for me to come to life. Getting to my mother's rival, she said they had to look for a goanna. Goanna is an animal called Aworinwo in Yoruba language but typical Yorubas call Goanna 'Antar'. So, they used the Antar or goanna to make concoction for my mother. After some hours, I came to life and my mother decided to name me 'Antar' after the animal. What was your father's reaction to you being named after an animal ? My father loved the name. After all, my mother didn't know he was loved by another woman and the woman could come out to say she was the cause of my mother's trouble. Would you say acting has made you a fulfilled person? Yes, but not in terms of money. I enjoy and derive pleasure in what I am doing and God has been good to me in my choice of career. Money wise, I am not close to the target. Many people see me on screen and believe this man is making it big but when I consider what I have in my pocket , I know Antar is poor (laughs). How then do you intend to make money? Well, if I get good investors who are willing to pump money into my projects and I am given money equal to the strength I pour into directing and acting films, then the money will come. How long have you been acting? I started acting at age 15, right from my secondary school days, but I started professionally in June 18, 1980 when I met Ben Tomoloju who was then a journalist. He predicted I was going to do well and better in acting rather than as a soldier, which I earlier wanted to be. Again , all thanks to my principal, late now, and Ben Tomoloju, still living. Whenever I get an award, I dedicate it to him. Who are your contemporaries in the film industry? Sola Fosudo, Richard Mofe Damijo, Nobert Young, Yinka Quadri, Taiwo Hassan and others. Though most of them are older in age, but these are my people. Why did you dump English movies for the Yoruba ones? I didn't dump English movies, I just did something for Afriwood . It is only that you go where you are invited. Would you say not being invited like before could be traced to tribalism ? Partially yes, at first, I saw it as marginalisation but when I started directing Super Story, Wale Adenuga and myself allowed anybody, be it Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa in as much as you are good in the act to be part of the soap. This went a long way to kill tribalism or marginalisation in the industry. What is your take on the dominance of the English speaking sector in Nollywood? I don't agree to that but maybe because they are well paid which gives the chance to do more publicity. The more noise you make, the bigger your fame. Also, we have more Igbos in the English sector and they are known for helping one another. That is a tradition the Yorubas lack. Do you think the English actors are making more money than the Yorubas ? In the past, yes, but not anymore. But if truly they are making more money than the Yorubas, I wish to be invited to confirm that . The market is very competitive at the moment. Which is more rewarding; being a producer, director, or an actor? It depends on what the individual wants. If you want money, producer. If what you want is fame, go for acting and if you want to be fulfilled artistically, then choose directing. How do you handle female fans? I have a cordial relationship with my fans. I make sure a fan feels appreciated. I could go as far as parking my car to greet a fan or even a hug if needed. Has your wife ever been intimidated by your popularity and advances from female friends? No, my wife is a very strong woman and I appreciate her a lot. But there was a day I was in the car with her and a woman blew me a kiss from a commercial bus. While doing that she nearly fell off the bus. My wife laughed and alarmed at the same time that the woman would fall off. My wife is understanding, she would even tell me if I didn't make a romance scene look real. So these days, I do them well without holding back, knowing I have an understanding wife. Was there any point you ever regretted choosing acting as a career? Yes, there was a time my wife was to undergo an operation to have our child and I couldn't be there with her because of my job.I just signed the papers and left because my director, Andy Amenechi, was waiting on set, the film was "Strange woman" and there was no phone to even know how she was faring. I got to the hospital around 2am and thank God, mother and child were okay. Also, even as the first child, I was not there to bury my father when he died because I was on set and the show must continue. These are times I feel sad about the shortcomings attached to my choice of career. There is always trouble in Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners ANTP, why? Everything is calm now but recently somebody I mean Ashaolu was declared a winner of an election that didn't take place. That was the reason for the last crisis. People felt cheated as this was the reason Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria TAMPAN was created. Funny enough,most people that are members of TAMPAN are also members of ANTP. What measures are to be taken to prevent things like this? People should learn to do things in the right manner. I mean constitutionally. Would you agree that Nollywood is promoting pornography and indecent dressing among our youths? I will only agree when you say a part of Nollywood. For indigenous actors, we emphasize on movies that promote our culture, religion , tradition and our type of society. I will not do a movie I know parents will not want their kids to see. Here are photos of some of the 295 passengers including 80 kids who perished in the Malaysian MH17 aircraft which was blown out of the sky above Ukraine. The Boeing 777 aircraft was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it was hit by a sophisticated surface-to-air missile over territory near Donetsk held by pro-Russian rebels who the Ukrainian government says are backed by the Kremlin.
