(MUST READ)Jim Iyke and Nadia Buari wedding on the cards?

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 09:28 AM PDT

When the news and the video of Nollywood superstar, Jim Iyke's purported deliverance from demons went viral, some saw it as a gag by the actor to blow his image out of  proportion, while others felt there was more to it than meet the eye. Yet, there are some who felt the actor has shot his career into oblivion but one person who doesn't seem fazed by the development is his girlfriend, Ghanaian actress, Nadia Buari as the couple were spotted last weekend in Accra.

It would appear the actor is taking his 'delivered' status very seriously and keeping his itinerary not too far away from the confines of 'Holy' places as the report claims he was seen leaving a church after a night vigil with his girlfriend, Nadia.
Another report has hinted the lovers have already concluded plans to tie the nuptial in December this year, at least, so it would appear, since the 'demonic spirits' who have kept him away from marrying have been exorcised at Prophet TB Joshua's Synagogue Church of All Nations.
But one thing seems to have definitely changed about Jim, that is, his nature, which is now calmer, less asserting, and the former Sexiest Man in Nollywood is now more preoccupied with evangelising and preaching the word of God. One of his recent tweets was his way of getting back at his critics, but not the old-fashion Jim Iyke's way, but the 'delivered' Jim's way ""His mercy grants true happiness and salvation which you quest. It's devoid of popular opinion"

Nollywood Actress Foluke Daramola Confesses she Bleaches her Skin to Keep 'new' Husband!!

Popular Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola-Salako has allegedly confessed to have bleached her skin in order to keep her husband from poachers. The busty actress allegedly admitted this on a television programme 'Your View', speaking as a guest on Lagos-based Television Continental (TVC).

Foluke Daramola-Salako has changed from her former chocolate skin colour to her now-fair complexion skin colour. "Foluke further confessed that she had to do that because she needed to 'keep her man' and added that it is also the special 'thing' among Nollywood actresses to do that," a part of an online report, which monitored the TV programme, said. Your View TV Show was anchored by Yeni Kuti, daughter of late Fela Anikulapo, and two other ladies and aired on Friday morning of September 20, 2013.

Foluke Daramola-Salako was reportedly asked by one of the presenters if she applied something on her skin, which changed her skin colour, and she allegedly affirmed to have applied something to change her skin colour, according to what the online news journal published.

Hmmm...Can you do that for your husband or wife?

WOW!! 9 year old Nigerian becomes youngest Microsoft certified professional!!

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 07:41 AM PDT

Jomiloju
A primary six pupil of Role Model School, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, has emerged one of the youngest pupils to obtain the Microsoft Certified Professional certificate, Punch reports
A nine-year-old pupil of Role Model School, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos, Jomiloju Tunde-Oladipo, has emerged the youngest Nigerian Microsoft certified professional.
He came tops among 21 pupils who sat for the professional examination in Lagos.
He is now a Microsoft office specialist in office word 2010.
Jomiloju scored 769 out of 1,000 in the examination held in August.
In his examination score report, the slim-built boy performed well in Sharing and Maintaining Documents, Formatting Content, Applying Page Layout, and Reusable Content, among other subjects.
By the feat, Jomiloju has joined the league of young Microsoft certified professionals, including Nigeria's 10-year-old Anjolaoluwa Seyi-Ojo;  an eight-year-old Indian, Lavishnashree, and two Pakistanis, named Arfa and Thobani.
Microsoft Certified Professional is a certification programme provided by Microsoft Corporation. The certification is tailored towards building skills on Microsoft business solutions, focusing on client-end operating systems such as windows XP, Vista, Windows7 among others.
Jomiloju, whose certificate was signed by the Chief Executive Officer, Microsoft Corporation, Steven Ballmer, says he did not achieve this feat easily, but through persistence and hard work.
He says, "It was not all that easy, because I had attempted the examination last year, I did not make it then. But I remained focused and I put in a lot of hard work.
"At home and in the school, I am always on the computer. After school hours, if am not doing anything, I will go to my Information Communication Technology teacher, to learn more."
Jomiloju sat for the examination when he was in primary Five.
Relating his experience, Jomiloju says, "In all, I answered 20 questions, after answering a question, the computer takes you to another one. And at times, there will be an instruction to skip the next question. But the programme still directs one to come back to those questions one had earlier skipped."
But was he really scared having failed once to meet the cut off mark? He stresses that he was really afraid due to his earlier experience but he was optimistic of having success, because according to him, he has prepared well.
He also gives kudos to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tunde-Ladipo, for their support and imbuing in him the 'can do' spirit in achieving the success.
He says, "My mum and dad were very supportive. They always tell me never to give up and eventually it paid off. Moreover, they had bought the latest Dell laptop. Again, I am always fascinated about computer. The way it works and the process, and the way it organises data."
Jomiloju who is a left-handed writer, according to his parents, has been a gifted child. He has always been in love with gadgets. His mum, Toyin, says, "Jomiloju since he was baby had loved playing with gadgets, he was never interested in toys. He would pick up remote controls for both TV and air-conditioner, and he would correctly use them for their specific functions."
His father adds, "It is not that we are unnecessarily indulging him but he is such a brilliant child. He's multi-talented. He plays the saxophone, he's good on keyboard, he acts very well and he's a good swimmer.
"Each term, he participates in school drama and quiz. He also gets prizes in other subjects, apart from ICT."
Does Jomiloju want to pursue a career in software/hardware project like Bill Gates and Steve Job?  Spotting an innocent smile, the youngster nods his head in affirmative.
His school administrator, Mrs. Adesimbo Banjo, who speaks glowingly about Jomiloju, says the feat recorded by her pupil is a tonic for other pupils.
His ICT teacher, Mr. Mathew Alo, also commends Jomiloju for the feat.
He adds, "Jomiloju was taught all the necessary things he needed to know and he came out as the most outstanding among  20 others from different schools in Lagos.
His class teacher, Mrs. Elizabeth Ogunrinola, says Jomiloju takes his studies seriously. She states, "He is not only good in ICT, but in other subjects. He is hard working and well behaved."
For Jomiloju, he's not resting on his oars yet, as he says he is still going to seek more Microsoft certifications.
"I still want to sit for more examinations. I will still do excel and power points," he says.

UNBELIEVABLE!! Boko Haram movie Is Finally out!!

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 06:13 AM PDT

DVDs for sale are pictured in a store on September 24, 2013 in Accra. The new film by Ghanaian-Nigerian director Pascal Amanfo "Boko Haram" has been banned by censors in Ghana and shunned by cinema owners in Nigeria. AFP PHOTO
A vicious would-be suicide bomber is heading for Nigeria's vast metropolis of Lagos and only a down-on-her-luck prostitute can stop a horrific attack.
This ominous fiction forms part of "Boko Haram", a new film by Ghanaian-Nigeria director Pascal Amanfo, which has been banned by censors in Ghana and shunned by cinema owners in Nigeria.
DVDs for sale are pictured in a store on September 24, 2013 in Accra. The new film by Ghanaian-Nigerian director Pascal Amanfo "Boko Haram" has been banned by censors in Ghana and shunned by cinema owners in Nigeria. AFP PHOTO
A movie inspired by the very real and brutal Islamist group active in Nigeria was potentially so inflammatory that it was released in the country with the title "Nation Under Siege" to avoid a backlash.
"Boko Haram", loosely translated, means "Western education is forbidden" and the group has said it is fighting to impose a strict Islamic state in mainly Muslim northern Nigeria.
Amanfo admits his film raises uncomfortable questions about the Boko Haram conflict, which has left thousands dead in northern Nigeria since 2009 — including the 40 students massacred in their sleep at the Yobe State College of Agriculture on September 29.
"I want to provoke people to see these things," he said.
But he was not expecting to see it banned.
Brisk sales in Ghanaian capital
For weeks after its March release, the film made brisk sales in Accra, where DVDs are sold on the street from shipping container store fronts or off makeshift wooden shelves for a couple of dollars.
But when the Ghanaian film control board found out about "Boko Haram", it ordered all the promotional posters torn down, saying the film was released without authorisation, while police swooped down on vendors at a busy bus station in the capital and confiscated the copies they were selling.
Its producer was also arrested and only freed after paying a 2,000 cedi ($920, 680 euro) fine.
"We would not allow a film with the title 'Boko Haram' to be released in Ghana," said Ken Addy of the Ghana Cinematographic Exhibition Board of Control. "We realised this was a film we had to be careful about so as not to antagonise a neighbouring country."
Some scenes depict defenceless villagers being gunned down and children murdered by jihadist gunmen, evoking the style of attack Boko Haram has used during its uprising.
Some aspects of the plot are inspired by popular but unsubstantiated conspiracy theories, including claims that senior Nigerian politicians are behind the bloodshed.
In one contentious incident in the film, an extremist discusses a safe house in Lagos financed by a lawmaker sympathetic to Boko Haram.
Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan said last year he believed Boko Haram backers were in his government, but later distanced himself from that remark. No politician or official has ever been concretely tied to the insurgency.
The Ghana film board chief Addy declined to comment on its content beyond saying that "Boko Haram" would not get approval for sale in Ghana without a name change and the removal of certain gruesome scenes.
Telling the stories of our society
Mustapha Adams, head of Ghana's Film Distributors Association, speculated that some were concerned the film sought to arouse sympathy for Boko Haram, or even that finance had potentially been raised among supporters of the extremist group.
"There were a lot of questions," he told AFP.
For Adams, the paramount issue is ensuring that Ghana and Nigeria, which are both trying to develop their cultural sectors, do not crack down on free artistic expression.
He described the response to "Boko Haram" by Ghanaian officials as an overreaction, saying: "What is there to hide?"
In Nigeria, the film was released on DVD but Amanfo said many cinema owners recoiled when approached about screening the movie, which cost roughly $18,000 to make.
One theatre manager in the capital Abuja said he could not imagine showing it in the city where Boko Haram blew up a United Nations building in 2011, killing at least 25 people.
Nollywood, as Nigeria's film industry is known, is the third largest in the world, churning out hundreds of typically low-budget films each year, sometimes involving witchcraft or divine intervention with a little sexual promiscuity thrown in.
Ghana's much smaller industry ("Ghollywood") generally mimics the Nollywood formula, which has generated films with massive popularity across Africa, even if their reach outside the continent has been limited.
But some of the region's directors have been trying to change both style and themes, seeking to explore contemporary issues like Islamic extremism or political corruption while moving away from traditional tales driven by magic and mysticism.
"Boko Haram" — in which a radical Islamist bomber has a life-altering conversation with a commercial sex worker — may not be a study in gritty realism.
But Amanfo said the reaction has been frustrating because he believed his film was targeted simply for trying to achieve a filmmaker's core mission: to probe current and relevant issues.
"If we can't tell the stories of our society then we have failed as artists."

SHOCKER!! Man 40yrs Locks Girlfriend’s Pants to Prevent Cheating!!

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 05:39 AM PDT

A 40 years old man was arrested for locking up his girlfriend's pants using a chastity belt for years just so that she won't cheat on him!
According to CNN, the man's abused, unidentified 25-year-old Mexican girlfriend recently had to tell cops about the abuse after she was left unable to go to the bathroom for several hours because she couldn't unlatch the padlock on her jeans.
The agonizing pain prompted the woman who lives in Zacatlame, a poverty-stricken community in the Mexican Gulf state of Veracruz  to go to the police.
She said she was too afraid of her 40-year-old boyfriend to grab a pair of scissors and cut the belt loop to which the lock was attached.
The man got arrested and he admitted to locking his girlfriend's pants an
d gave cops the key.
Police were ready to make sure he paid for abusing his girlfriend but were shocked when the woman refused to press charges once her abusive boyfriend was detained.
Unable to do anything, the police had to let the suspect free after a few hours.
The following day however,  the suspect was made to sign a statement promising never again to use a padlock on his girlfriend or abuse her in any other way.

How I Became The Hottest Actor- Odunlade Adekola Reveals!!

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 05:18 AM PDT

When he first hit the industry few years ago, we all thought he was just a flash in the pan. But one thing became obvious in the Yoruba sector of nollywood, the young chap is now out to make a statement that he is no more a naïve kid. And that is the fact that Odunlade Adekola is the most sought-after actor in the industry. No cast seems to be complete without the Abeokuta bred actor. The tall and good looking entertainer who recently added a bundle of joy to his fast growing family is surely an actor with depth and thoroughness and that seems to have been the cutting edge for him so far.

Q: At what point in your life did you realize that acting would be your career?

R: Acting for me started from my childhood days. It started from my church, Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Lafenwa, Abeokuta here. Then, whenever they wanted to do society anniversary at the church and they needed side attraction for the anniversary, we used to disturb them, a friend called Tunde and I, would tell them that we could perform as jesters at the anniversary, and they would say no problem. And I would just pick up my pen and would start writing scene 1, scene 2, and scene 3. And funnily enough, I didn't know what scene means then, I was just doing my thing. And whenever they called upon us to perform, we would perform and everyone would laugh. As at then, I was seeing the likes of Ogogo and co, I'm talking about '92,'93,'94, I was seeing them as if I could do better than what they were doing then. When I now came into the industry, and they thought me how to move, turn, do this and that, I said: emi o mope ole to yio!( I never knew it's this difficult). By and large, I can say acting for me started from my childhood days, especially from church.

Q: In the course of your growing up in the industry, what are some of the challenges that came your way?

R: There were a lot of challenges, but the greatest of them all has been the challenge of being at my best at all times. I mean the challenge of going through a script and fashioning a way to interpret the role I'm expected to play in the best possible way. I always think about how best I can deliver any role that is given to me. Let me give you an instance in this regard. Ishola Durojaye,(Alasari) in the production of one of his films then, 'Asiri Gomina Wa', there a lot of criticisms filters that Odun cannot act the role that was given to him properly as the governor in the movie, but he(Alasari) called me aside and said no matter what they say, Odun, you are going to do it. This is your script, go through it and master it. And I was thrown into confusion and a challenge as to how I would not disappoint someone that has placed such enormous confidence in me. But I thank God today, though I have been acting before Asiri Gomina Wa, it was Asiri Gomina Wa that brought me to the spotlight. And there are a lot of other productions that have also added to my relevance in the industry such as Ara Lamo which was produced by Yinka Quadri and my own productions too. I see every production as a new challenge because that might be the production some people would be seeing me in for the first time and that is what would give them the idea of the kind of actor that I am.

Q: How many productions of your own do you have in the market now?

R: I have five or six. I have Farapamo, Emi Ni Ire Kan, Baba Super, Ila Owo, Eje Fun Eje anf Fayebora.

Q: And how did you become the hottest actor in the Yoruba sector of Nollywood today?

R: I can't really answer that. You know I only get invitations to come and act in movies and I would go there and do my job. I don't run after anybody and I want to believe nobody is running after me. Although, a lot people would call me and say if we don't see your face in a movie, we won't buy it and all that. And I would thank them and would also thank God for making me appealing to them. Another thing I always tell them is that; please continue to pray for me because there have been a number of actors before me that are nowhere to be found today and they are still alive. They are just no more marketable. So, I don't know anything about being the hottest actor. What I know is that my God is always there for me.

Q: But there must have been something special about your acting that almost every producer wants you in their productions…

R: Like I told you, I see every movie that I'm partaking in as a challenge. And that is the only thing I know. And two, if you are invited as an actor to any production, you shouldn't see your audience as fools. Deliver your role as if everything is real. You have to convince them as if what they are watching is happening in real life. As if it is reality. And they would be watching and enthralled with your acting. They shouldn't see lapses and that is the secret. If I'm to play a good boy in a movie, I'll play that good boy to the core. And if it's to be a bad boy, I'll do it to the best of my ability. That is all.

Q: So, what are the things acting has done for Odunlade Adekola?

R: I have rest of mind. I am personally okay. I can eat three square meal conveniently. I am comfort. Those are the things acting has done for me.

Q: How do you relate with you female colleagues in the industry.

R: Just as you have seen, Sikiratu Sindodo just came in to greet me by hugging me. And I told her I'm busy, I'll see you later. And that is all.

Q: Are you saying you don't have a personal relationship with any of them?

R: No, no, no. We are all friends. My relationship with them is purely professional.

Q? How about your female fans outside, I mean the overzealous ones that would insist on a date?

R: I love all my female fans. Do you know why? They are the ones that really watch films and make their boyfriends, their husbands, their fathers brothers and other people around them to watch our films by telling the about us. They there is one good actor now called so, so, so, you have to see his new movie. And there and then, they help build our fan base. So, I always appreciate my female fans when they call me to say Odunlade, we are enjoying your movies. And I would also make myself available to those that have business deal for me or want to join acting. There is nothing beyond that.

Q: your saying you have never dated a female fan?

R: No. Never!

Q: If you were not an actor, what would you have been?

R: I would have been a business administrator or a lawyer. That is if my educational background had been very solid. But, to now start pursuing all that now, I think it's too late for me. I have to be realistic because it would take much of my time. At least, as I am now, I can take care of myself and my family.

Q: Can you let us into our background?

R: I attended Saint John RCM primary school in Abeokuta here. Then, to Saint Peter's College, Olomore, Abeokuta. And I am still schooling in one of the University that I don't want to talk about.

Q: Which movie should your fans be expecting from your stable soon?

R: I just finished with is Fayebora and another one is in the pipe.

HERO!! 14-year-old boy wins N1m for rescuing boy in boat accident!!

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 04:46 AM PDT

In fulfillment of its renowned Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative towards children, Dufil Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles has unveiled three lucky winners for this year's Indomie Independence Day Awards (IIDA) and rewarded them with cash prizes worth N2.25 million.
Mr Haresh Aswani, Chairman, Dufil Prima Foods during the presentation of the awards in Lagos  said it was targeted at identifying and rewarding children whose heroic acts touched lives but were often ignored due to their age.
"This event is significant because it is rooted in the recognition of those whose best efforts are very often overlooked by the society. On a daily basis, our beloved Nigerian children perform thousands of heroic acts at great personal risk to themselves. In 2008, we decided to take up the challenge by not only recognising these young heroes, but also providing them scholarship opportunities since their actions have touched lives in their immediate communities and beyond," he noted.
For Divine Toruemi, Mohammed Kenubu and David Adekunle who placed first, second and third respectively, the awards could not have come at a better time since they never knew their acts of bravery would someday be rewarded. They were picked by a distinguished panel of judges from an initial shortlist comprising 14 children for this year's edition of the event. Toruemi who resides in Port Harcourt rescued a drowning boy; while Kenubu from Kano helped find a missing baby and Adekunle, a Minna-based 8-year-old, got robbers arrested through his ingenuity. They got N1 million, N750,000 and N500,000 respectively for their heroism.
Toruemi, 14, said her recognition by Dufil Prima Foods Plc was an encouragement to always go the extra mile for others. "If I hadn't done what I did that day by saving the drowning boy, I probably wouldn't be here for this award. My message to children out there is to help save lives whenever they can. I'd like to say a big thank you to Dufil Prima Foods for the cash prize which will be very helpful to me and my family," she said.
Aswani, who said the CSR initiative was key because it had encouraged children to aspire to greater heights over the past five years, added that the winners deserved celebration for scaling the strict standards of a panel of judges to emerge the Indomie Independence Day Heroes for 2013.
Also Speaking at the event, the CEO, Mr Deepak Singhal, assured that the company would always celebrate children who serve as change agents in their respective communities.
Human rights activist, Dr. Joe Odumakin, in her keynote address tagged 'Children as Agents of National Transformation' said, "I would like to commend Dufil Prima Foods Plc for rekindling the hope of the Nigerian child with this enviable initiative which rewards unique acts of bravery and heroism in our children, thereby inspiring them to aspire to greater heights."
While lamenting the dearth of moral standards in the country, she said initiatives such as the Independence Day Awards were necessary since they gave children the hope of a brighter tomorrow. "The future of every nation is dependent on the youth, many of whom are children. Hence, it is pertinent for a nation that wants to grow to make conscious efforts to provide a better future for them as the nation's destiny lies in their hands."

“I love to have Genevieve as my wife" - D'Banj (KOKO Master) Reveals!

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 04:36 AM PDT

Singer, Dapo Oyebanji, aka D'banj, finally opened up on his love life in a rare meeting with journalists in Lagos on Wednesday.

The self-styled Kokomaster was clearly in his elements as he talked at length, amid occasional bouts of laughter, about his career and other issues that were important to him. One of the subjects was about his rumoured relationship with Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji.
Judging by the manner in which the actress' name kept popping off his lips, it was obvious that D'banj had a very soft spot for her.

Aware that the grapevine had bristled with the rumour that he was romantically involved with Genevieve, ever since she appeared in the 2010 video of his hit song, 'Fall in Love', the singer said the actress had played a role in his success.

"Apart from the fact that she is my friend, she has been a part of my success. There is no way you are going to tell my story that Genevieve's name will not come up because she featured in my biggest song of all time, Fall in Love. So if E True Story comes to Nigeria to interview me, she will definitely be called upon to tell my story," he said.

As if to confirm that there was more to his relationship with the actress than he had always admitted, D'banj added, "I would love to have Genevieve as my wife.  We never can tell what God plans for us in the future. I have studied her and I realised that anyone that has her as his woman has found himself a treasure. Just like the Bible says, any man who finds a wife, finds a good thing."
Perhaps the fans and admirers of the 'love birds' will have to brace themselves for a symbolic wedding of two of the most celebrated artistes on this side of the globe in the nearest future.

Meanwhile, D'banj plans to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his music career anytime in 2014. As expected, the singer aims to roll out the proverbial drums to celebrate in style what he describes as the overwhelming success of his foray into the Nigerian music scene.
The one-time harmonica wielding artiste has, indeed, made tremendous progress in his career since his monster hit, 'Tongolo' was released in 2004.
The artiste, who wormed his way into the highly competitive international music market after signing on to Kanye West's G.O.O.D Music in 2011, no doubt, has finally found his bearing as an entertainer since he parted ways with Mo'Hits.

"So much has happened in the last 18 months and I am very thankful to God. By the Grace of God, I have remained relevant for nearly a decade in the music industry and I have released hit songs every year. Also, I am glad that I have been chosen to headline the Hennessy Artistry this year. This is one brand that understands the importance of aligning with the entertainment industry.
"My career is barely 10 years old.                But with the success I have achieved so far, it feels like three decades already. Within my first 10 years as a musician, I have recorded the biggest song and shot the most viewed music video of all time, 'Oliver Twist'. I must say I am humbled and getting ready to take over," he said.

Without mincing words, D'banj noted that the history of his career and the resulting accomplishments will be incomplete without mentioning his humble beginning with the defunct Mo'Hits Records. The mere mention of his erstwhile colleagues, including Don Jazzy, seemed to awaken nostalgic feelings in him.
"If I say I don't miss Don Jazzy, I am lying. I have spent the better part of my career with him. I was married to him in a way (laughs). So I miss everything about Mo'Hits: the family, the movement, and the vibe of being in the studio with him. I miss the jokes and the arguments, but I have since keyed into the notion that nothing can stop a moving train.

"Nevertheless we can always do music together. The track, 'Top of the World' was produced by a Grammy Award Winner. The songs 'Finally' and 'Don't Tell Me Nonsense' was produced by my producer while 'Oliver Twist' was produced by Don Jazzy. So, why won't I have him on my 10 years anniversary album?
"I have never said I am a musician; I am an entertainer. Some people say I can pick up a microphone and become a comedian. Therefore nobody should come and ask if I want to go into acting because they should know I am already an actor. It depends on when the right script and concept lands in my hands.

"For now, I am concerned about achieving new things and breaking new grounds. By the time I enter Hollywood, I believe that I'll become as successful as I have been as a singer. The movie titled 'I am Banga Lee', starring Genevieve, to be released in 2014, won't be a bad idea," He said.
It seems that the world is at the Kokomaster's feet. Yet, he is not in denial of the fact that his fans in Nigeria are his greatest assets.

"The Hennessey Artistry Tour afforded me the opportunity to meet my fans here in Nigeria. I have not travelled across the country in a long while because I am abroad all the time. Most of my fans complained that they have not seen me since 2007 and I reallised that I need to be in constant touch with my fans down here."

ASUU Strike: Electricity workers threaten power sector shutdown If Govt Refuse to End ASSU strike!!

Posted: 11 Oct 2013 04:16 AM PDT

The National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, yesterday, gave the Federal Government seven days to resolve the strike embarked upon by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, or face a total shut down of electricity facilities in the country.
The union said that it could no longer sit back and watch those in positions of authority destroy the future of young Nigerians who have remained at home for weeks on account of the Federal Government's refusal to meet the legitimate demands by ASUU.
General Secretary of NUEE, Mr Joe Ajaero, who spoke at a training workshop for labour leaders in the power sector in Enugu, said that electricity workers across the country would be directed to join other progressive labour unions "to shut down the country" as a way of expressing anger over the lingering face-off between the Federal Government and the academic staff.
He said: "We can no longer sit back and watch this disturbing drama going on between the Federal government and ASUU.  If the strike is not addressed within the next one week, NUEE and other progressive unions, will shut down the country.
"It is unfortunate that those in power are not bothered about the closure of the universities. They are less concerned because none of their children are studying in Nigerian universities.
