SHOCKER!! Three of Yinka Ayefele's Band Boys Disappear During US Tour! Posted: 19 Oct 2013 10:20 AM PDT The other members of the group arrived amidst cheers by fans, but one could tell that the leader of the band was worried; perhaps knowing the credibility question the defection by the boys could pose to his career. Reports say the 'gospel tungba' crooner, has written to the United States Homeland Security to track and deport the three guys who defected at the tail-end of the inter city concert. The band left the country on September 2, performing at Washington, Maryland, Baltimore, New York, Atlanta, Houston and Dallas. In a mail sent to the US agency, Ayefele urged the department to look for the defectors and act accordingly, so as to serve as a lesson to others. The defectors, according to a release signed by his publicist, David Ajiboye, include Ojoyido Adegbenga Ezekiel (Keyboardist), Solomon Olugbenga Motimoke (Vocalist) and Olusola Kayode Isaac (vocalist). "While Olusola Kayode Isaac defected at the LaGuardiala Airport, New York on Monday, 14th October on his way from Houston with three other members of the band, Ojoyido Adegbenga was said to have disappeared from the group at the Howard Johnson Inn on Rockaway Boulevard, New York on Tuesday, 15th October. The third man was Solomon Motimoke (Yatty), who left the band while still at Washington DC on 11th October," the statement read.

SAD NEWS!! Ooni of Ife loses 3 daughters in 6 weeks!! Posted: 19 Oct 2013 09:17 AM PDT ![]() Within just six weeks, the family of former Ooni of Ife, the late Sir Adesoji Aderemi, lost three women, all daughters of the revered former traditional ruler, reported to have wielded a lot of power and influence during his reign in the town now located in the State of Osun, western Nigeria. The three women, P.M.NEWS gathered, are Princess Tejumade Alakija, a former Head of Service in the old Western Region, Princess Teniade Areoye Adunni Omoworare and Princess Adeogun Lasekan. They all died in their old age. Princess Tejumade Alakija was the first to die on Friday, 23 August at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, after a brief illness. She was 88 years old. Until her death, Alakija, also a former Pro-Chancellor of the University of Benin, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the University of Abuja, was the head of the Adesoji Aderemi and the popular Omisore families of Osun State. Survived by Folake St. Mathew Daniel and Toyin Komolafe, her funeral slated for 8 November and, which sources say would be grand, is to be co-sponsored by the Osun and Oyo State governments in the form of a state burial because of her position and roles in the development of the two states in her life time. Preparations for her burial are said to be in top gear, with several associations, groups and indigenes of Oyo and Osun states also making her funeral a grand one. However, while the royal family was still mourning, it lost another prominent matriarch, Princess Teniade Areoye Adunni Omoworare. The late Princess Teniade and mother of a serving senator, Jide Omoworare, died on Saturday, 12 October, 2013 at the age of 82. She is also survived by Funke Oyewole, Nike Omoworare, and Segun Omoworare. Her burial has been tentatively fixed for the last week of November, P.M. NEWS learnt. Before the death of Princess Teniade, the Aderemi family had lost Princess Adeogun Lasekan, another daughter of the former Ooni. Her death occurred on 23 September, exactly a month after the death of Princess Alakija. Princess Lasekan is said to be known and loved for her philanthropic activities and charming smile. Survived by many children and grandchildren, her funeral ceremony took place last week with a burial service, which took place at the All Saints Anglican Church, Montegomery Road, Yaba while the interment was held at the Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi, Lagos. A grand reception was later held in her honour at the Shell Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

" I’ve not found the bold man that Will marry me" —Yoruba Movie Star DAyo Amusa Cries Out.. Posted: 19 Oct 2013 06:59 AM PDT Dayo Amusa is an actress. In this interview with Tribune, she talks about her career, controversies and style, among other things. How did your foray into acting really begin?I started acting in 2002 when I joined the Wemimo Olu Paul Productions in Ibadan. He (Wemimo) was one of the biggest producers back then and I registered with him. But it wasn't easy shuttling between Lagos and Ibadan, so I had to move back to Lagos, where I started going for auditions and all, before I became who I am today. What was your first major role? The first major role I played was in my first movie, Ajegbodo, in 2006. Before then, I had only featured in scenes and the closest I had got to a major lead role was in Funke Akindele's production, Agbe fo and Iyabo Ojo's movie, Omidan. What inspires your movies? My environment does. Also, my personal experience is a major inspiration for the stories that I pen down.So far, which role has been the most challenging for you? It's the role I took in my movie, Unforgiveable. This is because I play more of violent roles, so dropping that for the role I played in Unforgiveable posed a little challenge. But because I had the zeal and believed I could do it, it wasn't as difficult as I thought and people around me were really amazed at my interpretation of the role.Despite not being out yet, the movie, Unforgiveable, is making waves already in the industry. How did you put it all together? The issue of domestic violence is so rampant in the society, with stories about it coming up every now and then. That was what inspired the story line. It is a problem in the society, so that gave the story line an edge compared to others that I had written before. Also, the choice of cast was another factor that gave Unforgivable the edge as well, coupled with the fact that I put more into it in terms of technicalities, awareness and sort.Just like your previous production, Dewunmi Iberu, you featured English-speaking actors in Unforgiveable. Does that mean you believe more in them? The Yoruba sector of Nollywood is very fantastic and we have what it takes to compete with any other sector. Talking about good stories, actors and directors, we are very good at it and I believe we are all entertainers. But if I have a script and I believe it is a Hausa man that can portray the character well enough, then I'd go for him.The major reason I decided to use that cast for Unforgiveable was because I needed something to draw people's attention to the movie because of the message I wanted to pass across, and because I wanted a different thing from what I had produced in the past. Do you intend to join the English sector of Nollywood soon?I am not swerving, I am just an entertainer and I can work with anybody. If a Hausa producer calls me to play a role and I know that I can interpret it well, then I'll feature in the movie. I was made in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood and I'm not ready to forget that; neither am I ready to leave my origin just because I feel another sector could be better off. What's the worst rumour you've ever heard about yourself?I don't get myself bothered when people write stories about me – especially those that I know are untrue. When you really do something and the press gets hold of it, you might feel guilty of it; but when journalists just cook up stories to fill their pages, I feel it's better one overlooks it. It is not a problem to me and as far as I'm concerned, I care less. Also, I've come to realise that being a celebrity goes along with rumours. The name Dayo Amusa many times has been on the lips of people; it's either you're dating this person or another, or you're doing one thing or the other. What could be responsible for this?If I'm in a relationship and it doesn't work for me, I believe I have the right to opt out because I deserve to be happy. So, if I'm in a relationship and I'm not getting the happiness I desire, I can't be crucified for walking out of it. After all, I'm not married to such person. So, why is Dayo Amusa not yet married?I'll get married when I meet a man that is bold enough to date a woman like me. Women like us need special men that understand the way we need to be treated for us to settle down. If that man is not available yet, then I won't jump into marriage because people feel I should have been married now.Because I am not yet married doesn't mean I won't get married. Besides, marriage is not a do-or-die affair. Although it is honourable and it is a good thing to enjoy, if the right man is not there, I would rather remain single than find myself in a marriage that I will end up regretting. How true is the rumour that you dated KWAM 1?It's only a rumour and it is not true. Some ladies in the industry are known to bee mistresses for some society men. Unfortunately, they often date the same set of men. What's your take on that? Well, I don't fall into that category, and for those that do it, I'm sure they have their reasons. I don't think I can find myself in that situation and I have never been caught doing that. Also, some of this (rumour) might not be real, because people tend to believe that once a female celebrity gets close to a guy, then they are dating. For instance, the issue of KWAM 1 and I isn't what people think. He is someone I respect a lot because he inspires me. So, people saying that female celebrities date men they are close to can be so annoying, especially when it's not true. People have the notion that Dayo Amusa is an 'Area Girl'. Why is this so? I guess it's because of the roles I took when I started in the movie industry. I played more of violent roles and people judged my character based on this. But they are totally wrong. Aside acting, what other endeavours are you into? I'm into buying and selling, something I had started before I ventured into acting. I also run a crèche in Surulere. What prompted the single you released recently? The song, just like the movie, was an avenue to pass a message across to put a stop to domestic violence in our society. The same inspiration I had for the movie was the same I had for the song. So, it was not as if I just jumped into the music industry, but if I find myself there any time, I wouldn't object. When will the movie be out? Unforgiveable will be premiered later in the month (October) at the Silverbird Cinemas in Lagos, and it will be in all cinemas nationwide next month before it will be later released on DVD. Is there any role restriction? I can't go nude on set. What do you do or do not do at anytime? I can't compromise being happy and I don't inconvenience myself to make other people happy. So, I try as much as possible to be happy at all times. How was growing up like for you? I came from a very strict family where I was restricted from socializing. I wasn't given the opportunity to really have friends. My siblings and I were often indoors, and that has influenced my attitude even till now. I still find it a little bit difficult to make friends, except the fact that I relate equally with my colleagues and friends. I'm more of a homely person. But all the same, my childhood was splendid. I had a lot to learn that has helped me a lot in life. Who were your earliest influences? It was Sandra Achum while I was growing up. Many people felt we looked alike and I tried to do whatever she did in the movie back then. But later, I saw myself admiring the likes of Tunde Kelani and Kunle Afolayan, especially with the way they handle their productions. I see them as mentors because of their professionalism. What's your fashion sense? I am not really a fashionista. I prefer the jeans and T-shirt style. But because of the nature of my job, I have to go out of my way at times, because you don't know the kind of gathering you might find yourself in when you leave your house. How do you relax? I stay at home, watch moves and read newspapers. I also love cooking; in fact, I'm a very good cook and I love African dishes. What words do you have for your fans? I love and appreciate them, especially for those that believe in me. I give kudos to them for standing by me. They are my strength. And for those that don't believe in me, I hope they try and take a closer look at me and have a change of mind.

"One of my Rolexes price tag can give someone ‘Apollo’ " - Davido Posted: 19 Oct 2013 06:10 AM PDT Before you became a big shot, what were those days of humble beginnings in the industry like? They weren't easy – having to prove that you could do this, or that you could be big and sell records, and then not having people believe you or want to take a chance. I had some rough periods of even hungry days in the studio. Sometimes you got broke, but still just found one way or the other to pull through. I had plenty rough times. What were your childhood days like?I had a regular childhood. A whole lot of play and school, sometimes the play would just centre around music. How did your dad feel about your decision to become a recording artiste? He didn't like it at first; but eventually a man understands a man's need to do his thing and make a name for himself. Did you drop out of school because you wanted to pursue your musical career?Who says I dropped out? I'm in my third year in school. How do you combine your music with your studies successfully? Has building a profession in music affected your studies in anyway? It's not been easy, but it's working one way or the other. Being madly busy is not easy to cope with when you are studying; but it has no choice but to work out. Why did you decide to go into music?I was always going to do music as soon as I discovered my flair for it and I was working on sounds too in a studio and some of my friends used to say that I should just try doing my own thing. So, I took it up when I realised that I could actually make some decent sounds. I've always nurtured dreams of performing live, so it just had to be done. Which musicians inspire you?TuFace, PSquare and the Koko Master (Dbanj). Those guys are really something. The big things they've done in this industry are unforgettable. So, that's my drive as well – to (make) a serious impact. You travel a lot. Does your girlfriend not complain?(Laughs) If you know say I get, and you sabi am, go ask am. You mean you are not dating anyone now?No. You must have a lot of ladies trying to get your attention. How has the reception from your female fans been like? It's crazy, coupled with the fact that I am young, and with girls in my age group too. Here in Africa and in Europe, the female fan base is wild. I really appreciate it. When guys are feeling you while you perform and also the girls are gingered and sometimes crazier about you, it's cool. We have had pictures of you in bed with various kinds of ladies. How has that affected your career? If it has had any big effect on my career, I'm not sure I know about it, because I am still doing my thing and God still has my back. God did not allow some random act of one person who felt like fooling around to now spoil my career or ruin my image. Sebi they wanted to snap me (take my photograph)? They 'snapped me' and went their way…and my life goes on. That's it. What deals, endorsements, shows or recognition have you got that were quite memorable for you?MTN of course. My first advert for MTN Pulse was a big deal for me. It was a great thing to be part of. Also, my shows all over Nigeria and performing in different states make me unable to decide which one is my favourite, seriously. You perform in a state and get mad love from the crowd; and then the next state is even crazier. And that's how it just keeps going. So, my high points are those moments when my fans show dedication, and show me love like 'Ah, you be our guy; you be our man, you know? Which musicians do you dream of working with internationally? It won't be bad working with Pitbul, David Guetta, Sean Paul, and Nicki Minaj. Your dad is wealthy and influential. Would you say his wealth has been a propelling factor in your career? My father is wealthy, yes, and I am thankful to God for that. One way or the other, in my music career, there's always a point where the gratitude goes to my father and always a point where my father's wealth has been a useful factor. As for opening doors, well, maybe. But money is not everything and every part of it, behind the scenes of success is a lot of blood, sweat and tears. If you were not a musician, what other career path would you have chosen?Maybe a producer; but if you mean totally out of music, maybe one big businessman. Reports say you were caught abroad spending fake money. How did that happen?Go and ask the so called reporters whether na dem put fake currency for my hand. How does that even make sense? We were in Europe and spending good hard-earned money, even when the person we had a deal with was defaulting, and didn't want to pay us. So it was just some rubbish they cooked up to spoil our names, and get away with breaking our contract. But of course, we don pass that one, so na dem sabi. What's the most expensive thing you have ever pampered yourself with?My house! But if that doesn't count as pampering, then maybe one of my Rolexes that the price tag can give somebody 'Apollo'. You have so many tattoos. Are you just following the trend or you're doing your own thing?I feel the need to ink my skin, so I do it. Simple. It's my desire and that's all. What's the craziest thing you have ever done on stage?(Laughs) Nothing too wild; I just kissed a girl from the stage. Some of your fans complain that you don't have strong lyrics but only project the elitist life? It's what we need to drive the sounds; those kinds of lyrics are what the industry, as it is, is moved by. I can decide now to bring out the deepest of my emotions through lyrics. And you know, they will say Davido is boring. In your dull moments, what do you do to get back in line?I just make a mad beat, or take a trip to somewhere of interest. How do you relax?I go to the most exotic resorts and lounges in any country I'm currently in. Then sometimes I like to just (relax) with my headphones and just jam for hours, undisturbed.
