| Posted: 05 Mar 2014 10:04 AM PST  An Iranian man who poured acid on a young girl's face should be punished by having his eyes gouged out and his right ear and nose cut off, an Iranian court ruled, according to an opposition group. The group, the National Council of Resistance of Iran, said the man was convicted last October of intentionally attacking the girl with acid, causing her to lose her eyesight and right ear. Last month, another Iranian man was condemned to have one hand and one foot cut off as punishment for an unspecified crime, the state-run Mehr news agency reported. The national council said that Iran's high court has publicly defended cutting off body parts and removing eyes as part of the country's judicial system. At least 80 people and perhaps as many as 95 have been executed in Iran this year, a surge in the use of the death penalty that has dampened hopes for human rights reforms under President Hassan Rohani, the United Nations said last month. Rohani, who won a surprise election last year on a platform of more openness with the West, clinched an interim deal in November with world powers over Iran's nuclear program. In September, dozens of political prisoners were released, raising hopes that he would also improve human rights. "There were some encouraging signs last year where political prisoners were released … But it appears at least in the past seven weeks that in fact executions have been scaled up," UN human rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani told a news briefing. "We regret that the new government has not changed its approach to the death penalty and continues to impose capital punishment for a wide range of offences. We urge the government to immediately halt executions and to institute a moratorium." Last year Iran executed between 500 and 625 people, including at least 28 women and two juveniles, Shamdasani said. TOP STORIES

According to inside sources, the lover boy decided to crown their secret romance and they held their engagement at a hidden place in Ajao Estate shortly before christmas where none of the 2 family members of their parents were present. Posted: 05 Mar 2014 03:11 AM PST  A new mother who had no idea she was pregnant until she gave birth on the toilet in her parents' bathroom, has spoken of her shock at the arrival of her new son. Gaynor Rzepka, 25, gave birth to baby Olly-James on February 16 weighing a healthy 6lbs 5oz. But she said his arrival came as a complete surprise to her and her family, from Llantwit Major, Wales - adding that she had worked ten hour shifts right up until the birth and had even ran a half marathon half way through her pregnancy.  That night she woke at about 1am in pain. She said: 'I was having a really sharp pain in the side of my stomach all day and I didn't know what it was. 'The only way I can describe it is that it was like someone stabbing me in the right hand side of my groin. 'I didn't think much of it. At about 5am I felt like I needed the toilet but I couldn't go. 'I had another really sharp pain at about 5.20am and went to the toilet again. I stood up because I didn't feel right. 'I just pushed and he arrived. I caught him before he went into the toilet. 'I was really shocked.' Miss Rzepka said: 'My first words were just repeating: "Oh my God". I didn't know what else to say. I burst into tears and sat on the floor.' | Popular Fuji star Obesere arrested after lady claims he r*ped & inserted a ring inside her private Posted: 05 Mar 2014 01:49 AM PST  According to Vanguard Alhaji Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, has been arrested by the Police in Lagos State for allegedly r*ping a 29-year-old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya in his Okota residence, Lagos. The victim, who took the matter to the Police, also narrated her ordeal in the hands of the musician whose shows generally fascinate society women. According to Olaiya, a National Diploma graduate of business administration from Ibadan Polytechnic…. "I got to know Obesere through one of my friends, Mrs Bola Okoro. She told me that Obesere would assist me in my business.Vanguard gathered that Obesere was first arrested last Wednesday by the Police at Isolo Police Division, where Olaiya reported the matter. He was subsequently released on administrative bail. He was later re-arrested on Monday, when medical examination conducted on Olaiya revealed that she was actually r*ped and the Divisional Police Officer, Isolo, Adamu Ibrahim, was said to have ordered the transfer of the matter to State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation. Sources disclosed that Obesere's arrest was made possible through a warrant of arrest issued by the Chief Magistrate of Isolo Magistrate Court, Mrs Kike Bukola Ayeye, as he had declined to honour several police invitations sent to his house at Johnson Famiye Street, Canal Estate, Ago, Okota.
