SHOCKER!!!! Confusion,Chaos in Ikorodu as strange images appear in mosque!!!! (PHOTOS+STORY)

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 01:06 PM PDT

•Perceived image of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass (not confirmed by Vanguard
Barely a year after a child was reportedly born with a copy of the Holy Quran in Lagos and another born with an Islamic rosary, (Tesbah) in Sagamu, Ogun State. Last Tuesday, another amazing event occurred at Owode Onirin, Ikorodu, Lagos; as images of some clerics who died decades ago were believed to have made sudden appearances on the walls of Dawiz Central Mosque in the area.
When Vanguard visited the mosque, thousands of people and passers-by storm the mosque to have a glimpse.

The images were identified as that of late Sheikh Ahmada Tijani, (Algeria) Sheikh Ibraheem Niass, (Senegal) Sheikh Jamiu Bulala. (Nigeria)
Although the images were not clear as at the time Vanguard visited, but those who spoke to Vanguard said the images were clearer on Tuesday when they were first noticed.
•Perceived image of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass

According to Eye-witness: "The images were noticed on Tuesday September 3, on the walls of the mosque which was constructed a few months ago and owned by Sheikh Musa Alegbeleye."
It was gathered that four months ago, the image of Sheikh Jamiu Bulala Islamic Cleric, who had died two decades ago appeared first faintly to the consternation of Muslim faithful and they decided never to make it public to creat any doubt.
The strange occurence has turned the serene Owode Onirin area into a Makkah of sorts as people thronged the area not only to see but to also offer some prayers. Right inside the mosque, people were seen holding bottles/satchets of water muttering prayers and shouting Allahu Akbar (God is great). Some were even seen bowing to the image.

Efforts to speak with the founder of the group and leader of the mosque, Sheikh Alegbeleye, was futile, as we were told he was sleeping after observing several vigil prayers.
Speaking on the development and an eye-witness, the President of Islamic society of Nigeria, Lagos State Mukadam Alhaji Samodu Onikoyi confirmed the appearance of the images.  "We started noticing a very faint image which came with intermittent brightness on the inside wall of the mosque which were replica of the portrait of Sheikh Ibrahim Niass, Sheikh Jamiu Bulala and Sheikh Ahmaa Tijani engraved on the walls of the building."
How it Happened: "A member of the mosque Alhaja Idayatu Idera Afolabi first noticed it and she rushed out to inform everybody and when we saw it, we decided to cover it, because we thought if we announce it, people will think it is ruse that one is trying to play on their intelligence.  But when I also saw it, I was greatly terrified, wondering how such thing could have happened".

"My thought was that the image would eventually disappeared but on the second day, it brightened more and started showing on all sides of the building which made us to still cover it untill it became public".
An eye-witness also disclosed that attempt was made by some individuals to wash off the images but to no avail; adding that the more they try to rub it off, the more the images become clearer.
Non-Muslims' comment
I don't believe it — Mrs Oluranti Jonson
For me, that image is not real and it's an evil imagination. Because the Bible says Jesus will come down with the Holy Saints and Prophet at the last day. And I will advice those clerics to stop deceiving people because I don't understand what that means and I have not seen such before.

It's a sign of end time — Mr Mike Nwoha
This is unbelievable, although as a Christian, I'm not trying to say this is evil but to them they believe; it's a sign of end time and some of them said it is stated in the Koran. So, I cannot judge, only God knows the truth about it. All I can say is that we are all serving the living God, there should not be anything like the Muslims are idol worshipers but to me this is a sign of end time. So, people should mend their ways.
Also, one Mrs Idayatu Afolabi said: "When we saw that the image, it was a strange thing, I told my husband to inform those that know better than us, it was then we called on the Imam who told us not to announce it until now that the images decided to brighten up on the wall of the mosque building ".
The shout of "Allahu Akbar" (God is Great) rented the air as hundreds of people continue to find their ways to the the Mosque in Owode Onirin to have a glimpse

"Tonto Dikeh" is one of the best musician in Nigeria" - Kas Reveals!!!

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 09:44 AM PDT

Fimile crooner, Karounwi Olakunle, otherwise called Kas, sheds light on how he combines entrepreneurship with performance.
It's the beginning of the last quarter and many artistes are doubling up to end the year on a fruitful note. Indeed, it has been a robust entertainment year, return-wise, for the likes of Psquare, Omawummi, Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Dbanj, Kcee and new rap  sensation, Olamide.

While they did succeed in clinching endorsement deals, some of which were mouth-watering, and performed at high-profile events  for three times the sum of money they used to charge as appearance fees, others have different tales to tell.
Among such people, 9ice's Gongo a So singer, 9ice has a mixed story trailing his strides. He, for instance, has not been part of the endorsement spree. While he also not feature in major concerts, such as the Star Trek, his latest single, Ike Kan, produced by Don Jazzy, has failed to generate the buzz that characterised his previous hits, including Gongo a So,  The lanky artiste has been busy  honouring invitations to perform at shows abroad.
Another name that readily comes to mind is that of Kas of Fimile fame. He too has been quiet, and not partaken of the endorsement feast. Yet, the artiste says the perceived absence from the music scene does not in any way translate to dwindling fortunes for him.
Indeed, when our correspondent asked him in a telephone interview on Tuesday, noting that he is likely to have been broke, Kas was very quick to debunk the notion. It was discovered that  the seeming lull,  currently being experienced in music circles by the likes of him, has led him to discover an entrepreneurial side.
He says, "I have been busy. The truth is that you cannot rely on music alone. Hence, the diversification. So, it's amazing that people can ever think I am broke. God forbid, I am not broke.
Amidst laughter, he adds, "I'll run back to London, if I ever become broke. I have a sachet and bottle water-producing company, which used to be based in Maryland, Lagos. However due to an overwhelming demand from customers, I had to shut it down and open a much bigger one in Surulere."
Citing God as his inspiration, the artiste, who shot into limelight with his 2010 club hit, Fimile, says he recently gave the movie world a shot.
"Besides music and business, I played the lead role in a Nollywood film titled Twin Sword. I starred alongside the late Justus Esiri and Ibinabo Fiberesima. The movie bagged nine nominations at the African Academy Movie Awards. That in itself is a great achievement."
The artiste, who also runs an entertainment outfit, sheds light on the reason behind the short-lived music romance he had with Nollywood actress-turned-singer, Tonto Dikeh.
"She used to be signed on to my label up to the time she decided to do her own thing. There was no fight or argument as we both agreed to part ways."
Before the split, the latter featured on a song titled Iyawo Mi, alongside Kas. Although it failed to hit critical acclaim and received more knocks than kudos, the artiste,  whose real name is Karounwi Olakunle, defends his choice of Tonto Dikeh on the song.
"Tonto Dikeh is a close friend and was in the studio with me one of the days I was working on a track. I already had a beat and asked her to sing on one of them. She initially resisted, but I convinced her to do it. I didn't sign her on for hype sake, but because I saw an innate music talent in her."
After years of co-writing and producing songs with the likes of Sir Shina Peters, M.I, Nneka, Goldie, Naeto C, 2face, Dbanj, and Wande Coal, KAS earned a name for himself when he began to record his own songs. However, three years down the line, he is yet to break into the A list.
So, how does he feel losing out to other artistes? In response, he waxes philosophical, saying, "You see, the sky is big enough for everyone to fly.  While some of us are doing shows here in Nigeria, some of us are busy doing our things abroad. I recently rounded off a European tour. So, you see,  I have been busy. It is a good thing to get an endorsement deal, and I am happy for those of them who have."

"We'll start bombing October 1st 2013" - MEND Threatens!!!!

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 09:13 AM PDT

MEND
The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta has issued a threat to commence mortar attacks by October 1.
Specifically, MEND told Chevron to evacuate its Tank Farm in Escravos as it is one of the targeted spots.
MEND, in a statement by Gbomo Jomo, said the militant group has reviewed its Hurricane Exodus and it is satisfied with the reduced oil output caused by pipeline vandalism.

The statement reads in part: "The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta is so far satisfied with the steady destructive progress of 'Hurricane Exodus' which has reduced Nigeria's oil output significantly through our sustained sabotage of pipelines. We will also continue to turn a blind eye to the crude oil merchants passing through our territories because their activities, apart from toll paid us, is helping to achieve our objectives of zero oil output by 2015.
We use this medium to advice workers at the Chevron Tank Farm in Escravos to evacuate the premises as mortar attacks are imminent on Tuesday, October 01, 2013 from 00:01Hrs Nigerian time."

For many months after her childbirth in the United States of America (USA), popular Yoruba actress, Ronke Ojo well known as Ronke Oshodi Oke, remained in the Barak Obama led country.

It was almost being speculated by some mischief makers that she was stranded in America, which was why she couldn't return to Nigeria to let her husband to see his child.
But we have now found out why after many months away in America, Ronke decided to bring her baby to Nigeria for her hubby to see.
We reliably gathered that while the well-endowed actress was in America, her father reportedly fell sick. Two days later, he died. The news got to her, she was devastated by it and was left with no other option than to rush to Nigeria to see to the burial arrangements of her late dad.

Ronke Oshodi Oke, as we learnt, would not have returned earlier than she did if not for the unfortunate incident.

Nigeria's Dangote signs $3.3bn deal to build oil refinery in Nigeria!!!

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 10:02 AM PDT

Aliko Dangote: "For the first time in our lifetime we'll see Nigeria exporting petroleum product"
Africa's wealthiest man, Aliko Dangote, has signed a multi-billion dollar deal with banks to finance the building of an oil refinery in Nigeria.
The refinery would be the largest in Africa, turning Nigeria into a petroleum exporter.

Nigeria is Africa's biggest oil producer but lacks refining capacity and has to import most of its fuel.
The West African state is often hit by fuel shortages, and conflict over control of its oil wealth.
People in Nigeria's oil-producing southern Niger Delta region are among the country's poorest and accuse the government and oil companies of failing to develop the area.
'Dilapidated refineries'

Mr Dangote, a Nigerian who made his fortune in cement, flour and sugar, is worth an estimated $16bn (£10bn) and has topped the Forbes list of Africa's richest men for the past three years.
Mr Dangote told the BBC's Focus on Africa programme the refinery would create "thousands" of jobs.
It would be built in the south-west and would become operational in 2016, he said.
Mr Dangote signed a $3.3bn loan deal with local and foreign banks to build the refinery, as well as fertiliser and petrochemical plants.
The entire venture would cost $9bn, with $3bn in equity from Dangote Industries and $6bn to be raised in loan capital.
The initial loan facility was co-ordinated globally by Standard Chartered and in Nigeria by Guaranty Trust Bank, London's Financial Times newspaper reports.
"At least for the first time in our lifetime, we'll see Nigeria exporting petroleum products," Mr Dangote told Focus on Africa on the BBC World Service.
"We'll also see Nigeria for the first time exporting fertiliser rather than using hard-earned foreign exchange to import fertiliser," he added.
Nigeria currently imports more than three-quarters of its fuel despite being the continent's biggest producer.
map
Although it has two refineries in the Port Harcourt area, neither runs at full capacity.
Previous efforts to repair Nigeria's dilapidated refineries and build new ones have been scuppered to protect the interests of powerful fuel importers, some of whom have been linked to a subsidy scam costing the country billions of dollars a year, correspondents say.
Fuel in Nigeria is sold at a subsidised price. A government attempt to remove the subsidy in 2012 led to nationwide protests. The plan was subsequently dropped.
Last year an investigation revealed that in two years, more than $6bn was lost in a fuel subsidy scam.

"I didn't abandon my family"- Father of stowaway boy finally reveals!!!!

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 05:54 AM PDT

Two weeks after his son flew from Benin City to Lagos in the wheel compartment of an aircraft belonging to Arik Air, Daniel Ohikhena's father denies claims that he abandoned his family.
Little is known about Daniel Ohikhena, the 13-year-old stowaway who flew from Benin City to Lagos in the wheel compartment of a plane belonging to Arik Air, by his schoolmates at Ogbe Junior Secondary School in the Edo State capital.

Shortly before his celebrated escapade, Daniel's mother, Mrs. Evelyn Ohikhena, had withdrawn him from a private secondary school for want of money to pay his tuition fees. She had enrolled him in OJSS, which was about 500 metres from her residence.
Investigation by our correspondent shows that the teenager had spent only a term in his new school before embarking on the dangerous adventure. A source said, on condition of anonymity, that Daniel joined the school, popularly known as 'Ezoti Junior' just before the end of the third term.
A youth named Festus, who also resides in the same neighbourhood as the stowaway boy, said the latter was not popular in the area.
"We hardly know him. It was recently that we heard he lives in the neighbourhood. I have not seen much of him. He was very quiet at school. I have not known him for long," he said.
However, events took a dramatic turn on Tuesday when the boy's father, Osaigbovo Ohikhena, 44, materialised as if from nowhere. Earlier, his wife (Daniel's mother) had claimed that they did not live together.
Mr. Ohikhena, who is a driver by profession, said he had been separated from his family for a year because of a misunderstanding between him and Daniel's mum. But he denied the latter's claim that he abandoned his family.
"I always pay my children's school fees and provide money for their feeding regularly, contrary to claims that I abandoned my family. After I lost my job, I decided to move to a cheaper apartment and told my wife that they should move in with me. But she refused and continued to stay in the three-bedroom flat. My new residence is located on Siluko Road. I decided to come here (Government House) to tell the world that I am the father of Daniel.
"Initially, when I heard the news, I thought my son was kidnapped. But my wife said I should calm down and she promised to get back to me when everything is finally okay. I never dreamt of going to America nor am I married to another woman. My wife refused to give the DSS my phone number when they asked for it," he said.
Giving an insight to what could have been responsible for the teenager's strange behaviour, an expert and sociologist at the University of Benin, Dr Kingsley Omoyibo, described him as suffering from maladjusted personality, due to inability to mix. Omoyibo did not only warn against labelling the teenager a criminal because of his action; he recommended that the youngster be made to undergo rehabilitation.
Noting that what happened to Daniel could have resulted from his experience in his home, the don urged the boy's parents to live up to their responsibilities in order to prevent untoward behaviour from their children in the future.
He said, "Like we learnt, the boy is a recluse. He has a withdrawn personality because he does not mix. This is why he acts the way he does. This condition is capable of making him do damage not only to himself, but to his siblings and his immediate environment.
"The boy needs to be rehabilitated. Although we cannot say that his attempt to stowaway in the wheel compartment of an aircraft is criminal behaviour, it is a devious act that must have been propelled by lack of adequate parental care. I do not know the background, but what we can extrapolate from this is that the home is not stable.
"You will find out that there is a lacuna in the upbringing of the boy and consequently, it has affected the way he reasons and appreciates societal issues. The way he sees the complexity of society is different from a child that has complete socialization. The boy is suffering from maladjusted personality.
"Indeed, that child, I still maintain, is not a criminal. In the process of maladjustment, he is exposed to odious things. For a child to keep all night watching films, it tells a lot about his state of mind."
Now that a group known as De RAUFS has offered the teenage stowaway scholarship up to university level, it is the duty of his parents to seek ways of reshaping his character for a better future.

FG approves 5-year jail term and N200,000 fine for exam cheats!!!

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 05:29 AM PDT

Candidates who cheat during examinations conducted by the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, now risk a five-year jail term under an amendment to the 2004 WAEC Act being proposed by Federal Government.
Under the proposed amendment, examination malpractice will fetch five-year jail term for offenders or the option of N200,000 fine or both.
The Minister of Education, Prof Ruqayyat Rufai, announced this in Abuja on Wednesday while briefing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the weekly FEC meeting.
Rufai said the decision of the meeting, which was presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan, was to "give effect to the revised convention of WAEC, 2003 in Nigeria.
Also the council approved the establishment of a national healthcare waste management policy for Nigeria.

Nigeria at present does not have a coordinated healthcare waste management system especially in the area of collection, storage, treatment and disposal even after being signatory to the convention on the control of hazardous waste disposal.

The Federal Executive Council also deliberated on the memo by the Ministry of Interior, which aims at reducing the incident of fire in public buildings across the country.

The Ministry of Interior has been directed to forward the policy to the National Economic Council (NEC) for further deliberations and to also enable state governors to key into the policy for full implementation across the country. - See more at: http://www.brimtime.com/2013/09/waec-to-peg-five-years-jail-term-on.html#sthash.11VkXIax.dpuf

Shocker!!! Nollywood Actress Stephanie Okereke, Others Wanted For Fraud

Posted: 05 Sep 2013 05:30 AM PDT

the Association of Nollywood Core Producers, ANCOP, has petitioned EFCC and SFU over the N50 million largesse donated by Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State to support the industry.

The association is alleging massive fraud in the disbursement of the fund. It has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) to investigate the matter.
According to a copy of the petition made available to HVP, signed by the association's President, Comrade Alex Eyengho, the group is asking the agencies to invite the National President of the Association of Movie Producers, AMP, Zik Zulu Okafor, the National President of the Directors Guild of Nigeria, DGN, Andy Amenechi; the Secretary General of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Yakubu Abubakar and actress Stephanie Okereke- Linus Idahosa for obtaining the fund and disbursing it without the consent of the industry's stakeholders.

Part of the petition dated August 19, 2013 and addressed jointly to the EFCC and SFU, read thus:

"On June 15, 2013, news broke out that some Nollywood stakeholders under the auspices of a non-existent 'Guild of Nollywood Stars' visited Governor Akpabio in his office in Uyo for the purpose of collecting the N50 million pledge to Nollywood.

"The Governor presented to the visitors a prototype post-dated (25-06- 2013) Zenith bank cheque number 00063639 with Akwa Ibom State Government as the account name, issued in favour of Guild of Nollywood Stars. "We also gathered that the Governor, in his usual generosity, gave each of the visitors N500, 000 cash. "Expectedly, the massive publicity given to the entire episode by the press generated heated debates. In fact, it polarised the industry till today.

"Suspecting fraud, ANCOP immediately raised the red flag when it queried the use of a non-existent 'Guild of Nollywood Stars' to access the N50 million pledge, by those who visited Governor Akpabio.

"We are demanding that you immediately commence a full-blown investigation into the alleged fraudent act over the N50 million Governor Akpabio gave to Nollywood to carry out a specific task but now domiciled in the account of one of the the over 30 associations and guilds in Nollywood…Sir, anything short of this is an invitation to anarchy in Nollywood."
