Popular Yoruba comic actor, Babatunde Omidina otherwise known as Baba Suwe, has headed to the Supreme Court to claim N25million as compensation from the National Drugs Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
An Appeal Court in Lagos had quashed an earlier judgement by a High Court which awarded the said sum to Baba Suwe over the violation of the actor's fundamental human rights, after the anti-drugs agency held him for about three weeks in their custody on the suspicion of ingesting substance believed to be narcotic.

Baba Suwe's counsel, Bamidele Aturu filed a notice of appeal at the Supreme Court on Friday challenging the decision of the Appeal Court to quash the judgment of the High Court in Lagos.

SEE The Foreign Owners Of All The Premier League Clubs [MUST LOOK]

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 01:20 PM PDT

GRIDIRON boss Shahid Khan last night became the latest foreign owner in the Premier League Billionaires' Row.

Khan wrapped up a £150million buy-out of former Harrods chief Mohamed Fayed to take control at Craven Cottage.
The Pakistan-born car-parts tycoon, who is also top man at NFL franchise Jacksonville Jaguars, joins NINE other non-British owners in the top flight.
And to help Khan, 62, settle in, we have put together a guide to his fellow foreign supremos.

Arsenal — Stan Kroenke, USA

SILENT Stan owns 67 per cent of Arsenal — but is locked in a multi-national power battle with Uzbek billionaire Alisher Usmanov, who wants a greater say in club affairs.
They both could be on the way out though with a mega-money Arab consortium thought to be weighing up a £1.5bn takeover bid.
Like Khan, Kroenke is a big noise in US sport and also owns NFL side St Louis Rams.

Aston Villa — Randy Lerner, USA

LERNER has seen Villa slip from top-four contenders to relegation fodder since Martin O'Neill walked out in protest in 2010.
The New York-born former Cleveland Browns owner has shelled out nearly £300MILLION in his Villa stay.

Cardiff City — Vincent Tan, Malaysia

TAN sparked fan fury when he switched City's traditional blue kit in 2012 — due to a superstition in his native Malaysia.
He also changed the club's nickname from Bluebirds to Red Dragons. But the gamble paid off and the Welsh side stormed to the Championship title last term.

Chelsea — Roman Abramovich, Russia

Funke Akindele Separated From Husband ?! Husband posts scary message.... (READ)

funke akindele and hubby

Star actress, Funke Akindele's one year old marriage to Kehinde Adeola Oloyede is currently threatened.
And if what her hubby's message on Facebook early today is anything to go by, the marriage might have collapsed irreconcilably.

Early this morning, Kehinde Adeola Oloyede wrote on his Facebook account via his Blackberry 10, "It's with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me nd ma wife Mrs olufunke akindele,we've both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences.we still best of friends nd we 4ever remain gud friends."

Though the couple are said to have been enjoying best of time until early this year, the two have consistently put up a good and perfect appearance of a perfect couple.
Even though the actress tries hard to take her marriage away from her career, inside sources maintained it was just a faced to direct people's attention away from her marriage.
However sources from the families maintained that a strong committee have been formed to wade into the matter and resolve the issues that might have caused the problem between the couple.
In the last few months, the Jenifa star has been busy at several movie locations.

Disclaimer (I went through Kehinde Almaroof's facebook page to get a screen shot of the post but I didn't see such post...it's either he deleted it or the story is false)...I hope Funke sees this on time to release a statement...

Adijat and Mallam Issa, who both hail from Lama, Kwara State.
It was gathered that earlier in the day, Adijat, seized by labour pangs, was rushed to the home of a midwife, Abubakar Baiwa Shasha, where she was delivered of the baby girl.

The Luxurious Life Of Nigerian Musicians

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 08:10 AM PDT

Living one's life to the fullest and living one's life extravagantly is a different ball game altogether. Extravagance is something that one's spirit 'thinks' is a necessity, but this could be wrong. NE  x-rays the luxurious lifestyle of Nigerian actors
It is opined that extravagance is the luxury of the rich; penury is the luxury of the poor. This statement is apt in the lives of several Nigerian artistes who tend to show off their 'wealth' in a bid to constantly remain on the public eye for as long as possible. It has also been said that all decent people live beyond their incomes nowadays, and those who aren't respectable live beyond other people. A few gifted individuals manage to do both.

It is a good thing obviously to enjoy the works of your hand, however with moderation. Recently, the media, blogs, websites, etc. have been eroded with stories, articles, news centered on some activities of some artistes, though in different dimensions. We had D'banj 'suit of money'; Wizkid purchasing a new Porsche; Don Jazzy feeling cool with the most expensive wine ever; OJB having kidney issues, etc.

It's a good thing to enjoy your money especially after working so hard to earn them but there is certainly what is called simplicity. But just as Coco Chanel opined "Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance."
International superstar, entertainer and Oliver Twist crooner, Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D'banj is never far away from making huge statements and breaking new grounds in terms of how he appears. He is a disciple of the popular saying that "you are addressed the way you are dressed". He takes particular interest in how he looks and this obviously was an important factor in his decision to dress expensively.

In a recent newspaper interview, he confirmed he wears the same wristwatch as American rapper Jay-Z, valued at $50,000. D'banj has continued to rise in stardom despite his split from erstwhile partner and friend, Don Jazzy. He has continued to command huge sums of money in endorsements, appearances and performances thus still making him the highest earning Nigerian artiste of all time. D'banj is by no mean standard a classy entertainer, always on point, dapper and smoking hot! His sense of fashion in the Nigeria entertainment industry is almost second to none and doesn't disappoint.\

His much talked about DKM concert held recently at the Eko  Hotel & Suites was the perfect avenue to show the world his latest fashion sense. He showed off his much talked about "Suit of Money". It was designed by the famous Okunoren Twins. It was made of actual $100 bills and cost a whopping $25,000. You can convert that on your own!

P-Square's elder brother and producer, Jude Okoye shows off a lot of dollars as he contemplates buying a new ride.

It was entirely sewn by hand in London but was then taken to Italy for the specialised Milanese buttonholes to be done at the same factory used by Tom Ford. His new song titled, "Blame it on the Money", featuring Snoop Lion and fellow Good Music act Big Sean goes further to emphasise his wealth where he states he is unapologetic for being rich.
In the words of a world renowned economist, John Maynard Keynes "There is no subtler, no surer means of overturning the existing basis of society than to debauch the currency. The process engages all the hidden forces of economic law on the side of destruction, and does it in a manner which no single person in a million can diagnose." D'banj has simply debased the American dollar. He should have used the Naira instead but must have felt that the Naira won't project his image well.

The thinking is that, it's not proper to debase a currency the way Eja Nla did with the dollar notes, even with a Nigerian Naira. Agreed, he can spend his money the way he wants, he worked hard for it, but by being simple and modest, the dressing will be well appreciated.

The world most powerful president, Barack Obama, in all his presidential elegance would never ridicule the dollar note the way D'banj did. D'banj should be more objective, do good music, and leave all the idle propaganda for the less successful artistes in the industry. Nice suit, anyway!

Wizkid is a talented young artiste and he is the golden boy of the music industry alongside Davido. He recently crashed his N15million Porsche Panamera and within two weeks, replaced the car with another Porsche Panamera. He said he had no means of transportation except with cabs and of course, it is his money and he can do as he wished. No doubt about that but he should show modesty and simplicity. He is still very young and has a very bright future ahead of him. He should use this golden opportunity he has right now to invest in profitable business to secure his future. He probably won't sing for life and will have to fall back on something for survival. A miser grows rich by seeming poor; an extravagant man grows poor by seeming rich.

It's no longer news that the most expensive champagne 'Goût de Diamants' in the entire universe was created by a Nigerian, a luxury designer, Alexander Amosu. It's worth a whopping N248m. Commenting on the design, Alexander Amosu said, "The bottle already has a distinctive look with its natural design; all I had to do is bring it to the next level of ultimate luxury." The Goût de Diamants (Taste of Diamonds) everyday bottles are hand-finished by a single craftsman with over 40 years' experience. The Bottles for each of the four vintages come with a hand-applied pure pewter engraved label set with a brilliant cut Swarovski Crystal (The Rosé crystal is appropriately pink and the Brut, blue). It was designed to create a masterpiece for private wealthy clients. Maybe, Don Jazzy has been a 'coded' client over the years.

Mr Amosu hand crafted the packaging from 18ct solid white gold weighing approximately 48gsm of solid gold centered by a single flawless deep cut white diamond weighing 19cts. The label is also handmade in 18ct solid gold and weighs approximately 36gsm, handcrafted and engraved with the client's name. The question on most people's lips is whether the wine will wash away years of sins of the drinker. Will the drinker ever thirst again?

There are millions of hungry children out there in the wilderness looking for succour. With the grace of God who has made these artistes very successful, should learn to plough back to the society that made them. Sponsoring indigent students in schools; empowering the youths will go a very long way to eradicate the poverty in Nigeria. The amount spent on these luxuries is more than enough to cater for so many helpless children. It could be recalled that the social media was eroded with the calls for OJB kidney transplant. Fans were shocked at the nonchalant attitude of music stars that were expected to rise up in unison and help raise cash. Some did after so much pressure from fans while a host of them didn't. This is not to say OJB didn't plan for himself. He had spent so much on treating himself while his musical career suffered.

If it were to buy the latest cars, clothes, travel around the world, party heavily, they wouldn't hesitate to spend money, but to assist a fellow in need always takes time. There is the need for our stars to have a change of mind and always be willing to help people genuinely. Yes, they are making the money now, are they planning for the dry seasons? Many people believe that the life of a famous musician is all champagne, Lear jets and a steady flow of royalty payments to pay for it all.

This is certainly true for some, but there are also those who have reached the upper echelons of mega stardom, only to lose it all in the blink of an eye. Some managed their money badly. Some lost everything to the managers and promoters who were supposed to be looking after their affairs. And some spent all their money on lavish mansions, expensive cars and various addictions. They can learn from the world's richest men who dedicate a percentage of their wealth to the needy. They aren't getting poorer.

Al-Mustapha weeps, Shares His Prison Experience [MUST READ]

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 08:08 AM PDT

Overwhelmed by emotion, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, the former Chief Security Officer, CSO, to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, yesterday wept openly at Kano Government House while recalling his ordeal in detention.

Al-Mustapha was released from Kirikiri Prison on Friday after about 15 years over the alleged murder of Kudirat Abiola, the wife of the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, the late Chief MKO Abiola.
The CSO wept as he remembered his parents who died during his incarceration when he paid a thank you visit to Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
He was accompanied by members of his family and close associates, including the Founder, Oodua People's Congress, OPC, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun.
Al-Mustapha told the governor that he was a victim of trumped-up charges to get rid of him.
He said: "I must say that even though I lost my father and my mother whom I was forced to see only two times in 15 years – I am their first child – I must say I am their confidant and best friend in my family; and yet, even when the court forced the then authorities to allow me set my eyes on them, the approvals of the court were flagrantly refused.
"And I was kept and punished the more just a ploy to ensure that I don't set eyes on my parents.
"I saw my father in 2001, and later I saw him in May 2007; my mother I was allowed to see her in August 2001, and then I was allowed also to see her after a long battle, despite instructions from the Federal High Court, Lagos. I saw her in 2006 and she died last year during Ramadan.
"Things we went through are things that I cannot sum up anywhere, but all I can say is that yesterday is gone, those who have perpetrated what they did against us have done it in their own deductions, analyses, feelings but to us yesterday is gone.
"We have drawn a line and we have forgiven them. We are forging ahead to set examples."
He, however, told the governor that "now, Your Excellency, I have found a father – highly dogmatic, a senior citizen of this country, a detribalised elder, an intellectual, a person that is a father indeed with a wide shoulder and a big heart, a man that is very reliable, responsible, dependable, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun.
"He stood by me, having taken time to come to the court to realise what were going on in the court of law and, on the other hand, what were being scripted and sponsored on the pages of newspapers, magazines, television and the radio were different, he now decided to stay on the part of justice and insist that justice must be served.
"In rainy season, dry season, cold season, he was always in court.
"I know of the humiliation he served. Your Excellency, I must say that I have a father in the South-West and part of this country, that is my own and that is a personality I look on to for vision and guidance and I respect him as a father that can look through issues in this country beyond tribal sentiment, beyond religious issues.
"He is an asset to the country, and that is why I have anchored upon him as a father with whom we can look into the future together with."
While receiving the released detainee at the Government House besieged by thousands of well-wishers, friends and sympathisers of the family, Kwankwaso urged them to join the government in welcoming back to Kano, Al-Mustapha, adding that they should also give thanks to Allah for making his release possible after all these years.
"What happened to him is a big lesson not only to the family but to everyone of us; but I give thanks to the judiciary for this bold verdict.
"The few times I visited him in prison, I saw the commitment and his faith in Allah, and it was obvious that he would one day regain freedom and today, that has been actualised; and the government, friends and associates of this great son will pull resources together to ensure his rehabilitation anywhere he chooses to live," Kwankwaso said.
The governor said he was particularly happy that the campaign for Al-Mustapha's release yielded the desired result.
Fasehun, in his vote of thanks, said he was delighted over the development and was overwhelmed by the unprecedented crowd that gathered at the airport to receive them.
"Hamza Al-Mustpha was taken away in 1999 in tattered clothes and in chains under a pitiable situation; but today he has returned a hero, we have always insisted that he was unjustly held. We felt concerned and decided to be part of justice.
"I am happy that after a heavy rain, the sky is good. This is the only country we can call our own. We must eschew mutual hostility, mutual suspicion and build not only a good nation, but a great nation," he stated.
Al-Mustapha arrived Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport at about 12:05 p.m. on a chattered Donier 328 with registration number M-BETY, a UK- made jet.
But there were mixed reactions among prominent legal practitioners over the release of Al-Mustapha, and the former aide of Kudirat Abiola, Lateef Sofolahan from prison.
Commenting on the judgement, human rights lawyer, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, said he received the news of Al-Mustapha's acquittal with mixed feelings.
He said: "I am happy that the system of due process, of democratic resort to the law court for redress, is working. Had the judgement of Justice Mojisola Dada, of the Lagos High Court, that sentenced him to death, been delivered in 1994 when Al-Mustapha was CSO to Abacha, he would have been executed by now.
"It is indeed gratifying that Al-Mustapha is now benefitting from the same judiciary that he worked tirelessly to annihilate.
"I cannot take the acquittal as verdict of clearance for Al-Mustapha. I personally tasted of the madness, of the wickedness and deprivations that Gen. Abacha and Al-Mustapha subjected Nigerians to, when I was incarcerated in solitary confinement at the Directorate of Military Intelligence for nine months without trial."
He commended the Lagos State government and its lawyers who followed the cases, adding that the state should appeal against the judgement to the Supreme Court.
Human rights lawyer, Fred Agbaje, said the judgement was victory for the rule of law.
The judgement had shown that the Nigerian legal system was moving away from public sentiments and circumstantial evidence-based trials to hardcore evidence-based convictions.
He said: "The judgement has affirmed that in Nigeria, our constitutional democracy is firmly rooted in the rule of law. I knew from the beginning that the case won't succeed. The problem with the case was that the prosecution did not do their homework well. The case had prosecutorial lacunas."
A Lagos lawyer, Friday Oshomagbe, said: "It was a well-considered judgement based on material evidence of the prosecution witnesses which to me was not cogent enough to prove their guilt.
"The state to me should be blamed. Why would the state leave Sgt. Rogers, who had confessed pulling the trigger that killed Kudirat and be pursuing shadow?
"Their using him as witness against Al-Mustapha was never right in the first place. Why should the killer be left of the hook and the one who they say supposedly gave order to shoot is being tried?
"And for the trial court to rely on incoherent circumstantial evidence in pronouncing their guilt is to me not good for our judicial precedent. Criminal trial is based on unimpeachable evidence of the prosecution and not sentiment or perceived circumstances and opinion.
"It is the investigators of the case and the state that failed the Abiola family in their quest for justice and not the judiciary."
Meanwhile, members of the Christian Praying Assembly, CPA, have expressed strong hope that their convicted General Overseer, Emeka Ezeugo, a.k.a. Rev. King, would soon regain freedom also.
Their expectation followed the discharge and acquittal of Al-Mustapha by the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division.
Some of the members who craved anonymity spoke to National Mirror after their Sunday service yesterday at the CPA headquarters at 1, CPA Base, off Bishop Ojo Drive, Benson Anorue Street, Ajao Estate.
Al-Mustapha's freedom seemed to have elicited strong hope among the members of the church as it became a topic of discussion, while they were leaving after the service.
"Now that they have released Al-Mustapha, we are confident that our Daddy G.O will soon be freed.
"In fact, this has become our major prayer point since we heard of the release of Al-Mustapha," a middle-aged woman said.
"Yes, we have strong belief that our Daddy G.O will regain freedom very soon. If it is the same Lagos High Court that sentenced Al-Mustapha to death that also condemned our Daddy G.O, who says our Daddy G.O will not get the same treatment?" another female member said.
Justice Dada of Lagos High Court had in a judgement delivered on January 30, 2012, convicted Al-Mustapha on the offence of conspiracy to murder and murder of Abiola on June 4, 1996.
Similarly, Rev. King was on January 11, 2007, convicted and sentenced to death by hanging by Justice Joseph Oyewole of Lagos High Court, for the alleged murder of a church member, Ann Uzoh.
He allegedly poured petrol on the deceased for what he called "acts of fornication," and set her ablaze, along with others: Olisa Chiejina, Chizoba, Uche Chukwu Iwoba, Vivian Ezeocha, Bunmi Olisa and Nwere Jesica. He was arrested in July 2006.
The victim eventually died as a result of injuries sustained from the burns. And on September 26, 2006, he was arraigned on a sixcount charge of attempted murder and murder, to which he pleaded not guilty.
King was found guilty by the trial judge.
He appealed the judgement but the Appealed Court affirmed the judgement of trial court.
However, when National Mirror visited during yesterday's service, members were still carrying on with their usual worship despite the absence of their General Overseer.
But it was noted that their population had drastically reduced compared to when Rev. King was ministering.
Even the commercial motorcyclists, popularly called Okada riders, are affected by the decrease in population as worshippers from the church have reduced.
Surprisingly, members still show absolute love and devotion to Rev. King as they share testimonies of how much he is still impacting on them, during the service.
For instance, during the announcement, the slogan by the announcer before and after the announcement was "Daddy G.O. shall live forever for us in Jesus name," and the members would give a resounding 'Amen!'
Members, especially the females, put on vests that had an inscription at the back: "Stop fighting against God and His people." Some also had an insignia that had the image of Rev. King on the necks.
Sources told National Mirror that the church allegedly receives Sunday service messages from Rev. King, even as he is still giving prophecies and performing miracles from the prison.
Indeed, during the service yesterday, the officiating minister: "If you have not redeemed your special offering that our Daddy G.O. commanded, do so immediately after the service."
In a testimony that was read by the minister, some members of Nanka Branch in Anambra State, testified how Rev. King's prophecies to them in April had started yielding results.
The minister said that Rev. King had asked all members to pray for financial breakthrough and they would receive the miracle within three months.
"How many of you love our Daddy G.O. Open your mouth and thank God seriously for our Daddy G.O in Jesus name," he said.

Nigerians Dare Patience Jonathan To Debate With Prof Wole Soyinka

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 07:59 AM PDT

Some Nigerians on Sunday asked the wife of the President, Patience Jonathan, to make herself available for a debate with Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, if she thinks she has the "qualification" to do so.
The call came on the heels of the diatribe the First Lady launched against Soyinka in which she described the Nobel laureate as an "embarrassment" for attributing the crisis rocking Rivers State to her and her husband, President Goodluck Jonathan, after one of the lawmakers, Hon Evans Bipi, openly confessed...

Nigerians, who took to Twitter and other social networks to voice their concern over Patience Jonathan's outburst, called on Channels Television to organise a debate for the two.

According to them, the TV station's Sunrise Daily, a news and current affairs programme that features prominent Nigerians, who are experts in their areas of specialisation, will provide a level playing ground for the duo to thrash out the knotty issues they were arguing on.

To actualise their dreams, a cross section of them sent messages in a tweet to the handle of the programme as well as the main official handle of the television station on Sunday.

A Twitter user, with the name Abdul Slimzy said, "It would be really nice to see Patience Jonathan and Wole Soyinka argue on Channels TV @sunrisedailynow in English Language o."

An anonymous reader on a blog said, "Kindly call on Channels TV to organise a debate between Prof. Wole Soyinka and Dame Patience Jonathan. I know we go laugh pass 'Night of a Thousand Laugh'."

Another user of the micro-blogging service with the name, Hig-Wayne Cannon, said he would be looking forward to the debate on national TV as it would be a clash of the titans. Cannon notes, "You can expect a volcanic grammatical literary of freestyles. What a collabo #Titans."

However, some users of the micro-blogging service boasted that the wife of the President would come out tops after the debate. One of such users of the social network who beat his chest on this was Yakubu Dogara. He says, "I bet it that Dame Patience will win the debate as it will be unwise for the Prof. (Wole Soyinka) to attend much more utter a word."

Another Nigerian said on twitter that Soyinka, who clocked 79 Saturday, should simply steer clear of joining issues with the First Lady and save himself from being on the receiving end of public bashing which he described as "lethal weapon" emanating from her.

The social network user noted, "Prof, even at 79, we still need you around."

On Naira Land, a Nigerian with the name, My Time, argued, "I still maintain that Patience Jonathan has no moral justification to attack the professor. Her only portfolio is being the wife of the President. Soyinka has achieved a lot and demands respect. He is one of our national icons and a gift to this nation. He commands more respect outside the shores of this country than she does and can ever get."

Deeper Life wedding: Doctrinal issues revisited

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 07:53 AM PDT

Many commentaries have been published in print and on-line media following the wedding of the second son of Pastor W. F. Kumuyi and its immediate aftermath. The propriety and the doctrinal basis of the response from the church have been questioned and generally condemned and vilified.

Most commentators including notable church leaders apparently seem to agree on one point, that the couple was punished for violating Deeper Life tradition or doctrine, but not bible and kingdom doctrines. The general opinion, in some cases, expressed, using very strong language, was that using makeup and wearing earrings or the particular wedding gown worn by the bride are wholly supported by the holy scriptures and should not in any righteous way incur the church's displeasure, opprobrium and sanction. Some commentators went as far as tagging the church  puritanical and outmoded  and in addition accused her of portraying a damaging picture of Christianity.

Before we crucify the church, I think it is appropriate that we examine the scriptures like good Bereans and determine whether the church is on the right track or not. In the Bible, it is written "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with braided hair, or pearls, or costly array: but (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works (1 Timothy 2: 9 – 10)." In other words, it is unbecoming of a woman professing godliness, that is, a woman who claims to be a Christian to put on gold, pearls or costly clothes.

Wearing jewelry is the lifestyle of women generally, but this should not be the case with those who desire to please God and are interested in going to heaven. Even under the Old Testament dispensation, it was never the perfect will of God that His people should decorate themselves with precious metals or other ornaments. When Jacob and his family were going to Bethel to worship as directed by God, they discarded and buried those things that were offensive to God like their idols and earrings (Genesis 35: 1 – 4).

After the children of Israel made and worshipped the golden calf at Sinai, God commanded them to remove their jewelry: The scriptures noted, "So after they left Mount Sinai, the people of Israel no longer wore jewelry (Exodus 33: 6, Good News Bible, Todays English Version); therefore the people of Israel stripped themselves of their ornaments, from Mount Horeb onward (Exodus 33: 6, Revised Standard Version)." More than a century later, during the time of Gideon, the Bible thought it necessary to explain that the golden earrings found with the children of Israel were spoils of war taken from Ishmaelites (Judges 8: 24). With these ornaments Gideon made an ephod, and the children of Israel worshipped it. Regrettably, the sin at Sinai pertaining to the making and worshipping the golden calf was again repeated. This confirms the sad truth that human beings will either idolize ornaments or mould idols with them. Decking oneself with jewelry is usually the product of haughtiness, pride, seduction or immoral inclination (Isaiah 3: 16 – 26).

God is against the use of jewelry, because any one using jewelry is joining affinity with spiritual Ishmael and Babylon. In the book of Revelation, two women were used as symbols, the first related to spiritual Israel (a woman clothed with the sun) and the second, spiritual Babylon (a woman decked with jewelry – the kingdom of Satan). Concerning Spiritual Israel, the bible said "And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars. . . . she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to His throne (Revelation 12: 1 – 5)." But concerning spiritual Babylon (kingdom of Satan), the Bible stated: "So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornications: And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH (Revelation 17: 3 – 5)." Observe that the first woman did not wear jewelry, but was clothed with the sun. God clothes Himself with light (Psalm 104: 2), which was the way He clothed Adam and Eve before the fall. When Moses came down from God's presence at Mount Sinai, his face was shinning as light. This is the beauty that God admires. It is not the beauty that results from using makeup and jewelry, the beauty that is carnal. It is the beauty of holiness (Psalm 110: 3).

The second woman was decked with jewelry, and was called Babylon, the mother of harlots. It's interesting to note that harlots always seek ways to enhance physical beauty, allurement and seduction. What God admires in a woman is holiness characterized by a meek and quiet spirit, not jewelry or makeup (1 Peter 3: 3, 4) and a Christian ought to have the mind of God (1 Corinthians 2: 16). It's noteworthy that the only people the Bible described as using makeup were the murderous and adulterous Jezebel and backslidden Israel called a harlot (2 Kings 9: 30, Jeremiah 4: 30 and Ezekiel 23: 40).

The hallmarks of true religion are humility, simplicity, sobriety, modesty, self-denial and self-crucifixion. That was the lifestyle of Christ and the early disciples. Flamboyance, jamboree, jesting and wantonness reveal a lifestyle destitute of the Spirit of Christ. What we call church wedding and reception these days are programs characterized by the display of flamboyance, hypocrisy and pride. I suppose that the white gown and the veil are symbols for the virginity and spotlessness of the bride. Is it not an insult to the holiness of God and the desecration of the altar to wed a woman in white when she is no longer a virgin? Even if she is still a virgin, must she tell the world through the gown she is wearing? The groom wears a suit and continues to wear it after the wedding. However, the bride spends a lot of money on the gown and cannot wear it again. What is the moral or economic justification for that? Is it not to satisfy the iniquitous desire to be like the world? Can she not wear a gown she can wear publicly after the wedding? Did God not warn His Children not to follow the world in its madness and folly (John 2: 15 – 17)?  In receptions, the kind of dancing one sees makes one to shudder. The ladies sway, roll and rock their bottoms in seductive ways and yet call it worshipping God. Tufia. Self, not God is glorified the way food is served and people are invited to the high table and money is sprayed. The Holy Angels must be shedding tears.

When I read what some of these "ministers of the gospel" wrote I was highly disturbed. It made me to wonder where they were coming from. The steps taken by Deeper Life are wholly scriptural and the underpinning doctrine is bible-based. We ought to thank God for Pastor W. F. Kumuyi. Deeper Life has changed the religious terrain in Nigeria and by the Grace of God has been directly and indirectly a major force in restoring holiness to the body of Christ. No wonder Satan is fighting him so severely. I would just want to encourage him to persevere. Men of right spiritual understanding appreciate his work.

Kiss of death! Canadian teenager mauled while trying to kiss a Lion

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 07:21 AM PDT

A Canadian teen got a little too close for comfort to a lion she was helping care for in a South African rehabilitation facility when the beast tried to drag her into its cage by the legs.

Lauren Fagen, 18, was volunteering at the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre when she leaned in to kiss the beast's fur.The Montreal girl was then pulled into the animal's cage, her legs gnawed and gashed by the lion and its mate, before she was finally dragged away by a lifesaving fellow volunteer.

It began as a dream. Fagen was all set to attend McGill University in the fall and wanted toindulge a lifelong passion for animals.
She travelled to the Limpopo province of South Africa to work with the animals at Moholoholo, a center established in 1991 for the rehabilitation of wild African animals like rhinos and honey badgers.

But Fagen wasn't feeding 5-year-old Duma, a male, when the attack occurred. She was leaning into kiss its fur, reports the Canadian Globe and Mail.
'I didn't realize he could stick his paws through,' Fagen said of the powerful feline.
The lion grabbed her and dragged her legs into the cage, where it began tearing at them. Its mate joined in, as well, by pouncing on the girl's feet.
'I should have died or lost a leg. It was a miracle that I survived,' she said.
Fagen said the big cat was being 'very, very friendly' before the attack hinting she may have been lulled into a false sense of safety.
And she told ABC News via Skype from a Pretoria hospital that she still thinks the lion meant no real harm to her.

Antichrist Church In Nigeria Where Animals Are Offered As Sacrifice and Visitors Served With Alcohol Discovered

Anti-christ Church Where Animals Are Killed For Sacrifice and Visitors Served With Alcohol Discovered In Ogun State, Nigeria

Welcome to a weird church where animals are freely slaughtered for sacrifice. As you step into this place of worship, you are confronted with the sight of a spot on the right that will make you conclude that you may have strayed into a slaughterhouse.
Even though insinuations of a slaughterhouse stick out starkly and grisly, this is by no means an abattoir. There is neither buying and selling of meat in this worship centre called As God Said, It Must Done, The Temple of The Most High God.

An evangelist at the church explained that the spot is called the 'Earth Altar' and that it's where different types of sacrifices are offered unto God.

Located on a street named after it, Off Fakunle Street, Oke-Aro in Ogun State, a suburb near Lagos, the church is neither Pentecostal nor orthodox. All the same, both the shepherd and the sheep are strongly convinced that they are serving the living God the right way.

This reporter gathered that the blood splattered all over the 'Earth Altar' is that of animals. Similarly, in sharp dissonance, the mode of worship verges on the oddity, just as members cling on to what many people will consider unusual beliefs and teachings of the church.

As your curiosity wanders untrammeled at the multihued sight of the church and the strangeness of its name, you meet Prophet Blessed Dike, the general overseer and self-styled seer.

He tells you with celestial audacity that God revealed the name of the church to him while in a trance. "While I was praying God gave me the name of this church from the Book of Isaiah 46 verse 11", he said.

A probing by this reporter further revealed that besides the 'Earth Altar', the church also has a place called the 'Holy of Holies.' A worker in the church, Mr. Isaiah Anyaehie explains that the 'Holy of Holies' was put up as a replica of the ark of God built by Moses in the Old Testament.

Like the pool of Bethesda in the Bible, members believe that anytime you are sick and you climb into the 'Holy of Holies', you would instantly receive your healing.

Here, members show forth when they also want to receive forgiveness of sins and other requests from God. "We have access to the 'Holy of Holies' anytime there is a special programme in the church. When you ascend into the 'Holy of Holies', you would be healed of whatever ailment you have and whatever you ask God for, He would do it for you," another member said.

While you are still wondering why the entire premises is painted in red and white, the self-styled seer tells you that white symbolizes peace while red is totemic as it blots out sins.

"God used the blood to wipe out the sins of Adam and Eve. We offer sacrifices because that is what God commands. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and other great men in the Bible offered sacrifices," he said.

A female member of the church revealed to this reporter that members of this church are expected to wear red or white attires every first and last Sunday of the month. On the floor of the auditorium, there are straight red lines drawn across the floor. She explained that the red lines are Angels' pathways. "God revealed to Daddy to make those pathways because angels usually visit the church," she said.

There are two types of sacrifices that are offered in As God Said It Must Be Done, the Temple of The Most High God, this reporter gathers. There is the sacrifice of atonement, which is offered when seeking forgiveness of sins from God.

In carrying out the sacrifice, the prophet slaughters whatever animal the member provides at the 'Earth Altar' and 'forgiveness' is obtained from God after the prophet has prayed and blessed the person.

There is also the sacrifice of thanksgiving offered when a member wants to thank God for a favour granted him by God. The type of animal used for this type of sacrifice may vary based on individual needs. "You can bring a cow, a ram, a goat, a chicken or even a dove," another female member of the church said.

Creepy and funny caveats are never in short supply at As God Said It Must Be Done, the Temple of The Most High God. For instance, a woman who is in her monthly cycle is not allowed to enter into the temple; else, she may be visited by God's wrath.

Prophet Dike said "It's a sin for a woman to come into the church while she is observing her menstrual flow. It is a very terrible thing. No woman has the right to come into the presence of God while she is menstruating."

Despite his weird doctrines, Prophet Dike is very hospitable albeit in a way that one may describe as shocking. As soon as visitors to the church among whom was this reporter stepped into the auditorium, he instructs his workers to bring them refreshments.

This consists of two cartons of canned Guinness, popularly known as small stout. While you are yet to overcome the shock of seeing a prophet of God serve alcoholic drinks in the church, he further instructs that some bottles of whisky be brought to entertain his guests.

Seeing the surprise on the faces of his visitors, he immediately explained the reasons for his actions. "There is nothing like alcohol or strong drink in the bible, so where did you get that from? In Deuteronomy 14 verse 26, God says, "You shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires, for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires, you shall eat there before the Lord your God and you shall rejoice, you and your household."

God told us to spend our income on what we want. If a man calls himself a man of God and he doesn't have money, the anointing would turn to annoyance. It is better that you drink in the House of God than to go to a public place and misbehave" he said. Before the prophet was through with attending to his visitors, he had gulped two bottles of small stout.

"Are you not afraid of going to hell" this reporter queries the prophet? Then he laughs hysterically and said "It is unfortunate that you have been taught the wrong doctrine from the time you were little. Who told you that hell exists? Heaven and hell do not exist. Can a spirit judge a spirit? There is nothing like heaven or hell. They don't exist. All the punishment is here on earth.

If a man cannot feed himself and his family, he is living in hell. If he cannot pay his house rent and cannot afford to buy a car for himself, he is living in hell. When your mates are enjoying life and you cannot enjoy it, you are living in hell.

"If you are suffering, it means that God is punishing you for something you have done, so there is no hell anywhere. When a man dies, that is the end. He does not go anywhere and God does not judge him. In Mark 12, verses 18 to 27, it is written there that "God is not the God of the dead but of the living.

"So what death are we talking about? If you are living well and you are enjoying your life, you are living in heaven. People like Aliko Dangote, Adenuga, Otedola, Obasanjo and other rich men are living in heaven already.

In the Bible, it is written that it's God's wish that we live in health and prosper even as our soul prospers."

Led by God to steal?
Reflecting on how he came into the ministry as well as his early encounter with the "holy spirit", Prophet Dike hinted "From my tender age, I used to steal a lot. Wherever any person kept money, I would steal it, even if I was not there when the money was being kept. You may have money in your pocket and you would not know when I would take it.

"I remember when my father used to hide his money in the spring bed in his room. Though I wasn't around when he kept it, but the spirit of God would lead me to where the money was and I would just go straight to the room and to the exact spot where he kept the money and steal it. I did not know that it was the hand of God that was at work in me.

"This thing continued and because of that, my father sent me to Benin after my primary education. I went there but I continued having the same problems until I finally came to Lagos. It was while I was in Lagos that Jesus appeared to me and gave me the message from God.

"On April 14, 2001 by 7am, I was approaching Omole Phase 1 Estate when Jesus appeared to me in the form of a young man. I remember that I had a cigarette in my mouth and I thought that the odour of the smoke would offend him. He told me "Son, my father is calling you".

"I had this encounter three times. In one of such encounters, Jesus came to my shop where I was a panel beater and told me, 'Son, my father has need for you. The time for panel beating is up, now is the time to panel beat your children. Father said you are too stubborn, but if you think you are stubborn, He's more stubborn than you.'

"After He said that, He disappeared and I didn't see him again. I still did not obey. I went from one shop to the other but it was one misfortune after the other. At a time, my shop got burnt and that was when I decided to obey God's instruction. That is why till date, no one can come out and say he shepherded me. I do not have any human mentor; it's God that is my mentor. He speaks to me all the time and when I need anything, I go to Him for advice. No man can say he ordained me. It was God that ordained me."

Man of God or Anti-Christ?
"People can call me names. Some may say I am an antichrist. Others may say I am Ogboni, but I do not care. My calling was foretold in the Bible. The book of Isaiah 42 verses 1-2, says "Keep silent before me, oh Islands and let the people renew their strength. Let them speak; let them come near and let them speak; let us come near together to judgment.

Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? He gave them as the dust to his sword and as driven stubble to his blow." The man from the East that God was referring to is me," Prophet Dike boasted and added that "On October 28, 2012, I met with God in the Garden of Eden.

In that revelation, Oyedepo was there, Adeboye was there, Okonkwo was there, Pope John Paul was there and so many other pastors. While we were meeting, God was very angry and told me to drive them away , because they were not doing His will and they were encouraging people to worship Jesus instead of God. Four months after that, the Pope died. God raised me to test people to know whether they are obeying the law of God or the law of men. There is nothing like the trinity. What we have is God, the Word and the Spirit. And those are the three witnesses."

God is angry with Nigeria
"One of the reasons why God is angry with Nigeria is because they have abandoned the day that God said the New Year should be celebrated. They are now celebrating January 1 as the New Year day.

It is totally wrong. New Year should be celebrated on July 10 each year and not on January 1. In the book of Leviticus 16 verse 29, God says: "This shall be a statute forever for you. In the seventh month on the tenth day of the month, you shall afflict your souls and do no work at all, whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you.", he quipped.

On the New Testament
More curious to know why some of their doctrines negate what is written in the Bible, especially in the New Testament, Prophet Dike said "the New Testament is the mind of man but the Old Testament is the mind of God.

"In the Old Testament, God spoke directly to the prophets and they wrote down what He said, but in the New Testament, the disciples only wrote their minds. For instance, there is nothing like being born again because God can never be born again. The New Testament is not the mind of God. It is men speaking and not God. In the book of Matthew for instance, what is written there is the mind of Matthew and not the mind of God. But in the Old Testament, God spoke directly to his prophets. He spoke directly to people like Moses, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Solomon and so on."

One of the cardinal points of Christianity is the belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, and that he died for the sins of the world and rose again. Prophet Dike is furious over these assertions. "Jesus was just a servant and not God. He has finished his duty on earth the same way other prophets finished their calling,he said adding "Any Christian that leaves God and starts giving glory to Jesus should be ashamed. Jesus can never be God.

He is not the savior and he did not die for anyone. Anyone that tells you that Jesus is the son of God is a fraud and is not of God. Do the Muslims worship Mohammed? No. They worship only God, but you see Christians worshiping Jesus and even equating him with God.

"In the book of Deuteronomy, God says he is the only one that should be worshiped and that we should not bow down to any image. So why do people worship Jesus when he is just a prophet? He did not die for anybody's sins. He died just like any other human being. If he died for you, why are many people still afraid to go to their villages? If you say that Jesus is the only son of God, then what was Adam? Was he not also a son?
"When Adam who was made in the image of God could not save you, then who is Jesus to save you? I don't want to hear the name of Jesus because he is not God and has never been God. God is very angry with Nigeria because they have taken His glory and given it to a mortal man. Why we have this high level insecurity is because of God's wrath."

This reporter sought to know from some members why they attend the church and if they are not skeptical of the doctrines propagated by the prophet. The leader of the men's fellowship in the church, Mr. Richard Onyekachukwu said that he would continue attending the church because God used the prophet to raise him from the dead.

His wife, Esther confirmed his claim. According to her, "My husband was admitted at LASUTH (Lagos State University Teaching Hospital) for what started as fever. The situation gradually worsened and he eventually died.

Doctors had certified him dead and his brothers had started making plans to take him to the village for burial. But when I called the prophet, without seeing my husband, he prayed for him and he came back to life."

[Report by Chinelo Obogo, Saturday Sun]

Without doubt, this man is an antichrist.

Lord have mercy! End time is here for real.

How This Pastor’s Throat Was Slashed In Church Premises And Who?

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 07:09 AM PDT

Rev. Fr. Francis Chidiebele Okoye
Who killed Rev. Fr. Francis Chidiebele Okoye, a Catholic priest attached to St Mary's Catholic Church, in Afikpo, Ebonyi State? And why was he killed? These are some of the questions agitating the minds of the parishioners and general public, even as the anniversary of the gruesome murder of the priest holds on July 31.
Fr. Okoye was slaughtered like a sacrificial lamb in the premises of the Church on July 31, 2006. The priest, who hailed from Enugwu Ukwu, in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State and shared an apartment within the Church premises with a fellow priest, was dragged out of his bedroom by his assailants, who took him to the back of the building and slashed his throat.

A source said he was decapitated. "It was a shocking act of violence. It was a gory sight. There was no doubt that Father Chidiebele's attackers came with the intention of killing him outright. They butchered an innocent man like an animal. He was almost beheaded. This is the height of wickedness and man's inhumanity to man," one of the members of the church stated.

Seven years after, the killers are still walking free, as no arrest had been made in respect of the crime. It was gathered that Fr. Okoye's murder might not be unconnected with his profound preaching against cultism, political thuggery and corrupt practices, among other social ills.

"He was a thorn in the flesh of evil people in Afikpo. On and off the pulpit, he preached against the unhealthy moral temperature of society. Some politicians, in particular, were unsettled by his ways because he warned them against encouraging young people to be cultists and political thugs. Perhaps, that was why they silenced him permanently," a parishioner, who simply identified herself as Ugochi said.

It was further gathered that as torrents of tears flowed across the community that day, a heavy downpour washed away the blood of the slain priest. It was one of the heaviest rains ever witnessed in the community.

It was gathered that at the time Father Okoye was being attacked, his neighbour was in the next room. While the former was shouting for help, the later was allegedly praying.

In an exclusive chat in his residence, Mr. Francis Ibe Inyanwachi, head master of St. Mary's Nursery/Primary School, Afikpo, disclosed that when the reverend father was asked what he did when his colleague was being attacked, he said that he was praying.

"The priest said that he was praying when Father Chidiebele was shouting and calling on him. He said that he knelt down to pray. That was what he told us. Since I was not there, I don't know what happened but I know that they killed him behind the house because we saw the blood on the ground in the morning," he said.

Offering insight on the barbarous treatment meted on the priest, Mr. Inyanwachi, who described the deceased as a family friend, said: "After Reverend Father Chidiebele's ordination, he was posted to Afikpo as assistant priest, to come and help another reverend father. I think normally after one year, they (assistant priests) are usually posted out. So, when his mates were posted out, he was so good I think the reverend father asked the bishop that he (Father Chidiebele) should continue."

"He was so outspoken that he condemned everything that was bad or evil. I think that day he was killed, he had gone from house to house, cautioning some group of students whom I learnt were cultists. He was trying to tell them to come back, that cultism was not good. They said when he came back, he did not even eat. Then he went to Mgbom (a neighbouring village), where one of them asked him to preach to him. Thereafter, he returned to his apartment at the church. I suspect that his attackers were cultists, who didn't want their members to be retrieved from cultism."

Inyanwachi, whose son is also a Catholic priest, added: "The room of the other reverend father was before his own room. I don't know how they managed to know his room. They came into his room and brought him out from where he was sleeping. He was shouting: Father! Father!! Father!!! They brought him out and cut his throat or so. I think he died while they were rushing him to the hospital.

"That day, I didn't initially know what happened; it was my daughter who went to Mass at St Patrick's (at Ndibe) that informed me. They said the Catechist announced that armed robbers attacked Father Chidiebele and that they should be praying for him. On her way to the hospital, she heard that he had died. So, when I was coming back from Mass at St. Patrick's, I saw the girl, crying. I asked what was wrong and she said they had killed Father Chidiebele. That was all. He was a young man.

"On the day his corpse was buried, it was brought here before being taken to his home town. It was announced that his people said they would retaliate on anybody, coming from Afikpo. I insisted that I must go. It was only the priest, my daughter and I that went there. We had to stay with the family. There were seats kept for the people of Afikpo in the Church but I alone couldn't have gone to sit there. I went and consoled the mother. In fact, his mother was sitting in the front row and I went and touched her. After the Mass, we took his remains to St. Theresa's Cathedral, Abakaliki, where he was buried. I've gone several times to see his family. He was very fond of coming to my house but he was a priest for the whole parish. He was a special friend of this house."

Effort to speak with the reverened father, who occupied an apartment next to the late Fr. Chidiebele's the day he was killed, proved abortive. Our reporter called him several times on telephone but he refused to speak on the matter.

Police sources, which craved anonymity confirmed the incident but said no arrest had been made since it happened on July 31, 2006.

"You know, it is a murder case; so, it remains open. We are still working on it," said the source at the Ebonyi State Police Command, Abakaliki.

The heart of man is desperately wicked.

Man kills wife During Naming Ceremony Of Their Twins In Edo

Posted: 15 Jul 2013 07:07 AM PDT

Tragedy struck in Edo State at the weekend when a couple preparing for the naming ceremony of their twins engaged in a fight which led to the death of the wife, simply identified as Osarumwense.
A witness said the couple, which celebrated the birth of the twins last Sunday, were preparing for the naming ceremony yesterday when the tragedy occurred.

The incident occurred after a heated argument over the breastfeeding of the infants.
The husband, Mr. Endurance Enadeba, had reportedly asked his wife to breastfeed the babies when they were crying while the woman said she wanted to urinate first.
It was gathered that the husband hit his 18-year-old wife on the head with an object, during the violent disagreement which led to her death.
After Osarumwense was pronounced dead, her father, Mr. Eghenayariore wept profusely, charging the corpse to revenge her death.
"He killed my daughter because of breastfeeding. Now that the twins are at home, who will give them breast milk? Why did he kill my daughter? My daughter was born in 1996. We were preparing to name the babies tomorrow (yesterday)," Eghenayariore said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Moses Eguavoen, confirmed the incident.
He, however, said the husband had been arrested.

Thousands of people trooped to a private maternity home in Kotaworo area of Bida, in Niger state on Sunday to catch a glimpse of a baby girl said to have been delivered with a Muslim prayer Rosary (Tasabih)  on her  neck.
The middle aged mother of the baby,  Adijat was said to have been rushed to a local midwife home near the residence of Pa Mohammed Bello Masaba, the  Polygamist at about 2 pm on Sunday and after minutes of labour, she was delivered of the baby.

According the owner of the local maternity home, Alhaji Abubakar Baiwa Shasha who took delivery of the baby, "I was shocked  when in the course of the delivery the baby came with a Chisbih on her neck. The baby was born with a black rosary at delivery point."

"But I was surprised  when after a while the rosary turned to white to the amazement of the few people around."

As soon as the news spread round the town, thousands trooped to the the maternity home shouting "Allahu Akibar; Allahu Akibar (God is Great) as they scrambled to see and touch the baby. "

Efforts to get the father of the baby, Isah, a native of Loma in Kwara State were fruitless as he refused to talk to our Correspondent.

An Islamic scholar, Malam Idiris Ndajiwo said the delivery of the baby with the mysterious rosary "showed the greatness of Allah. The delivery of the baby today, in this town and this area (Kutaworo) is a big thing to us Muslims. This actually goes to show that Allah is in control of what happens to any one and in the whole world."

Another well wisher and the Personal Assistant to popular Islamic scholar, Pa Mohammed Bello Masaba, the octogenarian super polygamist, Alhaji Muktari Salau Bello said, "we have never witnessed such kind of miracle before in this town, but we thanked Allah for what He has done. In fact what happened is a miracle and we are very happy about it".

The baby was later taken to the Etsu Nupe's palace where they were received and blessed by the royal father , Alhaji Yahaya Abubukar.

Confirming the delivery of the mysterious girl when contacted on phone, the Emirate Secretary Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman said, "it is true. The baby was brought to the Palace and she was received and blessed by His royal highness, the Etsu Nupe and they have since left for their home. "
