| AT LAST! Nigerian military sights abducted schoolgirls in 3 Boko Haram camps (Photo) Posted: 21 May 2014 03:07 PM PDT According To Premium Times Read below...
Nigeria's Special Forces from the Army's 7th Division have sighted and narrowed the search for the more than 250 abducted Chibok schoolgirls to three camps operated by the extremist Boko Haram sect north of Kukawa at the western corridors of the Lake Chad, senior military and administration officials have said. "It has been a most difficult but heroic breakthrough," one senior military official said in Abuja. That claim was supported by another senior commander from the Army's 7th Division, the military formation created to deal with the insurgency in the Northeast. The 7th Division is headquartered in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital. 
The news is also key for the Maiduguri-based 7th Division a week after a humiliating mutiny by troops of its 101 battalion who fired at the General Officer Commanding the division, Ahmadu Mohammed, a Major General.
Maj. Gen. Mohammed escaped unhurt, but has since been redeployed. The soldiers blamed him for the deaths of at least four of their colleagues killed near Chibok, a remote community in Borno State where the girls were taken captives April 14.
But military insiders said Mr. Mohammed was targeted for daring to arrest the growing indiscipline within his troop.
The abductions have sparked international outrage, with the United States, United Kingdom, France and Israel, providing intelligence and surveillance assistance.
Nigerian military officials coordinating the search and other officials in Abuja said Boko Haram insurgents split the girls into batches and held them at their camps in Madayi, Dogon Chuku and Meri, all around the Sector 3 operational division of the Nigerian military detachment confronting the group's deadly campaign.
Another source said there is a fourth camp at Kangarwa, also in Borno State. That claim could not be independently verified.
"Our team first sighted the girls on April 26 and we have been following their movement with the terrorists ever since," one of our sources said.
"That's why we just shake our heads when people insinuate that the military is lethargic in the search for the girls."
The location of the abducted girls – north east of Kukawa – opens a new insight into the logistic orientation of Boko Haram, responsible for thousands of deaths in a five-year long insurgency. President Goodluck Jonathan said the group has killed at least 12,000 people so far – that's minus the hundreds killed in a car bomb on Tuesday in Jos and the about 10 murdered on Sunday in Kano in a suicide bombing.
But the details established by the military shows that while the world's attention is focused on the Sambisa forest reserves, about 330 kilometres south of Maiduguri, the terrorists mapped a complex mission that began at Chibok, and veered north east of Sambisa, before heading to west of Bama and east of Konduga.
With the sighting, officials fear that Boko Haram militants may be seeking to create new options of escape all the way to Lo-gone-Et Chari in Cameroon to its Southeast, Lake Chad to its east and Diffa in Niger Republic to its north, providing a multiple escape options in the event of hostile ground operations against it.
Notwithstanding the sighting, the government is said not to be considering the use of force against the extremists, a choice informed by concerns for the safety of the students.
But with growing local and international pressure, a likely option may be for the authorities to enter into talks with the group, whose leader, Abubakar Shekau, in a May 12 video broadcast, called for dialogue and "prisoner" swap with the government.
The government has ruled out that option in the open but knowledgeable sources in Abuja hinted at a possible "twin track" approach that includes open rejection and a closet engagement.
"That option is not as bitter as you think in the face of the alternatives confronting us," the source who has deep insight on the thinking of the administration, said.
"Government is working hard to free the girls in less than one week, possibly before end of this week," the source said.
Defence spokesperson, Chris Olukolade, a Major General, told PREMIUM TIMES he would not comment on the ongoing rescue operation.
"You don't expect me to tell you that the girls have been sighted or have not been sighted," Mr. Olukolade said. "I will only say our team are working hard and taking note of every information provided to ensure that our girls are rescued without delay."
Civic leader Shehu Sani who fired a letter to the Sultan of Sokoto and leader of Nigeria's Muslim, however told PREMIUM TIMES that what must be done urgently is for the Sultan to summon all the influential Islamic clerics with credibility in the north and use them to reach out to the insurgents to release the girls.
"As far as I know this has not been done and to expect the committee [headed by former army intelligence chief, Major General Sani Bako] now working to determine the situation of the Chibok abduction to help on this will be a waste of time," Mr. Sani said.

| UNBELIEVABLE! Chinese Father Beats His Daughter To Death For Copying Classmate’s Homework! Posted: 21 May 2014 09:24 AM PDT  An 11-year-old girl in China was beaten to death by her father for copying a classmate's homework, state-run media said Wednesday.
The man "ordered the girl to kneel down, tied her hands and beat her", the official Xinhua news agency reported.
The father took her to hospital after she stopped breathing but she died the next day, Xinhua said.
Doctors at the hospital in Hangzhou found bruises and injuries on the girl's neck and back and signs she had been choked for as long as five minutes, the Xiandai Jinbao said.
The incident is the latest in a series of child abuse incidents in China that have drawn widespread outrage.
Earlier this month, graphic photos of a 10-year-old boy in Guangdong province who had allegedly been beaten by his step-mother went viral on Chinese social media, with many users calling for stricter laws against child abuse.
Last year, a six-year-old boy in the northern Chinese province of Shanxi was found near his home covered in blood and with his eyes removed. The boy's aunt, who was a suspect in the case, killed herself days later.
Chinese parents often put heavy pressure on their children over their schooling, and a study last week blamed the country's exam-driven education system -- where progress depends on key tests -- for the vast majority of pupil suicides.
In January last year, a student in Inner Mongolia jumped from the top of a building after learning that his test scores had dropped, the China Daily said.

Sheila went on the game four years ago after struggling with loneliness following the death of her second husband, aeronautical engineer Noel Coupe, in 2004.

'I don't think I will ever stop,' Sheila says ahead of appearing on new Channel 4 documentary My Granny The Escort.
Speaking about her male clients, she said: 'They see something about me. It is a nice feeling.
'Often men call me up and say, "Will you please go on talking because you are turning me on." I know I am very, very s*xy.'
Attempting to explain why she's a granny on the game, she added: 'The most important reason is because I love s*x. Even thinking about it makes me feel better.
'It doesn't just begin with s*x, there is companionship too. I have been on my own for nine years and I do get lonely. I love the companionship of gentlemen. I really have no inhibitions.'
Unfortunately when it emerged Waissel's grandmother was an escort, her family didn't take it too well.
But Sheila defiantly adds: 'You would have thought I had committed a murder. They couldn't believe I could do something like that.

| Boko Haram Member talks to CBS News, Warns of Another Mass Kidnapping! [PHOTOS + VIDEOS] Posted: 21 May 2014 07:23 AM PDT In a rare interview published this morning by CBSNews.com, an alleged Boko Haram member spoke to correspondent and CBS News contributor Debora Patta and he revealed that the group is planning another mass kidnapping.
He calls himself Saleh Abubakar and though he had been reluctant to talk to CBS News, Saleh reportedly told CBS that he's been a member of Boko Haram for seven years.
"We go to their school and attack some of soldiers and policemen," he said. But when asked why his group decided to target schoolgirls, Abubakar abruptly ended the interview,
asking for a safer, indoor location. He told CBS News he'd seen the girls three weeks ago, and they were being well cared for.
"Some of them will complain of headache; we have medicine," he said, when asked if any of the girls were sick. We have everything in the place where we keep them." Asked if any had been sold into marriage, he replied, "We do not marry them."
He said the girls had converted to Islam -- willingly, he claimed. As a result, they'd been spared being sold into slavery, as the group's leader had threatened.
"We didn't make them convert to Islam by force, just by preaching, you understand," he said. When pressed on whether abducting the girls and forcing them to convert to Islam is the same as forcing them, he said,
"As I tell you, we are not forcing anyone to accept Islam. We are just preaching to them." He said the girls would be held captive until the Nigerian government released Boko Haram fighters from prison.
"If Allah wish, nothing will happen to them," he said. "But we ask the government if they don't release our brothers, we are not going to release them." Asked whether the girls will be killed if the government does not release the prisoners, he replied:
"I will not tell you what we are going to do." Abubakar also told CBS News the abductions had been planned for three months before they happened, and he warned that Boko Haram intends to kidnap more schoolgirls. The surveillance drones which Nigeria bought from Israel years ago that might have been used to hunt for the more than 200 girls held by Islamist rebels, have been left grounded due to poor maintenance, two official sources and the aircraft's manufacturer said.
"To the best of our knowledge, these systems are not operational," Tsur Dvir, Marketing Officer for Aeronautics Defense Systems, a firm based south of Tel Aviv that supplied Nigeria with Aerostar unmanned aerial vehicles, said yesterday.
A Nigerian government source and a former military attaché to Nigeria confirmed the information, although they said details were sketchy owing to the secretive nature of Israeli-Nigerian military cooperation.
Failure to maintain equipment is seen as one reason why Nigeria's military has been unable to quell the militants.
Meanwhile, the Federal Government has formally asked the United Nations Security Council al Qaeda sanctions committee to blacklist the Islamist sect, Boko Haram, after the kidnap of hundreds of schoolgirls, UN diplomats said yesterday.
Israel last week sent intelligence and hostage negotiation officers to Nigeria to work alongside U.S., British and French experts helping the Nigerian authorities in the search, an Israeli official said yesterday.
"These are not operational troops, they are there to advise," the Israeli official said, speaking on condition of anonymity
Dvir, speaking on the sidelines of a conference organised by Israel Defense magazine, told newsmen that since the drones were purchased several years ago, Nigerian clients had not commissioned Aeronautics to carry out any routine maintenance.
Dvir said: "We did receive an inquiry from them about spare parts, but it never turned into a deal. I wish it had."
He argued that with their extensive flying range and thermal cameras capable of picking up body heat at night, the Aerostars could have helped scour northern Nigeria for the missing girls.
"They (drones) are probably parked in a yard somewhere."
Obsolete equipment
Dvir did not say how many Aerostars were bought by Nigeria. Nigeria's defense spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.
The former attaché said the deal was struck in 2006, with a view to deploying the drones in the oil producing Niger Delta, where militants were attacking crude pipelines and kidnapping oil workers before the amnesty programme. They never flew.
Last December, Nigeria also unveiled a locally-made drone at an Air Force base in Kaduna, although it has not flown since.
A government adviser said the Israeli drones were among many procurements that quickly went obsolete owing to lack of maintenance.
Neither source nor the company knew how many had been bought, but an aerospace industry source said they each would have been worth between $15 million and $17 million.
The U.S. military is already flying manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft over Nigeria to look for the girls.
Nigeria's request
If there is no objection by the 15-member council committee, which operates by consensus, Boko Haram will be sanctioned at 3 p.m. tomorrow, the council diplomats said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
"It is difficult to object to such a request by the concerned country," said one of the council diplomats.
Until recently, Nigeria has been reluctant to seek international assistance in combating Boko Haram. The document submitted by Nigeria to support its blacklisting request references a bomb attack on the United Nations' Nigeria headquarters on Augus 26, 2011, that killed 24 people, diplomats said.
It also describes a "campaign of violence against Nigerian schools and students" by the group and references other attacks on schools last year, according to diplomats.
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, ordered the deployment of additional troops to the North-East region to strengthen the military force in the fight against insurgency in the region.
The Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr. Mike Omeri, who disclosed this in Abuja, while briefing newsmen on the security challenges in some parts of the country, also confirmed bomb explosion that rocked Terminus Market, yesterday afternoon, in Jos, Plateau State capital.
Omeri said: "President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the deployment of additional troops to reinforce the ongoing military operations in the North-East part of the country.
"This action comes in the wake of the regional alliance to checkmate the activities of Boko Haram in the region and also strengthen the efforts to rescue the missing girls."
Speaking further on international alliance, Omeri said that structures had been put in place to coordinate the activities of the aligned countries.

Human Skull Found Inside A Church Ceiling In Lagos Posted: 21 May 2014 04:58 AM PDT Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions said 49-year-old Samson Adeneye and a woman, Oyerinde Olawunmi, 48, have a case to answer in a matter in which a human skull was found in the ceiling of an orthodox church in Lagos.
Two policemen attached to Special Anti-robbery Squad – ASP Franklin Alade and Cpl Deleojo Odunayo – were also implicated in the matter, for abuse of office.
A human skull was found in the ceiling of the St. Peter Cherubim and Seraphim church on Moses Adebisi Street, in the Ketu area of Lagos.Prior to the incident, Adeneye and Olawunmi, who were former members of the church, were said to have sent threat text messages to some of the church's ministers. The two suspects were said to have accused the pastors of occultism and threatened to deal with them and kill them. Both suspects had alerted the two SARS officers that there was a case of gun-running in the assembly. And the policemen reportedly stormed the assembly without any search warrant and headed for the ceiling where they allegedly found the item.
According to Punch, further investigations by the police revealed that the two ex-embers might have arranged the object to implicate the pastors, as suggested by earlier text messages sent to them.
They were subsequently arrested and charged to Court. The matter was earlier adjourned for DPP's advice.
The DPP, in its advice signed by the Deputy Director, Adegboyega Bajulaiye, said: "After carefully considering the facts available in the duplicate case file, this office is of the view that there are sufficient facts to establish a prima facie case of conspiracy to commit felony to wit; offering violence to officiating ministers of religion, written threat to kill and publication of false news which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public...
"Facts available in the duplicate case file reveal that prior to January 19, 2013, there was a malice that brewed up over the years between Apostle Albert Samson and Samson Adeneye, which culminated into unauthorised search on the premises of Albert by men of SARS, led by ASP Franklin Alade, on the trumped-up allegation of gunrunning. This act of the police officers, which was believed to have been instigated by Adeneye, amount to abuse of office…."
The advice further stated that the two defendants had been sending death threat messages to the ministers, that were meant to distract them from their duties as ministers.
On the matter of the skull, the advice said, "There is however a strong inference from the facts in the case file that Adeneye may have been instrumental to placing ritual objects, including human skulls, on the ceiling of Albert's church because of his prior accusation of Albert being a ritualist. This will only amount to speculation and suspicion, which no matter how grave, cannot stand in the place of law, particularly in the absence of eyewitness account or unequivocal evidence of inference."
The DPP said based on findings, Adeneye and Olawunmi, should be arraigned for conspiracy to commit felony, written threat to kill and publication of false information.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected mad man for being in possession of arms and ammunition. The man was arrested on Saturday by some vigilant residents of Gowon Estate in the Ipaja area of Lagos.
"The people were curious about what he was dumping. Upon closer examination, it was discovered that the mad man emptied one locally-made double-barrel pistol and four live cartridges into the dust bin. "The youths in the community claimed they have been seeing him around the area as a mad man. He was immediately handed over to the police at Gowon Estate but under interrogation, he was not coherent in his speech. "He was later transferred to the State CID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation." The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police, Lagos State Command, DSP Ngozi Braide, disclosed this during a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria. Braide said the suspect was allegedly caught at 5th Avenue, Customs Junction, Gowon Estate, Ipaja, while trying to empty some items into a dust bin.
The police commended residents of the Gowon Estate for their vigilance and security consciousness, and urged them to continue to assist the police with useful information on suspicious movements.

ASUU, LASU begins indefinite strikes Over High Fees (See) Posted: 21 May 2014 12:52 AM PDT  Academic Staff Union of Universities, Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, branch has declared a total and indefinite strike over what it described as failure of the state government to meet its three core demands.
Chairman of the school's branch of ASUU, Dr. Idris Adekunle, said having exhausted one year of dialogue and consultations with relevant stakeholders without headway, the union decided to call out its members on a total, comprehensive and indefinite industrial action.
According to him, the three core issues to be addressed before members could return to work were the reversal of the high LASU tuition regime from N348,750 to a maximum of N50, 000 across board; repeal of the no vacancy, no promotion policy of the institution's administration and the implementation of the universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2012, which would see academic staff in the professorial cadre retire at age 70 instead of 65, in the university.
"The union met at different times with the university administration, the governing council, the Pro-Chancellor, the Chancellor, the Ad-hoc committee on the LASU crisis, the Parents' Forum, Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwanu Akiolu, Oba Babatunde Akran of Badagry, and Oba Jubrilu Rufai, the Olojo of Ojo, among other eminent personalities in the state, without resolving the core issues at stake."
"The union this year declared a trade dispute with an initial 21 day ultimatum effective from March 24 which expired April 13 and another 14-day ultimatum which expired April 29,"
