Posted: 09 Feb 2014 09:32 AM PST  In an interview with Punch, when asked when P-Square would be going solo, Peter Okoye said that was never going to happen. He also took time to explain their income sharing formula, which is usually the most common reason for band breakups. Peter said: Never! We are happy and we share 50-50 of everything. If we do an album now and I am responsible for all the jobs, Paul would still get his 50 per cent. Sometimes, I would write a song and sing the first verse. Paul's voice may not be good for that second verse but you won't be able to tell the difference. |

| TOO BAD! 50-Year-Old Woman Gang-R*ped, Murdered! Posted: 09 Feb 2014 07:45 AM PST  A 50-year-old Beninoise woman was on Friday gang-r*ped and subsequently murdered in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. The incident occurred at Oniyonrin, Agbelora, where the woman, known as Mama Friday, lived in a one room apartment at the boys' quarters of a house opposite a Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria. The mother of five reportedly lived alone; while her husband, a bricklayer, worked in Ifo town, about 40 minutes drive from Abeokuta. The suspects reportedly forced their way through a window into the woman's home around midnight, r*ped and hacked her to death. When We visited the scene of the crime, police officers were seen removing the body to State Hospital Mortuary, Sokenu, Abeokuta. The sister-in-law of the deceased, who identified herself as Mariam Idowu, said she heard about the incident that morning and rushed to the apartment. Mrs. Idowu said no neighbour heard any noise while the crime occurred and that the victim, who sold pap, was only found after her fellow pap-seller came to call on her when she failed to show up for work that morning. "She is my brother's wife. The husband is a bricklayer working in Ifo while she lives here. I just got information this morning that she had been raped to death and I rushed down here," Mrs. Idowu told PREMIUM TIMES. When contacted, the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, said that four people have been arrested in connection with the case. |

Posted: 09 Feb 2014 05:10 AM PST  Yoruba actress and producer, Funke Akindele, has broken her silence on why she has not been entertaining interviews and reacting to issues pertaining to her career of late, saying that it was a deliberate decision and her management made to stay out of media glare for the time being. Funke, who is largely known as Jenifa endeared herself to many home video viewers with her popular movie, Jenifa, which opened a new chapter in her life and earned her mouth-watering endorsements. In a brief chat with tribune, Funke said "I am working on new projects now and I don't want to be in the media for the wrong reasons or for the fun of it. When I am done with the projects, I will talk about them and probably hold a press conference to clear the air on some issues,"she said. |
| Five Policemen Slumps on Parade Ground! [PHOTOS] Posted: 09 Feb 2014 04:40 AM PST  Five officers of the Nigeria Police Force slumped on Friday at the Police College, Ikeja, during a parade to mark the pulling out (retirement) of senior police officers. The event, which lasted for about two hours, was held in honour of seven retiring officers, made up of two AIGs and five commissioners. Midway into the ceremony, a policeman slumped and was quickly attended to by the paramedics, who later carried the man away in an NPF ambulance. Almost immediately after the incident, three others, including a woman, also slumped. Paramedics, who attended to them, gave them sachet water, which they drank and also poured on their heads. The fifth man that slumped was taken out of the parade ground by the medical team. The ceremony, which attracted top officers of the Police Force, was witnessed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar; the Chairman, Police Service Commission, Mike Okiro (retd), and among other dignitaries. Abubakar commended the retiring officers for their selfless service to the force and the nation. The event, which was also used to reward some officers and men of the force, was held amid tight security. The highlight of the occasion was the symbolic pulling out of the retiring officers. PUNCH |
