Toke Makinwa Flashes Engagement Ring in Latest Vlog and Instagram Pictures

Posted: 16 Aug 2013 12:10 PM PDT

We have showcased Toke Makinwa several times on this site, her vlogs, and with her fiance, Maje Ayida, in the Couple Love feature. However, in none of the pictures will you see her engagement ring, with some people saying the relationship is on shaky ground.

If it ever was, we believe Toke and Maje must be in a better place now. Not only is she flaunting him on her Instagram, she is also showing off her engagement ring, prominently displaying it in her latest vlog. She looks so happy and excited like she tagged one of her photos, and that makes us happy for her too.

More pictures and the vlog [from 5:30] below.

Bride Has 80 Bridesmaids in Her Train - What's The Most You've Seen?

Posted: 16 Aug 2013 10:01 AM PDT

When planning your wedding, one of the tough calls is choosing who and who will be in your bridal train. It could be an even or odd number, depending if there'll be groomsmen too, but most brides narrow it down to between 4 to 6 bridesmaids, some even go up to 10. Katie Dalby decided not to make that hard choice, she went with all 80 girls and women she was close too.

You can blame the fact that she was a dance teacher with 74 students. She wanted to involves some of her girls in her bridal train, but felt it would be unfair to take some and leave some. So she took all. The other ladies were her three sisters-in-law, a niece, her best friend and one cousin. And that makes 80!

What's the most you've seen?

Having the Help of Your Mother After Delivering Your Baby

Posted: 16 Aug 2013 06:07 AM PDT

In Nigeria, it's called Omugwo in Igbo, and is such a part of our culture that not many people even think of not inviting either their mother or their mother-in-law to stay with them after they newly have their baby. The new grandma helps to take care of the baby, teach the new mom about taking care of the baby, and generally help to keep the home going.

In fact, I'm sure most people have seen the Nollywood comedy that is a riff of this tradition, when Nkem Owoh, whose character is a husband with a new grandchild, decided to go for omugwo instead of his wife. He gets to his daughter's house, and instead of helping, he becomes a burden.

In some instances, the new grandma is already waiting in the home before the baby is born, like in my cousin's case, or she arrives soon after. In fewer instances, depending on the circumstances of the couple, the new mom and baby move over to her mother's or the husband's mother's house.

The news is that's what Kate Middleton is doing, staying with her parents following the birth of her son Prince George. Her husband Prince William returned to work as an RAF helicopter pilot last week, and Kate is said to be greatly appreciating her mother Carole Middleton's help.

In fact, it has been claimed the duchess is considering staying at her family's home for six months. William is believed to have one month left of working in Wales, and could then relocate to Suffolk or London, and Kate feels so safe and secure with her family, and they want George's first six months to be as stable as possible.

Also, Kate's mother Carole is proving to be a calming influence around her new grandson, and has so mastered the art of putting him to sleep at night that they are calling her 'the baby-whisperer'.

Who else had the help of their mother after they delivered their baby?

If Disney Princesses Had Instagram, I'd Surely Be Following Them

Posted: 16 Aug 2013 12:07 AM PDT

OK, maybe not all of them. Snow_white with her #nofilter #selfies can stay to one side. But Belle for sure, I want to see the cover of all those books, and know how her romance with the Beast turned out. All the others would also make interesting characters for sure, especially if like me, you've seen these Disney princess movies more than you're willing to admit :)

By the way, she might not be a princess but I love me Esmeralda. Who's your favorite?

Kim Kardashian Debuts Baby North West In Surprisingly Low-Key Hospital Outing

Posted: 15 Aug 2013 11:23 PM PDT

So Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, and Baby North West were photographed yesterday in the parking lot of a Los Angeles hospital. Though the baby was covered with a blanket in her car seat carried by a nanny, the new parents were looking in very high spirits, Kanye West was even laughing and carrying Kim's bag in some of the shots.

TMZ managed to get loads of pictures of the new family together, but somehow, people are not happy about the debut, or maybe I should say we're all surprised?

Where is the magazine spread of a slim and toned Kim Kardashian in a two piece bikini that everyone has been almost half-expecting? And the cute baby pictures of North West on the vogue cover? OK, maybe that will all still happen.

So far however, I have to say, I'm liking this new Kim Kardashian more and more. Either it is Kanye West's influence, or the effect of becoming a mother. But not everything has to be about keeping up an image. Showing people the real you works as well.

Who else is surprised at Kim's reveal? Do you think she'll still do the whole magazine debut?
