Ironically, it wasn't really an exceptional acting skill that got him to be among the most talked about actors, Okonkwo's name went viral when the rumour of his sexual preference hit the Internet. Rumour has it that Okonkwo is a homosexual. However, the young man, in a recent chat with Saturday Beats, claimed the story was a by-product of a role he acted in a movie recently. He said, "I did a movie, Pregnant Hawker, and I played the role of a gay in that movie. As an actor, you should interpret any role given to you and your ability to do that is what matters the most. I played the role very well. I am not gay. I was just acting. I am a professional. It was just a job that I was doing. I am not going to convince everybody that I am not gay. But for the records, I just did my job. I have played a gay role in three movies. I am a calm, loving person." Even with the rumour gaining more momentum, the fine boy actor is not fazed. "I will take up any role given to me as long as the pay is right. We are just acting. This is a world of make-believe. I am not going to stop. So many people knew I was just acting. Once it is your time to shine, that is when different stories will come up. If I don't play the role well, same people will say that I don't know how to act," he told Saturday Beats. Probably to convince the rumour mongers that he was straight, Okonkwo once pasted a picture he took with his supposed girlfriend on the Internet. But the girl almost immediately denied being Okonkwo's girlfriend. She said the actor had always had preference for men. But Okonkwo insisted he wasn't going to talk about the reason the girl 'denied' their relationship. He said instead, "A lot of people want me to talk about it. I just don't want to make that girl popular. She is looking for fame. I don't have any comment and I will not talk about my relationship and I have not got any offer from any guy to be his gay partner." As if the gay rumour was not enough, Okonkwo also featured nude in a soon to be released movie, James Town, because, "the pay was good". Posted: 28 Sep 2013 07:50 AM PDT  The thread claimed the snake was one of two enormous boas found by workers clearing forest for a new road outside Guping city, Jiangxi province. They apparently woke up the sleeping snakes during attempts to bulldoze a huge mound of earth. "On the third dig, the operator found there was blood amongst the soil, and with a further dig, a dying snake appeared," said the post. "At the same time, another gold coloured giant boa appeared with its mouth wide open. The driver was paralysed with fear, while the other workers ran for their lives. "By the time the workers came back, the wounded boa had died, while the other snake had disappeared. The bulldozer operator was so sick that he couldn't even stand up." The post claimed that the digger driver was so traumatised that he suffered a heart attack on his way to hospital and later died. The dead snake was 55ft (16.7m) long, weighed 300kg and was estimated to be 140 years old, according to the post.  The photograph claims to show a 55ft giant snake that is found in a forest of Malaysia (some versions of messages say China). This story became an internet sensation when it started spreading through emails, forums and social networking websites. However, the story is a hoax. No such story was found to be reported in the website of People's Daily as mentioned in the story. The photograph is cleverly manipulated to mislead people. The snake is seen hanging from the digging bucket down to the extreme foreground which induces viewers to consider the people in the cab behind as an indication of scale. If we could see the actual size of the bucket, it would be easy to estimate the relative size of the snake. The normal size of a bull dozer bucket will be around 3-5 feet, and the snake in the picture is about 5 times the size of the bucket, which makes it around 15 to 25 feet at the maximum. Moreover, the snake cannot be Boa because they do not belong to that part of the world. The markings on the backside of the snake indicate that it is a reticulated python. Therefore, this picture message claiming to show 55 feet snake in the forest of Malaysia is a definite hoax. Reticulated pythons are indeed the world's longest snakes. These pythons vary in size, and can grow up to 23 ft (6.95 m), the largest witnessed was 29 ft (8.7 m). Sometimes, the claims made by animal parks and zoos are exaggerated when it comes to the measurement of these giant snakes, like a monster reticulated python in Indonesia that was first claimed to be nearly 49 foot (14.9 m) and weighing 990 pound (450 Kgs). The picture shows two different ocean water bodies meeting in the middle of Alaskan Gulf, where a foam is formed at the merging junction. This happens when glaciers of fresh water start melting and flow to join the ocean water which is more salty. Because of the difference in the salinity and densities of these two meeting ocean water bodies, a surface tension is developed between them that acts like a thin wall and does not allow them to mix. But given enough time, they will eventually mix together. This picture of two oceans meeting, but not mixing was caught by a photographer on Alaskan Cruise and shared it on Flickr which went viral, spreading on many other social networking platforms. |

James Ani, in company with about eight other people held the community by the jugular and laid siege on their prey. Also, it was reported that the gang combed parts of the community to see if they could find a prime target on which they could feed. But while the siege lasted, a team of anti- robbery patrol team usually on routine checks on remote parts of the state was passing by and accosted the gang. On seeing the police team, Fr. Ani reportedly commanded his 'troops' to launch offensive. Wielding several dangerous weapons, the suspected robbers reportedly engaged the police team in fierce duel which further sent habitants of the community and travellers scampering for safety. During the clash, Fr. Ani and his gang reportedly got hold of one Inspector Cosmas Nzeribe and a couple of his colleagues, and almost sniffed life out of them. However, the suspected robbers bowed to the superior firepower of the law enforcement agents leading to their arrest. Before they were arrested, the hoodlums damaged the two vehicles used by the law enforcement agents. The vehicles were a Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration number ENUGU XY 770 ENU and another Toyota Toyota Corolla car with registration number KPP 450 XA. In the end, Ani and three others; Ugwu Marcel, Obasi Felix and Norbert Eke were arrested and taken to custody. About five other members of the gang reportedly fled from the scene of the attack. A manhunt has already been launched for the fleeing suspects. An eye witness, who identified himself as Okey, told reporters the law enforcement agents would have been killed but for Providence. According to the truck driver, "I ply this road very often and I can tell you that most travellers had had harrowing experiences to share about this place. It is such a bad spot and when the robbers were arrested and we saw a supposed man of God among them, not many of us were surprised because we had experienced that before in this area. Criminals would put on cloths meant for the clergymen to rob people. Thank God, this one was caught." A resident of the community, who declined to give his name also lamented to reporters the agony of inhabitants of the village and travellers on the hands of men of the underworld. "Robbers attack the community almost on a daily basis. Most times, they target travellers and on some occasions, citizens of the community had been dispossessed of their valuables. It is great news that these set of robbers were arrested by the police. Let us hope that this would bring the end to the incessant cases of armed robbery and kidnapping in the area," he said. At the time of arrest, Ani reportedly informed security operatives that he was not a robber but a priest. However, upon intense interrogation, he confessed to his crime, saying that he was pushed into the crime due to lull in his business. Spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the arrest of the four suspected robbers, maintained that investigations are ongoing while a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing suspects. "The Commissioner of Police has said it many times that there is no hiding place for criminals again in Enugu. This statement he is matching with actions which are evident in the arrest of the four suspects. Imagine someone supposed to be a man of God, being the ring leader in such a crime!" she said. What do you have to offer your fans? I know there is a lot of expectation of me career-wise. I know I will live up to the expectation because I just released two songs online and the reviews are great. They are really doing well though we just released them online. The two songs are off the album. We just want everybody to go and get the album when it is out because there is going to be different things from Solidstar. People should expect different things from me because they know me as this R 'n'B artiste but I changed their perception when I released, Omotena and Skibo. I want my fans to know that apart from this afro-pop, I still do reggae, dancehall and the likes. It is more like a very versatile album. I just want to give everybody a different feel and various options to choose from. This year has been good for you. It has been reported that you acquired multi-million naira properties this year alone. What did you do differently? Last year, I performed a lot but most of them were free shows. I was only paid for a few. This year I made a lot of money, did a lot of things for a change. I told my team that we had to sit up. We had spent a lot on projects and we had to think of ways to get the money back. We had a meeting and decided that we all had to put in our best in whatever project we were doing. We thank God it worked out well. Now I am proud of not just my label, but of myself also. You are still with the label that discovered you, Achivas Music. Will you leave it at anytime like some artistes do leave their record labels? I doubt if I will leave Achivas Music anytime soon because the management has been doing well. It is hard to stay on your own because the challenge can be overwhelming. Even if I want to go, I will still be under it; something like an affiliation because it will not be easy. For now, I am still with Achievas. You are known to be very close to Tuface, why are you not signed to his record label, Hypertek Records? I was already signed to Achivas Music before Hypertek Records became my friend. I knew Tuface through my record label. We became very close that some people even thought I was signed under Hypertek. Kudos to Tuface, I really appreciate what he has done for me over the years. He is part of my success story. He got me fame and fortune and I am really grateful to him. How is your grandmother who has always been there to support you and your dream? My grandmother is late now. To me then, she was my everything; she meant the whole world to me and gave me all her support that my own mother and father did not give me. She sent me to school with the little she had. She was a prophetess and she had a church. She was the kind of woman that liked helping people and had a lot of people under her wings. She really tried for me and she is somebody that I will never forget. My granny would do anything to see me happy and I was her favourite grandchild. How do you feel, knowing your grandmother is not alive to witness your success? I think about it most time and anytime I do, I feel very bad. I don't cry though but I think about it. I just wish she was here to see her son doing good; if she were alive, she would never go hungry for a day. While she was alive, she never ever wanted to see me hungry. By now, I probably would have bought a house for her. I would have taken her to somewhere special. Is it true that you bought a 2013 Infinity SUV for N13m? Why are you not riding it about? With the kind of weather we are experiencing now, there are just some places you would not want to take it to. Is it true you recently bought a property worth about N30m? Yes, I did. Do you have any endorsement deal? No. I don't. How did you get all that money? I got them from shows; God has been really merciful to me. He has been so wonderful to me. I did tours and got money from that too. Why did you switch from love songs to party songs? I do music for love but at the same time, you have to look at the monetary aspect. We have spent a lot of money. I could remember back then when I sang 'One in a million', I sang with all my heart and soul but it did not bring me money. My account was crying. There was nothing coming in, all I got was that I was a talented artiste and I got lots of thumbs up. After much thoughts, I decided to change. I am very versatile; I can actually sing anything. I decided to change and see what would happen. That was when I did Omotena; that was a song that was different from my genre of music and it worked. I decided that the next one was going to be better. Then I did Skibo and the song was a hit. Are you dating Tonto Dikeh? We do hang out. We relax together; we are very very close but not like girlfriend and boyfriend. We are really close. We hang out together, go to places and chill together. Will you cut your dreadlocks anytime soon? I will but not yet because I still need to make a lot of money. I have a small face. My dreads are deceiving a lot of people. If I cut them off I will look like a small boy and you may not recognise me. When I have decided to relax with music, then I will cut them off. Why did you pick Independence Day for your album launch? The timing works for me. I feel releasing the album on October 1 will be very cool. That day is a free day; I doubt if anybody will release an album on that day. Everywhere will be relaxed. Being a free day, I am sure people's attention will be focused on the album launch. |

(MUST SEE) Posted: 28 Sep 2013 12:41 PM PDT .jpeg) Over 8,000 women on Thursday marched to the Zamfara Hisbah Commission seeking the state government's assistance to enable them get married, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya Suwaiba Isa, and their patron, Alhaji Sa'idu Goshe, the women said they were not leading a full life and needed husbands to become whole. They said many of them could not afford two meals in a day because there were no men to support them. The patron said the association had over 8,000 women, comprising 5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he said, were looking for men to marry. He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to their husband houses. Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening suitors for the women. He said the screening would determine the suitors' health status, source of livelihood and ability to maintain a family. Responding, the Chairman of the commission, Dr Atiku Zawuyya, commended the association for the initiative, saying it would assist in ridding the society of women of easy virtues. Zawuyya promised to present the matter to the state government for necessary action, but urged the patron to also set up a similar body for men to make the pairing exercise easier. |

Posted: 28 Sep 2013 04:51 AM PDT  Police say they want Prezzo aka Jackson Makini to report to Parklands Police Station for grilling after he allegedly assaulted a Swiss military officer in the head with gun butt and holster on Saturday morning. The two are said to have been involved in an argument outside Aqua Bar over a parking slot at about 3am. According to Gigiri Division police boss Vitalis Otieno, Prezzo had obstructed the military colonel from Switzerland which prompted the argument. "When the military officer came back ready to go, an argument broke out over the parking slot which degenerated to an assault using a gun. We want him to report at Parklands," said Otieno. The military officer is attached to Amisom and was headed to Ethiopia Saturday morning when the incident occurred. He was forced to cancel his flight. Otieno said he was treated and discharged from MP Shah Hospital. And after the drama, Prezzo is said to have tried to cock and shoot at the officer who was bleeding at that time. Otieno cited witnesses who said Prezzo was restrained by his bodyguards who dragged him to his car and drove off. A hunt on him was on-going on Saturday morning even as police appealed to him to surrender. Police visited his home but they did not find him. It's not clear if Prezzo is a licensed gun holder.
