SHOCKER!! Angry Ethiopians attacks Nigeria team bus in Ethiopia...Nosa Igiebor injured!!

Posted: 14 Oct 2013 10:55 AM PDT

Ethiopian football fans have gone on the rampage in Addis Ababa attacking Nigerian businesses and setting cars on fire in response to what they see as the unfair loss of their national team the Walia Antelopes to the Super Eagles.

Yesterday, the Eagles beat the Antelopes by two goals to one in the first leg of a World Cup qualifier, which gives them the advantage in the two-legged tie.  However, Ethiopian fans feel robbed by the Cameroonian referee who denied them what looked like a clear goal in the 24 minute.

Halfway through the second half, Saladin Said, Ethiopia's best player, controlled a long diagonal ball well and managed to beat Nigerian goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama only to see Godfrey Oboabona clear it off the line. Video replays shows that the ball had clearly crossed the line but Cameroonian official Neant Alioum refused to give the goal.

To make matters worse for the home side, Mr Alioum awarded a 90th minute penalty against the Walia Antelopes after Ethiopian defender Hailu Aynalem needlessly dragged Emmanuel Emenike down in the penalty area. Nigeria's leading goalscorer, Emenike then got up and coolly slotted home the decisive winner.

So far, Ethiopia has had a near perfect record in the World cup qualifiers, winning all their home games and thousands of Walia Antelope fans had trooped to Addis Ababa's national stadium expecting another victory. Following the loss to the Eagles, the anger boiled over into the streets of Addis Ababa.
Nigeria's Nosa Igiebor was injured on Sunday when the team's bus was attacked in Addis Ababa after their World Cup play-off first-leg against Ethiopia.
The Real Betis midfielder needed emergency treatment on his palm after the bus windows were shattered as the team left the Addis Ababa ground.
Nigeria, who won the match 2-1, have reported the incident to Fifa.
"We hope Fifa will take an action," Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) vice-president Mike Umeh told BBC Sport.
"It's a shame that such an embarrassing behaviour could happen after a football match."
Ben Alaiya, the Super Eagles media officer, joined Umeh in condemning the actions.
Alaiya said in a press statement that fans attacked the team bus with stones after the match and one of the heavy stones shattered the rear windscreen of the bus, sending all inside the bus scampering for safety.
"Igiebor was the unlucky one as the stone slashed his right palm leading to profuse bleeding that was immediately attended to by team doctor, Ibrahim Gyaran," he wrote.
Nigeria are favourites to progress to their second straight World Cup when the two sides meet again in Calabar on 16 November.

SHOCKER!! SAD NEWS!! Suspected cultists murder final year LASPOTECH student!!

Posted: 14 Oct 2013 10:22 AM PDT

New Balogun Street

A final year student of Lagos State Polytechnic, Ibrahim Oluwaseun, 26, has been killed by suspected cult members at his parents' home in Somolu area of Lagos. The deceased, a student of Business Administration, was said to  have been preparing to defend his final year project this week when he was killed on Friday night.
Our correspondent also gathered that the deceased was sitting with his mother outside their home on New Balogun street, when he was shot around 9pm.
An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, said the gunmen were about seven.
He said, "They were seven in number; they came to the area fully armed. All those guys were strangers to us but have been coming to the area for some time now. Nobody knew exactly what they were up to.
"That night, they confronted the boys in the area with guns and immediately people saw them, they ran for their lives.
"They shot at Oluwaseun who was with his mum outside their house. It wasn't as if Oluwaseun was involved in any fight. He fell into the gutter immediately he was shot, just as everybody tried running for cover."
PunchNg gathered that in the ensuing confusion, neither of Oluwaseun's neighbours nor relatives, witnessed his fall into the gutter. It wasn't until after the confusion had subsided that residents allegedly observed that Oluwaseun was nowhere to be found.
Another source told us that the Divisional Police Officer, Somolu Station, responding to a distress call on the shooting, drafted some patrol teams to the area.
He said, "Two patrol vehicles were sent to the area but even while the police patrolled the streets, no one noticed that Oluwaseun was in the gutter. Perhaps he might have survived the shooting if he had been discovered on time."
Oluwaseun was said to have been discovered, few minutes after the shooting; by then, he was already dead. His corpse was said to have been recovered from the gutter by the police and taken to the Gbagada General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
When our correspondent visited the scene a day after the incident, there was an uneasy calm on the street; shops were under lock and key.
While a candlelight procession was held in the deceased's honour on Saturday, there were fears among residents of more attacks. At the Oluwaseuns' residence, visitors poured in to condole with the deceased's family and pay tribute to his memory. His distraught mother was said to be unavailable for comments.
However, a close friend of the family, Alhaja Modupeola Kazeem, described  Oluwaseun as gentle and an easygoing young man.
Kazeem said, "I was shocked on hearing the news because I am like a second mother to him. I was one of the people who brought him up; he was a cheerful person who never made trouble. We were all surprised how those guys just came and shot at him without any provocation. Ibrahim was just a victim; he was never part of any bad group."
She added that Oluwaseun had been buried on Saturday in accordance with Muslim rites.
The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, confirmed the incident to our reporter on the telephone. He said, "There was indeed an incident on Friday night in which some suspected cultists shot one Oluwaseun in Somolu. Police immediately swung into action. They saw him lying down and he was rushed to the hospital where he died. We are investigating the case to ensure we bring the culprits to book."

A woman approached actress Yvonne Jegede on her way to get groceries in Ajao Estate recently, saying how she is a big fan of her movies. The woman later cried and pleaded for assistance; she said she and her children had been living in a church, and barely had food to eat. Yvonne followed her to where her children were and after seeing their condition decided to help her. A week later Yvonne and her friend movie producer Chinneylove payed them a visit and gave them food stuff. They also gave them money to rent a place to stay.

INCREDIBLE!! Flying CAR makes history by taking its first public flight - Goes on Sale 2015 for N48 Million!!

Posted: 14 Oct 2013 08:35 AM PDT

This shot shows the Transition plane switching from 'drive' mode to 'fly' mode.

A flying car from Massachusetts-based firm Chas made its first public flight, soaring for 20 minutes in front of aviation enthusiasts in Wisconsin.
The Transition vehicle is part-sedan, part-private jet and is due to go on sale as early as 2015.
It was driven around the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh air show in July before transitioning into the jet and taking off on two 20-minute flight demonstrations.

A flying car from Massachusetts-based firm Terrafugia has made its first public flight, soaring for 20 minutes over Winsconsin.
The Transition is part-sedan, part-private jet and is due to go on sale as early as 2015.

TRANSITION SPECIFICATIONS

The Transition can reach speeds of around 70 miles per hour on the road and 115 in the air.
It flies using a 23-gallon tank of automotive fuel and burns 5 gallons per hour in the air. On the ground, it gets 35 miles per gallon.
It has rear-wheel drive when on the road.
The Transition comes with two passenger airbags, and a full-vehicle parachute.
Terrafugia's Transition has been in development for seven years and during flight testing last year, it successfully flew for eight minutes.
The Terrafugia has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car.
It can carry two people, including the pilot, plus luggage and runs on unleaded petrol.
In a statement, the company said: 'Terrafugia made a dream come true at this year's EAA AirVenture Oshkosh.
'The Transition performed its first public demonstrations for the aviation community during the show.
'Flown and driven by Phil Meteer, our Chief Test Pilot and Flight Test Coordinator, the Transition showed the crowd what it's capable of.

'The 20-minute demonstrations included flight manoeuvres over the show centre, converting from airplane to car, and driving along the flight line.'
Transition is considered to be a light sports plane by the U.S Federal Aviation Administration, as well as being a road car.
Owners will have to have pilot's licenses, and will need to pass a test, plus complete 20 hours of flying time to be able to fly the car.

Despite the advances in technology the Transition demonstrates, critics have said that it is still not the vision of flying cars seen in many sci-fi films.
To answer these critics, Terrafugia also released designs for a TF-X Model of its Transition range in May.
The TF-X model will be small enough to fit in a garage and won't need a runway to take off.
Whereas the Transition requires a runway, the TF-X can take off from a vertical position because of motorised rotors on the wings.
These rotors will work in a similar way to helicopter rotors.
This shot was taken by a camera fixed to one of the Transition's wing during its public flight over Wisconsin

Being able to take off from standstill means owners will be able to go from the road to the air straight from their driveways, car parks and even when stuck in traffic.
Although you will still need at least 100 feet in diameter in order to open the wings.
According to Terrafugia, the vehicle will carry four people 'in car-like comfort'.
It is expected to be able to fly, nonstop, for 500 miles.
Refuelling: A Terrafugia test pilot fills up the Transition flying car with petrol. The Transition can hold 23 gallons of usable fuel and uses 5gph during flight

When the TF-X is in drive mode, the wings fold into the side of the car and the rotors, which make it possible to take off in the TF-X from standing still, also fold away and tuck into the chassis

When the wings are folded away the TF-X will be small enough to fit in a single-car garage
The TF-X model has not been tested yet, and prices haven't been announced.
Terrafugia hopes to have working models of the TF-X available for sale within eight to 12 years.
Like with the Transition, pilots will need 20 hours of flying and a pilot's licence to drive it, though.
The flying car has always had a special place in the American imagination.
Inventors have been trying to make them since the 1930s, according to Robert Mann, an airline industry analyst who owns R.W. Mann & Co. in Port Washington, New York.
But Mann thinks Terrafugia has come closer than anyone to making the flying cars a reality.
The government has already granted the company's request to use special tires and glass that are lighter than normal automotive ones, to make it easier for the vehicle to fly.

The government has also temporarily exempted the Transition from the requirement to equip vehicles with electronic stability control, which would add about six pounds to the vehicle.
Mann said Terrafugia was helped by the Federal Aviation Administration's decision five years ago to create a separate set of standards for light sport aircraft. The standards govern the size and speed of the plane and licensing requirements for pilots, which are less restrictive than requirements for pilots of larger planes.
Mann questions the size of the market for the Transition. The general aviation market has been in decline for two decades, he said, largely because of fuel costs and the high cost of liability for manufacturers. Also, fewer people are learning how to fly.
'This is not going to be an inexpensive aircraft to produce or market,' he said.
'It has some uniqueness, and will get some sales, but the question is, could it ever be a profitable enterprise?'
Mann sees the western US as the most likely market, where people could fly instead of driving long distances.
Terrafugia has been working on flying cars since 2006, and has already pushed back the launch once. Last summer the company said it would have to delay expected 2011 deliveries due to design challenges and problems with parts suppliers.

Our first lady, Patience Jonathan, was honored with a doctorate degree in South Korea on Thursday October 10th; that's her fourth Honorary Doctorate degree since becoming Nigeria's First Lady.
The ceremony was attended by wives of the governors of Benue and Ebonyi, wives of the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Naval Staff, among other dignitaries.
On receiving her latest honorary degree from the Hansei University in South Korean, our first lady said"I was just doing my own thing not knowing that in far away Asia everything was being noted. I want to assure you all that with God's help I will do more. My grandma used to say: `Whatever little you have, share; If you have a thousand and you can't share, you won't share a million if you have'." Mrs. Jonathan said.
Meanwhile, the university said they honored Patience because she had worked 'hard for many good causes'.
"She's a humanitarian who has dedicated her life to working for the less privileged in Nigeria and Africa especially for women and children. Her vision as the defender of the poor in Nigeria fits into Hansei University's motto of a practising Christian. Now she's part of our community." The university chancellor Sung-Hae Kim, said
"I was surprised that she travelled here for the Church Growth International conference years back to pray for Nigeria. For her selfless work, Hansei University confers this degree on her," Yonggi Cho, co-founder of the Hansei University.

"Music took me away from wandering about the streets" - Olamide Reveals!

Posted: 14 Oct 2013 05:35 AM PDT

It is always fun time when one speaks with Olamide. He's a friendly entertainer who understands his game very well and has consistently churned out hit tracks. Tribune recently caught up with Olamide where he opened up on his career and how he plans to remain relevant. Excerpts:
What has been happening to Olamide?
A lot of good things have been happening to me and my crew. I have been doing what I love doing and I am getting paid for it. That ordinarily comes with a good feeling, I can't deny that. I have a lot of things that I am working on right now and we are working day and night to meet up with the demands of the industry. Which is staying on top of your game while you can, having in mind that the phase will soon pass. You have to make sure that you make your stay worth the while.

Is this why you have featured in different singles  more than any other artiste lately and what are you trying to achieve with this?
You know people are very funny. When I was not featuring in other people's albums or singles, they were the ones saying on twitter and other social media platforms that Olamide is proud, he's not friendly and all sorts of things that you can't imagine. But now that I have been working with a whole lot of artistes in the industry, they have come out to say I should give myself a break. I wonder what the people really want? The truth is that you can't live your life for the people. You have to do what you feel is right for you to keep your career on the right track.

So, you don't care about what people say about you anymore?
I didn't mean it like that. What I am trying to say is that if you continue to listen to what people say every time before making your decision, you may not make the right decision at the end of the day and you may also make the right decision. What is important is your attitude to what you do. It does not mean you won't listen to them or take to their pieces of advice, you just have to be truthful to yourself and make sure you are doing what you believe is in the best interest of your career. I just want to remain on top of my game. I know I have what it takes to run the show for as long as God permits me.  But time will tell. I am growing by the day and I am enjoying every bit of my moment in the industry.

You once said that your hustling days are over, but you don't seem to be slowing down. You are always at every major show around town…
I am an ambitious young man. I love to always push myself to the limits. We have a lot of things going on in the industry now that would really make you sit tight and buckle up. Asides that, I have gone through a lot before I could arrive at this level, to God be the glory. When I look at where I was coming from and where I am today, it only reminds me of one thing, never stop dreaming big and don't ever look down on yourself even if nobody believes in you. You have to make sure you have got what it takes to stand the test of time. Olamide didn't just arrive over night. It has been a very rough journey, but God has been good to me. The truth is that people have not seen the best of Olamide.

You said one should not look down on his or her self; it seems you have a lot beneath that sentence. Could you share some of those rough experiences with us?
Everybody knows my story or let me say I try to let people know my story with the way I sing so that you won't come and tell me tomorrow or the people that you did or that for me when I was this or that. When I compose my songs, I always try to bring my rough days into retrospect. I remember how I waited many years for my single to be promoted. I was always told to wait. When I couldn't wait anymore, I had to look for another way round it. A lot of people turned me down because they didn't believe in me. I have nothing against them because that's life for you. Everybody can't believe in your dream, even if it is the most beautiful one. Today, it is practically difficult for anybody to come out and say what I had already said about myself in most of my songs.

Why did you say that?
You know people are funny. I am sure you are aware of how some people could wake up one day and start saying what is not true about your life. So, in order not to be shocked when you hear or see something like that, you have to prepare your mind and that of your fans. I always sing about the story of my life in my songs so that if you say something about it tomorrow, the people would tell you that they heard me say it before.

Now that your dream has been fulfilled and you can also stand on your own, what's the feeling like?
I feel great. I feel honoured. I feel so happy. But above all, I thank God, to whom I give all glory.

Are you surprised to have arrived at this level?
To an extent, my rise came as a shock but at the same time, my only wish since I was young was to rise above my peers and make a name for myself in whatever good I find myself doing. I strived hard to come out with something everybody would appreciate, plus the recognition that has marked my career. I will say my rise to stardom has not been a fluke. I have worked tirelessly over the years trying to break into the industry and studying the rules of the game so as to become relevant. You don't want to know how I waited and prayed to taste fame.

How has music changed your life?
Let me say that music took me away from wandering about the streets to doing the right thing at the right time. It has reshaped my life and taught me that hard work, talent and God's grace are very important in every man's life. I can say it boldly that those who never believed in me can now see that I carry a special grace. That is why I will remain grateful to ID Cabassa. He was one of the good people God used to turn my life around. I won't say more than that because I know you would want to probe me further.

Now that music has taken you away from the streets, what do you miss most about it?
I really didn't miss anything except for the life on the streets. I never wanted to remain on the streets. I have learnt a lot of lessons my brother, but one thing that readily comes to my mind each time I remember where I was coming from is the fact that the secret of success goes beyond making good music. Every right-thinking artiste must possess a good character to sustain the success that comes his way. You must have the character that could help you sustain the test of time. Trust me; rising to stardom comes with a lot of challenges, but you can only overcome them when you have a good sense of understanding about life itself.
