| Chocolate City mess gets worse Posted: 13 Jul 2013 12:06 PM PDT Even as the music industry is presently grappling with the malaise of artists who quit their record labels suddenly and while still under contract and while their labels are yet to recover the massive financial investment on them, that of Chocolate City has taken a turn for the worse. CC is one of the most successful record labels in the country. MI and Ice Prince are its most successful artists. Others being primed for similar success included Jesse Jagz, Nosa, Victoria Kimani and BrymO. A crack in the wall appeared however when Jagz opted not to renew his expired contract. Even as the dust was yet to settle over his exit from the label that has his senior brother, MI, as its vice president, BrymO suddenly walked away too. Unlike Jagz however, BrymO was still under contract, and so the battle began. CC insisted on him. BrymO said he knows even Nigeria's judicial system can't save him. With little heard of the matter in the last couple of weeks, reports surfaced this week that CC's CEO, Audu Maikori, had finally spoken and disclosed why Jagz and BrymO. According to the reports, Maikori said BrymO is jealous of Ice Prince and that Jagz was acting against CC's policies. In a swift reaction to the report however, CC has indicated that it is ready to get right down and dirty by suing all the online media publications allegedly quoting Maikori on the real reasons for Jagz and BrymO's CC exits | ||

| Meet Thomas Beatie, World’s First Pregnant Man [PHOTO, VIDEO & HISTORY] Posted: 13 Jul 2013 11:58 AM PDT ![]() Since hitting the headlines in 2008 for being the world's first pregnant man Thomas Beatie has gone on to give birth to three children with his wife Nancy. This year the couple's ten year relationship broke down after Nancy, who had a hysterectomy before the couple married in 2003, started to drink heavily and Thomas was granted sole custody of their three children Austin, Jensen and Susan. Today Thomas, who still has a womb but now also has a penis, has found love with day care worker Amber Nicholas. The couple want children and Thomas says if Amber struggles to conceive then he is happy to step in. ![]() Talking to the Sunday Mirror 38-year-old Thomas, who had his first sex change operation 15 years ago said: ' Amber and I are totally smitten. We would love kids together and we are already discussing it. 'Being pregnant was the most incredible experience, but we want Amber to do it this time around. I think it would be amazing to experience pregnancy as the father.' Surgeons have advised Thomas, who is originally from Hawaii but now lives in Arizona, against getting pregnant because he is biologically a man following a full sex change five years ago. But it is still physically possible because he still has his womb Thomas says: 'It is just about which one of us would be more successful at having a baby, 'It is even possible we could both be pregnant at the same time. Amber suggested we both try to get pregnant and whoever gets there first goes through with it.' ![]() At the same time as trying for a baby Thomas is battling with the courts to get divorced from his wife Nancy. An Arizona judge is blocking the action by refusing to recognise that the couple were ever actually legitimately wed.The judge believes that because both Beatie and his wife have female sex organs their union could equate to a same sex marriage which is not legal in Arizona, arguing that he cannot find any legal authority that defines a man as someone who is able to give birth. Talking on This Morning today Thomas talked about his struggle to get their marriage legally recognised. He said: "Divorce is never fun. This is extremely complicated and uncharted territory. 'We were married ten years ago, we own property together, all our finances are bundled up together. 'Legally I am a man but there is a hiccup in recognising the marriage. 'I wanted to live and die with Nancy. 'She is working out some issues but she is still a friend and hopefully one day she will be better and be able to co-parent our children.' | ||
| "if i dont allow daddy to do it, he sleeps with my younger sister- 13 yr old girl Posted: 13 Jul 2013 07:55 AM PDT ![]() That night, Adeleke, a commercial bus driver, raped his daughter as the little girl cried in agony. "Blood was coming out from my body. He used a white singlet to clean it. I was crying but he told me to stop so that the landlord would not hear. My sister was in the room at the time. My father started sleeping with my younger sister last year," the girl told our correspondent as she looked down at her toes. Bola's younger sister, Tolu (not real name), is just 10 years old. In any African culture, sleeping with one's child is the most abominable form of incest. But once in a while, reports of such incidents come up. Such traumatic experience most times leaves a very damaging effect on the abused child and it may take substantial effort by specialists to make such child live a normal life. The case of Adeleke's daughters will bring tears to many eyes. Unlike their peers who have the love of their parents and live normal lives of going to school and coming back home to the warm embrace of their parents, Bola and Tolu close from school every day with the trepidation of what awaits them at home. They rarely have good food to eat as their father barely provide for their feeding when he comes back from his commercial driving job. Their mother moved out in 2012, leaving them at the mercy of a predatory father who rarely had time for the children's welfare. The children's mother, Kemi, spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Saturday. Her voice shook as she expressed shock at what her husband had done to their daughters. She told Saturday PUNCH, "I moved out last year because it became clear I was not safe in his house anymore. My children and I were suffering. He was not taking care of us in anyway. We rarely had food to eat. "He would beat me at the slightest provocation. When the beating was too much and it got to the stage where my mother was the one bringing food for us to eat, I took my children to live with my mother and I moved to Ibadan.Did Kemi starve her husband of sex when she was still with him? She replied, "Sir, you need to understand that my husband was the kind of person who wanted sex every day. After two children, should we still be acting like children when it comes to sleeping with each other? When our correspondent spoke with Kemi, she was still in Ibadan at the time, promising to come for her children the following day. Asked what she would say to her husband when she saw him, Kemi said, "I don't want to see that man again. I just don't want to lay my eyes on him. That man is the devil himself." On Monday, Kemi finally came for the children who were kept in custody of the Ikotun Police Division, pending the outcome of the test conducted on them at the Igando General Hospital and their father's arraignment. She broke down in tears as she pleaded to take them with her. When our correspondent saw the two children, they did not seem to understand what was happening. The older victim spoke quietly, looking at her toes the whole time. The young girl explained that she did not know what their father did with the white underwear he used to clean her up when he forced himself on her. She said, "I don't know what he does with the singlet. Every time he rapes me, he uses the singlet to clean me up. He does it like once in a week."Anytime I don't allow him to do it, he sleeps with my sister instead but he would not give me money for food." The older girl said she was crying after her father refused to give her money for feeding after turning him down one particular day. A neighbour saw her and asked what the problem was, she told the neighbour the truth. The neighbour placed an anonymous call to a woman she knew in a not-for-profit organisation, who in turn informed Mrs. Esther Ogwu, founder of the Esther Child Rights Foundation. On Friday, June 5, 2013, the police were informed and Adeleke was apprehended by men of the Ikotun Police Division. Adeleke did not utter a single word of denial. "It is true I was sleeping with them. Sometimes, I just have the urge to do it. When I cannot control myself, I sleep with them," he said in a tape recorded by the NGO officials who first confronted him. These were the words Adeleke offered in defence when he was asked by Ogwu, the police and his landlord, why he slept with his two young daughters. Our correspondent visited Adeleke's landlord, Mr. Amos Omooye, a pastor, who magnanimously gave an apartment in his house to Adeleke and his wife to live in for free. Omooye told our correspondent, "Adeleke has been living in my house for the last 13 years. I never suspected he could do something as heinous as this. Ogwu, who has been handling the children's case since Adeleke's act was unearthed, told our correspondent that the mother had initially been apologetic about taking custody of her children instead of them being handed over to government officials for rehabilitation. She told our correspondent, "Even though I have seen cases like this before, it still surprises me that with the abundance of brothels around, a man can still take his own children and rape them, not once but over a period of two years. "When I asked him why he did it, Adeleke simply said, 'I just like doing it with them anytime I have the urge'. I was shocked. At the moment, we cannot rule out the option that he probably was sleeping with the children for fetish reasons. "It is also sad that the mother, who could have noticed what was happening to the children, did not when she was still with the father. You have to understand that the rape started when she was still with the man. "This is why parents need to maintain a cordial relationship and communication with their children so they will have the courage to confide in them. "My organisation only counsels parents on ways to prevent the abuse of their children, we usually leave the victims' counseling part to the government. This is why we are planning to hand these children over to the government." Ogwu said counseling helps to improve the chances of young victims like Adeleke's children to live normal lives. But she added that even at that, the memory of the molestation they had gone through would likely live with them for the rest of their lives. Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ngozi Braide, said Adeleke's case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department. "He is going to be charged to court as soon as possible," she said. Adeleke was indeed charged to court on two counts of defilement in a family court at Ikeja Chief Magistrate's Court, Lagos. Before his case was assigned, our correspondent met a woman, said to be Adeleke's girlfriend at the court premises. "To say the truth, when I asked Adeleke if he indeed did it, he admitted he did it. But what has happened has happened. The devil can use anybody," the woman said. Nigeria has not set up a database for paedophiles as is the case in some developed countries. This may make it difficult to track multiple offenders who are often let off the hook after out-of-court settlement by families. A report by The PUNCH in April revealed that victims' families often opt to settle out of court in order to put the shame of the incident behind them. Unlike the often-reported cases of children being raped by outsiders or neighbours, Adeleke preyed on his vulnerable daughters. It may never be known the extent of the damage that has been done to the lives of Bola and Tolu. In the meantime, the family court has ordered that the children should be transferred to a juvenile home at Idi-Araba, Lagos for a period of three months. Punch | ||

| Pastor Ajanaku’s Complexion: Bleaching Or Vitiligo? Posted: 13 Jul 2013 04:57 AM PDT ![]() Still wonder how a man will have this kind of complexion and will still not agree with the press that he's bleaching. This fair-skinned Pastor Ajanaku has said it to a lot of people that his skin is naturally like that. Is it Vitiligo, the skin disease that led the late Pop legend, Michael Jackson to have totally changed the colour of his skin or what? Well, this is what the man has to say about his complexion, "If you know me two, three or four years ago you will see that I'm fair in complexion and I have so many hair that covers my face and every time I tried to remove it, it grows back. If I removed it today, it will grow tomorrow or next tomorrow but you know there are certain things that can't be easy for human beings to understand. God is greater than any story that is why we call him mystery that is why there is no story that is greater than God and that is why academically, we call men handsome but because God is very great, we now call him Awesome, that is, beyond human understanding,. The whole church knows and they normally buy soaps for me, it is the church that buys the soap, the soap is Rhome and it is a toilet soap. If anybody really wants to understand Pastor Ajanaku let them come closer to me. I have never by any reason eaten in anybody's presence in my life and when I'm eating only my wife and my children can see me. Nobody has ever seen me open my mouth to eat in the public. Even before my marriage nobody has ever seen me put food into my mouth, so what will people say about that?" | ||
| Just To Speak At An Event Nigerian Company Pays Former US President Bill Clinton ₦100M Posted: 13 Jul 2013 04:57 AM PDT ![]() Just to speak at an event in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, a Nigerian company paid the former American President, Bill Clinton, $700,000 (over ₦100 million), the New York Times disclosed on Thursday. The New York Times did not disclose the name of the company which handed Clinton the huge sum of money.Clinton, since he left office, has visited Nigeria many times, the last two being a guest speaker at the launch of Eko Atlantic City and Thisday Awards. America's influential newspaper did not also disclose when the money was paid but said Bill Clinton made $17 million (₦2.5 billion) from speeches last year alone. The disclosure was made as the newspaper revealed also that Hillary Clinton will be paid $200,000 to offer pithy reflections and Mitch Albom-style lessons from her time as the nation's top diplomat."The $200,000 she commands appears to be comparable to what Bill Clinton receives for speeches delivered in this country, though Mr. Clinton — who earned $17 million from speeches last year — has collected much more outside the United States, including the $700,000 he was paid when he spoke to a company in Lagos, Nigeria," The New York Times said. Some of the businessmen who had invited Bill Clinton to Nigeria include Nduka Obaigbena, publisher of ThisDay newspaper whose workers protested in May 2013 for being owed months of unpaid salaries. As for Hillary Clinton, the newspaper said next month, Mrs. Clinton will speak at a meeting of the Global Business Travel Association in San Diego (a convention her husband addressed for $250,000 last June), and in the fall she will deliver speeches at the conference of the American Society of Travel Agents in Miami. | A Zimbabwean Manhoòd Stretches To Knee Level After He Had S*x With Another Man's Wife Posted: 13 Jul 2013 03:30 AM PDT ![]() A Zvishavane man died last Tuesday morning at a Bulawayo hospital in a suspected case of runyoka which saw his manhood elongating to knee-level after he allegedly has s*x with a headman's wife. The now deceased, whose name could not be ascertained by the time of going to press, is believed to be from Chief Mazvihwa's area in Zvishavane, Midlands Province. The man's mysterious condition reportedly sent shivers down the spines of some patients, visitors and hospital staff at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH). He was reportedly crying and writhing in agony, and died before receiving medical attention. A source from the hospital said before the deceased took his last breath, he had confessed that he had been having s*x with a headman's wife who is suspected to have been 'fenced' by her husband. The mysterious 'central locking system' is popularly known as runyoka. It is traditionally regarded as a safety lock applied on both men and women to enforce fidelity. It is said that a person fences his or her spouse so that they do not have s*xual relations with other people. Indulging in s*xual intercourse with a 'locked' person often results in inexplicable illness that normally leads to death. However, some sources who are family with traditional charms have claimed to "Zimbabwe Latest News" that if one uses a condom while having s*x with a 'locked' person, the juju usually won't work. "There was drama on the day that he got admitted to the hospital as people jostled to catch a glimpse of his 'stretched hosepipe'. Nurses ran around trying to assist him but unfortunately he died before they attended to him. Even nurses who tried to assist him before he died said his ailment was an issue with circumstances that they could not really comprehend in medical terms," said a source who requested anonymity. "Before he died he confessed that he slept with a headman's wife and was regretting that he failed to take heed of his relatives advice who warned him to stay away from the woman. Nurses tried to assist him by putting ice blocks to make his organ flaccid but it couldn't help," added the source. UBH Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Nonhlanhla Ndlovu, could not be reached for comment, but nurses at the hospital confirmed the incident. | ||
| Wole Soyinka is a big embarrassment – Patience Jonathan strikes back Posted: 13 Jul 2013 03:27 AM PDT Wife of the President, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, on Friday took on the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, for attributing the crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly to her. In a statement by her spokesman, Ayo Osinlu, the President's wife said Soyinka betrayed the moral duty that expected him, as a respected member of the society, to carefully consider all shades of issues that informed his opinions on any matter. Mrs. Jonathan said Soyinka had become an embarrassment to his admirers with his diatribe against her. The statement read in part, "Unfortunately, Soyinka betrayed moral duty in his recent diatribe against Mrs. Patience Jonathan. "Of course, this would not be the first time he would reach out against the First Lady, usually from self-righteously indignant lecterns. "In this particular instance, his verdict was that Mrs. Jonathan was 'stoking the crisis currently rocking her home state of Rivers…', and thereupon asked Mr. President to caution his wife. "The good, old Prof. reminds one of the truth that indeed, most of the giants on the street are men of like passions like everyone else. Worse still, most of them are actually standing on clay feet and would fail the test of a gentle push. "Otherwise, who would have believed that the social, civil, constitutional and sundry rights crusader Prof. would maintain a safe distance from the heart of an activity that is a potential threat to the peace, security and safety of the people of a state, then collect exaggerated stories and jaundiced perspectives from familiar propagandists and character assassins, and promptly summon the media to a "state of the nation" address. "It's an embarrassment to his throng of admirers and followers, that a sage of Prof. Soyinka's status, who used to be a gauge of public morality in this nation, would lend himself to a propaganda of high drive, to save a governor who elected to launch into a river without applicable survival skills." Mrs. Jonathan argued that the calculation was to attack the President and pull to pieces anyone associated with him, as a strategy for attracting public sympathy to the "clear underdog." She said Soyinka was only contributing to the project when he claimed that she was Governor Rotimi Amaechi's problem. In a related development, the Presidency on Friday said Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State should be held responsible for the fracas that broke out in the state House of Assembly on Tuesday. Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, said this in an interview with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Gulak said it was erroneous for someone like the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, and opposition political parties to heap the blame of the crisis on President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, when the governor himself was the one who instigated it. He said rather than being the mastermind, the President was the victim of Amaechi's alleged mischief. The presidential aide argued that the disagreement among the state lawmakers would not have degenerated to that extent if the governor had not gone to the premises contrary to the advice of the state Commissioner of Police. He alleged that it was the presence of Amaechi and his security aides that emboldened the Majority Leader and other lawmakers loyal to him to beat the anti-Amaechi lawmakers as shown in the widely-circulated video of the mayhem. Gulak said, "It is mischief to say that the President is behind the crisis in Rivers State. The President cannot be part of the crisis in that state. He is a man of peace. "The problem in Rivers State is the internal wrangling of the administration of the governor. It is sad that when there are crises in the assembly, the governor will physically drive to the House of Assembly to partake in the crises. "The fact is that in this crisis in Rivers State, the governor should be held responsible because if he did not go to the house of assembly, those guys wouldn't have been emboldened to beat people up." Gulak said the Rivers crisis was not the first time a crisis would be recorded in a state house of assembly. Citing the example of Adamawa State, where the assembly was shut for about three months because of a crisis, the presidential aide said the governor did not appear physically in the assembly and yet the crisis was resolved. He said the way out was for all parties to abide by the constitution provision which provides for separation of power. Gulak observed that Soyinka made a public comment on the matter out of ignorance. He said, "Soyinka, without knowing the fact, just went public to blame the President and his wife for what is happening in the state. He is an elder statesman, I don't want to take issues with him but I will say that he should be responsible. "I am not aware of any plan to impeach the governor and the President is not aware even if there are such plans. But what I know is that the house of assembly intended to change their leadership, rightly or wrongly, they have a constitutional right to do it if they have the majority. Reacting to Gulak's statement, the Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, Mr. David Iyofor, described the President's aide as the "Wada Nas of our time, who should be ignored." Iyofor dismissed Gulak's claim that Amaechi was responsible for the crisis in Rivers and maintained that the governor was not the five lawmakers that attempted to impeach the Speaker. "Gulak's statement lacks the necessary logic. Was Amaechi one of the five lawmakers who attempted to remove the Speaker in a House of 32 members? "Was Amaechi responsible for shooting teargas into the Government House? If Gulak does not know what to say, it is better for him to keep quiet and allow peace to reign," the governor's media aide said. Meanwhile, the Chief Security Officer, Aide De Camp and other security men attached to Amaechi may be dismissed from the police force and the State Security Service. NE gathered that the dismissal would be based on their level of involvement in the fracas that occurred in the chambers of the state house of assembly on Tuesday. The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, had already set up an investigative panel headed by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, Philemon Leha, to probe the political impasse in the state. It was learnt that the SSS was also carrying out a similar investigation to determine the involvement of its officers in the fracas. A top security source said, "The conduct of the policemen and other security officers is highly embarrassing to the police high command and they will face disciplinary committees. "Any indicted officer, whether SSS or the police, faces three types of punishment, including demotion and dismissal, which are the highest forms of punishment they can get." The Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Sir Mike Okiro, has also expressed an interest in the matter. He has called for an urgent probe into the involvement of policemen in the assault and battery of lawmakers, which was aired on television. Assistant Director (Information & Public Relations), Police Service Commission, Ferdinand Ekpe, confirmed to newsmen that Okiro had directed that investigation should establish the culpability or otherwise of the policemen in the incident. He said, "The Police Service Commission Chairman, Sir Mike Okiro, as a Nigerian, watched the incident on television and he is interested in the matter. "He has directed that investigation into the involvement of the policemen be sped up and the case should be brought to the commission after it might have been handled by the Force Disciplinary Committee." Findings indicated that the police high command was embarrassed by the conduct of the policemen that were attached to the governor for jumping into the fray between the pro and anti-Amaechi lawmakers. It was learnt that the policemen did not exhibit professionalism and good judgment expected of senior officers working in a politically-volatile environment. The Deputy Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, said the panel set up by the IG would investigate the conduct of all the policemen that were at the scene of the fracas and any one found to have breached the police code of conduct would be punished. "A policeman is a policeman everywhere, no matter who you are working with. A governor has immunity but a policeman has no immunity and if your conduct breaches the police code of conduct, you will not be spared. "Our investigation will focus on all the policemen at the scene of the fracas and any indicted officer will be dealt with accordingly. I don't want to pre-empt the investigation panel, but the fact remains that the police force will not condone any act of indiscipline," Mba stated. Reacting to the move to dismiss the officers, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Mr. Tony Okocha, said the police should bother to find out the circumstances that led to the beating of the lawmaker by the police. Okocha explained that the ADC to the governor had to defend his principal (Amaechi), who, one of the lawmakers instructed somebody from the gallery to shoot. The governor, according to Okocha, informed the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mbu Joseph, about the crisis in the House of Assembly. "When the governor got there, one of the lawmakers ordered that the governor should be shot. So, in that circumstance, what would the governor's ADC do? "The ADC to the governor did what was expected of him by defending his principal. The gallery was peopled by some youths with guns. That is why I say the police should bother to consider the circumstances that led to the ADC's action." Meanwhile, Governor Amaechi, on Thursday, raised the alarm that his life was in danger following the withdrawal of soldiers from the Government House. The governor, who expressed surprise over the development, said the soldiers were withdrawn without any prior information to the Government House. Amaechi, who spoke through his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tony Okocha, explained that with the withdrawal of some police personnel in the past and the pulling out of soldiers, his security could no longer be guaranteed as a governor. "The truth is that the governor's life is in danger and you know he has told the people of the state and Nigerians to continue to pray for him. The battle is not about Amaechi, it is about impunity, it is about harassment. "It is Amaechi today; it may be the turn of another person tomorrow. That is why we are calling on Nigerians to speak out against what is happening in the state," he said. More than 24 hours after soldiers posted to the Government House in Port Harcourt were withdrawn, a letter from the Nigerian Army (2 Brigade, Port Harcourt) was sent to the state government to explain the reason behind the action. The state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Dan Orbih, explained that though he would not subscribe to any decision that would endanger the life of the governor, Amaechi did not take any action when his (Amaechi) ADC and orderly beat up a lawmaker in the House of Assembly complex. Obuah, however, attributed the pulling out of the soldiers from the Government House to the prevalence of young civilians parading themselves as soldiers in order to oppress innocent people of the state. | ||
